UTTERLY random movie rec, but being reminded recently of how much I love Phantom of the Paradise has also reminded me of how much I love Brigsby Bear.
Those movies have very, very little in common other than being sort of cult and I guess maybe having a Vintage Loser as the protagonist? But they’re both just utterly perfect little capsules of a story… not making a ton of sense if you look at them too closely, not something you’d want to or need to expand upon in a franchise or a 12-episode series, but just like… the cinematic equivalent of a really good self-contained short story?
Its way too expensive to download when I already own the BluRay but I think I’m going to do it anyway, watch Brigsby Bear in bed tonight and think about Storytelling.

Brigsby Bear…..is so weird……but also…….so wholesome…….and kind to a character that reads as autistic but probably isn’t due to canonically being socially underdeveloped…….but still.

Please dont destroy's film trailer was good there was like 3 jokes in it that rlly rlly got me. Tears in my eyes hands shaking trying to manage expectations...this could singlehandled change the trajectory of comedy films. This could save me. They have to do what lonely island couldnt and convert internet fame into box office success or streaming success ig + then there will be hope
