Here is my list of recommended sapphic books! There’s a lot of YA here since that’s a lot of what I read. Everything on this list I have personally read and can recommend. I’m sure there’s a TON out there I haven’t read or ones I have read and have just forgotten!

Hide by Kiersten White (Adult)

A high-stakes hide and seek competition in an abandoned amusement park. One of my all-over favorite books of 2022.

House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland (YA)

No wlw romance in this one, but the main character and her sister are both wlw. My absolute favorite book of 2021. What I would pay to read this for the first time again.

The Girls I’ve Been by Tess Sharpe (YA)

The daughter of a con artist is finally allowed to stop running and faking her identity, only to get stuck in a bank heist with her ex-boyfriend and current girlfriend.

Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand (YA)

Three girls who shouldn’t have a reason to team up together against an ancient evil. The new girl, the pariah, and the queen bee who’s been helping the evil all along. I have reread this book easy a dozen times.

Throwaway Girls by Andrea Contos (YA)

When a girl goes searching for her missing best friend, she finds a trail of other missing girls and battles with heartbreak after her girlfriend leaves her for California.

Wilder Girls by Rory Power (YA)

Quarantined at her girl’s school after a gruseome Tox breaks out, a girl must find what happened to her best friend who’s gone missing

A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray (YA)

Two of the major supporting characters are WLW. This becomes more important and on the page in the later books in this series, but this is the first one.

Music from Another World by Robin Talley (YA)

1970s California. Two girls become penpals and bond over music.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid (Adult)

Hollywood icon Evelyn Hugo famously had seven husbands. This is the story of her wife.

Warrior

Ciara watched with huge eyes at the towering figure as he marched towards her. As he moved, the determination was evident. He was there to fulfil his role to impregnate the Fairy Queen. Ciara trembled as she stared bewildered at the muscular giant. How was she going to deliver his child?

The fairy council had insisted on choosing for the Queen. A strong, powerful breeder was required so the next generation would successfully survive.

Ciara felt his hand encase her small fingers as he continued towards the privacy of the cottage. The couple would stay inside while the breeding and the birthing would take place.

The Giant grunted as he closed the door, clearly not happy about the arrangement.

"So, it's my duty to give you a child! I think this is crazy but it's the council's decision, not mine!"

Ciara nodded, still staring at the large warrior in front of her.

"Dont be afraid! I will try not to hurt you too much! I have been told that I have a way with women. You may even enjoy the mating. I can't promise the birthing will be easy. In fact, it will be one difficult ordeal."

Ciara weakly smiled as she quietly walked towards the huge bed in the middle of the room.

Alexander laughed a little when he watched Ciara awkwardly adjust herself against the quilt. He slowly approached the bed. He gently sat next to her and lowered his mouth to her lips.

"If we are to make a baby together, let's see what you are like to kiss?"

Alexander ran his fingers through her long golden curls before pulling her to his face. His mouth captured her. A sudden flash of energy erupted between the two of them. Alexander instantly felt it. His body tightened and his desire exploded for her. It must have been some kind of fairy spell. Alexander was immediately aroused. He wanted her so badly. His hands were exploding down her body in minutes. His crazed needs went into overdrive.

Ciara smiled against his attentions as she felt his hungry mouth kiss her wildly. She had cast a spell to help with the mating. At least, she would be pregnant and stay to birth by the end of the night.

Alexander's fingers were dragging up her skirts and playing between her thighs. He was completely mad with sexual tension. He pressed firmly against her folds. He smiled when he find her wet and ready for him. He pressed harder and faster.

"What do you want woman? Do you want me inside here?"

The strong warrior rubbed vigorously over her twitching lips as she moaned and panted frantically with her own increasing desires. She nodded against his face and whispered,

"I want you in me! I want you to give me a huge baby! I want you by my side as I push it out!"

Alexander grunted and pulled up her skirts. He throbbed with his enormous manhood. He pulled roughly at her undergarments until she was free and open to his readiness. He pulled her against him and thrusted inside her, swiftly and powerfully.

Ciara moaned loudly and squeezed strongly as he pounded her towards one almighty climax. She was lost in her need to conceive the healthy offspring. She panted, breathing faster and faster until his hot seed exploded into her fertile womb.

"Promise me, don't leave me! Stay with me as I birth this baby!"

"I promise! Every push! Every scream! I will be with you!"

Fairy magic and Celtic strength had the Queen impregnated and rapidly ready for delivery in the next few hours.

The Queen sat on the edge of the bed, panting and whimpering as the strength of contractions grew intense and powerful. The gigantic baby was forcing its way through her cervix as Ciara shook wildly in agony and delirium.

"Hold me! Oh please make it come! Its too much! I need to push it out! Right now!"

Alexander pressed inside of her and told her to just breath a little longer to allow for the head to fully descend into the birth canal.

Alexander held her as the transition fever took hold of the Queen. She thrashed madly against the sheets, sweating and begging to relief the growing pressure with strong pushing efforts.

It was not long until Alexander was able to tell her it was time! Ciara roared at the top of her lungs as her first push shoved the massive head fully into her birth passage. She screamed as she clutched his arm and pushed again and again.

"Its too big! I must have been crazy! Get it out!"

Ciara gripped Alexander's massive frame as she pushed harder and harder. The head was fighting to crown through her pulsating lips. Ciara had struggled through an extremely painful labour all the night. As the morning came, the burning of crowning consumed her lower body.

"GET IT OUT! WHY DOES IT HURT SO MUCH! MUST PUSH IT NOW!"

Ciara bellowed and squeezed downwards through the unstoppable fire storm between her quivering legs. Alexander remained calm, supportive and overprotective.

"I have to push! I have to push it out! I HAVE TO GIVE BIRTH!"

Ciara lost all sense of time and reason as the humongous crown filled her vaginal cavity to its widest point. She howled out through her primal need to birth.

Alexander watched in complete amazement at the strength of the fairy's efforts. He may have had his doubts at the beginning but now, he wanted more babies with her. Lots and lots of them!

Ciara vibrated against Alexander's soild chest as the baby parted and exploded through her in one tremendous effort.

The baby wailed and wriggled between her legs as the father lifted it up and hugged the fairy and the beautiful baby. The girl infant was ENORMOUS.

Alexander held Ciara and whispered in her ear as she nursed the infant,

"I want to do that again! And again! And again!"

Riots in the Square | Ciara & Godfrey

"My lady, we are to escort you back to your chambers immediately. You cannot be here."

"Why? Lord Calainon is expected here any moment ... " Ciara found that she now often met such requests with perhaps a tad more hostility than it warranted. She supposed that that was a direct result from her guilty conscious, which always suspected that this was the moment that her cousin had discovered that she had gotten herself involved in the resistance and, even though she had been his own secret informant, it would be apparent that not everything had been disclosed to him.

"-- It is for your own safety."

"What is happening?" She asked, again.

"Those are our orders."

After a silent march to her rooms and more unsuccessful attempt to gather any information, Ciara slipped from her rooms the moment she no longer heard them in the hall. From a distance, she trailed the guards and found that they and a great many others were rushing towards the walls and the main gate of the castle.

She went to the nearest window, and although she wasn't truly able to see anything from it, when she opened it she could hear the sounds of a large, rioting crowd, which must have been making it way towards the castle. In mere moments, the shouting turned to screams, followed by the unmistakable cries of grief, and then before Ciara could make it down to the courtyard, all had gone silent.

"My lady, you shouldn't be here."

Ciara turned -- this time it was Tristan who spoke to her. She shook her head defiantly when he tried to usher her away, "No, Tristan, I -- "

"-- Come, my brother will not be pleased if he finds I've allowed you to stay."

"He was on his way here! He may, even now, be on the other side of the wall." On the wrong side of the wall, she feared -- if anyone were to recognize him as a brother of the Queen. (Whatever was happening outside, she doubted that he would not be seen as the enemy). Given that the crowds had died down significantly, Ciara worried that if something had happened to him, it might be too late.

She could tell that Tristan suddenly shared in her fears and he moved with some urgency back towards the gates where he shouted orders to the guards.

Minutes later, the gates were opened and Godfrey passed through and Ciara felt herself breathe easy again as relief washed over her. She wasted no time in greeting him as soon as he dismounted from his horse.

"Are you alright? Are you hurt?" Ciara searched his face for any signs of injury, but all she found there was distress.

She took his hand and lead him to a more secluded part of the courtyard, as Percy led away his horse. It was not the first time that Ciara had noted the convenience of their relationship: she might have been his informant, but she was his fiancé, too, and no one batted an eye to see them tucked away whispering together. Even here, in the open, they may speak freely.

"Did you see what has happened? No one will tell me anything."

Here he is! New character for my Magical Creatures AU.

I'll give you a few more additional information. ☺️

The door of the temple where Lyric was sealed, the pictures are of Sonda and Tailer. (Yes, I deleted a tail of Tails from the picture in the game because Tailer has one tail. I know it doesn't make sense to have him in the air in the mosaic. 😅😂)

Queen Azu commissioned these mosaics because this temple represents betrayal. Lyric, who betrayed ancients - Sonda and Tailer, who "supposedly" betrayed her.

You can visualize Tailer directly as single-tailed Tails. Sonda is exactly the same as he used to look like Sonic. That's why Lyric confused Sonic with Sonda.

The reason why Sonda has sharp teeth and claws, and the blue glow above his eye, is because magical creature spirits seem more ferocious than mortals. When he lost his speed, all his magical spirit appearance was reflected in his appearance.

Sonda's voice is the same as Sonic's, but for Sonda's voice, think of Roger Craig Smith's Dying Light voice. ✌️

"Cancer, Sagittarius!” Three new, small voices shouted, cutting Ciara off. “Look at what we found!”

Cancer looked behind Ciara, Ciara turning around to look as well. The Gemini twins—Solana and Luna—and Leo came running in, Leo holding something in her small paws. As soon as they saw Ciara, they all immediately stopped, all of them seemingly trying to hide behind each other so Ciara wouldn't stare at them.

Ciara awkwardly waved towards the three kids. "Hi guys." The Gemini twins timidly waved back. Leo nodded her head, keeping her hands closed.

Cancer walked forward, her many legs kneeling down in order to look the trio in the eyes. "Whatcha got for me?"

Leo very cautiously opened her hands, revealing what was hiding inside. A vibrant purple butterfly was perched on her palm, its wings fluttering gently.

"Whoa," Ciara whispered, fearing if she made any loud noises it would fly away. Sagittarius nodded, impressed.

"Very beautiful butterfly, you three." He said, watching the butterfly crawl around on Leo's hand. Then he waved towards the door. "Now set it free. We wouldn't want to trap such a pretty thing indoors."

Leo nodded, and carefully made her way outside.

"Guys! Wait up!" Yet another voice said, approaching them. "Oop, pardon me, Leo. Guys!"

A girl, seeming to be around Ciara's age, rushed into the room. She had long, curly brown hair, and was pushing herself in using a wheelchair. "Oh. Who's this?"

Solana ran up to the girl, taking one of her hands. "Auriga, this is Ciara! She's a visitor from another Astral Plane!"

"She likes the butterfly we found!" Luna said, running up and taking Auriga's other hand. "And she also has a cool sword!"

Auriga nodded, looking up at Ciara. "Interesting. And what does Leo think about her?"

"I think she's cool!" Leo said, reappearing at the doorway. "Guys, we should show her the treasure trove!"

"That's a great idea!" Luna said, Solana nodding along.

The small lion Zodiac turned to Ciara. "Do you...do you wanna see my treasure vault?"

Don't trust her, don't trust her, don't trust Leo. Ciara's thoughts ran wild, screaming at her not to take Leo's outstretched hand, crying out, traitor, traitor, TRAITOR.

Despite the rush of blood in her ears, Ciara took the girl's small hand. "Yeah. Let's go."

"Bye Sagittarius!"

"Bye Cancer!"

"Have a nice time," Cancer said, waving cheerfully as the small group departed. Sagittarius nodded in acknowledgement before turning back to the pile of swords.

"So...what's it like where you're from?" Leo asked, gently swinging Ciara's hand back and forth as they walked. The twins were walking in front of them, chattering animatedly with Auriga.

"It's uh...well, where I'm from, the Zodiacs are kings and queens. Each of them rules their own kingdom and commands their own subjects," Ciara said, pretending that the threat of civil war and invasion from demons wasn't a constant, overhanging threat. After all, how would you explain such things to a child?

"Wow! I wanna rule my own kingdom!" Leo said enthusiastically. "What's your Leo like in your world? I bet he's super cool!"

"Uh—" Ciara stopped, stark-still. "Um."

Leo, Leo, Leo, oh, what happened to you? Where did you go wrong? Why did you have to do the things you did?

"Did—did I say something wrong?" Leo asked, glancing up at her worriedly.

"No, no," Ciara said, reassuring her. "Just thinking. His kingdom is centered around theater. He likes to put on plays and shows."

Leo gasped with glee. "Like Capricorn! He has a theater! Sometimes he puts on shows for us."

"I guess like that, yeah."

The small group stopped outside an enormous golden lion statue. In the center of its chest, there was a large stone door. Leo held up a finger before letting out the loudest roar Ciara had ever heard, seeming to shake her very eardrums. The statue's eyes glowed with golden light, and it echoed back the roar, destroying Ciara's ears even more.

The great stone door slid up, opening the way to a passageway sloping downwards. "C'mon!" Leo said, running through. The Gemini twins giggled and ran after her. Auriga wheeled herself behind them.

Ciara looked up, cautiously, unsure if the door would slam down on her the second she stepped through like a guillotine. She stepped over the threshold, and thankfully, she was not guillotined.

The passageway began sloping downwards, the group's footsteps echoing on the stone path. They kept going down and down, until the floor began leveling out.

"Whoa," Ciara said as they entered an enormous room, lined with shelves of jewelry and racks of weapons. There was also, inexplicably, an enormous pile of gold coins stacked in the back of the room. Everything seemed to radiate with golden light.

"What do you think?" Leo asked excitedly, as the Gemini twins oohed and aahed over the trinkets.

"So...shiny," Ciara simply said, awestruck. "I don't think we have anything like this, not even in Virgo's kingdom."

"Does your Virgo keep a lot of treasure?" Solana asked. "Our Virgo handles law stuff! Or something like that. Luna, do you remember what Virgo does?"

"Uhhh, she does the court cases?" Luna half asked, half said, shrugging. "A lot of boring adult stuff. Libra helps her."

"Law enforcement," Auriga said, placing a tiny crown on Solana's head and then doing the same with Luna. "She and Libra are the only overseers of justice in an...otherwise lawless land."

"Huh. Virgo and Libra actually don't talk that much in my world," Ciara said, picking up a stray gold coin and idly flipping it up into the air. "Usually, the earth Zodiacs and air Zodiacs don't like each other that much. Oh, except for Gemini and Virgo. They're like mother and daughter."

"Really?" Luna asked, looking up from the necklace she was fiddling with.

"What are we like in your world?" Solana asked, twirling a small bracelet around her finger. "What do we do?"

"Um. In my world, you're one person." Ciara sheepishly waved her hands back and forth, not quite knowing how to explain it. At the twins' confused looks, she elaborated further. "So, like, imagine you two, right? Smush your souls together. That's my Gemini. Two souls in one body. And the two souls combine to make one, bigger soul."

"Ohhh." Both twins nodded in understanding.

"And my Gemini's pretty awesome. She's like my big sister." Ciara fidgeted with the snake tooth necklace Gemini had made for her.

"I wanna meet her!" Solana said enthusiastically. "She seems so cool."

"There is a way to get from our world to your world, right?" Luna said, sitting up straighter. "After all, you're here, right? There's gotta be some way to travel between realms."

"Uhhh...we'll see." Ciara shrugged. I don't even know if there is a way to get these guys to my own realm. It was a miracle I even ended up here.

Luna pointed to Auriga, who was sitting in the corner and admiring the large stack of gold coins. "What about Auriga? What's she like in your world?"

"Auriga is Aquarius' younger brother, and her charioteer. I don't really talk with him, though. But he's a nice guy." Ciara squinted at this Auriga and the intricately designed wheelchair she was sitting on. "Is your wheelchair like your chariot? Cause that's pretty cool."

Auriga nodded. "Mhm! It can also go into racecar mode. I use it to roam around. But I also mostly rescue these rascals." She nodded towards the twins.

"Our Auriga's our companion constellation!" Solana said. "She's like our big sister!"

"Sometimes I feel like I'm your babysitter, if I'm being honest." Auriga chuckled.

"Noooooo! We love you!" Both twins scrambled over to give Auriga a hug, all three of them laughing.

"Leo? Leo? Oh, there you are!" A small voice shouted, heading towards them.

A smaller, paler lion was running down the passageway. He was wearing the thing Egyptian pharaohs wore—it was called a neme, which was one of the few pieces of information that Ciara retained from eighth grade world history—and he was carrying a tiny crook.

"Mini!" The tiny lion ran into Leo's arms, and she patted his head affectionately. "This is Leo Minor, but I call him Mini for short."

"Awww." Ciara was unable to stop herself from leaning forward and petting Mini's soft head. "So cute!"

"I'm not cute!" Mini pouted, looking up at Ciara. He barely came up to Ciara's waist, and looking at the small lion made Ciara laugh even more.

"I'm one of the main keepers of this vault!" Mini said, wriggling away from Ciara. "I'm very important!"

"Can you tell me about the relics in this vault then?" Ciara asked, genuinely interested now. She was a sucker for any relic infodumping.

"Ooh, I can!" Mini ran around on his stubby legs, pointing to the relics that were labeled. "These guys are actual constellations. This is Crater, the cup. And this is Caelum and and Sculptor, the chisel and sculptor's tools."

"Interesting. What about those two?" Ciara asked, pointing to a set of two crowns.

"Oh! That's Corona Borealis and Corona Australis, the southern and northern crowns! Very important, those two are."

"I remember those two!" Leo said. "Libra said that they used to be kept in the mausoleum until...something bad happened?"

"Someone stole something," Luna said. "Something important. A mirror, I think?"

"Urania's mirror," Auriga said. "Really important relic."

"I thought we moved the relics because they were getting corrupted?" Solana asked, confused now. "Not because they were getting stolen?"

"Corruption? Cassie explained that to me..." Gears began to turn in Ciara's head. "Wait...she said that corruption was caused by Void magic...Scorpio's somehow connected with Void magic...is that why you all don't like Scorpio? Cause he somehow messed up something important with his Void magic?"

Everyone stared at her.

"That...that sounds really similar to what the adults say," Leo said in a small voice. "All we know is that Scorpio did do something bad with his Void magic and now he spends all his time out in the Voidlands."

"What does he do there?" Ciara asked, her eyebrows drawing together.

Solana shrugged. "We don't know. Well, the adults do, but they don't tell us much about Scorpio and what he's looking for."

"I saw him go into the Voidlands with a bunch of weapons one time," Luna said. "I think he's doing some dangerous stuff in there."

"None of us know much about what Scorpio does," Auriga said. "He's...much of a loner. Some of the older Zodiacs have their suspicions about him." Mini nodded in agreement.

Ciara looked down at the coin laying in her palm. She clenched it in her hand, the pain helping to anchor her to reality.

She began to think that this world wasn't quite what she thought it was.
