Canadian Laws : too much?
Yes, Canada has too many laws. Some say that all the laws that exist in Canada are for our personal safety, but would you want to live in a country where it was illegal to pretend to practice witchcraft, sorcery, enchantment, or conjuration? I wouldn’t. How else would you be able to act as if you’re secretly a wizard from Hogwarts? This law would make it incredibly hard. Irrelevant laws like these are not needed, as you will soon see.
There are so many laws that have no point in existing. For example – it is illegal to pay for a 50 cent item in pennies. Why was this law even made in the first place? Can you imagine how much time and money would be wasted if the man who broke this law was charged and went to court? It wastes time for the police, the judge, the jury, etc. there is basically no point. To further prove myself, these are just examples of hundreds of laws that exist that are much worse than this.
You may say that all these laws were made for the well being of the people living in our society and in our country but some laws are simply not needed.
On the other hand you may argue that at one point in time many years ago, there was a need for all laws, especially the ones we ridicule today. I would agree with you. They were needed, meaning past tense. I’m not trying to say that these ridiculous laws were a mistake; I’m simply implying that since our society has changed significantly they should be reviewed to see if they are still needed. This review of laws may cost time and money (maybe) but in the long run I believe that it will benefit this country drastically. You may also argue that the police may not even enforce the insignificant laws that were made and that there would be no point in getting rid of them because it is almost as if they don’t exist right now. I would argue that you approach is the wrong one to take. You cannot just ignore a law even if it isn’t enforced. There are so many problems that could be created whilst having that mentality. First of all, there might be an officer who knows that someone is breaking the law but this person, let’s call him John Doe, is very good at hiding it and every piece of evidence this police officer found was false. This police officer would make himself familiar with these unneeded laws and when John breaks one of them, ex. It is illegal to download music online, this police officer will put him in handcuffs and make him pay not only for downloading music, but for the past laws that he was breaking also.
These irrelevant laws could cause many problems. They say that ignorance of the law is your fault and that you should make yourself familiar with all of them but how on earth could you learn and know all these laws without wasting years doing it. The laws that are based on the 10 commandments are reasonable and helpful. The hundreds of other insignificant laws are no longer needed and should be eliminated, it makes life hard for all of us.

In Canada it is the law that all women have access to safe and legal abortion. This right is being taken away from the citizens of New Brunswick.
The ONLY private abortion clinic in NB is being closed due to lack of government funding. The only other choice to have a safe abortion performed is by acquiring two letters of referral from different doctors and for the abortion to be deemed "medically necessary". This is bad news for any woman who can't afford a family doctor or whose doctor does not share their desire for abortion.
Women's rights in NB are being taken away! Please sign the petition above so that our provincial government doesn't break the law and we can still have access to safe & legal abortion!

Hello everyone!
In Canada, it is THE LAW that all women have access to safe and legal abortion. In my own province of New Brunswick, that right is being taken away from us. The ONLY private abortion clinic in New Brunswick (serving the province of PEI as well) is being shut down due to lack of government funding.
If this clinic is shut down, the only other option for legal abortion in New Brunswick will be for the woman to seek 2 letters of approval from different doctors and for the abortion to be deemed "medically necessary". This means that if the woman in need can't afford a family doctor or their doctor is not in support of their desire for abortion, they will not have access to safe abortion.
The link above is a petition for the government of New Brunswick to fund the abortion clinic and keep its doors open. If the government does not comply, they will be breaking Canadian law and taking away fundamental women's rights.
Please, help us fight for our rights!!
