HeroFX Review: A Comprehensive Look at the Alleged Forex Scam
In the vast and often volatile world of forex trading, the presence of unscrupulous brokers is a constant threat to both novice and seasoned traders. HeroFX, a broker that has recently come under scrutiny, is the subject of many discussions and concerns. This review delves into the various aspects of HeroFX to determine whether it is a legitimate broker or a potential scam.
Background and Overview
HeroFX claims to offer a comprehensive trading platform with a wide range of assets, including forex, commodities, indices, and cryptocurrencies. Promising competitive spreads, high leverage, and a user-friendly interface, HeroFX aims to attract traders looking for a reliable trading experience.
Regulation and Licensing
One of the primary red flags for any forex broker is the lack of proper regulation and licensing. HeroFX is reportedly not registered with any reputable financial regulatory authority. This absence of regulation means that traders are not protected by any governing body, increasing the risk of fraudulent activities and loss of funds.
Trading Platform and Tools
HeroFX offers its own proprietary trading platform, which is marketed as intuitive and feature-rich. While the platform appears to be functional, there have been numerous complaints about its reliability and execution speed. Some users have reported significant delays in order execution, leading to potential losses.
The broker also provides various tools and resources for traders, such as educational materials, market analysis, and trading signals. However, the quality and accuracy of these resources are questionable, with many users alleging that the information provided is often outdated or misleading.
Customer Support
Effective customer support is crucial for any forex broker, especially when dealing with complex financial transactions. HeroFX has received mixed reviews in this area. While some traders have reported satisfactory interactions with the support team, many others have experienced long wait times, unhelpful responses, and unresolved issues. This inconsistency in customer service further undermines the broker's credibility.
Withdrawal and Deposit Issues
One of the most significant concerns surrounding HeroFX is the difficulty many traders face when trying to withdraw their funds. Numerous complaints highlight delayed withdrawals, with some users claiming they never received their money. This pattern of behavior is often indicative of a scam broker, as legitimate brokers prioritize transparent and efficient fund transfers.
Additionally, the deposit process has also raised suspicions. HeroFX allegedly encourages large initial deposits and offers enticing bonuses that come with restrictive terms and conditions, making it challenging for traders to access their funds.
User Reviews and Complaints
A cursory glance at various online forums and review sites reveals a plethora of negative feedback from traders who have used HeroFX. Common grievances include:
Unresponsive or hostile customer service.
Manipulated trading conditions leading to unexpected losses.
Inability to withdraw funds.
Suspiciously positive reviews that appear fabricated.
These recurring themes paint a concerning picture of HeroFX and suggest a pattern of unethical practices.
Conclusion
In conclusion, while HeroFX presents itself as a reputable forex broker with attractive features, the overwhelming evidence points to the contrary. The lack of regulation, persistent withdrawal issues, and numerous negative user reviews all indicate that HeroFX may not be a trustworthy broker. Traders are advised to exercise extreme caution and conduct thorough research before engaging with this broker. In the unpredictable world of forex trading, it is always better to err on the side of caution and choose a broker with a proven track record of reliability and transparency.

THE LAST TIME Feyre saw Valda, she had resembled a walking corpse. Yet, standing before her now, her body seemed to have become more filled in, looking healthier and stronger. Unlike the dresses Elain and Nesta wore, Val was dressed in a loose cream-colored tunic and dark brown breeches that were tucked into a pair of leather hunting boots that reached just below her knees. A plethora of weapons were strapped across her back, hips, and even legs. Compared to everyone else's fine clothes, Val looked rugged and untamed, yet somehow it didn't take away from her beauty, if anything her wild appearance seemed to enhance it.
Val's eyes danced with that familiar playful twinkle as she took in the stunned yet relieved expression on Feyre's face. For a moment, the smirk on Val's lips reminded Feyre of a certain fox, but before she could dwell on that thought, she shook it away.
Feyre couldn't help but instantly relax at the sight of her sister, a smile of relief curving on her lips. All three Fae males, on the other hand, had unconsciously straightened up in their seats at the eldest Archeron's entrance. Feyre had spoken of her frequently, always speaking her name with a great deal of love and even reverence, enough so that it garnered the intrigue of the three males. Seeing her now, there was just something about Valda that commanded their attention. The eldest Archeron held herself with a quiet unyielding confidence, something unusual to see from a mortal, especially in the presence of Fae. Even Nesta showed her discomfort in the form of defensiveness, yet her twin remained wholly unbothered.
"Valda," Feyre breathed. Her eyes tracked Val's movements as her elder sister pushed off from her position at the door and casually strolled into the room.
Those silver eyes scanned the occupants at the table, barely giving much attention to the three males before focusing back on Feyre, "Sorry, I'm late. Now, mind telling me what has my twin in such an uproar that she refuses to listen?"
"Val—" Nesta tried to protest, but Val's eyes cut to her, glaring colder than Feyre had ever seen on her face. Nesta cut herself off, her jaw flexing as she snapped her mouth shut.
"Feyre is our sister," Val used the same soft tone she used to use back in the cottage, one that brokered no room for argument. "We owe it to her to listen to what she has to say."
Yet, Nesta was her equal, and just like her twin she wasn't one to back down. "I did listen, and we cannot help. They are fae," She growled out in disgust.
"And?" Val questioned lazily, her demeanor remaining completely relaxed, "You are placing judgment on your bias, Nesta." She chided in an infuriating casual tone that had Nesta grinding her teeth. "Until proven otherwise, Feyre and her...friends are more than welcome here."
She sent Feyre a wink. A silent signal that Feyre, so far, had Val's full support.
That small action was finally what spurred Feyre into moving, she was out of her seat in an instant—mindful of her new strength—she wrapped Val into a tight hug. For a brief moment, Feyre let the familiar safety and comfort that Valda's arms provided wrap around her, making her feel like a young girl once more.
It was a conscious effort for her to pull away, knowing she couldn't stay there forever. When she finally did, it was then did she get a proper look at her sister's face, catching the sight of an inch-long cut on Val's cheek which was partially hidden by her dark locks. It was new and Feyre had seen enough wounds to realize it had come from a weapon with a smooth edge, such as an arrow or a blade.
The last time Feyre had seen Val, Feyre was too focused on Tamlin to really question what her sister had been doing during the time she had been away, but now with a clearer mind, Feyre was certain it was something dangerous. The cold disapproving look of displeasure on Nesta's face when Feyre asked about Val also began to make more sense. Nesta was worried for Val, and when she was worried she tended to cover it up with anger.
Val's hand came and gently tucked a few locks of Feyre's golden-brown hair behind her now-pointed ears. Feyre had to fight the urge to flinch as she expected to see a flash of disgust in Val's eyes, but it never came. All that shone in her silvery-blue eyes was love and acceptance.
"Now, this is a new look," Val murmured, also using the moment to take in the new changes to her sister. "It suits you." Feyre's cheeks reddened at the compliment and Val's lips curved. "But you know if you wanted to send our sister into an early grave, there are plenty of other ways to do it," She teased.
Feyre choked back a laugh that threatened to spill out as she heard Nesta let out a low growl from where she was sitting behind her. Val, however, ignored it and grinned, but suddenly her whole body stiffened, and her eyes flashed with pain. Immediately recognizing the look and what was happening, Feyre's expression shifted into one of concern.
Pitching her voice lower as she addressed Val—not that it mattered as the males in the room could still hear the pair clearly with their Fae hearing. "You're still in pain? Could the healers do nothing?" As she spoke, her hand was already clasping Val's, trying to heal her sister with her magic, only for nothing to happen.
Val, somehow, realizing what Feyre was trying to do, placed her other—slightly shaking—hand over her sister's and gave her a sad smile filled with resignation and acceptance. "Some things my darling sister cannot be healed as easily." With a gentle squeeze, she pushed Feyre's hand away. "Not even by magic."
Feyre opened her mouth to insist, but Val just waved a hand towards the table, "Later. Sit, eat, and you can tell me what it is that you all need."
Not leaving Feyre with much of a choice, Valda turned and took a seat at the head of the table. It was a subtle and strategic move on her part, conveying her neutrality but also a reminder that as the eldest she was the head of the family and thus held the power to make the final decision. Feyre sighed and moved to regain her old place when she realized she hadn't introduced her sister to the boys, who had been silently watching the whole interaction.
Feyre awkwardly cleared her throat as she looked towards the three males. "This is my eldest sister, Valda Archeron," Feyre explained, and she couldn't help the slight note of pride that seeped into her tone.
Feyre glanced at Val before nodding her head towards where Cassian sat at the far end of the table across from Nesta. "This is Cassian."
Cassian grinned broadly at Val, and she returned it with a small polite one, inclining her head in greeting.
Feyre gestured towards the next male sitting beside Cassian. For a brief moment, when their eyes connected, Val felt her heart skip a beat. He was devastatingly handsome. Resembling a marble statue come to life.
"This is Azriel." The elder girl cleared her throat, giving him the same nod of greeting she gave Cassian.
Azriel returned the gesture, his golden eyes filled with intensity, something that Val matched. Neither was willing to look away, and slowly, a ghost of a smile twitched at Azriel's lips, and Val found her own lips copying the gesture.
"—And this is Rhysand," Feyre's voice had Val snapping out of her little stare-off and breaking eye contact with Azriel as she turned to the final male, sitting beside Feyre. "The High Lord of the Night Court."
Val glanced at Feyre, and she raised an eyebrow, and Feyre knew precisely why. The last time they spoke, Feyre told her that she had fallen for the High Lord of the Spring Court named Tamlin—also known as the beast who invaded their old home—while Rhysand was the wicked one. It seemed fate had once thrown a twist in her sister's life.
Unlike the other two males, Rhysand stood up and gave Val a warm smile. When he had greeted Nesta and Elain, he had formally bowed, but with Val, he instead held out his hand. "Thank you for your willingness to hear us out."
It seemed everyone held in a collective breath as they waited to see if Val would accept Rhysand's hand or not.
Val gave him a contemplative look and saw nothing but sincerity in his eyes. Standing, she reached out and firmly grasped his forearm, and he copied giving it a small shake—a warrior's greeting.
"I apologize for the cold reception. We were taught better than that." A small reprimand to her sisters. One which had Nesta lifting her chin unapologetically, while Elain's tipped in shame. Val motioned to the untouched food, "Please, sit. We can discuss what you need of me and my sisters over dinner."
Val may not have had an interest in living amongst the high society, however, it didn't mean she had forgotten the rules and manners her mother had instilled in her as a child, she knew how to act like a proper host when she needed to.
Rhysand inclined his head and retook his seat, and Val waited for Feyre to do the same before finally taking her seat. Both Feyre and Rhysand swiftly caught Val up to speed and explained what they needed and the situation they were in. Val listened attentively, and when they finished, she let out a sigh.
Feyre felt her heart sink as she realized that there was an equal possibility that Val would choose to say no. Her sister would always put their family's safety first and what they were asking went against that.
"I'll be honest to say I am not entirely pleased with the plan," Val stated her gaze on Rhysand. "This puts my sisters at extreme risk if something were to go wrong." Feyre felt her shoulders drop, and she prepared herself for the inevitable 'no.' But Val wasn't finished speaking. "However...I understand its merit, and it would be selfish of us to say no. From what you tell me, war is inevitable, and all of us will need every advantage we can get. You can have your meetings here. I only ask you to keep my sisters safe," Val looked to Rhysand before giving a pointed glance at Feyre, "All my sisters."
Hopelessness was replaced by relief, and Feyre could've sobbed at the sudden weight lifting off her chest.
Rhysand nodded swiftly. "Of course, I'll have my guards watch the manor. Any sign of trouble, they will get you and your sisters out and bring you all to my court," He said.
"Then it's settled," Val said, nodding in agreement, before gesturing to the food, "Please, eat."
Nesta's lips were tight in displeasure, but she said nothing even though it was clear she wanted to disagree. The entire table was quiet as everyone scooped food onto their plates.
Feyre's eyes glanced around the table and saw that Rhys had dug into his chicken without hesitation. Even Cassian and Azriel ate as if they hadn't had a meal in months. Nesta and Elain, on the other hand, ate like proper ladies, taking small and dainty bites.
Feyre never grew up learning the proper etiquette, and it had her pausing. Feyre glanced at Val, and when Val noticed her gaze, she paused. She, too, had been eating with the propriety of a lady, but when she saw the lost look on Feyre's face, her eyes softened in understanding. Casually, she changed her mannerisms and began eating more like how the boys were. Feyre shot Val a grateful look, relaxing.
However, the second she had her first bite, she had to fight back a cringe. It tasted like ash.
"Is there something wrong with our food?" Feyre looked up to see Nesta watching her with narrowed eyes.
From beside her, Val tensed, but she continued to eat her meal. Yet, her motions were stiffer, ready to jump in if Nesta went too far.
Feyre forced herself to take another bite.  She swallowed and gulped down a healthy drink of water. "No," She lied.
"So you can't eat normal food anymore—or are you too good for it?" It was both a question and a challenge.
Rhysand's fork clanked sharply against his plate. Elain made a slight, distressed noise. Val, on the other hand, shot Nesta a warning glare but still refrained from jumping to Feyre's defense, giving her youngest sister a chance to stand up to her twin.
Feyre laid her hands flat on the table and met her sister's gaze head-on. "I can eat, drink, fuck, and fight just as well as I did before. Better, even."
Cassian choked on his water. Azriel shifted in his seat, angling to spring between Feyre and Nesta if need be. While Val had to look down at her plate to hide the proud smirk that threatened to cross her lips.
Nesta let out a low laugh, but her eyes, they shone with disapproval and disgust.
"If you ever come to Prythian, you will discover why your food tastes so different," Rhysand told Nesta evenly.
Nesta sniffed haughtily, and she all but looked her nose down at him. "I have little interest in ever setting foot in your land, so I'll have to take your word on it."
"Nesta, please," Elain murmured, giving the headstrong woman a pleading look.
Val continued to watch, noticing as the one Feyre called Cassian sized Nesta up. His eyes held the gleam of a warrior facing a new opponent.
Nesta's attention cut to Cassian, noticing the same look Val had, and she too recognized what it meant. She snarled softly, "What are you looking at?"
Cassian didn't miss a beat, "Someone who let her youngest sister risk her life every day in the woods while she did nothing. Someone who let a fourteen-year-old child go out into that forest, so close to the wall." The tension in the room grew thicker, and from beside her, Feyre could feel Val going dangerously still, "Your sister died—died to save my people. She is willing to do so again to protect you from war. So don't expect me to sit here with my mouth shut while you sneer at her for a choice she did not get to make—and insult my people in the process."
Nesta didn't bat an eyelash. Her cold eyes studied the handsome warrior before her before turning to look back at Feyre, dismissing him entirely.
Cassian's face went almost feral, a slight snarl curling at his lip.
Elain spoke up, her voice shaking as she recognized the predator in Cassian. "It...it is very hard, you understand, to...accept it. We are raised this way. We hear stories of your kind crossing the wall to hurt us. Our own neighbor, Clare Beddor, was taken, her family murdered...It's all very disorienting," She finished in an attempt to justify herself and Nesta.
"I can imagine," Azriel said, a polite smile on his face as Cassian glared at him.
Val placed her palms flat on the table, "However disorienting it may be, I still apologize on behalf of my sister. It is no excuse to insult Feyre or any of you," Val spoke up, her tone even and controlled despite the roiling storm she felt inside of herself.
Elain slightly sunk down in her seat at Val's words, her cheeks red with embarrassment. Azriel, however, inclined his head, the smile marginally warmer.
For a moment, neither said a word. They only stared at the other; an understanding passed between them before Val finally broke eye contact when she heard Nesta snarl softly.
Val's eyes shifted to Cassian, meeting his heated gaze head-on. "I won't have you judging Nesta for matters you don't fully understand. If you want someone to blame for failing Feyre, blame me. As the eldest, the responsibility of taking care of the family fell to me. Feyre should never have gone into those woods alone, and it is a mistake that I regret every single day of my life for letting happen."
Elain's suddenly found her plate interesting unable to meet anyone's gaze, and for the briefest second, shame crossed Nesta's face, a crack in her armor. If there was one person who hadn't failed in taking care of their family, it was Val, she had given up everything for them, and all the Archeron sisters knew it, all except Val—she was a giver and even when she gave everything, she still believed she could give more.
Feyre could feel her eyes burn with unshed tears, and suddenly none of the Archeron sisters could look at Val. But Val, she kept her gaze locked with Cassian's even as she felt a painful ache in her heart.
She didn't like Cassian talking to Nesta that way, despite what he said was wholeheartedly the truth. For all Nesta's faults, Val would always protect her. But the other reason she spoke up was that, in her eyes, she believed she could've done more despite her own struggles at the time.
However, Val didn't see that. All she saw was that she failed to give her sisters a better life, she failed Feyre by letting the beast steal her away, she failed Nesta for not being there when Thomas Mandry tried to force himself on her.
What Val didn't realize was that she had given them a better life. She gave them joy when there was none, strength when all they wanted to do was give up, and most importantly, she gave them her love. She loved each of them so fiercely that they knew she would die for them. Even when their father gave up on them, Val never did, despite being a child herself. Val was their shield and their sword, pushing her own pain aside to make sure that they would be alright. She would do anything and had done everything for them.
Feyre's thoughts were so loud that Rhysand heard everything, and he felt a new wave of respect for the eldest Archeron. Val's loyalty was as fierce as his inner circles for each other, if not more.
He hoped that one day he would get the honour of being a part of those she considered family. Unlike Nesta and Elain, Rhysand found himself genuinely wanting to know Val as more than just his mate's sister. He wanted to know her as a friend.
Feyre gently grabbed Val's hand, yet Val didn't look away from Cassian until he finally broke eye contact. "You did the best you could," Feyre whispered, bringing Val's attention to her.
Val shook her head. "I could've done more. I failed you. It should've been me who killed that wolf. If I had just been there—" Val cut herself off and forced a smile onto her face. The smile was fake, but her words were genuine, "No matter now, you seem happy. That is all I ever wanted for you."
Feyre knew what Val was going to say. She could see that her sister still blamed herself for letting Feyre get taken away but never once in her life did Feyre blame Val. It wasn't her fault for the illness she suffered. It wasn't her fault for not noticing when Feyre went out to hunt. Val had been suffering, having been one of the most painful moments in her life—far past any physical pain—and the second she found out what Feyre had done, she had pushed her pain aside and once again stepped up for their family. Doing her best to provide for them, and even now she was still trying to do her best, despite Nesta and Elain's displeasure. Everything she had agreed to, was for their family's safety. That was all Feyre could ask for.
The conversation quieted after that, and everyone went back to their food. After the comment Nesta made, Feyre tried to force herself to eat, but when Val saw what she was doing, she just silently grabbed Feyre's plate and cleaned off all the food onto her own plate, shooting her a wink.
"Can you truly fly?" Elain asked breaking the silence as she looked at Azriel.
Her question had Val looking up from her plate curiously, and for some reason, it was Valda whom Azriel found himself glancing at almost self-consciously as he put his fork down, before turning to Elain.
"Yes. Cassian and I hail from a race of faeries called Illyrians. We're born hearing the song of the wind."
"That's beautiful," Val murmured, and Elain nodded in agreement.
Azriel's eyes once again glanced over at Val, and Feyre could have sworn the Shadowsinger's cheeks darkened slightly at her compliment.
Feyre had to stifle a smirk as she wondered if Azriel might be attracted to her sister and vice versa. The more Feyre thought about it, the more she found a small part of herself hoping for it to be true. Her sister hadn't shown interest in anyone for years, and Azriel was a good male. He would be good for her.
"Is it not—frightening, though? To fly so high?" Elain, once again, questioned, bringing Azriel's attention back to her.
"It is sometimes," Azriel answered. Cassian tore his relentless attention from Nesta long enough to nod his agreement. "If you are caught in a storm, if the current drops away. But we are trained so thoroughly that the fear is gone before we're out of swaddling."
"I always imagined what it would be like to fly, it sounds...freeing," Val smiled, a touch of wistfulness to her tone.
Azriel looked at Val, and he looked contemplative like he was debating on saying something, but before he could, Cassian clapped him roughly on the back.
"Well, if you ever want, I'll be happy to take you for a ride," Cassian grinned. No one missed the slight innuendo in his tone.
Val's lips twitched, but she fought back her amusement. "Something tells me that might be a bad idea," She responded drily.
Cassian winked suggestively before wincing when he felt Azriel swiftly kick his leg in warning.
"You look like High Fae," Nesta cut into the conversation sharply. "But you are not?"
"Only the High Fae who look like them," Cassian drawled, waving a hand over to where Feyre and Rhysand sat, "are High Fae. Everyone else, any other differences, mark you as what they like to call 'lesser' faeries."
"It's become a term used for ease but masks a long, bloody history of injustices. Many lesser faeries resent the term—and wish for us all to be called one thing." Rhysand explained.
"Rightly so," Cassian nodded, slightly tipping his glass in agreement before drinking from his water.
Val tilted her head curiously at Feyre, "But you weren't High Fae—not to begin with, at least. So what would you be?"
Rhysand said, "Feyre is whoever she chooses to be."
Val's lips quirked up, and she couldn't help but be amused at his casual protectiveness towards Feyre. She wondered how long the High Lord had feelings for her sister and if Feyre could see just how much he cared for her.
"As she should," Val agreed, knowing which battles to leave be.
Nesta once again spoke, this time her voice stiff and laced with even more displeasure, "Write your letter to the queens tonight. Tomorrow, Elain and I will go to the village to dispatch it. If the queens do come here," she added, casting a cold glare at Cassian, "I'd suggest bracing yourselves for prejudices far deeper than ours. And contemplating how you plan to get us all out of this mess should things go sour."
Val sighed, but she didn't say anything. Like she had said. She didn't like the plan, but she understood why it needed to be done. If war were indeed inevitable, then she would do everything in her power to make sure her sisters were safe, even if that meant putting them at a bit of risk to achieve it.
"We'll take that into account," Rhys answered smoothly.
"I look forward to hearing the plan," Val commented equally as smooth. Nesta was right. They needed a plan if everything went wrong, something much more than having the Night Courts guards whisk them off to Prythian. "I assume you'll be staying the night?" Val questioned.
"If it's not too much trouble, then yes. We'll leave after breakfast tomorrow." Feyre answered, looking at Nesta uncomfortably.
Val snorted at Feyre's words. It was her home too. "Of course, it isn't."
Elain beamed. "I think there are a few bedrooms ready—"
"We'll need two," Rhysand interrupted quietly. "Next to each other, with two beds each."
Val rose an eyebrow, yet Rhysand was looking at Feyre when he explained.
"Magic is different across the wall. So our shields, our senses, might not work right. I'm taking no chances. Especially in a house with a woman betrothed to a man who gave her an iron engagement ring."
Val stiffened slightly at the dig at Elain while Elain flushed slightly. "The—the bedrooms that have two beds aren't next to each other," she murmured.
"We'll move things around. It's fine. This one," Feyre said, shooting a pointed glare in Rhys's direction, "is only cranky because he's old, and it's past his bedtime."
Feyre's words eased the tension, earning a snort from Val, a chuckle from Rhys, a grin from Cassian, and a timid one from Elain.
Nesta just rose to her feet and said to no one in particular, "If we're done eating, then this meal is over."
Val shot the others an apologetic glance before she too got up to follow after Nesta. Not at all looking forward to the conversation and inevitable argument they were about to have.
Tumblr media
The sound of Nesta and Val arguing echoed throughout the entire manor. Elain, who remained with their guests, looked as if she wanted the ground to swallow her up whole as everyone sat in silence listening to the carrying voices of the sisters arguing.
"How can you trust them?! Their kind enslaved ours for centuries!" Nesta snarled out.
"Do you honestly think Feyre would bring them here if that was the case? They are trying to fight the one who wants us back in chains for Mother's sake!" Val huffed, exasperation clear in her tone.
"How do you know that?! The Fae cannot be trusted! They are evil!"
"You say it as if humans are so much better!" Val snapped back, her tone the harshest it's ever been. Her words held the weight of someone whose seen just how evil their own kind could be, someone who suffered from it.
Suddenly the manor went silent, almost eerily so.
Feyre exchanged looks with Rhys, and for a few moments, no one even moved. They waited for either of the sisters to say something, but neither Nesta nor Val spoke again.
Finally, Elain cleared her throat. Her face flushed red in embarrassment. "I-I should show you to your rooms."
It was apparent Elain wanted to get away from the group as fast as possible, yet she was too polite to outright voice her displeasure. After she showed Feyre and the boys to their requested rooms, she made a hasty excuse before all but scurrying away.

You may not know it, but thousands of often shadowy companies routinely traffic in personal data you probably never agreed to share — everything from your real-time location information to private financial details. Even if you could identify these data brokers, there isn’t much you can do about their activities, including in California, which has some of the strongest digital privacy laws in the U.S.
That’s on the verge of changing. Both houses of the California state Legislature have passed the Delete Act, which would establish a “one stop shop” where individuals could order hundreds of data brokers registered in the state to delete their personal data — and to cease acquiring and selling it in the future — with a single request.
The Delete Act isn’t law yet. Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom still has to decide whether to sign the measure, whose impact could potentially extend well beyond state lines given California’s history of setting similar trends.
Here’s what you need to know.
WHAT THE BILL DOES
While California law already gives individuals the right to request data deletion, doing so currently requires making separate requests to hundreds of data brokers registered in the state, many with their own unique requirements for drafting and handling such requests. Even then, nothing stops these companies from simply reacquiring the data after they delete it.
The Delete Act would require the state’s new privacy office, the California Privacy Protection Agency, to set up a website where consumers can verify their identity and then make a single request to delete their personal data held by data brokers and to opt out of future tracking. Proponents call it a “do not track” signal similar to the “do not call” list for telemarketers maintained by the Federal Trade Commission.
California already regulates data brokers, but the Delete Act would strengthen those provisions by requiring the companies to disclose more information about the data they collect on consumers and beefing up the state’s enforcement mechanisms.
MEET THE DATA BROKERS
The Electronic Privacy Information Center, a Washington, D.C., nonprofit focused on bolstering the right to privacy, defines data brokers as companies that collect and categorize personal information, usually to build profiles on millions of Americans that the companies can then rent, sell or use to provide services.
The data they collect, per EPIC, can include: “names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, gender, age, marital status, children, education, profession, income, political preferences, and cars and real estate owned.”
That is in addition to “information on an individual’s purchases, where they shop, and how they pay for their purchases,” plus “health information, the sites we visit online, and the advertisements we click on. And thanks to the proliferation of smartphones and wearables, data brokers collect and sell real-time location data.”
Privacy advocates have warned for years that location and seemingly non-specific personal data — often collected by advertisers and amassed and sold by brokers — can be used to identify individuals. They also charge that the data often isn’t well secured and that the brokers aren’t covered by laws that require the clear consent of the person being tracked. They have argued for both legal and technical protections so consumers can push back.
ARE DATA BROKERS THAT BAD?
Data brokers say they get a bad rap for serving a vital need.
Dan Smith, president of the Consumer Data Industry Association, which describes itself as “the voice of the consumer reporting industry,” called the Delete Act “severely flawed” and warned in a Wednesday release that the change could lead to unintended consequences by undermining consumer fraud protections, hurting the competitiveness of small businesses and entrenching big platforms such as Facebook and Google that collect vast amounts of consumer data but don’t sell it.
Smith also argued that the heart of the bill — the one-stop data deletion program — could potentially allow malicious outsiders to impersonate consumers and delete their data without permission. The organization also argues that the cost of the legislation will be much greater than California regulators currently suggest.
WHAT ABUSE OF DATA BROKER INFORMATION LOOKS LIKE
In other respects, though, the information collected by these companies can be startlingly easy to abuse. The general lack of U.S. restrictions on what brokers can do with the vast amount of data they collect means there’s aren’t many legal protections to prevent outsiders from spying on politicians, celebrities and just about anyone who is a target of idle curiosity, or malice.
In mid-2021, for instance, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops announced the resignation of its top administrative official, Monsignor Jeffrey Burrill, ahead of a report by the Catholic news outlet The Pillar probing his private romantic life. The Pillar said it obtained “commercially available” location data from an unnamed vendor that was “correlated” to Burrill’s phone to determine he had visited gay bars and private residences while using Grindr, a dating app popular with gay people.
The Pillar alleged “serial sexual misconduct” by Burrill, as homosexual activity is considered sinful under Catholic doctrine and priests are expected to remain celibate. Following an extended leave, Burrill resumed his ministry in the small town of West Salem, Wisconsin, according to the Catholic News Service.

It wasn’t long ago that most of the world was focusing on a U.S.-Saudi-Israeli “big Middle East deal.” The current climate of death, destruction, and the catastrophe that is unfolding before our eyes is a long way from the exuberance surrounding potential Saudi-Israeli normalization in the weeks and months prior to the war.
While some observers may be surprised by Hamas’s heinous Oct. 7 attacks and the eruption of a major war, others had long dreaded such an outbreak of violence. Due to the desperate desire of both Israel and the United States to see a normalization deal with Saudi Arabia, the unresolved and simmering Palestinian issue was largely ignored.
Both Israel and the United States had their respective reasons to push for normalization. For Washington, and in particular for President Joe Biden, being the broker of such a major deal would cement his legacy in history and provide a needed diplomatic talking point for the 2024 election campaign.
For Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, having Saudi Arabia—the custodian of Islam’s two holiest sites—recognizing Israel would be a strategic victory. If Saudi Arabia agrees to normalize relations with Israel, there will be little else to pressure the Netanyahu government, or any future Israeli government, with to ensure significant concessions and facilitate a political settlement that ushers in security for both Palestinians and Israelis.
As soon as the war erupted, there was an ominous feeling that a humanitarian catastrophe was going to ensue. There was little doubt that Arab states would condemn Israel. What was less clear was how Arab states would use their leverage. The energy landscape has changed dramatically from 1973, and therefore, the “oil card” was not going to hold much sway today.
This then raises the question of how Saudi Arabia will use its leverage in this crisis. While oil is no longer an effective instrument of leverage over the United States and Israel, Riyadh does have some tools in its diplomatic arsenal that—if deployed properly—will give it a say in shaping the future of Israel and Palestine.
As the war continues, both Israel and the United States are losing credibility. Forcibly displacing refugees from their homes, and then cutting off humanitarian essentials, is hardly a way to gain any support, let alone legitimacy for a military campaign. As the humanitarian catastrophe grows, the United States is losing international credibility, not least in the Middle East. While it is unrealistic to see any Saudi action that could force Israel to stop its war in Gaza, Saudi Arabia is using its symbolic position as the guardian of Islam’s holiest sites against Israel.
Riyadh is leading a diplomatic effort designed to generate an international narrative that questions the legality of Israeli military aggression, and the U.S. diplomatic cover it is utilizing. Not only are the Saudi ruling elites rejecting the Israeli self-defense argument, but they are also going on the diplomatic offensive. Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan is leading a diplomatic committee mandated by the Arab League and Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to tour various international capitals and argue for an immediate cease-fire.
The committee’s first stop was in Beijing and then Moscow. This was a clear signal to Washington that Saudi Arabia has other options in this ever-evolving multipolar world. In addition, the committee’s presence in the United Nations and the constant proposals by the Arab-Islamic group are designed to keep diplomatic pressure on the United States, by highlighting it as an obstacle to a cease-fire.
The Saudis are also using an overlooked diplomatic tool: silence. Their outright refusal of any political discussion before a cease-fire is also generating pressure by disallowing Israel a clear political horizon after the campaign. As the Saudi foreign minister said last month: “What future is there to talk about when Gaza is being destroyed.”
The Saudi ruling elites have another reason to avoid any discussion about the “day after.” They believe entertaining this idea won’t help achieve a permanent cease-fire and could be seen as being complicit in giving the current Israeli campaign a tacit legitimacy that is missing. Riyadh has been there before.
In 2006, when the Hezbollah-Israel war erupted, the then-Saudi ruling elites had a pragmatic position that balanced criticism of both Israel and Hezbollah. Saudi Arabia stated at the time that while it supported pan Arab causes, a “distinction must be made between legitimate resistance and uncalculated adventures undertaken by elements inside [Lebanon] and those behind them.”
Given the measured response, and the general expectation of an outright condemnation of Israel, this dual criticism was interpreted as tacit sign of tolerance of Israel’s behavior. This is something that Riyadh wants to avoid today. It does not want to allow itself to be politicized for Israeli political ends. In other words, the Saudi ruling elites want to avoid being “spun.”
Netanyahu is often dubbed the “master of spin.” The Saudis know that if they initiate any political discussion about the day after, or even hypothesizing about future scenarios, this will certainly lend itself to Netanyahu’s spinning tendencies. One can see how Netanyahu spun medical assistance to Gaza by the United Arab Emirates as if the Emirati support had been based on Netanyahu’s request, and not a response to the dire medical crises ensuing there. Saudi Arabia has a good sense of how its actions and statements can be spun in a way that suggests the Saudis and Israelis are on the same page regarding the day after for Gaza, which is far from the reality.
Where Riyadh has real leverage is when it comes to financing. Israel will never match the financial capacity of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. Its economy is struggling, and according to a recent report by the Bank of Israel, it is losing $600 million a week during this campaign. The Israeli central bank has also suggested that the war costs from 2023 to 2025 will amount to some $53 billion.
This is precisely what gives Saudis, GCC states and Arab states leverage, as any reconstruction efforts can be used to nudge Israel toward a genuine peace process. Otherwise, it will only be a matter of time until the region finds itself in the same situation again—if not worse.
The Saudis have never been averse to financial support to the Palestinians. They have provided a great deal of that over the decades, and it does not look as if such support will subside soon. What the Saudis are averse to is rebuilding a decimated Gaza for the sake of Israeli security—especially given that Israel was the party that carried out the destruction.
There is currently wishful thinking in Israel and Washington that Saudi Arabia and other GCC states will pay the bill for Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. According to a leak to the Israeli press, Netanyahu reportedly told a parliament committee on Dec. 11 that “the first step in Gaza will be to defeat Hamas. After that, I believe that the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia will support the rehabilitation of the Strip.”
To assume that Saudi Arabia and GCC states would readily agree to pay for the reconstruction of an inherited catastrophe, and then take responsibly for its security, reveals the naïve illusions entertained by many in Israel and the West. Western and Israeli discourses often depict the GCC states as irrational actors that spend first and think later—as if the GCC states’ only function in the world system is to throw money at other states’ problems. This is far from the reality. Nowadays, nothing in Saudi Arabia is spent unless it is deemed to be serving the kingdom’s interest; “Saudi Arabia first” is the principle that Saudi’s foreign policy is based on.
One of the difficulties of raising Saudi funds for reconstruction efforts is that Saudi Arabia itself is undergoing its own rebuilding process. Currently, the country has set itself a mammoth task of restructuring the state, building mega projects that are crucial to its Vision 2030 initiative, in the hope of eventually diversifying the Saudi economy away from oil to ensure the survivability of the state for generations to come. The Saudis do have the money, but it is for investing in Saudi Arabia’s future. Yet, this does not mean the Saudi ruling elites are not willing to invest in a future Palestinian state and contribute significantly to the rebuilding of its infrastructure.
The incentives for Saudi Arabia and other Arab states to contribute toward a reconstruction of Gaza can be increased if done right, within the right framework, with the right horizon, and with the right goals. Chief among these common goals is regional security, as this war has shown that the Palestinian issue is something that cannot be swept under the rug any longer.
This war also demonstrated the spillover risk—from the Lebanon-Israel border to Houthi attacks on international ships in the Red Sea off Yemen’s coast—it has the potential to destabilize the entire region. This regional risk can serve as leverage for the Saudis vis-à-vis Israel and as an incentive to pursue lasting peace.
“Regional prosperity” is a term commonly used by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. It is precisely this angle that one can see Saudi investment in the restructuring of Gaza but only as part of a political process with clear political horizons that seeks to resolve the core issues of this conflict. Saudi Arabia already has leverage over Israel by not offering normalization, but Riyadh leading a reconstruction effort only amplifies Saudi political leverage over Israel, as without functioning infrastructure in Gaza, security concerns for Israel will only increase.
Given the nature and complexity of this conflict, there is no single leader who can take charge but rather a few leaders who can influence the situation by using their respective leverage in a harmonized, coordinated process. To assume that Riyadh will take charge, notwithstanding the kingdom’s recent muscular foreign policy, is not likely.
The truth is that Saudi Arabia has always had a leading role in this conflict, but it preferred a leading-from-behind approach. This approach allowed it to use its diplomatic and symbolic weight without being on the political front line and potentially risking its strategic interests. The Saudi ruling elites came to the conclusion that they had mustered a great deal of political effort for a fruitless process and thus have never injected themselves into the intricacies of the Palestinian-Israeli final status negotiations.
The problem with the previous peace process is that it proved to be structurally doomed to fail, given the dramatic asymmetry in power between Palestinians, Israel, and its ardent defender in Washington. Before Riyadh steps up and shows greater assertiveness on this issue, the Saudi ruling elites need to see a clear political horizon and an improved structure to the peace process. At that point, they might use their considerable financial leverage to shape the outcome.

Daily Wrap Up February 24, 2023
IT’S BEEN A YEAR.
Under the cut:
China called for a comprehensive ceasefire in Ukraine on Friday and President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said he was open to considering parts of a 12-point peace plan put forward by Beijing.
Poland will send an additional 60 PT-91 Twardy main battle tanks to Ukraine  "in the coming days," Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Feb. 24 during his visit to Kyiv, as quoted by Ukrinform. PT-91 Twardy is a Polish upgraded version of the Soviet-era T-72 tank. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, Poland has provided Ukraine with 250 T-72 tanks, according to Morawiecki.
The US has announced that it will offer over $10 billion in assistance to Ukraine. In a statement on Friday, secretary of state Antony Blinken said, “…in coordination with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Department of the Treasury, we are announcing over $10 billion in assistance, including budgetary support to the Government of Ukraine and additional energy assistance to support Ukrainians suffering from Russia’s attacks.”
More than 9 million Ukrainian refugees — mostly women and children — crossed over to Poland, according Polish Consular General Adrian Kubicki, who told CNN that some decided to go back to Ukraine, some go back and forth, and some continued on to other countries.
“China called for a comprehensive ceasefire in Ukraine on Friday and President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said he was open to considering parts of a 12-point peace plan put forward by Beijing.
On the first anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Moscow's ally China urged both sides to agree to a gradual de-escalation, warned against the use of nuclear weapons and said conflict benefited no one.
The plan, set out in a foreign ministry paper, was largely a reiteration of China's line since Russia launched what it calls its "special military operation" on Feb. 24 last year.
China has refrained from condemning its ally Russia or referring to Moscow's intervention in its neighbour as an "invasion". It has also criticised Western sanctions on Russia.
"All parties must stay rational and exercise restraint, avoid fanning the flames and aggravating tensions, and prevent the crisis from deteriorating further or even spiralling out of control," the ministry said in its paper.
The initial reaction from Kyiv was dismissive, with a senior adviser to President Zelenskiy saying any plan to end the war must involve the withdrawal of Russian troops to borders in place when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.
However, Zelenskiy himself struck a more receptive tone in a news conference to mark the first anniversary of the conflict.
Russia said it appreciated China's plan and that it was open to achieving its goals through political and diplomatic means.
The proposals however cut little ice with NATO.
"China doesn't have much credibility because they have not been able to condemn the illegal invasion of Ukraine," NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg told reporters in Tallinn.
'NO NUCLEAR WAR'
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signalled he will double down on the conflict, despite major battlefield defeats in the past year, and has raised the spectre of nuclear weapons.
China said nuclear weapons must be avoided.
"Nuclear weapons must not be used and nuclear wars must not be fought," the foreign ministry said. "We oppose development, use of biological and chemical weapons by any country under any circumstances."
Since the war began weeks after Beijing and Moscow announced a "no limits" partnership, President Xi Jinping has spoken regularly with Putin but not once with his Ukrainian counterpart Zelenskiy. China's top diplomat Wang Yi visited Moscow for talks this week.
Brazil's new President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva stressed the need for a peace deal brokered by outsiders.
"It is urgent that a group of countries not involved in the conflict assume the responsibility of leading negotiations to reestablish peace," Lula said on Twitter.
There had been speculation that President Xi would deliver a "peace speech" on Friday but that did not occur.”-via Reuters

At a joint press conference with President Volodymyr Zelensky, Morawiecki also said that four Leopard 2 tanks have already arrived in Ukraine.
Earlier on Feb. 24, the Associated Press reported that Morawiecki had delivered the first batch of Leopard tanks out of 14 promised by Poland but didn't specify the number.
The Polish prime minister added that his country was ready to train Ukrainian soldiers to fly F-16 fighter jets "within the framework of a broader coalition."

Blinken said that the funds are crucial to Ukraine and ensure that the Ukrainian government can continue to meet “the critical needs of its citizens, including healthcare, education, and emergency services.”
He added that the Biden administration is also working alongside Congress to provide additional energy assistance to the war-torn country – a $250 contribution that will in turn address “immediate needs, including critical power grid equipment.”
The assistance is in addition to the $270 million that the US has already committed to help safeguard and bolster the country’s energy security in the past year.”-via The Guardian

“More than 9 million Ukrainian refugees — mostly women and children — crossed over to Poland, according Polish Consular General Adrian Kubicki, who told CNN that some decided to go back to Ukraine, some go back and forth, and some continued on to other countries.
Kubicki said that Poland demonstrated a new model of refugee assistance as it never put people fleeing their homeland in refugee camps. Instead, they are given a PESEL, which is the equivalent of an American social security number, so they could receive resources similar to the ones available to Polish citizens, he told CNN.
Ukrainian refugees would also have access to free education for their children and legal employment. People with disabilities would receive a per diem.
"We will provide it for as long as it needs to be provided," he said, noting that there is no expiration date set for this provision.
Poland is also the hub for many non-profit organizations that wish to help Ukrainian refugees flee to Poland or relocate to other countries, he said.
One of the organizations helping refugees is the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC). It has been in the area since before the war, but CEO Ariel Zwang says the resources channeled in the country have greatly increased since the invasion began.
The organization's total Ukraine-related budget expanded from $63.3 million to $113 million — a 78% increase. This includes the care for Ukrainian refugees outside the country, it told CNN.
They provide impacted Jewish Ukrainians with information, assistance and evacuation abilities.
"Internally displaced people stay in JDC hotels and receive trauma therapy," Zwang said, who gave the example of an elderly woman who she met in western Ukraine after being evacuated from eastern Ukraine.
"JDC reached out to her early in the war asking if she wants to relocate [to another country], and she said, 'no, I don’t know if my homecare will continue, I don’t know anybody there,'" Zwang recounted. "But when a JDC Hesed [community center] called again, asking if she wanted to evacuate to another location within Ukraine, she agreed. So we sent her a car so she could get to a bus at 7 a .m. (local time) to evacuate."
While stopping in the city of Dnipro for a few days, the woman heard thunderstorms and thought it was shelling. Zwang said that the woman was traumatized, and said, "My god, they have found me here too.””-via CNN

Is forex broker Clark Financial Advisory reliable?
This article contains the following information:
The most important information about Clark Financial Advisory;
Is Clark Financial Advisory a scam?
How do I get started with Clark Financial Advisory?
More detailed information about the brokerage organisation;
All modern brokerage terminals by and large have the necessary set of options, if we are not talking about all sorts of sophisticated options for technical analysis, used by scalpers and other categories of traders. It's not about the economic news and so on. Today, the main criterion for evaluating the excellence of a trading platform for newbies is its usability and intuitiveness. All the major functions such as getting price information, tools for market analysis, deal management, account management, instrument testing and tactics analytics are applied without any glitches. By the way, this can be said not only about the basic version of the platform, but also about the version for mobile phones and tablets. The website is also quite handy and has all the important information on it. We have not noticed any weaknesses. The same evaluation criteria apply to brokerage firm websites as to brokerage terminals and Clark Financial Advisory's website meets them, it is simple and intuitive.
Withdrawals
Judging by the reviews on Clark Financial Advisory, withdrawals are done without any difficulty. At least we didn't find that on any of the sites we looked at reviews on. After speculating on forex with Clark Financial Advisory we sent a withdrawal request and the money was transferred in about twenty-four hours. A repeat withdrawal yielded similar results. This is very very cool when you consider that the average withdrawal time from a brokerage company is a couple of times longer.
Overall, the process of registering and starting to trade is not very different from other companies. One needs to go through the identity verification procedure by uploading the usual package of documents. The minimum amount to start trading is also standard - $250. At the time of writing, broker Clark Financial Advisory provides four insured trades and access to a standard range of instruments in a beginner's package with a minimum deposit.
Trading experience with forex broker Clark Financial Advisory
We have been trading through Clark Financial Advisory for three weeks. For the most part it was trading in the foreign exchange market. We tested the signals that Clark Financial Advisory gives on forex. We did not collect statistics, but in general the ratio of profitable to loss-making trades was in favor of profitable ones. In addition, we watched how Clark Financial Advisory managers talk to us. We monitored whether they would use unfair practices, for example when offering investment solutions scammers often use the technique of creating urgency, i.e. the scammer claims that the option will be available for a couple of minutes and then will be irrelevant for some reason. In the end we did not see such things. Often even white brokers do not give any important information about their investment solutions, they do not tell us about additional commissions, dangers, their strategy and so on. Fortunately we have not noticed any of the above. For this reason, in this review of Clark Financial Advisory we claim that it is without a doubt a white company.
Features of Clark Financial Advisory broker
Apparently Clark Financial Advisory is client-oriented and therefore in its approach to investor communication, the broker aims to ensure that it allows clients the opportunity to earn and makes the trading process as easy as possible. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of forex broker Clark Financial Advisory:
Key information.
Clark Financial Advisory has been operating since 2013. Legal incorporation in the UK. Has a standard package of documents. In the stock market, commodities and foreign exchange markets, the broker offers work with the usual range of instruments. Clark Financial Advisory platform overview
In this part of the article information about:
What's good about the Clark Financial Advisory platform
The main requirement for brokerage platforms
Reviews on Clark Financial Advisory
We said above that the reviews on the broker are mostly positive, so here's just a mention of what the reviews most often discuss and about the ratio of favorable to critical reviews. The ratio of good to bad reviews at Clark Financial Advisory is somewhere around 5 to 1 in favor of the good. This ratio holds true on all review sites, including well-known ones like Trustpilot and Sitejabber. The point of the praise reviews can be boiled down to these things:
Good service and analytics;
The brokerage company sends effective signals;
No serious problems from interacting with the broker for a long time.
What does it take to work with forex broker Clark Financial Advisory?
Benefits of Clark Financial Advisory
customer focus;
Regular updates of our trading platform; Large selection of trading instruments;
Fast execution of orders;
Competent support service;
No hidden fees;
Is Clark Financial Advisory a scam? Without a doubt not. To start with, as it was written above, Clark Financial Advisory has all the required licenses in place. That's more important than anything else. It is also important, that we ourselves have checked Clark Financial Advisory and realized, that it is an honest company, which fulfills its obligations, providing a quality service and Clark Financial Advisory professionals are not trying to deceive traders and take their deposits one way or another. Generally, we all understand how many different kinds of scams there are at the moment, and how to recognize them. In recent years, many criminals charge huge hidden fees and rig slippages. Trading forex with Clark Financial Advisory we have not observed any of this. Opinions are also a very important parameter. Reading the reviews on Clark Financial Advisory we found the standard reviews on a white brokerage firm. People talk about their experience of trading signals etc.

“In Elpis, before:”
(Emet-Selch / Azem ficlet ahead, a gift for @tastysalubri )
“What exactly is the purpose of this?”
Persephone smiled at the question. The intensity of the sunlight here was enough to make Hades even more cantankerous than usual, a feat which by itself should have brokered a sense of wonder from both members of the Convocation in attendance. Far from the walls of Perisolos, the sunbaked sands stretched as far as the eye could follow them and further still, right to the border of the Lanion Sea, and as far as anybody (Hades included) could tell, there was not a speck of anything significant here, save for a few members of the research town milling about, sometimes accompanied by floating sprites of ice or water-aspected aether to make the suffocating heat any more bearable.
“The purpose,” she said, lilting into an almost song-like timbre, “is a secret, and you’ll see why when you discern it.”
Hades sighed and reached up, pulling at the edge of his hood to better shield his face from the rays above. Persephone, in a manner so casual it almost screamed ‘Azem,’ had hers down, though a clasp of abalone and bronze held her hair up in a chestnut heap above her neck to allow for some air circulation.
“Such riddles don’t suit you,” he protested.
“And scarce does such protest suit you any better! Don’t frown at me so - your brow’s creasing down the middle, you know. At this rate, you’ll end up with deeper wrinkles than an auroch,” she teased. He stared her down for a brief moment before relenting, allowing his features to soften. “There. Aren’t you curious?” He knew better than to answer. A challenge of curiosity from Azem herself? He would sooner suffer the misery of another practicum at the Akademia than a failure at that.
“T’was not curiosity that brought me my seat on the Convocation,” he murmured, but he could not keep his gaze from falling back across the sands. Minutes passed, and the two stared out at the expanse. Minutes more passed, and Hades sighed, lifting his hand as he gave in to the challenge. A sharp ‘snap’ resounded through the air, and a rush of aether behind him signaled a fast summoning. His mount, ever-faithful, appeared behind him, settling down onto its belly with a breathless hum. Hades, too, sat down, smoothing his robe beneath him. The billowing fabric affixed to the creature’s back and shoulders provided ample shade, earning no small number of jealous looks from some of the people still working about.
“There are rumors of unrest at Elpis, you know.”
Azem looked over as he spoke, a soft smile tugging at the corner of her lips and disappearing again soon after. She ran her hand down Grani’s side, listening to the soft, magical hum that the creature emitted.
“Yes. The Fandaniel candidate, if I am not mistaken. You will have quite the time assessing him for readiness; he’s practically a hermit.” Hades let out a long sigh, his shoulders lifting and dropping with a bit of drama.
“Yes,” he responded, stretching the word out for a second or two. “As much as he may not find an interest in what the Convocation does, it is of the utmost importance and he will have to set aside his ego for the betterment of everyone.” Azem reached over while he talked, resting one hand atop the sorcerer’s own. Her fingers traced the lines of his, moving up his hand as though she were following visible lines of aether that snaked up his body, a road map to some unknown destination.
“Is that what you have done? Set aside your ego for the Convocation?” Hades turned his head towards her but his gaze sat over her shoulder, staring out across the steadily-emptying landscape. The setting sun behind them cast long shadows on the sandy expanse, and the sweltering heat of earlier began to give way to the unexpected chill of a desert at night. The time that passed was much shorter than how it felt, as seconds stretched on to what felt like hours while he contemplated his response. Just as he took in a breath and prepared to answer, Azem gestured wordlessly out across the dark sands, illuminated only by a breath of moonlight along the surface. Hades looked, and his eyes widened so much it seemed they would capture the afterimage in their depths.
What appeared to be wind stirring the grains of luminescent sand soon revealed itself to be something altogether different. So shocked he was unable to muster even a word, Hades watched as small creatures crawled up from the ground in droves without issue, moving like ghosts from the belly of the earth. The grains of sand around them did not move but for the disturbances their bodies made upon the surface; their weight was not so that their legs even disturbed the grains they stepped upon. A few rose near the two, even, and proximity allowed Hades to steal a closer look.
Small beetle-like creatures, their carapaces almost translucent in the evening light. When they moved, they cast a metallic sheen, some sense of movement from within their clear bodies making an optical illusion of them rolling and shifting along with the sand. He reached down, scooping his fingers into the swiftly-cooling earth and allowing the grains to sift through. The beetle remained in his palm, stubby legs crawling wildly in the air. His eyes grew more intense, brows furrowing while he examined the small creature’s aether, probing with his own to sense the signature of any creation that he had been heretofore familiar with.
Upon doing so, however, the beetle stopped moving, and the centermost point of Hades’ examination collapsed inward like a thin film of salt being doused in water. Grains of sand came pouring forth that were held within its body like a shattered hourglass.
“What!?” In alarm, his wrist curled up and he attempted to release the creature, but by the time he had done so, it was already reduced to dust in his palm. It fell, glistening and crystalline, to the sands below and mingled with them.
“Dynamis,” Azem informed, voice so quiet it seemed to have no breath behind it at all. “Fragile things. Supremely: to be too closely perceived by one of us, even, is to destroy it.” She reached out, taking hold of Emet-Selch’s hand in one of her own, the other brushing the remaining dust from his skin. “Completely original. To my knowledge, nobody created them. They simply are.”
“They – what --”
Persephone smiled. She gestured out towards the rest of the beetles, where some grew still and yet others lifted off from the ground, translucent wings beating ferociously in the air to bear the creatures ever higher.
“We – our aether -- are too powerful for them. You, especially. Just trust in what they do – it seems that they make more sand inside of them, and even when they perish, they just return to the dunes, where more come up. Isn’t it pretty, in a way?” Hades’ brow furrowed, his face scrunching up as he tried to find a word to describe what it was he thought, what he felt. Azem smiled, and leaned forward to rest her forehead against his. “Aren’t you going to ask why I brought you here?”
In response, he turned his head, and like the sun settling on sand, he kissed her. The moon rose, the ground lifted wing to the sky, and in the distance, the ocean wind touched the shore.

Best Forex Trading Platform
Users should be concerned with the user interface, rate of execution, safety features, and all the other extra attributes such as indicator systems or signal systems. Additionally, it provides users with direct real-time market access through its NiyoX markets and unlimited technical indicators, charting tools, and order types for enhanced trading support. Most are MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrading 5, because of their flexibility and with a huge number of apps providing full support. There is an advanced trading tool for the amateur trader just as much as the professional one, like the facilities on offer at cTrader. Accounts kept segregated will ensure that no funds are mingled, while access via mobile will make it easy to check in on their trades on the move. Another important element of successful trading is to select a low-spread, highly liquid platform offering top-of-the-class customer support. The trader can, therefore, make an informed decision about choosing a forex trading platform based on reputation and the validity of the broker's regulatory status. Profithills Education Pvt. Ltd. explains that in the successful execution of any trade, proper care must be taken over the kind of trading platform to be used, fitting in with a customer's needs in trading.
