At the Start
I’ve never been fond of the sound of a “bucket list”. Something about it always sounded kind of sad to me. Let’s call em' "adventure lists". That is, things I want to do, but have been too busy or preoccupied to focus on.Something that I’ve noticed about myself is that I'm at my best when I'm thinking about ways to go out and experience new things. I'm talking about a deep love for making lists of restaurants, cafes, bars, and food trucks that I want to try some day. I even make mental notes of what I would order at each place. I get this surge of excitement when I scope out concerts in surrounding states and plan out day trips based around that concert and mix in a bunch of sights I would want to see, popular foods I'd want to try, and other hidden gems to be explored into an epic concert adventure list. Let's not forget the undeniable feeling of accomplishment I feel when I FINALLY cross off recipes from my Pinterest boards and avoided burning down the house(whoop!).
I have found that I am more productive, more engaged and overall a happier person when I allow myself time to escape into one of my lists and release some of those bad vibes from life stresses. For this reason, I decided to create a blog to share my adventures! I am going to set them up as "bucket challenges", which are short lists of things that I would like to do or try out. The idea is to keep myself motivated to never stop seeking out the things that interest and excite me because those are the very things that provide balance in my life. My challenges will very likely range in style and type. A couple examples are: "Try the five highest ranked pizzerias in the nearest city", "Find eight ways to give back to the community", "Visit a dozen New England breweries", and "Climb your first mountain." My hope is that eventually others may start creating their own #TBLChallenge posts or try out some of the featured challenges mentioned here!
