I seriously adore Bruno and Razili. Their story, their relationship, their dynamic - it hits all the right notes for me. 🥺😭❤🥰

Putting the rest under cut, because I have quite a few more sketches to share!

So, here, we have a section where I was figuring out how to draw Leandra ';D I still am, somehow I can't seem to 'get' her features but I hope I will eventually!

The last picture features my two oc's: Dioselina and Daniela. Dioselina is the one challenging Leandra to an arm wrestling match and Daniela is at the back with Augustín both rooting for their respective friends :)

Chapter 6: Ballads and Bad Ideas

Spencer stared him down, then turned to look at Razili. “Captain, would the seer here have done any of that if it had been anyone else?”

Finally, the one sane person on this ship would set the record straight. He looked at her expectantly.

Why was she smirking?

“I doubt it.”

What.

“He still would've found a way to save everyone, but it would have taken longer and not used his Gift.”

What?

A few people cried out in dejection and Razili sighed, glancing at him with a mischievous glimmer in her eye that he did not like and didn't think he had seen before.

She sighed forlornly and leaned languidly against the rail with a shrug. “Just because he doesn’t want to kiss me doesn’t mean he doesn’t love me more than the rest of you. The man would still be languishing in prison without me, after all.”

Bruno blinked. This was… so far outside the realm of how he thought this day would go that even his Gift couldn't have seen it. That, plus the exhaustion and probably in no small part the alcohol, allowed the fatal words to escape his lips.

“Who said I don't want to kiss you?”

Summary: Bruno and Razili go to rescue the captives and get more than they bargained for.

The ship arrived later than expected, docking just as the sun was beginning to set.

“Rowdy bunch,” Razili muttered as she watched the crew hurriedly get the gangplank down, shouting and yelling all the while.

“Desperate bunch,” Bruno corrected. Their movements were hurried, rushed. And certainly not very careful as he watched two separate pirates trip over themselves in their haste to get off the ship. He glanced at Razili just to make sure it wasn't her doing, but her eyes were dark.

She hummed as she noticed it. “Odd. Do you agree?”

Bruno nodded. “Not exactly the atmosphere I would expect. In a rush, sure, but they seem…”

“Scared.”

“Exactly.”

Bruno felt something like dread twist in his gut and Razili’s expression showed the same, though perhaps pensive would be a better description.

They waited for a bit until it was truly dusk and crew members began to return hauling crates and bags of supplies. 

“Ready?” Bruno asked.

“Ready.”

Meet My and @optimistic-violinist 's Encanto OC, Razili Edel from Take Back the Kingdom (sort of) 

Full Name: Razili Edel

Age: 37

Height: 5'2"

Eye Color: Brown

Hair Color:  Nearly black/ dark brown

Occupation: Pirate/Witch/Former Queen

Languages: Yiddish (first language), German, Hebrew, English, Spanish, French, Greek

Voice (and face) claim: Ofra Haza 

Appearance: Light brown skin. She has long curly hair that she likes to wear down when practical. It’s usually not practical. She frequently wears it in either a single braid or a high ponytail with some sort of bandana. There is a scar on the bridge of her nose as well as one on her left eyebrow. Goes back and forth between skirts and loose fitting trousers and wears light colored long sleeved shirts with gathered cuffs and her stays on top. Her stays are nice enough she doesn’t usually bother with a third layer outside of her extremely recognizable purple pirate coat.

Relationship to canon: Bruno’s wife in our fantasy kingdom AU. It’s… complicated. Long story short, Bruno is immortal and is waiting for the kids to show up in the future, he doesn’t know when he sent them and 200 years in (including 150 years of fighting the conquistadors), he is very Not Okay™ and in serious danger of succumbing to his pretty much constant suicidal thoughts when he meets her.

General: Razili is at her heart a kind and nurturing person. However, she is also fiercely protective of the innocent/downtrodden and does not shy away from taking lives when she deems it necessary. She has lived through a lot of heartache but she doesn’t let it make her bitter. (In our AU magic comes from heartache but it’s only usable as magic if the person can be at peace with/accept the heartache. Razili is the one that taught Bruno this and helped him reconnect with his magic after being cut off from it for 200 years.) Due to her backstory and emotionally healthy outlook on life Razili is an incredibly powerful witch.

History: Razili is the youngest daughter of the king and queen of מקלט בטוח (Safe Haven (according to google, if anyone knows better please correct us)  Like the Encanto, Safe Haven is a hidden magical kingdom. It’s an island in the Mediterranean that was founded by Jews from Germany fleeing the First Crusade (1096-1099) by the time Razili was born they had lost a decent amount of the traditions of their ancestors. One of the things she did after leaving Safe Haven was reconnect with her Jewish heritage and faith.

When Razili was 25 she was the one member of the family (She had at least 2 brothers, we haven’t really fleshed her family out that much) to stay behind in case tragedy struck, which it did on that fateful trip, making her the next queen. She nearly married the son of one of her advisors but a week before their wedding she discovered that he and his father had been the masterminds behind her family’s deaths. Razili killed them both but as he was dying the son cursed Razili to freeze to the brink of death once a year for the rest of her life.

She ruled alone for a few years before picking a successor and leaving to travel the world. In 1698 on her first visit to the Caribbean she gets caught by witch hunters who are rounding up magic users to sell into slavery. This is where she meets Bruno who had also been caught. They go through a series of odd events together and end up as pirate co-captains. After the events of a fic we will eventually publish that includes a whole lot of character growth for Bruno, tracking down the witch hunters, angst, pining, UST, and a whole lot of denial on Bruno’s part, they get married.

There is sooooo much more to her that we are excited to eventually share. As for now Razili appears in the magic lesson chapter of Take Back the Kingdom, this valentine's day oneshot, and one of my entries for Encantober day 4: Cold

47. If it ever came down to it, who is turning to the dark side to save the other?

I honestly think it'd be Razili. She pulls Bruno away from the dark side that like, it feels she would slip to the opposite side of the spectrum to save him.

50. Who is the romantic?

I think it's Bruno. Once they actually get togethrt, it's definitely Bruno.

80. What tropes could be applied to this ship?

Historical romance, friends to lovers, best of the best where they're both the best in their respective fields, as well as a few redacted ones for now :D

31. How would they describe one another?

Bruno would describe Razili as kind, for her defining characteristic, but also beautiful, powerful, and a really good/talented leader.

Razili would describe Bruno as a good man, who is selfless and brave, even if he doesn't always see himself that way.

33. Which one give them "that look" when the other is acting like a fool?

Razili definitely has a look for Bruno when he's being cavalier about his own safety, but Bruno has a look/smirk when Razili is goofing off or having fun.

76. Are they soulmates? Do they believe that?

I want to say yes. Bruno eventually figures out that Razili is the person he saw in his vision of who he was going to marry. There are some other visions he has showing alternate timelines where he still ends up with her. Too many things in their stories line up (some of which still have yet to be revealed) for them not to be soulmates, and they definitely realize that :D

The Colombian Cryptid, Hallmark AU and Fairytail/arranged marriage AU sound very interesting, can you tell more about them please? 🥺

Okay let's do this. (It's going to be long)

(Spoilers for act I of TBTK) The Colombian Cryptid is a TBTK x Leverage crossover with the premise of: The Leverage crew gets called in to figure out how the tablet was stolen and get it back. Panadero told them it was probably Bruno. They can’t get into Bruno’s house so they decide to fake the original Lost People manuscript as a trap. Bruno does show up but ends up proving it’s a fake. The team slip a tracker on him but it just shows him going to wherever they set up shop in Bogota.

Snippet:

“I’m impressed, you figured out a lot more than most people but you missed something painfully obvious.” Bruno commented lightly, spinning around in Hardison’s chair to face them in front of the conspiracy board. “You found Mendez, Marcos and Mercedes but you missed the one staring you in the face.”

He lazily pointed over his shoulder at the print out of a modern copy of a lost people. Specifically at the author’s name.

Hardison’s eyes just about bugged out of his head. “What? Nah, man that’s— you can’t be…”

Bruno grinned a little “Your fake was a little too well done kid. I was a terrible book binder. You didn’t make it perfect but your intentional screw ups were a lot neater than my accidental ones.” He tucked his hands in his pockets. “Plus, you know, you don’t have the pages I never translated. I mean there are pages in the original Spanish that you don’t have, you just put the modern text through a translator. I am impressed with your translator by the way, very few grammatical mistakes.”

Parker added, “We tried to get the original Spanish from you but your house cheats.”

“I’m impressed you were able to get close enough to find that out. “Bruno responded with raised eyebrows.

Nate stepped forward, “So why are you here then? Why tell us you’re Bernardo?”

“Now that’s a good question.” Bruno began to pace. “See, usually, when someone starts poking around I just make them forget about me and we both go on our merry ways.

“But…?”

Bruno stopped pacing and raised a hooked finger to cover his lips. “But I recognize you,” he pointed at Eliot, “And it’s driving me nuts.”

Hallmark AU

This was an idea I was kicking around with @16magnolias. Basically it's a cheesy Hallmark modern AU where nothing hurts. Razili is a baker who just moved to a small town (the Encanto) and Bruno is a a famous author who has written a famous pirate romance under a pseudonym except he's stuck on the last book so he's come home hoping that will get rid of his writer's block. Problem is he hasn't actually told his family he's back yet. He hangs out in the bakery since that's one place not many of the Madrigal's are likely to visit (since they have Julieta). There's this whole thing with a baking competition and Razili volunteering at the library and befriending Oscar (After they get together they adopt him and Oscar actually gets both parents (and siblings) in this AU). Eventually Razili meets the Madrigals and she realizes who Bruno really is. I just have plotting for this one, nothing actually written.

Fairy Tale / Arranged Marriage AU

There are two AUs in this doc:

Fairytale AU

Razili is a Princess who has run away from an arranged marriage to a humperdink esque prince. She stumbles upon a house in the middle of the forest but there’s no one there except for some rats  and she’s exhausted so she ends up falling asleep in the armchair. 

Bruno is a hermit magician who has been cursed to forget that he's the Encantan Prince. When he comes home he moves Razili to the bed and leaves a note saying he'll help anyway he can if she's still here when he comes back in the evening.

It's a sort of voluntary beauty and the beast type situation. Theres something familiar bout him that she cant quite put her finger on. She realizes after a while that he reminds her of the boy she'd been engaged to before he disappeared years ago. 

The people of the nearest village try to warn her away from him (similar to Canon reputation) she chews them out because she's already half in love with him.

One of the villagers figures out who she is and humperdink shows up amd threatens to kill Bruno unless she comes with him willingly. She kisses Bruno goodbye and it breaks his curse. 

Razili and Humperdink leave. Two of his cronies loop back around on orders to kill Bruno but Bruno reveals himself to be a lot more powerful than he’s let on. 

Cut to the wedding, Razili is arguing with her parents and she learns that her engagement to Bruno was meant to protect their kingdom from Humperdink’s by the alliance it would form with the Encanto. But when Bruno disappeared they had no choice it was either she marry Humperdink or their kingdom would be invaded.

Now that she knows what’s going on she agrees to marry Humperdink to save her people.

Bruno bursts in during the ceremony and says she can’t marry Humperdink because she was promised to him first. Alma, Julieta and Pepa are with him and back up his claim that he is the Encantan prince. HUmperdink gets mad and challenges Bruno to a duel during which he reveals that it was him that hired the people who kidnapped and cursed Bruno. Humperdink loses but when Bruno turns away he tries to kill him and Razili saves him. They all leave  (Humperdink in disgrace and Bruno and Razili get married back in the Encanto.

Swan Princess AU

They met several times while growing up and became good friends. When Razili was 14 she realized she loved him. She was going to tell him on his birthday (17) but someone crashed the party and abducted him before vanishing.

The witch who took him was hired to get rid of him which she is choosing to interpret as not killing him. Instead she curses him to be a rat by day and a human by night. He has to return to the little house in the middle of nowhere she left for him every morning or he'll be stuck as a rat forever. 

I'm on the fence whether he keeps his memories or not

Razili shows up when she runs away from her new engagement to Humperdink and I’m not sure if she’ll recognize him or not. I’m thinking he doesn’t let her see him for a while? In any case similar ending to the the first Fairytale au

Our crew raids their first ship and discovers more than they bargained for

Suddenly being a pirate captain was something Razili never expected to happen and it was a bit of a whirlwind, if she was being honest. They had finally been out at sea for a couple weeks now and things were slowly, but surely starting to slip into a routine.

Included in this routine was the nightly argument about who would take the bed. She and the seer were both too nice and too stubborn, it seemed, to settle on a simple solution and so far had settled on taking turns.

Later, when she had gotten to know him better, Razili would wonder at the fact that it took so long for one of the seer’s nightmares to wake her up.

Razili was a pretty heavy sleeper, so she was confused when she woke up to the dark cabin and nothing seemingly out of place.

Then she heard it.

“Please no. Not like this.”
