A Historic Year for the Boston Crusaders

In the world of Drum Corps International, the Boston Crusaders have always been known for their innovation and artistic excellence. However, the year 2022 marked a historic turning point for the corps, with their production, "Paradise Lost." But before we talk about their show, let me give you a little background knowledge of the history of the Boston Crusaders.

Founded in 1940, the Boston Crusaders have a rich history as one of the oldest drum corps in DCI. Over the years, they've consistently pushed the boundaries of innovation, earning their place among the top corps. But this year they saw heights they've never seen before achieving the silver medal and tying with the bluecoats for 2nd.

Paradise Lost was an excellent show and having seen this show in person last year at NightBeat, I can say it was my favorite show of the night. Congratulations to the Boston Crusaders for a historic season!

Finishing in 7th place, Boston Crusaders' "The Core of Temptation" figuratively explored the story of Eve in the Biblical Garden of Eden, drawing on musical portraits of desire and its consequences as paradise plunged into madness and chaos.

songs i was not prepared to hear played by various corps at the DCI competition today, in no particular order:

Welcome to the Black Parade (my brother and i both had a visceral reaction)

Everything in its Right Place by Radiohead (for personal reasons. i cannot escape this song)

Hymn of Axciom (also for personal reasons. very creepy lyrics in that one but it fit with the show so very well)

Take Me to Church (and it was beautiful. my soul left my body)

Wellerman (as in. the sea shanty. and it slapped)

Idk what the song was but troopers had a harmonica (and also the coolest props their show was amazing)

Tank! (as heard in cowboy bebop, a show me and my father love very much)

in conclusion: i love marching band. DCI is so cool. all of these songs absolutely slapped in each performance
