Back at the hospital this week for 3-month scans to see if the cancer has returned. So incredibly grateful the results came back good!!!! #Scanxiety is a real thing, but Andrews doctors said he's doing amazingly well, and the blood work and scans confirmed. ❤️❤️❤️ I've said it before, but after taking a six-week break from the hospital (which felt like an eternity after being there weekly, sometimes daily), I was reminded that being in the pediatric cancer clinic is one of the most sobering things. Kids throwing up in garbage cans. Tiny babies crying. So many little kids and their families are fighting some of life's toughest battles, most with a smile. I think that's what amazes me. These kids (mostly much younger than andrew) are fighting for their lives, yet they're still kids, laughing, teasing siblings, entertained by movies and phones and regular kid stuff. The 10yo bald kid who threw up no less than a dozen times in the waiting room garbage can was laughing at his sister 2 minutes later. I love the resiliency of kids, including my own. 😊 We are so blessed to live close to one of the best ped oncology units in the world! So grateful today that my buddy is doing well!!! Why can’t people realize that the dissolution of a relationship doesn’t always have to be based in negative. People can drift apart. It is possible that wants and goals change. Life isn’t always negative.

Ready for Andrew's LAST DAY OF CHEMO!!! #letsdothis ☀️🔆☀️ Its been six months minus one week since his first infusion, and six weeks since he finished radiation. Every day he's fought to keep smiling through the nausea, fatigue, and missed school work. Back in October, six months didn't sound too bad. By December, April felt like an eternity away. Too far out of reach. But he did it, and I'm so proud of this kid. Making me, his doctors, and nurses laugh every day. In two weeks he'll have scans to see if the cancer is fully gone. How to combat sub-zero temps? Or should I not run below a certain temp? We will see sustained temps of -10/-20.

I would go with a base layer, a warm soft shell layer (think 1/2 zips) and then a wind resistant hard shell layer. Wind resistant tights.

Introduction

My name is Natalie Berry and I am currently 19. I graduated from Silva Health magnet and have been living in El Paso my entire life. I love to play soccer, swim and go hiking on my free time. My favorite animals are penguins but my heart belongs to my little Quaker parrot named Pineapple.   

This is my third semester at UTEP and I am pursuing a degree in nursing. I plan to continue my education to become a registered oncology nurse; however, I have not decided which University I want to attend for my Masters program. 

Cancer has personally affected my family so treating and comforting patients during those difficult times is my goal. Thousands of people and their families are affected by this disease and the emotional impact can be overwhelming at times. I want to be able to make a difference in their lives and hopefully help cope with the situation.
