Ahhh this means everything to me- thank you so much for responding, this made my week!!! It makes me happy to hear that you read this at the beginning of your fandom experience bc I do like to see it as something nice and soft to counter the absolute brutal experience of playing pathologic 2 (especially for the first time!). It was my first ever fic and it holds a special place in my heart still.

Artemy and Daniil are MADE for the pining slowburn- narrative foils slowly coming to love and understand each other? Perfect perfect perfect, it was such a joy to write a longfic wound around that building relationship and understanding (and with the kids thrown in there too, they ended up being my favourite part I think hehe). It’s the best news I could hear that it helped to contribute to your descent into the pathologic rabbit role, what a compliment! And thank you for creating such beautiful art of the Burakhovsky relationship that lives so vividly in my head too- I can’t wait to go back and see what else you’ve created for this game. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Not me getting back into patho while JTB is only 21 kudos from 1k (which will be the first patho fic on ao3 to reach 1k!!!!) and less than a hundred hits from 30k!!!! Gahhh I miss this little family so much, and I still can’t believe how many people have read my silly little fic about them forming a life following the plague. It really does mean the world.

Has he ever told you of the similarities the two of you bear? That you could end up in a position similar to his-and vice versa? That being an inevitable victim of circumstance is the only fate available to a genius? I ask you to be precise. A lot of things hinge on your answer.

finishing up my first patho 2 playthrough in SO long and honestly I missed the fuck out of these characters, maybe I WILL write some more burakh family time...

Are there any plans to continue the Long Roads Home series? Just the Beginning is so good and it would be really cool if it was just the beginning of their journey

I did have plans for 2 more fics in this universe- yes! I had started writing one where the family venture out on Murky's promised trip to the sea, though it was going to be entirely Artemy POV and with some heavier undertones to the main fic. It would be exploring the coastal city, with Artemy feeling the loss away from home (and to a lesser extent, Murky as well) while Daniil comes to realize how much he misses city life and the connections there- all the small comforts that the Town-On-Gorkhon can't provide. I also wanted to look into Sticky feeling a similar connection to the city, and Artemy realizing that it's what calls to Sticky, and that he'll eventually be having to say goodbye to his son (because Sticky would more likely follow in his footsteps and go away to study medicine).

That would lead into a third fic in their series where Daniil departs to investigate what happened to Thanatica and truly be able to make the decision what to do with his life, with the unknowns about his lab finally understood.

I had a bunch of oneshots in mind too, little snippets of the kids growing up, a steppe wedding etc. I'd still like to revisit some of these ideas one day- hopefully when the Bachelor route drops it'll inspire me to come back to writing for these characters, I would love to do so, they feel like home. And I can't wait for the Bachelor route!!!
