(he still thinks of himself as a weapon, and it's pretty hard to hug a sword. if that makes sense)

Yeah, this one hits.

Gillion thinks of himself as a weapon. Definitely. After some point, probably after the Luxbris Pearl, he began to think of himself of a monster now too. He's killed. He's hurt people, their families and friends. He canonically knows war strategies as well as, if not better than Jay. But they still love him. Chip and Jay and everyone else know this, and they still call him a hero, a good person. He doesn't think he's a hero anymore. Of course he'll continue doing good things, but will that really make up for the bad? He's trying so hard to help people, but he can't help everyone. In the end, he's just a weapon. And he tries so hard to be something more, to be something worth loving. But to him, he's not worth loving if he can't fight. What if Chip and Jay are using him, as a weapon, just like the elders did? If he couldn't fight anymore, would he be worth anything to them? To me, the reason he picked up sentinel is because he felt so desperately that he needed to be something that was on defensive, not something on the offensive. Maybe he'll be a better person if he's a protecter instead.
