I haven't kept up with trying to post my fundraiser for Oliver's FIP treatment very well, but that's because I had surgery last Monday (carpal tunnel release, first of two) and I've been recovering. I wanted to post a proper update and wasn't ready to type so much.
He is doing well. I haven't had to supplement him with any syringe feeding in several days, he's eating well on his own now. The picture above is him napping a few minutes ago after devouring his whole dinner. He's been playful again, too. He's typically very high energy and still plays like a kitten, but he hadn't been very enthusiastic about play since early-mid Feb. He's also gained just a little weight back!
We have a long way to go, still, though. His treatment will continue until May 16th at minimum. I'm close to my base goal of the minimum potential cost of the treatment, which is $1,260, but I'm still hoping to raise at least a bit more than that, for any supplies (currently, just pill pockets), part of the cost of the blood tests he will need, and any potential increases in cost for the treatment (ie, if he needs an increased dose or to be on it longer than to May 16th).
I live off of disability (which is shamefully low in the US) so I wouldn't be able to afford any of this without help. I know it's rough out there for everyone right now, so I'm incredibly grateful for what I've received thus far and appreciate any further support. ❤❤❤

The Carpal Tunnel Release Market is projected to grow from USD 620.36 million in 2024 to USD 927.08 million by 2032, reflecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.15%.Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a common condition that affects millions of people worldwide, causing pain, numbness, and tingling in the hand and arm. The condition arises when the median nerve, which runs through the carpal tunnel in the wrist, becomes compressed. Carpal Tunnel Release (CTR) is a surgical procedure designed to alleviate the symptoms by cutting the ligament that forms the roof of the carpal tunnel, thereby reducing pressure on the median nerve. With the growing prevalence of CTS, the Carpal Tunnel Release market has seen significant growth, driven by advancements in medical technology, an aging population, and increasing awareness about the condition and its treatment options.

Market Overview
The global Carpal Tunnel Release market has been expanding steadily, with North America and Europe leading in terms of market share. The increasing incidence of CTS, particularly among people engaged in repetitive hand movements such as typing, assembly line work, and certain manual labor, is a key driver of this market. Additionally, the rise in the elderly population, who are more prone to developing CTS, further fuels the demand for CTR procedures.
In recent years, there has been a shift towards minimally invasive techniques for carpal tunnel release, which has significantly impacted the market. Traditional open surgery, which involves a larger incision, is gradually being replaced by endoscopic methods that are less invasive, result in quicker recovery times, and have a lower risk of complications. This shift is expected to continue as technology advances and as both patients and healthcare providers increasingly opt for less invasive surgical options.
Technological Advancements
Technological innovation has played a crucial role in the evolution of the Carpal Tunnel Release market. Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release (ECTR) has emerged as a preferred method due to its minimally invasive nature, which leads to less postoperative pain and a faster return to normal activities. The development of new surgical instruments and techniques, such as the use of ultrasound guidance during the procedure, has further enhanced the precision and safety of CTR surgeries.
Moreover, robotic-assisted surgery is making its way into the market, offering even greater precision and control during the procedure. While still in the early stages of adoption, robotic systems are expected to gain traction as they become more widely available and as their benefits in improving surgical outcomes are demonstrated.
Challenges and Opportunities
Despite its growth, the Carpal Tunnel Release market faces several challenges. The high cost of surgery, particularly in developed regions, can be a barrier to access for some patients. Additionally, the risks associated with any surgical procedure, including infection and nerve damage, may deter some individuals from opting for surgery.
However, these challenges also present opportunities for innovation. The development of cost-effective surgical techniques and devices, along with the expansion of healthcare coverage in emerging markets, can help overcome these barriers. Furthermore, increasing awareness about early diagnosis and treatment options for CTS can lead to earlier intervention, reducing the need for surgery in some cases.
Future Outlook
The future of the Carpal Tunnel Release market looks promising, with continued growth expected due to the rising prevalence of CTS and ongoing advancements in surgical technology. The trend towards minimally invasive procedures is likely to continue, with endoscopic and robotic-assisted surgeries becoming more common. Additionally, as awareness about CTS increases, there may be a greater emphasis on preventive measures and early treatment, potentially leading to new market opportunities in the form of non-surgical interventions.

U.S. Peripheral Nerve Injuries Industry by Regions, Type & Applications During 2023-2030
U.S. Peripheral Nerve Injuries Market
The U.S. peripheral nerve injuries market size was valued at USD 406.23 million in 2022 and is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.32% from 2023 to 2030.
The growth of the market is attributed to factors such as a rising geriatric population coupled with increasing demand for minimally invasive procedures, technological advancements in surgical techniques and tools, and growing awareness among healthcare professionals and patients about peripheral nerve injuries.
Increasing funding by both private and public organizations is expected to play an important role in market growth. For instance, in September 2019, Renerva, LLC, a medical device company focused on innovating various techniques and technologies for Peripheral Nerve Injuries, received funding of USD 500,000 from the National Institute of Health (NIH), and the National Science Foundation (NSF). Peripheral nerve damage is estimated to affect around 20 million people in the U.S., causing symptoms that may range from mild discomfort to severe disability. It may go undiagnosed or untreated. Moreover, current procedures can be associated with limitations that impact the quality of life. Thus, to address the issue, there have been some technological advancements in this market. For instance, Axogen is focused on the development and commercialization of technology for peripheral nerve repair & regeneration. Axogen’s platform for nerve repair & regeneration is built of complex portfolio of products such as biologically active, off-shelf processed human nerve allograft. This can serve as a bridge between severed peripheral nerves with up to 70 mm without any associated comorbidities.
Furthermore, COVID-19 has highlighted the importance of minimizing hospital stays and reducing the risk of complications associated with invasive procedures. This could result in an increasing emphasis on minimally invasive procedures for peripheral nerve injuries, such as endoscopic techniques, nerve decompression procedures, and ultrasound-guided interventions. These procedures may offer shorter recovery times, reduced hospital stays, and potentially lower costs, which could impact the market for traditional open surgical interventions.

Hands-On Health: A Deep Dive into Hand Clinics
Tumblr media
Welcome readers to this comprehensive blog post on hand clinics. In our everyday lives, we often take our hands for granted. From simple tasks like buttoning a shirt to complex activities like playing a musical instrument, our hands play a crucial role in our overall well-being.
Therefore, it is essential to prioritise hand health and seek specialised care when needed. In this blog post, we will explore the world of hand clinic Auckland, their purpose, the conditions they treat, the services they provide, and the benefits of choosing them over general healthcare providers. So, let's dive right in!
Understanding Hand Clinics
Hand clinics are specialised medical facilities that focus on the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of hand-related conditions and injuries. These clinics are staffed by healthcare professionals, specifically trained in hand therapy, hand surgery, and other related fields. The primary goal of hand clinics is to provide comprehensive care and improve the functionality and quality of life for patients with hand issues.
One of the significant benefits of seeking care from hand clinics is the specialised expertise they offer. The healthcare professionals at hand clinics have extensive knowledge and experience in treating hand conditions, enabling them to provide accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans. Additionally, hand clinics often have access to state-of-the-art technology and equipment, which allows for a more precise assessment of hand-related issues.
Addressing common misconceptions or concerns about visiting hand clinics is crucial. Some individuals may worry about the cost or the necessity of specialised care for their hand conditions. However, it is essential to understand that hand clinics usually accept various forms of insurance, and the benefits of specialised care outweigh the costs. Hand clinics can provide personalised treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific needs, resulting in better outcomes and faster recovery times.

Common Hand Conditions Treated
Hand clinics treat a wide range of hand conditions that can significantly impact an individual's daily life. Some of the most common conditions include carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, tendonitis, fractures, trigger finger, and Dupuytren's contracture, among others.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition where the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the hand, becomes compressed at the wrist. This compression can cause pain, numbness, and weakness in the hand and fingers. Hand clinics employ various diagnostic techniques, such as nerve conduction studies, to accurately diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome. Treatment options may range from non-surgical interventions like splinting and physical therapy to surgical procedures like carpal tunnel release.
Arthritis, another commonly treated condition, refers to inflammation of the joints. Hand clinics provide effective management strategies for arthritis, including medication, injections, splinting, and hand therapy. These interventions aim to reduce pain, improve joint mobility, and enhance overall hand function.
Tendonitis, also known as tendinitis, is the inflammation of a tendon. Hand clinics use a combination of physical examination, imaging tests like ultrasound, and patient history to diagnose and treat tendonitis. Treatment options may include rest, physical therapy, medication, or, in severe cases, surgery.
Fractures are breaks in the bones of the hand and can result from various causes, such as falls or trauma. Hand clinics specialise in the management of hand fractures, providing accurate diagnosis through X-rays or other imaging techniques. Treatment options may include casting, splinting, or surgical intervention, depending on the severity of the fracture.
Services Provided by Hand Clinics
Hand clinics offer a wide range of services to ensure comprehensive care for their patients. These services include diagnostic procedures, non-surgical treatments, and surgical interventions.
To accurately diagnose hand conditions, hand clinic Auckland utilise various diagnostic procedures. X-rays are commonly used to assess fractures and joint deformities, while MRI scans may be employed to evaluate soft tissue injuries. Additionally, nerve conduction studies and electromyography can help diagnose nerve-related conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome.
Non-surgical treatments play a significant role in hand clinics. These may include physical therapy, occupational therapy, medication management, splinting, and injections. Physical and occupational therapy can help restore hand function through exercises, stretches, and specialised techniques. Medication management involves the use of pain relievers, anti-inflammatory drugs, or disease-modifying medications for conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. Splinting and injections are utilized to provide support, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain.
In cases where non-surgical interventions are unsuccessful or not appropriate, hand clinics may recommend surgical interventions. Hand surgeons at these clinics are specifically trained in performing a wide range of surgeries, such as carpal tunnel release, joint replacement, tendon repair, and nerve reconstruction. Surgical interventions aim to restore hand function, relieve pain, and improve overall quality of life.
Tumblr media
Benefits of Choosing Hand Clinics
Choosing a specialised hand clinic over general healthcare providers when dealing with specific hand-related issues offers several advantages.
One significant advantage is shorter wait times for appointments. Hand clinics prioritise patients with hand-related conditions, ensuring quicker access to specialised care. This can be especially beneficial for individuals experiencing acute pain or functional limitations.
Quicker access to specialists who are experienced in treating hand conditions exclusively is another advantage. General healthcare providers may have limited experience or knowledge in the complexities of hand conditions. Hand clinics, on the other hand, have healthcare professionals who specialise in hand therapy, hand surgery, and related fields. This focused expertise translates into improved outcomes and more effective treatment plans.
Moreover, hand clinics often collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, such as physical therapists and occupational therapists. This multidisciplinary approach ensures comprehensive care for patients, addressing not only the immediate hand-related issue but also any associated functional limitations or challenges.

How to Find a Reliable Hand Clinic
Finding a reliable hand clinic is crucial for receiving effective and specialised care. Here are some practical tips to help readers find trustworthy hand clinics in their area:
1. Research online reviews: Check websites, online forums, and social media platforms for reviews and testimonials from previous patients. This can provide insights into the quality of care and patient satisfaction at various hand clinics.
2. Seek recommendations: Consult with your primary care doctor or other healthcare professionals for recommendations. They may have worked with or received feedback from patients who have been treated at hand clinics.
3. Ask friends and family: Reach out to friends or family members who have undergone hand treatment and inquire about their experiences. Personal recommendations can be invaluable in finding reliable hand clinics.
4. Consider clinic reputation and credentials: Look for hand clinics with a good reputation in the medical community. Check the credentials and qualifications of the healthcare professionals, including hand therapists and hand surgeons, working at the clinic.
5. Convenient location and availability of appointments: Consider the location of the hand clinic and the ease of accessibility. Additionally, check the availability of appointments to ensure timely access to care.
Conclusion:
Hand clinic Auckland play a crucial role in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of hand-related conditions and injuries. Specialised expertise, comprehensive treatment options, and personalised care plans make hand clinics an excellent choice for anyone experiencing hand issues.
By prioritising hand health and seeking care from reputable hand clinics, individuals can improve their hand function, reduce pain, and enhance their overall quality of life. Orthopedic Surgery Kota: Cost and Complications
If you suffer from any kind of orthopedic injury such as hip dislocation, knee injury, broken elbow or rotator cuff, and if you experience pain or numbness that persists or worsens by any physical activity, you may be a candidate for orthopedic surgery.
Overview
Orthopedic surgery deals with the correction of injuries or disorders of the musculoskeletal system and its attachments- bones, muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons, peripheral nerves and connective tissue. Hip Replacement Sugeon in Kota
The term orthopedics encompasses a wide range of surgical and non-surgical treatments for all musculoskeletal and athletic injuries and conditions.
Some of the popular orthopedic operations include arthroscopic surgery of the knee, hip replacement, replacement of knee, partial replacement of knee, shoulder surgery, spine surgery, carpal tunnel release, back surgery and repair of fractures in hand, foot and ankle.
Surgery to repair rotator cuff tendons, reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), disc surgery, debridement of a joint surface and neck & elbow replacement are also common procedures.
Today, a majority of orthopedics operations are performed arthroscopically, in which an orthopedic surgeon makes only a small incision and uses delicate instruments to make the repairs.
An orthopedic fast facts page by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons suggests that musculoskeletal symptoms including pain, soreness, discomfort, cramps, limitation of movement, stiffness and swelling were the second biggest reason for hospital visits in 2006. It also states that more than one in four Americans are living with musculoskeletal symptom, with back and knee injuries the most prevalent impairments.

Undoubtedly, orthopedic surgery can be an ideal answer to fractures, dislocations and injuries that arise in the skeleton and its attachments.
However, orthopedic surgery, like all other surgical procedures, involves risks of excessive bleeding, infection, and allergic reaction to anesthesia. Risks specifically associated with this surgery include inflammation at the site where foreign objects like pins, implants or wires are implanted inside the body, surgical wound infection, and damage to nerves or to the spinal cord during the surgery.
The patient may also experience persistent pain, swelling, redness, drainage or bleeding and infection in the surgical area, which may result in slow healing and incomplete or no restoration of pre-surgical function. Sports Injury Doctor in Kota
Understandably, it is of utmost importance that you get your orthopedic surgery done at the hands of a highly skilled, well experienced and board certified orthopedic surgeon, who is trained to assess and treat disorders of the bones, joints, and ligaments of the human body.
For a successful surgery, a person's willingness to comply with rehabilitative therapy post surgery is equally important. The length of time that rehabilitation is needed depend on many factors, including the patient's age & general health, severity of the injury and extent of the surgery.
Cost
Orthopedic surgery and treatment cost may vary from country to country and clinic to clinic. As well, the price also depends on factors like what type of surgery you choose as well as experience of the surgeon and the reputation of aesthetic clinic you elect to get the surgery done.
In the Western and European countries the typical waiting time for an orthopedic surgery is up to three or six months, and to have this operation done privately it would cost you a fortune.
Getting the surgery done abroad can be the solution to this problem. In many developing and newly industrialized countries like India, Thailand and Mexico you can expect to pay only a fraction of the cost in your native country.
By travelling to these countries for orthopedic surgery such as knee or hip replacement surgery, shoulder surgery, spine surgery, back surgery and hand & foot surgery, you could make substantial savings even after adding in the cost of flights, holiday, accommodation, meals and local transportation.

Trigger Finger / Trigger Thumb
What is trigger finger/thumb?
If your finger gets stuck in a bent position or snaps when bent and straightened, then trigger finger can be the likely cause. The name trigger finger comes from the similarity with a gun trigger being pulled or released. This is a common cause of hand pain and is seen in roughly 2- 3 percent of general population. Thumb or ring finger of women in the fifth or sixth decade of life is most commonly affected. The condition can however involve multiple fingers and both hands.
What are the causes of trigger finger/thumb?
Tendons are rope like structures which attach the muscles to the bones. These are surrounded by a covering (sheath) and are held attached firmly to the bones by anchors called pulleys. A disparity in the size of the tendons and the sheath or the anchors results in the disruption of the smooth gliding mechanism and the resulting snapping or locking sensation is addressed as trigger finger.
The exact cause of this condition is not known, but its development may be related to activities requiring repeated gripping (like rock climbing) or physical activity involving extensive use of the hand as in repetitive screw driving. Certain professions such as farmers, industrial workers, musicians may experience this problem more often. Injuries to the pulley and tendon problems are seen in this condition.
This condition is seen more commonly in association with
Diabetes – up to 10% of diabetics may be affected
Rheumatoid arthritis
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or after surgery for this problem
Hypothyroidism
Renal disease or dialysis
Mothers thumb or De Quervain’s disease
What are the symptoms of trigger finger/thumb?
The common symptoms include
Stiffness and swelling especially in the morning
Palpable painful nodule at the base of finger
Clicking during movement of the finger
Intermittent finger locking during bending often requiring extra effort to straighten the finger
In severe cases the affected finger may become locked in a bent position
How is trigger finger/thumb diagnosed?
The diagnosis of trigger finger is based on the medical history and clinical examination. The key finding is locking of the finger when it is bend, with snapping when it is straightened. Ultrasound is an inexpensive and easily available modality used to assess the severity and measure the thickness of the affected sheath. A guided injection for relief can be performed at the same time for relief. Ultrasound offers the advantage of being able to compare to the other side and perform a dynamic assessment (assess the problem as the finger is being moved).
What are the treatment options for trigger finger/thumb?
Most cases are treated conservatively with rest, activity modification, splinting, anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy and local injections. Early treatment of trigger thumb has been associated with better outcomes. Splints can limit motion and reduce aggravating activities. These are usually worn for 6-10 weeks although are less effective in individuals with severe triggering or longstanding symptoms.
Steroid injection
A small amount of steroid with local anaesthetic is used for injection under ultrasound guidance. Unguided injections without ultrasound may risk injury to surrounding structures such as nerves and blood vessels. Dr Manocha routinely preforms these injections under ultrasound guidance in his OPD as guided injections are more accurate. Injections are a low-cost alternatives to surgery with less complications and quick return to work.
The injection can reduce inflammation and resolve pain, triggering in up to 75% of cases. Some individuals may require more than one injection. If a series of two injections do not resolve the problem, then the surgical option can be considered. Surgery is successful in vast majority who fail to improve with the above measures. Options include open, endoscopic or percutaneous release.

What does carpal tunnel treatment cost?
If you have carpal tunnel syndrome, no doubt you want to know what carpal tunnel treatment costs you face. But first, listen to the experts. In fact, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) have good news. Over 90% of people who have carpal tunnel syndrome do not need surgery. They are able to cure symptoms with one (or a combination) of several non-surgical treatment options. Talk with your doctor about the non-surgical options that are best for you.
Treatment options
The NIH and AAOS say there are two ways to treat carpal tunnel syndrome. The first way is to use non-surgical treatments. These include:
Bracing
Myofascial massage
Cortisone injections
The second way is to treat is with carpal tunnel release surgery. There are two basic types of carpal tunnel surgeries. They are:
Endoscopic surgery
Open release surgery
The AAOS recommends everybody with carpal tunnel use non-surgical remedies first. That’s because they are effective over 90% of the time. However, if you try them and they’re unsuccessful after 6 months, the AAOS says you should explore surgical options. Of course, the costs of non-surgical versus surgical treatment options vary a lot.
Note about the overview below: First, it lists the costs without health insurance. Second, it represents the costs of treating one hand, not two (except for myofascial massage by “automated device”, below). Finally, it assumes the treatment is successful. If you have complications or a failed surgery, the costs obviously increase dramatically. This is an important consideration due to the relatively high failure rate of carpal tunnel surgery.
Non-surgical carpal tunnel treatment costs
Relative to surgery, the carpal tunnel treatment cost of non-surgical therapies varies just a little bit.
Seeing a doctor for a diagnosis: $120 - $190
Having EMG to confirm carpal tunnel: $310 - $360
An authentic carpal tunnel night brace: $40 - $80
Single cortisone injection: $100 - $300
*Myofascial release massage: $25-$40 per 20 minute session or $240 using an automated device
*Note that myofascial release massage treatment is not a one-time application. In fact, most patients require daily treatment for at least 30 days to eliminate symptoms completely.
Surgical carpal tunnel treatment costs
Surgery represents the most varied carpal tunnel treatment costs. The cost for the actual surgical procedure is $2,445 - $5,354. These figures depend on two major factors. First, it depends on which of the two surgical procedures you have (open release surgery is generally less expensive than endoscopic surgery). Also, it depends on having the surgery in a hospital or outpatient surgical center. Generally, the hospital fees are much higher.
The average costs during the carpal tunnel surgery recovery time vary the most. This time period represents the fees for hand physical therapy and rehabilitation. The rehab period can last for months up to a year, and cost upwards of $29,000.
Much of the rehab costs (and time) depend on several factors, which vary greatly from person to person. These include:
Type of surgery used (open release takes more healing time than endoscopic).
If there were surgical complications.
Patient’s overall health (e.g., smokers take longer to heal).
The patient’s dedication to therapy.
Patient’s normal speed of healing.
Any discounts to offset carpal tunnel treatment costs?
With non-surgical treatment products, there are usually discounts via coupon codes and special offers. The costs are relatively low to begin with, so don’t expect too much savings. On the other hand, physical and massage therapists will almost always offer substantial discounts with multiple, repeat visits. In fact, the discounts can be quite substantial.
The picture is much different with the surgical options. Carpal tunnel surgery is BIG business. And it’s so competitive that there are BIG discounts to be had at every turn. Talk with your surgeon. Most will discount their fees if you’re not insured. Usually, they also arrange discounts for cash or up-front payments.
The same goes for the hospital or surgical center. Speak with them about their uninsured rates. Finally, most physical therapy and rehabilitation centers offer various kinds of discounts. They differ according to the complexity and length of time your rehab requires.

In the end-stage capitalist/plutocrat/oligarchic hellscape that is the good ol US of A, I have medical insurance through husband’s work.
I still can’t afford to access anything but primary care. And even that is a hardship some weeks.
I need two surgeries at the moment for conditions that cause me daily pain. I cannot afford either at a 20% coinsurance. I’m beginning to wonder if Fibro is the incorrect diagnosis due to some new symptoms that align more with MS. But that means specialists at a higher copay, diagnostics and tests at that 20% coinsurance level, etc.
And this is considered “good” insurance. We make too much to qualify for extended Medicaid for us, although the kids are covered there.
Starting to wonder what a rotator cuff (supraspinatus tear) surgery and carpal tunnel/ulnar nerve release surgeries would be in, say, Mexico or Costa Rica or something. Because if it’s less with the cost plus getting a passport and travel... might as well. Because that’s how broken our system is.
And I’m lucky, because I have insurance at all.

What Are Carpal Tunnel Surgery Costs?
If you have carpal tunnel and you're facing an operation, it's fair to ask what a carpal tunnel surgery costs. Today, carpal tunnel syndrome is big business. In fact, it's become one of the costliest problems in America. It's the most commonly performed operation after back surgery. Moreover, 5 million people will be diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome this year alone. That number is expected to increase steadily every year without an end in sight to this condition.
The reason for the jump in carpal tunnel is that more and more jobs require stressing your hands. For instance, jobs needing typing, graphic arts, and assembly line work are exploding. More and more people are experiencing the hallmark signs of carpal tunnel. These are pain, tingling, and numbness in your hand and fingers. Most times, they wake you up at night. And it seems that braces, heating pads, ice, pain medicines just won't make the problem go away.
For most, the journey starts the same
Most people begin their carpal tunnel journey when the pain, numbness or tingling gets to be too much to deal with. Then most people do one of three things.
They try to treat the condition by themselves using non-surgical options. They can be highly effective - if done correctly. In fact, many good non-surgical options exist. And the NIH and AAOS say that non-surgical options will cure symptoms 90% of the time. That’s great!
Many people do nothing and let the condition take its own natural downhill course. This is not a good idea because it’s uncommon for carpal tunnel syndrome to just “go away” by itself.
Other people elect to have carpal tunnel release surgery. This surgery comes with a host of costs associated with the procedure and recovery time. Of course, it has risks and dangers not associated with the non-surgical remedies.
Perhaps you and your doctor have chosen to look at surgery to solve the problem. Therefore, this article will focus specifically on carpal tunnel surgery costs.

How much carpal tunnel surgery costs
The cost of carpal tunnel surgery (also called “carpal tunnel release surgery”) varies greatly. Mostly, the cost differences are due to several factors.
Open carpal tunnel release surgery usually is less expensive (but much more traumatic) than
endoscopic carpal tunnel release surgery
In the USA, the cost for each surgery depends on the facility (Ambulatory Center versus Hospital), your insurance company, and your geographical location. Insurance company reimbursement is highly variable and always changing. Thus, check directly with your carrier.
Geographically the cost of carpal tunnel release surgery in the USA varies from state to state. And the differences can be huge. Also, it’s usually more expensive in the USA than in other developed countries. Of course, the quality of the surgeon, their skill, and their experience with new technology is a big consideration in any other country.
Ambulatory center carpal tunnel surgery costs
Carpal tunnel release surgery requires 30-45 minutes for the procedure. The carpal tunnel surgery cost in an ambulatory center (or surgical center)
averages $3,215.
This breaks down to include:
physician services of $736 (which includes routine postoperative care)
outpatient facility fees of $1,291 (overnight stay is extra)
anesthesia services of $405
Obviously, the costs will increase if the surgery takes longer due to unforeseen problems. In addition, complications after surgery (bleeding, infection, etc.) will increase the cost.

Hospital carpal tunnel surgery costs
The carpal tunnel surgery costs in a hospital averages $5,377.
This breaks down to include:
physician services of $767 (which includes routine     postoperative care)
hospital facility costs of $4,200 (including a 2-day stay, where each day is approximately $1,800)
anesthesia services of $410
Unlike with ambulatory centers, the cost in a hospital generally does not increase if the surgery takes longer.
Carpal tunnel surgery costs after the operation
Okay, so the carpal tunnel release surgery is over. However, the rest of the treatment needed to relieve carpal tunnel syndrome must continue. Hand rehabilitation and physical therapy are almost always mandatory post-surgery. Rehabilitation time and can vary from weeks to months or even a year.
Mostly, the time and cost it depends on how well the patient recovers and their dedication to restoring their hand. It is not uncommon for rehabilitation and physical therapy costs to exceed the cost of surgery.
The range of costs for the entire carpal tunnel journey, including surgery, rehabilitation, physical therapy, and other work-related expenses, is generally between $12,500 and $29,000.
