Here are some architectural designs from The City and Country Builder’s and Workman’s Treasury of Designs by English garden designer Batty Langley (1696-1751), printed for and sold by Samuel Harding in London in 1745. The designs are for floors, ceilings, cabinets, and frames engraved in copper by Langley's brother Thomas Langley (1702-1751) after Batty Langley's drawings. Our copy is the 3rd edition, with the first printed by Jacob Ilive for Batty Langley in 1740. It would continue to be published through multiple editions to 1777.

i finally picked up my time at sandrock for my switch and so far my builder has stayed up so late that she had literal raccoon eyes under her eyes the next day and drank a potion that turned her blue, so she's doing very well for herself already

(especially fun because my headcanon backstory for her involved her being a formerly materialistic layabout who read stories about builders and decided that she could probably handle that life with Style™. she is Learning. fast.)

Pitter Pattern by Joyce Hesselberth

Lu notices a pattern while playing with her friends, then she notices another and another and quickly learns: patterns are everywhere!

This book helps build:

Vocabulary and Background knowledge: Lu names everyday objects as she describes the patterns she sees.

Phonological Awareness: the sound patterns Lu notices are broken down into their individual syllables.

Letter Knowledge: Lu sees patterns through out her normal day to day activities. Recognizing the a pattern of shapes leads to learning letters.

This book helps kids practice:

Reading: Pattern recognition is a foundational literacy skill, it lays the groundwork for recognizing patterns in word and sentence structures when learning to read.

Playing: See how many patterns your child can spot as you go through the story. Can they repeat them or make up their own?

Talking: Ask questions about the patterns Lu sees and compare them to what is around you.

Extend the book by making some art along with the author!

You'll need:

a piece of cotton fabric or a coffee filter

a small container and rubber bands that fit around the container

markers, either permanent or washable

rubbing alcohol for permanent or water for washable

a dropper or spray bottle

1. Using the markers, create a design.

2. Place the fabric over the container and secure with rubber bands.

3. Drop or spray liquid to make the colors run.

4. Remove from container and let dry.

he has eye bags and dark circles which is a given considering what he does and his lack of sleep. a few extra's!!:

A slight scar on his eyebrow from a fall off a fire escape in crime alley when he was 12. Never stitched it (despite the constant nagging from bruce & alfred). he said the blood made him look cool. (my angel baby i love him)

a voice that’s deeper than you expect. gravelly. like he chewed cigarettes for breakfast and chased them with glass. but it dips soft when he says your name. unbearably soft. traitorously tender.

faint cigarette burn on the inside of his left forearm. from back when he thought pain might be the only thing that made him real. said it was an accident. it wasn’t.
