Can I get a yandere Lohan with noble fem reader. Tq
(not what I had in mind, but still like it! Also, nothing that I could make for him with a noble....)
Tumblr media
Lohan X Noble! Reader
Tumblr media
✥ Lohan dating a noble is not too far fetched, but it is harder for you to accept his proposal as compared to if you were a commoner. Commoners will do anything to rise up to fame and if the emperor himself asks for a marriage proposal who would refuse? But as a noble, you could accept it, even if you would be known as a bit of 'stuck up' .
✥ But it's fine, Lohan would still somehow get your family to accept his proposal or if you want to go to the lovers route, he would probably meet you in one of his banquets and sooner or later he ends up courting you, nobody really knows of your relationship because Lohan has connections.
✥ Either way, he would slowly and slowly get more possessive and would refuse to let you out of your own room or out of his sight, it would become a problem as you wouldn't be able to fight because his manipulation skills keep you form doing so....
✥ He keeps you locked up in one room for your protection and he visits you every one hour to see how you're doing, in between work, meals or meetings, during those times, he will show you affection you need, kisses, gifts, smiles, jokes or hugs
✥ Oh speaking of spending time, he eats meals only with you, no one else! Eating with someone else makes him lose his appetite and he feels like throwing up, he can't help it and even if he does try to eat and doesn't feel anything for some time, but after they leave he gets all sick and has to take rest of the day off....
✥ Oh, he brings you jewellery from all over the capital or the entire empire, he enjoys decorating you like a doll, no matter what you say! Oh, one thing, he loves to buy hair jewellries or hair accessories to decorate your hair, because he finds someone's hair playing a huge role in their personality!
✥ Also, whenever you wish to do some different type of hairstyle, he has the best hairstylists ready to do anything you want! He would love to see you rock any type of hair, long hair, braids, short hair, wolf cut, bangs, curls, straight or wavy, doesn't matter, he finds you beautiful no matter what!
✥ By hair, I don't only mean ladies, NO NO NO! I mean men as well, he would love to see you have beautiful curls, waves or maybe shoulder length hair or maybe wolf cuts or maybe something matching his hair!
✥ He would love to sea you wear his clothes, they might either look big on you or maybe fit just right depending on your body type, he also finds matching clothes with him, so you both wear matching clothes, like him and his husband/wife/spouse wearing beautiful dresses and similar jewellries while they end banquets, parties or meetings!
✥ He teaches you how to make resin art, I think he knows how to make some resin art, because maybe Croa Empire has like this tradition for couples to make some resin art together? I don't know, but I headcanon this a lot, so why not?
✥ By resin art, don't only mean like some beautiful frame, no jewellery, daggers, clips, utensils, book marks, portraits, buttons, boxes, coasters, spoons, bowls, etc. And maybe, just maybe you enjoy making it with him!

Tell me some of your quillkiller headcanons 🤲
i would love to!!!!
so i’ve talked about some of my hc’s before (while drunk…..) here and kara my beloved talked about her hc’s pretty recently here and i agree on every single thing (obviously) <3
me and kara can go on and on about them……… and if either of us say anything about them it’s pretty much always safe to say we’ve yelled about it in detal in our texts beforehand ahdhjsjdjf
so i’ll try to talk about other ones!!!!
to me, and honestly the main reason i was so drawn to them, they’re both giant man hating dykes. i love a lot of other wlw ships but most of them are always so deeply involved with their male friendships (marauders or skittles) but neither rita or bella have this/are apart of this. they’re both just manhating dykes and don’t understand why anyone would willingly form relationships with men if they don’t have to
which is interesting when it comes to bella, because she’s the one who eventually has to. she marries rodolphus, and she’s always known that even if she is a lesbian it doesn’t matter. she doesn’t have authority over her own life and she’s never even entertained the idea that she would. not even when andy and sirius leave. she just sees that as betrayal and weakness, and thinks her self sacrifice means strength.
however! bella and rita still sleep together after bellatrix gets married. it doesn’t really change anything. bella didn’t marry for love and she’s highly aware that rodolphus didn’t either. i personally don’t even think they slept together since they didn’t have children. rodolphus is just bellatrix’s husband, and in pureblood families that doesn’t necessarily or even usually involve being in love. bella is a lesbian and rita is the love of her life and letting her go simply because she has a ’husband’ genuinely doesn’t make sense to her (if u want hc’s about rodolphus go to @sugarsnappeases ……. ive been eating them up)
rita is unmarried in canon, which to me also solidifes the theory that she’s a dyke. she’s more free than bella, so she just never marries. wouldn’t even touch a man with a gun to her head
rita’s taller than bella!!! bella is the shortest black sister and i hc rita as quite tall. i’d say she’s atleast a head talled than bellatrix
ive said it before and i’ll say it again: rita is the more morally fucked up one when they first meet. bella is a small minded teenage girl with doormant dark urges. she’s always been a follower. rita is manipulative, morally corrupt sneaky, selfish and a cheat. she’ll do almost anything if it gives her what she wants. she’ll spill peoples secrets, stalk people, blackmail, threaten. bella, being a follower, devotes herself to rita like a dark knight, sees a freedom in rita that she’s endlessly drawn to.
they get together in 6th or 7th year and bellatrix is the one to kiss rita first. rita’s been pining for years but was never going to embarrass herself by showing her cards, making herself vulnerable. they’ve been friends since third year and bella sneaks into the ravenclaw common room almost every night
neither of them actually thinks it’s going to last, both painfully aware of their situations. especially bella’s. but they keep whispering empty promises to each other.
it DOES last. even though bella gets married. they’re still seeing each other, neither of them willing to stop. rita even thinks it’s enough. then bella meets voldemort and everything goes downhill from there because rita might be fucked up, but its always been for selfish reasons. for her own gain. she’s not a follower like bella— and even rita can’t follow down this path of genocide and war. she’s actually shocked to realise she has a limit
rita’s a natural redhead but spells her hair blonde. bella is the only one who knows.
bella loves buying rita things. clothes, jewellry, quills, expensive papers. rita loves recieving gifts.
they make each other laugh a lot. i know it’s a popular hc that they’re just miserable and toxic all the time, but that’s not my truth. yeah they’re both morally fucked up, but they’re happy. they make each other happy and they joke, mess around, play fight, do pranks, send each other notes in class. they’re also just teenage girls to me <3 neither of them are evil when they’re at school
their first time is out on the quidditch pitch behind the bleachers on an especially hot summer night right before summer hols. it’s nervous and gentle, trembling hands undressing each other
they’re attached at the hip at school, except for classes when they have to be apart. you almost never see them apart. to me they’ve never been enemies to loves. they’ve always been unlikely friends to lovers
some of my hc’s!!!!!! thank you for this ask i love talking about my girlies <3

Jhumka gira re
//
The main street running through the bazaar was crowded with people, the enlightened lanterns in each shop giving a rustic, festive look to the arena. The aroma of hot jalebis, sweets, and other savoury dishes dispersed with the dhup (incense) scent of various flowers which the shopkeepers lit to keep the mosquitoes and other insects away. The cacophony of the mingled sounds did not appear as bothersome to the two people swimming through the ocean of men, women, and children alike.
Bheem was walking at a leisurely pace, unlikely for him, mostly because he was almost stopping at each halwai’s shop to take in the delicious aroma of the frying oils and mouthwatering delicacies. His legs halted at one such foodstall where the man was frying fresh jalebies, catering to a small crowd which had accumulated at the shop. Bheem saw the halwai - he was wearing a typical white dhoti with a vest and a gamcha on his shoulders which he was using every 10 seconds to wipe off the sweat from being near the big-ass, hot kadhai as he was pouring the batter and frying the jalebis in perfect little concentric circles. The curly haired man could just stand there and watch the process for hours.
He donned a thick moustache, with furry brows which were concentrated on the action as he was humming an old song while working. Much to Bheem’s delight, he was healthy, the belly trying to defy the confines of the vest. Not to be offensive, but Bheem thought that the best of the halwais have to be on the healthier side, because then it meant that they really loved to eat and feed people. They truly would be passionate about it.
“Kya mol hai jalebi ka?” (What price is the jalebi?) He asked.
“Teen aana ser!” (Three aanas for 1.250 kg.) The guy answered.
“Hmm…Bhabhi tum-” (Sister-in-law would you…) The older man turned to find his companion missing. His initial reaction was to panic, of course. Before he could have a tiny heart attack, fortunately he spotted his companion at a shop two shops away, standing far behind, at a shop of jewellry.
The man heaved a sigh of relief as he skipped back, telling the halwai that he will be back.
Seetha was staring, stiff as a statue at a pair of jhumkas hanging by the side. They were beautiful, oxidised silver maybe, with typical dome-like shape with intricately woven metal design and small ghunghroos in the periphery of the hemispherical structure. They shone just the right amount when the light of the lanter fell on them, making them look sparkly.
She did not realise she had screeched to a halt dreaming about how they would look on her, until a hand on her elbow shook her out of the reverie. “Ohh! Bheem! Maaf karna mujhe main-” (Oh, I apologise I-)
“Kya hua? Tum achanak aise ruk gayi.” (What happened? You just stopped here?) Bheem looked at her, his worry morphing into concern as he caught glimpse of tears at the corner of her eyes. “Bhabhi, sab theek?” (Bhabhi, sab thik?) he asked gently.
Seetha shook her head, conjuring up an instant smile. “Han bilkul! Chalo! Tumhe mila kuchh khane ke liye? Mili koi jagah jahan ki khusboo mein woh kashish ho?” (Yes, of course! Come on! Did you find something suiting your tastes? Did you finally find the shop where the aroma was intoxicating as you desired?) She teased, but the grin did not reach her eyes.
Bheem thought for a moment how to approach her, having seen her line of sight where she had been viewing, still as a statue, with desire in her dark brown orbs. Maybe she wanted to buy something for herself? But he had never seen her wearing something fancy, mostly bare minimum with the most bland shades and simple attire.
He stepped forward and took the same pair which Seetha had been eyeing in his hands, not taking it off the stand. “Kitna khubsoorat hai na ye jhumka?” (How beautiful is this earring, isn’t it?)
“Han! J    enny par khoob jachega. Uske liye le rahe ho?” (Yes! It will look magnificient on Jenny. You are thinking of buying for her, right?)
Ughh! She was more stubborn than his anna. However, the gond man was not the one to back off, and neither he was the one to mince his words. They were close enough now, after months of friendship and working in close quarters. “Main tumhare liye keh raha hoon!” (I was asking for you!) his voice took a slightly stern note.
To his irritation, Seetha only laughed. “Tumne kabhi pehle mujhe iss tarah ke gehne pehne hue dekha hai?” (You’re being silly. Have you ever seen me in such fancy stuff before? This is too much.)
“Iska matlab yeh thode hi hai ke tum kabhi pehno hi nahi?” (That doesn’t mean you cannot wear it ever.)
“Bheem! Rehne do. Tum agar lena chaho, toh Jenny ke liye le sakte ho, warna chalo aage. Waqt zaya nahi karte fizool baaton aur fizool kharchi mein.” (Bheem! Leave it. If you want to buy it for Jenny, then please do. Or else let us not spend time on unimportant things and waste money.)
“Seetha! Uff! Tum-” (Seetha! Uff! You-)
“Kya?” (What?) she raised her voice a bit as well. “Main kya? Kuchh ghalat kaha maine?” (Me what? Tell me how am I in the wrong here.) She regretted the anger instantly, which deflated like a pack of cards, “Main us tarah ki ladki nahi hoon…” (I am not a girl who…)
But bheem was really irked now. “KIS TARAH KI LADKI NAHI HO? Jo apne liye koi bhi wo cheez na kharide jo use pasand hai? Jo kabhi apne kiye ek pal bhi na soche? Jo-” The man clenched his jaw shut because the next sentence he was going to say would have been extremely inappropriate.
(A GIRL WHO WHAT? The one who does not buy a pretty thing forherself once in a while? The one who does not think about her happiness? The one-)
“Jo kya? Batao Bheem! Jo kya?” (The one who what? Finish the sentence Bheem!)
“Nahi.” (No.)
“Thik hai, main kehti hoon jo tumhare mann mein tha.” her tone went eerily calm. “Jo kisi ki mangetar ko kar bhi vidhva ke jaise jee rahi ho. Yahi kehna chahte the na?”
(Fine. Let me finish it for you. The one who has a living, breathing fiance but still chooses to dress like a widow. This is what you wanted to say, didn’t you?)
“NAHI!” (NO!) He denied outright. Seetha glared at him. “Umm- bilkul un shabdon mein nahi.” He added sheepishly. “Lekin main yeh zaroor kahunga, ke iss tarah apni har ek hasrat ka gala ghotne ki zaroorat nahi hai.”
(Umm- not in those exact words. But I will say this, that don’t squish your desires like a bug in the night. There is no need.)
Seetha smiled at her companion. It was a short-lived, tiny smile. “Bheem, sach kahun?” He nodded his head. “Ab aadat si ho gai hai. Meri sari sakartmakta, mera vishwas, mera dridh nishchay, mera vishwas ke hum jeetenge, mera junoon, sab Ram ko sambhalne mein vyay ho gaya hai. Uske jaane ke baad bhi usi ke liye jiya. Uske na hone ka ehsaas jo pal pal mujhe khaaye jaa raha tha- Bheem! Tumne uske Dilli se likhe gaye khat nahi padhe, jab wo wahan bilkul akela tha. Main…” She brushed away a tear. “Main tumhari bohot bohot shukraguzaar hoon ke tum uski zindagi mein aaye.”
(Bheem, may I be honest? It has become a habit now. All my positivity, my optimism, my perseverance, and my belief that we will win- all has been spent up on Ram. Even after he left, it felt like I was only living for him. This absence chipped away at me minute by minute- Bheem! You have not read the letters he sent from Dilli which he sent when he was utterly and completely alone. I… I am so very grateful to you that you found him and came in his life when you did.)
This time, her smile was genuine, grateful. Although Bheem was glad, the gratefulness did not settle well with him. Seetha should not be thanking him! They were in the middle of the bazaar and even though Bheem wanted to know more, and knock sense into his friend- very literally, this was not the right time and place. All the curly haired man knew was he was buying Seetha the pair. And one for Jenny too, he already had his heart set on the one next to it.
Just as he turned to ask the shopkeeper how much they cost, there was another young man, his hands clasped with a young woman, radiating joy who asked to see that particular pair. “Ji woh…” (Umm those-) Bheem started politely, with Seetha behind him, “Woh darasal main khareed raha hoon. Aap koi aur kyun nahi le lete?” (Actually I am buying those. Why don’t you look for another pair?)
The guy seemed disappointed. “Lekin Shobha, meri mangetar ko ye sab se zyada pasand hain.” he tried to argue. (But Shobha, my fiancee, she has her heart set on them of all!)
“Bheem!” A hand landed on his arm. “Theek hai. Shayad mere nasib mein nahi hain ye jhumke. Bhaisahab aap hi le lijiye.” (It’s okay. They are not for me anyway. Please you buy them for your fiancee.) She glanced at the couple, giddy in each others presence, and she could sense the love radiating off them in waves. A cloud of sorrow shrouded her once more and her face fell in defeat. It all happened in an instance and Bheem, in this moment, only wanted to run back to the village and punch Ram in the face. A couple of times at least.
“Dekhiye main yeh apni bhabhi ke liye khareed raha hoon, meri iltija hai aapse ke aap koi aur dekh lein.” (Look! I am buying this for my sister-in-law. I really beg you to reconsider.) The man looked at his fiance once who gestured it was okay. He shrugged, “Thik hai!” (Fine.)
“Aapka bohot bohot shukriya!” (Thank you! Thank you so much!)
“Bheem! Kya kar rahe ho?” (What are you doing, Bheem?)
“Main khareed raha hoon yeh tumhare liye.” (I am buying them for you.)
“Iski koi zarurat nahi.” (No.)
“Hai! Tum meri bhabhi ho, kya ye rishta koi maayne nahi rakhta?” (YES! You are like a sister to me! Does that no mean anything to you?) The puppy eyes were at full attack.
“Maine tumse kya kaha tha?” (What did I say to you about this?) Seetha stood there, crossing her hands.
“Meri ye harketein sirf Ram aur Jenny par kaam karti hain!” (That the puppy eyes and emotional blackmail works only on Ram and Jenny.) He pouted. Seetha smiled at his adorable nature. “Lekin main sahi mein tumhe tohfa dena chahta hoon. Main ek Jenny ke liye bhi le raha hoon.” (But I really do want to gift you these. I am buying one for Jenny too!)
“Bohot khushnaseeb hai woh ladki!” (That girl is the luckiest!)
“Kya Ram kabhi tumhare liye-” (What? Ram never- for you?) Seetha shook her head. “Woh kehta hai tumhe jo chahiye tum khud laa sakti ho. Meri kya zaroorat hai?” (Well, he says I can buy whatever I need or want for myself. There is not need for him to be there.)
“Ughh!! Nihaayati bewakoof hain wo! Ghar pohonch kar unki khabar leta hoon main.” (He really is the dumbest person! I will knock some sense into him when we get home.)
Seetha chuckled out loud. It was the sweetest sound. “Main nahi rokungi tumhe!” (I would not stop you.) She jested.
“Thik hai. Toh tay raha. Hum ghar jaa kar khabar le rahe hain unki.” (Good. Deal. We go home and kick his idiotic ass.)
He turned to the shopkeeper who was busy with other customers. “Bhaisahab, ye jhumke kitne ke diye?” (Mister, how much do these earrings cost?)
“Dedh rupiya pura.” (One and a half rupee.)
“KYA? Itna zyadam dam?” (WHAT? This is too pricey!) Seetha gawked from behind, nonplussed. “Bheem yeh toh bohot mehenge hain. Rehne do, chalo.” (Leave it, Bheem. They are too expensive.)
“Lekin behenji aap karigari to dekhiye. Itni baariq aur safaimand aapko kahin iss mol mein mile toh main dukaan band kar dunga.” (But madam, look at the ornate design. If you find such intricate and polished work elsewhere in these parts, in these prices, I will close my shop.)
Bheem too was stumped. Not only because of the price, but because he wasn’t sure he had that amount on him. They already had done the supply shopping, the heavy bags at the owner’s place which they were going to carry after taking a walk in the bazaar while returning. He quickly took out the remaining amount and counted. It was exactly one and a half rupees left. He would not be able to buy anything for Jenny, or get the jalebis if he got the earrings.
Seetha peaked into his palm, taking out her own purse. There was only 5 annas left. “Bheem. Mere liye mat lo. Sirf Jenny ke liye hi lete hain.” (Bheem. Let’s just buy something for Jenny.)
“Nahi! Main pichle mahine hi laya tha uske liye kuchh cheezein.” (No. I bought her some jewllery only last month.) He had made up his mind. The gond man offered the rupee and a half to the shopkeeper. “Ji de dijiye.” (Please, we’ll take it.) Seetha caught his hand. “Bheem!”
He looked at her with determined gaze in the honey dipped eyes. “Agar tumhare liye zara se bhi pyaar hai mere liye toh aaj nahi rokogi tum mujhe.” (If you love me even a little bit, you will not stop me now.) It did not sound like blackmail. It rang like an ultimatum in the air, hanging between the two - the shopkeeper all the while watching this charade and getting frustrated.
“Lena hai ya nahi?” (Are you buying them or not?) He finally asked.
“Bilkul.” (Of course.) Bheem handed him the money. He took the paper wrapped packet and started walking with Seetha in tow.
“Tumne mol bhaav bhi nahi kiya! Buddhu ho tum!” (You didn’t even bargain! You fool!)
“Tumhari khushi ka woh kya mol lega bhabhi. Dedh rupiya hi toh tha! Magar han, agar mol lagaata toh shayad yeh lazeez jalebiyan kha paata.” (Bhabhi, no one can put a price on your happiness. It was only a rupee and a half. But yes, if I had bargained, we could have left some money for the delicious jalebis.) They had reached the jalebi stall again, the halwai still making the delicacy.
“Koi baat nahi mere pyare Bheemudu!” (No worries, my Bheemudu!) She linked his hand with her as she dragged him toward the food. “Mere paas abhi bhi 5 aane hain.” (I still have 5 annas left.) The smile Bheem gave her could have blinded a million suns.
“Are waah!” (YAY!) He perked up immediately. “Itne mein to pet bhar kar dher saari jalebi kha sakte hain hum! Aur le bhi jaayenge sab ke liye…” (This is enough to buy so many jalebis for all of us!)

Elegance Redefined: The Allure of Moissanite Bracelets as explained by I heart moissanites
When it comes to jewelry that combines elegance, durability, and ethical sourcing, Moissanite Bracelets are taking the fashion world by storm. These exquisite pieces of wrist wear offer a brilliant alternative to traditional diamond bracelets, making them a sought-after choice for those who appreciate both beauty and responsibility. In this article, we will delve into the captivating world of Moissanite Bracelets, exploring their origin, characteristics, benefits, and how they are transforming the jewelry industry.
THE ORIGIN OF MOISSANITE - Before we know something about moissanite, we must know its origin, who discovered It and how it was discovered. The moissanite is actually silicon carbide, which was discovered by a french scientist Henri Moissan( so Moissanite have some clue in his name) from a meteorite . However, the natural moissanites are pretty rare and costly.
Then in 20th century, scientists started developing moissanites in laboratory and they succeed as well. Since then 95% of present world moissanites are lab made.
At I heart moissanites we sell both lab made moissanites and natural moissanites both. Today, lab-created Moissanite is celebrated for its exceptional brilliance and fire, often outshining even diamonds.
THE BRILLIANCE OF MOISSANITE - One of the most remarkable features of Moissanite is its stunning brilliance. Moissanite exhibits a higher refractive index than diamonds, which means it reflects light with greater intensity, resulting in an eye-catching play of colors. This characteristic, known as "fire," gives Moissanite its signature sparkle and makes it an ideal choice for bracelets. Moissanite's brilliance is often compared to that of diamonds, and many individuals find it challenging to distinguish between the two with the naked eye. This makes Moissanite Bracelets an attractive option for those who desire the look of diamonds but prefer a more budget-friendly and ethically sourced alternative.
COMPARING WITH DIAMONDS IN ALL ASPECTS – When you compare your moissanite with diamonds, you will diamond are way little to NIL difference with moissanite. They score a 9.25 on the Mohs scale of hardness, just slightly below diamonds, which score a perfect 10. Diamonds and moissanites could be both lab and lab moissanite as well diamonds have pretty little difference.
AFFORDABILITY AND PRICE BY VALUE - In addition to their ethical and environmental benefits, Moissanite Bracelets are also a cost-effective choice. Moissanite typically costs a fraction of the price of diamonds of the same size and quality. This affordability allows jewelry enthusiasts to invest in larger and more luxurious pieces without breaking the bank. Furthermore, Moissanite retains its brilliance and value over time, making it a smart investment for those looking to make a statement without compromising on quality.
OVERALL MOISSANITE IS VERY PREFERABLE FOR GENERATIONS AND NEW AGE PEOPLE IN SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA.
I heart moissanite not just selling moissanites, but also the jewellry, specially rings. At I heart mossanites you will get the following kind of rings –

12th century England and the Wayhaven Chronicles
Let me preface this with I am not trying to bash Sera’s work in anyway. I am a fan of the Wayhaven chronicles and don’t want this post to be seen in the wrong light. I love seeing fanart and writings of the text and in no way mean to hurt anyone with this post, rather I’d like to help inform on this particular area.
I understand that this work is fiction, that it isn’t reality but does seem to reflect our world just with a hidden supernatural spin. As such it stands to reason that the 12th century in Wayhaven is the same as in the real world (or at least closely resembling). But because it is fiction it doesn’t have to conform to reality and thus this may all be moot.
If you’d like to learn a bit more about 12th century England please read on if not just ignore this post.
(any pictures used that are not credited are taken from the Historia Normannis re-enactment group)
So straight off the bat, regarding Adam/Ava and the 12th century there are some things about them that simply don’t fit the period.
Now to understand why I care about a few small details; I have been a 12th century re-enactor in England for the past 6 years (and a multi- period re-enactor for around 8) . As such while there is definitely much more I can learn I do have a fairly good grasp of the early Norman period (in England as least). My group aims to portray Norman life in England from peasants to Nobles and I’m heavily involved in the drapery.
1. Adam/Ava’s name is slightly off
So ‘du’ means ‘of’ in French but here’s where every English school lies to their students; The Normans aren’t French. Rather they’re Vikings who were given land by the French. Anyway with that bit of history out of the way the connective used for names by the Normans in England at this time isn’t Du but De so De Lacey, De La Ware ect.
Fun fact; Adam/Ava would have had several ways you could refer to them as last names weren’t what they are now as such they would have been refered to as Adam De Mortain, Adam Fitz[insert father’s name here] (Fitz mean son of) or Ava of (wherever they lived in England).
From what I understand Adam isn’t the most popular name in the 12th century, he’s much more likely to be named William, Stephen, Henry, Steven, Robert or Richard (note how many kings and royalty of the time have those names). Adam become more popular as a name around the 13th cen but this is something I would have to look more into to properly comment on so take it with a pinch of salt.
Ava is fine I think? Ada works as an alternative that’s the name I use on encampment. Some popular ones of the period are Matilda, Eleanor, Margaret, Isolda is another (Emperess Matilda and Eleanor of Aquitaine are some incredible women who do not get enough credit in history)
The doomsday book is an excellent source for understanding names in England at the time (it’s basically a survay of England and a portion of Wales ordered by William the Conqueror a couple of decades after he became king).
2. Gender Roles in Norman society
Norman society had gender roles, it just did. Less so for peasants (some crafts were seen as more a man’s domain or a woman’s but that’s about it, didn’t see many men embroidering and women doing blacksmithing) but very clear ones for nobles.
Noble women basically ran the estate, they had the keys for the coffers, the doors and handled the money. Their power and status was signified by a large ring of keys they would wear on their belt with the only other person having this being a steward. After all if you have lots of keys and those keys are made of say brass which is more expensive then cast iron you must have a pretty big estate and wealth.
Men in contrast showed this with a sword at their belt. Contrary to media swords were not something anyone had access to in the middle ages, they were expensive (think luxury sports car) and only really good for killing people. You can’t really use it to cut your bread or skin a rabbit, if you did have some extra money for wargear you would buy a helmet or some armour before you bought a sword. Even most mercenaries didn’t use swords, it was symbol of wealth.
Noble men were taught from an early age how to fight and were squired to knights to learn the ways of warfare (they didn’t just learn how to fight but it was a large part of their education).
Women didn’t fight on the battlefield at all, knight Ava would not have been a thing. Women did occassionally command armies such as if their castle was being besieged but they didn’t fight as knights. I know this was done so that there weren’t any differences between the characters of Adam or Ava but in reality it wouldn’t be a thing.
Some of the things both were taught though was horse riding and hunting, as well as poetry and music. There were pleanty of noble men who were troubadour and women who were trobairitz (travelling musicians/composers, not quite like how bards are portrayed as today).
3. Battlefield Etiquette and armour
Knights don’t kill other knights they took them hostage. This was because a dead knight was worth what he was wearing but an alive knight could be ransomed back to his family for much more. As such it was seen poorly if you did murder a knight when you could have taken them ransom (most knights would surrender if they felt they were in danger, people aren’t stupid).
Plate did not exist in the 12th century, what was worn was maille (or chain maille except maille means chain so it was just called maille). This is more so what Adam would be wearing;
Tumblr media
What he’s wearing is a badded gambison under the armour to protect against blunt blows (like from a mace) while on top of that he has maille to protect against slashes (he’s also got his cloth undergarments underneath is all). The cloth on top is a surcoat and would be of your heraldry or your lords heraldry and basically signified to everyone else that you were a knight (so difficult to kill and very good at killing).
Underneath the helmet the maille overs his head and neck (called a coif) and then under that he has a padded arming cap. As such it’s a little difficult to wip your helmet off movie style and you’re face would be covered in oil and sweat, hair sticking to your head. Maille is really good at pulling hair out so you would always have something underneath it (ealier periods, like the vikings, who didn’t wear gambisons wore their tunic underneath).
4. Fashion
This is more just to give an idea of what fashion in the 12th century was like. Media tends to portray the medieval period incorrectly, as dirty and dull and with random bits of fur and leather strapped to people (really Vikings tv show? fur on the outside of your cloak to get wet?)
Much to the opposite, people in the medieval period were clean (they washed) they didn’t just leave dirt on themselves and given peasants didn’t have too much money they kept very good care of their clothing as they couldn’t just get another one everytime they ripped their dress or tunic (or buy the fabric to make another).
Bright coloured clothing was also very popular, it’s harder to dye clothing a bright or deep colour and some colours (purple and black) could only be achieved through using rare dyes. So if you had a bright dress it showed you had more money. Norman’s weren’t so big on jewellry so they showed wealth through their clothing; the colour, the embroidery, the quality of fabric and if it had excess fabric.
-----------
So lets start with Ava.
I’m going to assume that Adam/Ava’s family were upper nobility so had a fair bit of wealth behind them.
Firstly woman’s heads were covered, it was seen as immodist for a woman of age to show her ears (only harlots do that). Mostly what was worn was a wimple which is basically a linen head scalf like so;
Tumblr media
But Ava is a noble so she has some other options open to her such as a veil (similar to wimple but flows down the back of the person) or the risque barbette which was very fashionable among the upper nobility.
Tumblr media
(maniacal medievalist - wordpress)
Dresses covered the body and just barely touch the floor, low neck lines aren’t in yet so the only skin a woman would be showing is her hands and face (and neck if veil or barbette). You wouldn’t really be able to see her collar bones as that is about where the neckline of the shift and dress are.
Dresses were tight fitting and were worn with a shift underneath (made of linen and basically under garments), Normans (with more money) would dye the shift either white or a contrasting colour. The neck hem and wrists of the dress were often embroidered (if you were very rich you could embroider it with prescious stones and metal thread)
Noble women would often have long impractical sleeves that were embroidered and had a contrasting colour inside to show off their wealth (less wealth smaller bell sleeves). (If say hunting, tight fitted sleeves were recommended, bell sleeves are really impractical for doing anything)
Tumblr media
Next we have Adam.
Men’s fashion in the 12th century was similar to women, they wore long tunics (longer the richer you were) with a linen shift underneath, they also wore linen braise (basically underwear) with tight fitting woolen hose (basically stocking). It was the fashion to show off your calves.
Men’s clothing was also embroidered and they wore hats or linen coifs on their heads (it’s only really recently in history where it has become the norm not to wear a hat). The neckline would also be about around the collar bones.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also quick side notes; cloaks don’t have hoods, hoods are a separate piece of clothing that cover the shoulders
Rings aren’t popular yet, you’ll see much more metal studs on belts or precious stones on clock pins then you’ll see rings. Cross necklaces for men are common, rosaries on the belt for women (richer women would have precious stones on the rosary).
-------------
If you’ve gotten this far thank you for reading this, I do appriciate it. This post was made because while I love Adam/Ava and seeing fanart of Ava as a knight, but as a 12th century re-enactor the inaccuracies grated on me (something that plagues many re-enactors who care about authenticity in media, aka the Vikings and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla are horrible representation of what the vikings looked like please stop media).
I hope this post has been informative of the 12th century, it’s one of the lesser known periods of the medieval age and there’s a lot of misinformation about it. As stated at the top this post is purely to help inform about the period and is in now way meant as an attack on the work, Sera or others.
I hope you have a good day.
