Evaluation
Carmilla is worried that Vaggie is a permaregressor so she gets her evaluated by a therapist!
Vaggie had been acting a bit younger lately. Whenever Carmilla would ask how old she was, she would always respond with “i’m big” and try to escape the conversation. At first, Carmilla let her avoid it, knowing it may be overwhelming for her to talk about. But as the days went on, she never seemed to actually age up. She would always act like a little kid. Not exactly a toddler but maybe a 5-6 year old. Her little lisp would sometimes show when she was talking, she would be mesmerized by the toy aisle whenever they go out and would ask to buy one, she would get extremely distressed if anything sexual was ever mentioned, she needed help getting dressed, and she constantly needed reassurance.
Carmilla finally decided that she needed to go get it checked out by a permaregressor therapist. It would help her figure out what mental age Vaggie usually was. If they figured that out, then Carmilla could know exactly how to accommodate her need.
On the day of her appointment, Carmilla got Vaggie dressed and fed before buckling her in her booster seat. Since Vaggie was so short, even when she was “big” she would still have to use the booster seat. Luckily, she wasn’t very embarrassed by it.
They made it to the building where the therapist was. She helped Vaggie out of her seat and held her hand as they walked through the parking lot and into the building. The little one skipped happily and made sure to step over all the cracks in the road. She didn’t want her mama to get hurt!
When they got to the waiting room, Vaggie sat on the floor.
“Mija, come sit in the chair, the floor isn’t very clean,” Carmilla patted the seat next to her.
“No! I like the floor!” Vaggie protested. The overlord just sighed.
“Alright, alright, but don’t be surprised if you catch something. Your body isn’t used to hells germs,” Carmilla said. Since heaven had barely any germs, Vaggie’s immune system wasn’t the best. It didn’t know how to fight off sicknesses. They already had to deal with Vaggie’s body not liking the food of hell, they didn’t need her to constantly catch illnesses.
Vaggie played on Carmilla’s hellphone until she was called back. The therapist first spoke to Carmilla without Vaggie in the room. The little one didn’t like that and threatened to throw a tantrum but luckily, the talk wasn’t long enough to get her distraught.
But she did start to throw a small fit when she needed to be evaluated without her mama being there. She finally calmed down when Carmilla promised that she would be just outside the door.
The therapist called Carmilla back in after about an hour.
“So, I’m just gonna get straight to point. Vaggie, here, is a permaregressor,” she told Carmilla. The overlord honestly kind of expected this. It wasn’t too much of a surprise. It was just good to know. However, Vaggie looked up with tears in her eyes.
“Is that bad?” she asked.
“No, sweetheart, it’s not, it just means you’re almost always in a regressed headspace,” Carmilla kneeled down to her.
“How old is she usually?” Carmilla asked the therapist.
“Well, she seems to be in the headspace of an older toddler to a young kid. Does she regress to this age often?” she asked.
“No, not really. She’s mainly a baby regressor,” Carmilla explained, sitting down in one of the chairs and hoisting Vaggie onto her lap.
“Okay, well she may regress to baby sometimes but her normal headspace would be about 4-7 years old,” the therapist says, “but this shouldn’t change too many things. Just treat her how you would when she regresses. Remind her to do things, help her with certain activities, and just show her love and affection,”
Carmilla bounced her little one on her knee as she processed the information. She was glad there wasn’t anything that was damaging to her mental health.
They left the building soon after and Carmilla had to explain in a little more detail what the evaluation was. Luckily, she took it pretty well and didn’t have a meltdown over it once she explained that nothing would change. Even though it didn’t change anything, it was still good to know.

How to manage anxiety with Ayurveda?
Anxiety is one of the most common mental health issues today but the sad reality is no matter what you do, even simple existence can give you stress & anxiety, the problem occurs when anxiety starts to take over your normal life, consumes you & becomes overwhelming that it starts to hamper your routine activities.
Tumblr media
Anxiety is defined as intense, excessive & constant feeling of worry and fear about everyday things classified by the symptoms of faster heart rate, heavy breathing or sighing, sweating, nausea or vomiting, headaches, tiredness, you will encounter either one or many of these symptoms to know that our anxiety is real.
Anxiety in Ayurveda
Anxiety is often ignored in the name of stress & tension but it can lead to dysfunction of an individual, we do not talk about the crippling effects of it considering the taboo attached to mental health ✨.
Anxiety can be understood as an imbalance of the doshas, when vata dosha is secreted in excess & gets accumulated in Mano vaha srota of the nervous system. The raised levels of the vata dosha means that to create harmony we need to incorporate the other two doshasi.e Kapha & pitta as well.
Anxiety in Ayurveda can also be explained as having a cloudy/windy mind.
Balancing the doshas is the key ingredient to fight with anxiety.
Here are 5 tips to improve anxiety.
Be an early riser- Anxiety makes it difficult for the person to follow his daily life routine but getting up a little early in the morning will help you psychologically. You can get up to get a cup of herbal tea, and can take a brisk walk around. These will help you to give mental clarity.
Meditation 🧘‍♂️ and Yoga- The act of meditation has immense powers to heal and stabilize your mood. It helps you to connect with your own self in a spiritual way. The union of your mind with real you helps to have a new perspective. Exercising not only channelizes the energy in order for you to have better control but also stimulates your happy hormone secretion in the natural way making you feel better.
Eating Schedule - Food plays an extremely important role in every aspect of your life, your digestion is connected to your brain 🧠 and immunity. Assuming your digestive fire is similar to a burning furnace and food is the fuel, you should make sure to have a smooth digestive system so that the nutrients travel to other parts of the body in order to maintain a healthy harmony inside and ensure smooth functioning.
Breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen and dinner like a slave.
Eating at regular intervals at the right time is essential for balancing doshas.
#Eat your breakfast 🥣 somewhere between 7 to 9 o' clock in the morning.
#Lunch should happen between 12 to 1:30
at noon.
# Dinner timings should be between 5:00 to 7:00 o' clock
Fresh four squared meals 3 times a day can save you a lot of effort.
Ashwagandha - The premium herb is known to have been in Ayurvedic use for more than 3000 years. There's nothing like it, hailed as the queen of herbs because of it's adaptogenic property & abundant medicinal qualities.
Dried root powder of this herb 🌿 is used as the medicine can be combined with healthy fat such as ghee to be taken every day with a warm glass of milk.
The Ayurvedic Shirodhara- Ayurveda is the holistic science which firmly believes and acknowledges that a disciplined way to life can help you prevent a lot of health problems. It focuses more on prevention and causes of diseases than the cure.
The act of Shirodhara is the Ayurvedic way to calm your frayed nervous system. Shiro means head and dhara means stream, a stream of warm oil is gently and continuously poured onto the forehead to stimulate the blood circulation in the brain along with the pituitary gland in order. This process is known to provide a deep sense of relaxation in the mind and body, which helps the nervous system to soothe and heal on its own.
Write how you feel- Anxiety comes from a place of uncertainty, fear and doubt, write your everyday life on a piece of paper to pour everything out from your system. You can even focus on maintaining a journal.
Communicate - Human beings aresocial animals. As much as some of us may like to despise the idea of being with people, we all know that we need a few friends and family to communicate and survive. Share your problems and anxieties with people you love and trust. Do not hesitate to visit a therapist if needed.

We were able to get the booster shot for our kid! It’s not quite in time for him to rebuild his immunity before my family visits in a few days and before his trip, but it’s better than nothing.
I am doing a lot of cleaning and clearing away of clutter. It’s nice to see our house reemerge from underneath the chaos of all the stuff that has been displaced because of the bathroom construction and all the detritus of the past two semesters when I have not been able to keep things tidy because I’ve been too busy.
I have bought A LOT of books the past two years for school, plus I just buy more books in general than I used to because I like to support my friends and acquaintances who publish, and our book situation was wholly out of control. So I went through them and donated quite a few last week. That freed up bookshelf space so that I could at least get piles of books up off the floor.
I appreciate that not having such an all-consuming workload anymore has let me get a handle on other areas of my life. Like, for example I can clean my house now and cook a meal, two things I was wholly unable to do two weeks ago.
All my posts have been very boring lately. I just like recording the minutiae of my days, but lately (for a while now) that minutiae has been, well, boring.

10 days until school and I’m no more decided than I was a week ago. I flip flop ten times day about what might be best. A is sick of hearing me talk about it. He doesn’t disagree with my risk assessment but he is sick of talking about it.
It caused an issue with his friend, a friend who is his best friend and is unvaccinated and works in a jail. Months ago we told friend he could only visit (this place is their boyhood dream) once he’s vaccinated. Friend typically believes in science and is very health conscious but his gf is a moron Trump lover and her family the same and that’s who he’s been spending all his time with since this all started. When I asked friend why he’s not vaccinated he said he’s young & healthy, didn’t trust the vaccines, would do it when they got full fda approval. Plenty of young healthy people are dead of this. Anyway then I asked ok so what if you give it to someone who isn’t and dies, people incarcerated in the jail he works in and don’t have the luxury of social distancing, and he was like eh whatever. So yes friend is an asshole, but his best friend for decades, friend has always been kind of an asshole but has many redeeming qualities too. So we said no visit. But then in July when there was no covid here and no covid where he lives and we were blissfully living our covid free lives we loosened up and said he could visit with two negative tests. But then covid got bad again and when asshole friend contacted A the other day to say he took time off in late Sept to visit, A said sorry, it’s fully fda approved now you have no excuses not to vaccinate, we’re worried about our unvaccinated kids, and as of now you can’t visit but hey maybe if you get vaccinated and the numbers look better we can reassess in a month and you can come. Friend was a total dick about it, didn’t understand our point of view at all, stressed A about it, who was in a bad mood about it for days afterward.
Then there’s the neighbors. I had a chat with the kids and a chat with the mom. I framed it as we love them so much and I know they’re careful but I think we should all be more careful while the numbers are so rising (aka only outdoor hangouts) and we are careful but I’ve heard terrifying stories from doctor friends about kids and babies getting very sick, and they have a baby who I don’t want us to make sick, and she said she agreed. The kids have been pretty good about making the adjustment from constant sleepovers to playing outside but M keeps asking me “the kids need to pee are they allowed to use the bathroom, the kids are hungry are they allowed to come inside even for one minute for a snack,” and I feel like the villain (I’ve been saying yes to pee, snacks I’ll bring out). Everyone’s been understanding but nobody is getting what I mean when I say only outdoor socializing. All the kids keep asking me when I’ll take them to town again for ice cream, “but it’s outside” (um yeah but the car’s not), asking their mom to ask me for sleepovers even though they know what the answer will be. The other day they were playing in our yard then it started raining and they were like “we can’t walk home in the rain”- I don’t want them to walk home in the rain, but again the car is indoors!- so I drove them home (but made M stay at our house). They’re not my kids so I can’t make them wear masks and it feels like now I am in the position of being the mean parent who’s psycho about covid, which in a way I am, but it would help me to stick to my guns and feel okay about sticking to them if the government policies matched the severity of the situation, ie mask mandates in public places (instead of stores posting polite recommendations), vaccine mandates, virtual learning options, etc.
Which brings me to school. After selling M hard on real school, then I sold her hard on home school. She already “did” 3rd grade last year (as much as me teaching her in my pajamas counts as doing), but this district has an earlier cut off than the city, so she’s in 3rd grade again here. Which is fine by me- her birthday is the same day as the very late nyc cut off (12/31) and I hated that she was the absolute youngest. I used to beg the school to hold her back and they’d say “but why she’s doing so well!” not understanding that I was thinking ahead to the teen years. But anyway, despite her haphazard pj’d professor, she seemed to learn a lot last year so homeschool this year could basically be unschool. She’d traipse around the forest identifying birds and trees with A and her brother, reading for pleasure, and I’d spend an hour here and there reviewing some worksheets with her so she’d be on track when she starts real school after she gets vaccinated. She was into the idea, until she found out she and one of the neighbor kids are in the same class. Now she absolutely wants to go to real school, AND ride the school bus. The school bus part makes me very nervous. While there is now a school mask mandate (but will it be enforced? what are their lunch procedures, what % of teachers are vaccinated, what % of the older kids in the same building as the little kids are vaccinated, did they actually really update their ventilation system?) and a bus mask rule, it’s a long rural route (15 min drive or 45 min bus) and I have no faith that bus windows will be open and all riders will be masked the whole time.
So just tell her she can go to school but has to be driven by a parent, right? Not so simple. I was offered a job at a (somewhat, commuting distance) nearby nonprofit- an easy low stress job in a bastion of liberalism with very very nice smart coworkers, excellent work life balance, a writing job that sounds made for me, like the job description is exactly what I would put together if I were putting together my dream job (except the pay, which is half what I was making at a fancy DC nonprofit, but high for this area, and our housing cost is half so it should be fine if A can get away from little guy long enough to bring in some money too). It’s mostly remote but approx one day a week in the office and some days there will be things I need to attend out in the community (not necessarily our community, they serve the whole region). It won’t always be the same day in the office and the office is an hour away- so on those days A would have no car to get her to and from school, since I’d need to leave before school starts and get home after it’s done. So I guess we need to buy a new car? Aside from this issue we really don’t need a second car now, were planning to get one eventually, but not until A’s business has enough projects to justify the cost.
Despite its many demands/challenges/ stressors, home school is sounding easier to me at this point (especially because she already did this grade), except she WANTS to go to school. Someone talk me out of putting some lipstick and a pantsuit on her and taking her to get vaccinated. I know, I know: the 5-11 dosage is 1/3 of the 12-adult dosage. The doctors I’ve spoken to are split on this hypothetical kamikaze mission. The doctors I’ve spoken to are also split on me and A going to a pharmacy now for booster. It’s been almost 6 months since our 2nd dose. We do not have compromised immune systems. This county has way more doses than demand and I would feel better sending M to school (bus or not) if we had our boosters and she had a first dose- moral and scientific quandaries aside- because there is A LOT of covid here now, a lot of covid everywhere now, and I feel like we are returning to regular life at the time when we should be most hunkered down.
Which brings me to the data. Per capita there are as many known cases here as in nyc, except nyc has a 50% higher vax rate, much more mask usage, better medical system. People are not getting enough tests here, there is a higher positivity rate, and so I think the actual number of cases is much higher than the reported number of cases. It seems like, friends here and in the city and in the suburbs (I just broke up with a friend in the suburbs because she professes to be a good democrat but is hosting a bonafide super spreader event and vacationing in a place with 39% positivity and a collapsed health care system), are thinking of covid as something you catch from strangers- they wear masks in stores- but aren’t careful at all around close friends and family (so many extended family gatherings, so many, cousins and grandparents and half-siblings and aunts and uncles and whoever), when this is a disease that kills via the people you love most, the ones who’d never intentionally hurt you.

someone just said to me that “maybe everyone should just get covid” so we’ll be done with it. and if it kills you, it kills you - that’s just bad luck. because this lockdown upon lockdown and booster campaign on booster campaign cant go on forever because it destroys society and the economy.
I mean beside the fact that getting covid doesn’t mean you’re immune...
1 - if people are sick or dead they’re not going shopping.
2 - people who have to stay home with sick relatives aren’t going to buy a sofa or new shoes
3 - hospital staff everywhere are already overworked (times 1000) if all restrictions were dropped right now they wouldn’t be able to handle the number of people needing help. For covid or other things.
4 - I’m sure online learning sucks for kids - but if they’re sick or dying they won’t learn anything either.
5 - on a completely shallow and selfish note: I haven’t been hiding in my house for almost 3 years now to catch the damn plague after all!

Some Pathologic 2 Tips!
Hey! Thought I’d add some tips to helping people play Patho 2 if they’re struggling, because I totally understand games reaching a point where you can’t enjoy the story because of how hard it’s become. These tips are intending to ease some of the meter management in the game, though they are aimed primarily at the first couple of days, because I’ve always found that how I prepare in the first three days goes a long way to determining how difficult my playthrough is. These tips are just from how I’ve played it, I understand a lot of people do things very differently! But these have got me through no deaths and no character death runs on intended difficulty before.
No major spoilers in this section, but I will add a spoiler to day 1 guide in the reblogs, for if anyone is intending to do a second playthrough or something.
Combat
·         Combat in pathologic can be tricky! If you want to go for few deaths or are struggling with deaths in the streets, it’s really good to remember that you don’t have any obligations to fight outside of the certain event on day 9.
·         Running inside buildings will always despawn muggers. In infected and burnt districts, every single building is unlocked and can function this way. In regular districts, you can use shops and character houses for this purpose. When they’re following you, this is a good idea, so you can get back to your trash can hopping.
·         My advice is to just run past enemies if you can! This is how I did my 0 deaths run, and they shouldn’t be able to catch up to you if you’ve got a head start on them, muggers don’t usually have good items anyways. Don’t be afraid of drinking water to keep your stamina bar high- you can always refill the bottles.
·         If you end up in a space where you have to or want to fight, good weapon durability is very important! Guns jam a lot if not well cared for, and knives kill people VERY quickly when full durability and used as a strong attack. I tend to grab things from bins (kids caches are a good place to find straight razors) and keep the knife from Lara’s cupboard in day 1 at full durability.
·         I don’t actually recommend saving up for the gun on day 1, you can probably afford it on day 2 anyways, but I find it dissuades you from using your money from getting cheap food on day 1, and encourages you to fight. You get some money guaranteed on day 2, and you can harvest the dead mugger’s organs outside of the dead item shop on night 1 to sell to Var for a lot of day 2 money.
·         Trading water with drunks for bandages may seem tempting but I’d recommend only doing this if you really need to (it’s always best to have some bandages, but I mainly buy them from stores) because having a lot of water is very important for tinctures- I talk about this later on.
Resources
·         I would recommend always selling rings, pocket watches and bracelets for cash in stores- these go for a lot and are worth more that way than trading usually.
·         Shop in stores! This helped me so much on my second playthrough, especially little items like safety pins, threads, needles and nuts. These are both really good for trading, for repair and they don’t cost much. Stock up on them.
·         Spend most of your day 1 money on food like bread (and nuts are always good to get), and then store it. Having a good stockpile of food is great for later on- this also goes for trading teenagers for smoked fish in the first couple of days. I tend to have food going spare when I do this.
·         Water bottles! This is a huge one for me, I find water to be a big limiting factor late game when you need a lot of tinctures, so stock up big in the days where the pipes are still working. Loot every trash can for empty water bottles, you should hopefully have around 50 filled bottles by the time the plague hits and you’re making tinctures.
·         In the first couple of days, you need to stock up on a lot. Store things in the cupboard against Big Vlad’s front door and at the food cabinet in Lara’s house so you don’t lose it, before you get the Lair.
·         Being able to create a lot of tinctures is a huge deal. Herbs are abundant in certain locations, go to these places on a night (so you can see the glow of the flies around them) and stock up: the Crowstone, the Ragi Barrow, the Gumstone (stone formations in the steppe). Additionally, the little river islands behind Artemy’s lair usually have a lot, and there are 3 herb rings in Shekhen that have A LOT that you shouldn’t miss when you’re there.
·         I don’t tend to bother with giving blood to the ground, for the herbs are very abundant in the steppe and blood sells (so do a lot of organs, no reputation drop at all if they’re taken from the hospital, and you’re in a financial squeeze.)
·         Always having a stack of walnuts is a great idea, they trade with little girls for 5 (the only NPCs to have shmowders). Safety pins, buttons, raisins and marbles are also very good here. Try to use the different children’s trade priorities to your advantage, and always buy nuts in grocers if you can.
·         Trade with kids as much as possible! Taking detours to visit playgrounds is important, and always having enough to trade with shmowder girls is a big deal.
Plague
·         So you can make a lot of tinctures- it’s very important, to keep a lot of tinctures on you for prophylaxis and diagnosis. Maxing out the public fund on plague days will give you all the resources you need for the day and more, lots of money for shops, food and sometimes antibiotics. I can’t recommend doing this enough, if you have time.
·         This is where tinctures and antibiotics are important (I tend to buy antibiotics from the shops to keep up with this, though organ antibiotics also work), after you’ve done your daily hospital task, you’ll need to treat some random people still to maximise the bar. You can do this in the street or in the hospital, if I remember correctly it’s about 3 people a day, and it’s very worth it.
·         Use your basic tinctures for this, and try to always use your + tinctures for prophylaxis of main characters.
·         Stock up on immunity boosters by trading with kids in the first couple of days, try to use these to boost your immunity when you need to, rather than tinctures to save them for other stuff. They also tend to be relatively cheap in stores- keep stocked up.
·         Having clothing items in all slots and keeping them at good durability helps with immunity too- this is where buying little items from shops all the time comes in handy. And repairing when durability hasn’t gone down much is always cheaper, sometimes it’s more effective to just buy a new item of clothing to replace the old one rather than repairing it.
·         Infected houses are great for dead items- Fellow Traveller has a shmowder but you can’t afford it? Pop into an infected house and stock up.
