Dior Starts New Year with Campaigns to Capture Youth—and Youths
Christian Dior’s 70th anniversary exhibition, “Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams,” sponsored by Maison Swarovski, draws to a close at Les Arts Décoratifs in Paris on Sunday, January 7th. But the brand isn’t looking back; in fact, it’s embracing the future, and today’s youth, to stay relevant, fresh and in step with the times.
Its new fragrance launch, Capture Youth, is being supported with a new creative effort for its purpose-driven digital charitable initiative, the Dior Love Chain. The cause marketing effort launched last August with a front row of high-profile celebrities including Natalie Portman, Jennifer Lawrence, Johnny Depp, Robert Pattinson, Eva Herzigova, Fedez, Carine Roitfeld and Nicolas Ouchenir.

Now the faces of the campaign are being found on the streets, with artists, dancers and other young influencers sharing what they would do for love.
The pro-social Dior Love Chain campaign poses the simple question, “What would you do for love?” For each answer posted on social media, Dior is donating $1 to the WE charity (@WEMovement on social), in partnership with Portman, in order to provide education to young girls in Kenya.
After Paris and New York, the Dior Love Chain traveled to Shanghai where a dancer, models, a yoga professor and more give their response to the question, “And you, what would you do for love?”

Fans are invited to share personal answers with the hashtag #DiorLoveChain — and to engage in the brand’s new consumer campaign.

The new creative in the pro-social cause marketing campaign supports the launch of Capture Youth, a new skincare line whose face is the British youthquaker and activist model, actress and author Cara Delevingne.
The product name has a double meaning—Dior wants to help fans stay young (inside and out) and capture their youth; and it wants to capture and engage youths in its story, purpose and  journey.

Infusing a new product launch with purpose and a social impact campaign is de rigueur for Maison Dior, the French luxury goods company controlled and chaired by French businessman Bernard Arnault, who also heads LVMH, the world’s largest luxury group.
Claude Martinez, president and CEO of Parfums Christian Dior told WWD at launch that the idea behind Love Chain is “to give the floor to people to talk about the universal and timeless theme of love, and what they would do for love. People often speak of ‘top-down’ communication, which is classical. And here, we have communication that’s more horizontal, more [participatory] I think [people] will have 100 times more creativity in their response, and it’s this creativity we are after. It’s in the spirit of the times [to] give people a voice.”
Additionally, Patrick Demarchelier shot a print campaign for Maria Grazia Chiuri of model and artist Sasha Pivovarova, who opened the ready-to-wear spring-summer 2018 show in jeans and a t-shirt printed with the title of the Linda Nochlin essay, “Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?”

She poses in a photography studio, surrounded by her finished drawings or in the act of making them. As Dior notes, “These portraits of women with angular faces and large mesmerizing eyes are very personal to Sasha as they are a reflection of her and her emotions. The creative process is reminiscent of Niki de Saint Phalle’s, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s primary source of inspiration for this collection. The advertising campaign’s aesthetics also evoke another inspiration: the 1960s, and with them a spirit that’s equal parts artistic, feminine and cheekily playful.”
Founded in 1946 by fashion designer Christian Dior, the House of Dior designs and retails haute couture, ready-to-wear, leather goods, fashion accessories, footwear, jewelry, timepieces, fragrance, make-up, and skincare products.
Based on the founder’s belief that “a complete collection should address all types of women in all countries,” the famed Maison’s mantra: “Luxury fashion houses need to maintain a code of quality, craftsmanship and knowledge. Luxury is not only clothes with price but also value and the human touch. Luxury is when you can feel the creativity. Fashion is emotional, it’s story.”

Cara Delevingne rocks up to royal wedding in suit and top hat, everyone else go home
Tumblr media
You might not have heard, but there's yet another royal wedding taking place. No, no, Meghan and Harry aren't renewing their vows. It's Princess Eugenie's wedding to Jack Brooksbank.
Cara Delevingne, who's a friend of Eugenie, showed up to the wedding wearing the most legendary outfit. In fact, every other wedding guest may as well just turn around now and go home. Cara's stolen the show.

Cara showed up in a top hat and tails to the wedding at St George's chapel in Windsor, where Meghan and Harry were wed earlier this year.
