[The cabin sits nestled in a clearing thick with ancient trees, their gnarled branches forming a canopy that filters the sunlight into eerie patterns on the forest floor. The air is heavy with incense and damp moss. Dozens of trinkets dangle from the eaves—bones carved with runes, glass orbs glowing faintly, feathers tied with red string, and small bells that tinkle despite the still air. It's obvious that the occupant is a master in the arcane arts.]

[Suddenly, something shifts behind one of the grime-streaked windows. A brief flicker of green light illuminates a silhouette. Before any detail can be made out, the heavy velvet curtains snap shut.]

[Moments later, hurried footsteps echo within, wood creaking under fast-moving feet. The door trembles as a series of locks are hastily unlatched—metal clanking and scraping in rapid succession, each sound sharper and more frantic than the last.]

[The ancient door open with a creak. Behind it, a short figure stands. If not given the dark surroundings, one may assume she was a child. She wears a weathered and dirt stained cloak, which keeps her face in the shadows. The only thing that could really be seen is a green eye, with a slit pupil. The eye seems to move on it's own. Traces of dress can be seen where one would assume her feet would be. Her arms are pale, with faint black lines. Her smile could be felt.]

Oh! Please, do come in! I hope your trek here was well. The trees do like playing tricks on people that they don't like.

I saw the thing you mentioned about Al-Haitham patiently teaching his child and I LOVE it!

I headcanon that he's the type of dad that encourages his kids to debate him. It encourages them to think critically in his opinion and he likes that they can challenge authority. They struggle to win against him, but when they DO. When they DO. Everyone they know will know. it's like: child: baba can I [something or another]? Al-Haitham: no child: proceeds to attempt to debate Al-Haitham: entertains it. after a while... Al-Haitham: very well, you may child: in AWE. lights up and BOLTS to their mother

he's just a small little proud smile, because he's happy his kiddo can debate so well.

He wants to spur his kids on to do their best. I know as a kid I would've gotten incredibly annoyed at my dad if he had done that and grown frustrated, but I also would've tried to one-up him to "win" the next argument 😂

The mental image I have of him just sitting on the divan with a book in hand. The small proud smirk on his lips as he keeps reading the book while listening in on how his child proudly tells you about how they won an argument against him. Adorable!!

I bet he is also the type of dad who wouldn't really let their kid win games (like card games, board games etc.). Because he wants them to win fair and square. It also teaches the child that to win you sometimes have to lose and that failure isn't the end of the world.

Although if he would notice the child would grow too frustrated he'd also go easy on them. I think even though he doesn't appear like he has it, he possesses a lot of emotional intelligence. Especially for people close to him. He would immediately catch onto it if he is going too far or if the child isn't in the headspace for it.

Also also!! Due to all that I think, while he spurs his kid on to do his best in school he wouldn't be angry at them if they don't have top grades. Like he would never scold them or yell at them for bringing home a failed test. I think, he'd ask them what they thought went wrong and would go over the exam with them together and explain the things they didn't understand. He'd be so patient with them, too! Education should be fun and stress-free because otherwise, he knows they'd lose interest in pursuing knowledge on their own later on. 🥺

Sorry for rambling about this so much I'm just absolutely obsessed with the concept of dad!haitham djkfhsjd
