Selling a car can be a complex process, especially if the vehicle is still on loan! Tumblr media
What does “under finance” mean?
When a car is under finance, it means there is an outstanding loan on the car. Most car loans are secured, where the car serves as collateral. If the borrower fails to make repayments, the lender can repossess the car to recover their losses. Secured car loans require the loan to be paid off or transferred when the car is sold. If you have an unsecured loan, you can sell the vehicle without restrictions, but you must continue making the loan repayments if the sale price doesn't cover the entire loan.
Is it legal to sell a car under finance?
Yes, it is legal to sell a car under finance, but you must pay off any outstanding loan once the car is sold. For example, if you sell your car for $18,000 and owe $5,000, you must use part of the sale proceeds to clear the loan balance. Depending on your loan terms, you might need to pay break fees or early repayment charges, so it's important to check your loan contract or consult your lender for cash for cars in Gymea and other locations.

Sirens // Tina Cane
I.
I’ve been meaning to tell you that the skin around her eyes was thin
with blue veins fanning out like ferns     that she was pale for a Puerto Rican
and that she spit and threw change at my feet as I waited to cross the street
to tell you that I wouldn’t let her man take me for hot dogs at the Second Avenue Deli
or to Jade Mountain for pork fried rice     that I knew what a hat like that meant
to say    his diamond crucifix the way he swayed his coat     flicked sunflower seeds
from between his teeth     strutting behind the line of parked cars     I’ve been meaning
to tell you that the parking lot on the corner was not always a dorm     that once I saw her
bloodied and on her back beside a car      that two kids laughed pulling rings off her fingers
as she squinted in the sun     that I put my backpack on both shoulders     readied my key
that I ran from the sound of the sirens
II.
To tell you my dad drove a cab for forty years     kept a red bean he got
from an Ethiopian guy in the back pocket of his Levi’s to ward off hemorrhoids
that he wrote me notes throughout the night on the margins of his fare sheet     stuff
like  “eat yogurt for osteoporosis”     that he listened to Tosca for another life in which
he didn’t have his foot on any pedal     didn’t ever have to chase a punkass kid to get his
money back then end up buying the kid a sandwich      to tell you that he was a Jewish guy
from Brooklyn     what the fuck he’d pound the wheel     cut off cut short     another Brooklyn
fare     not going back there with no return trip over the bridge     to tell you that he drove
like a pro back when the medallion itself was a thing of beauty     deco-like     clicking
its nickel intervals with approximate precision     the weight of it enough to crush
just about anything
III.
I’ve been meaning to tell you that my mother and father once fought
for fifty hours straight in our basement apartment off Second Avenue
that the table fan was set to oscillate as they worked their way through
recriminations     cups of coffee     a carton of Marlboros     that my mother
tossed a day’s worth of meals into her flashing wok at hasty intervals
as my father paced the room     been meaning to tell you that the girls
on the block scraped pavement in their platform shoes like weights just outside
our one gated window     that we often heard Peaches the transvestite weeping
about a Hasid john from Delancey Street or a guy from Staten Island who liked
to rip out her hair     meaning to tell you that they made the movie Taxi Driver
right around the corner the year before     that I thought my dad might have been in it
since he drove a cab     had also been an actor     was once a bartender down on Bleecker St.
that he said I was too young to see such a film and about Saturday Night Fever
my mother said definitely not
IV.
That there was a Nordic Track bought in 1996 still in its box
blocking the way to the coat rack on which my dad hung his London Fog
$3,000 in its pocket for me to collect     as he had requested from his hospital bed     plus stacks of cash
from the safe deposit box    from under his mattress and the Polly-O Ricotta container in the freezer
beside the Eddy’s Light Ice Cream and empty ice tray     been meaning to tell you there was $30,000
in my purse by the end of the day     to tell you that I tried to buy a giant stuffed peacock from a shop
on Christopher St. the day he died     but ended up lugging a duffel bag of twenties to Greenwood
Cemetery instead to purchase a plot for him on the hillI’ve been meaning to tell you that cash
is how a cabbie’s daughter pays her father’s bills     to tell you there was a wall of books by his bed
a broken shutter on a split hinge     piles of newspaper clippings to be filed per a system that didn’t exist
that he left his hack license on the bed-stand with the pocket knife we gave him     the carnelian ring
the paper birthday crown my children made     and made him wear buried in plush animals on the carpet
in their room     that there was a rucksack of photos and mementos from his old friend Wallach
when my dad cleared out his place but never had the wake     to tell you that he never
even opened the bag after humping it up the stairs     just talked to Wallach in his head
every day till the end     about the girl in those photos     about articles he should have read (via Tupelo Quarterly)

He gets weighed every six weeks and they review his progress and mealplan. For exercise, I mostly throw food or treats down the hallway but I've also taught him to catch them in his mouth (or maybe it's the chonkiness?) so he's always moving! he also loves toys featuring feather on strings and wire, laser pointing (for two minutes before he's annoyed), and he especially loves Target scratch houses. Gotta get those reps in.. As the Finnish sun sets, we run to the sea to swim in the breathtaking cold. This, says one woman, is It at once a lovely description and a dispiriting one. The word utopia is another coinage from Greek and it isn an optimistic one. Storyline. Acting. Character development and overall uniqueness which creates attachment. The 16th birthday party was very early on the show and that's an example of the inconsistencies in the show in later seasons it's stated that he's been to all her birthday parties. And Lorelai says multiple times 연천출장샵 throughout the show that Luke has been like a father figure to Rory. He did more than just parties and errands, he's always coming to their rescue and helping out. Is that $10k your entire savings, or do you have a separate emergency fund if you 연천출장샵 use that to pay for a car? I wouldn recommend depleting your savings for a car you should keep at least a month or two worth of efund on hand. Lots of people here will recommend you use what remaining to buy a used vehicle for cash, which is fine if that a route you want to take. If you have good credit though, you can also take out a car loan at a low rate (. I unsubbed after her "good morning to everyone but those who use St Ives apricot scrub" tweet. I literally can't stand how rude and hateful she is to anyone who disagrees with her. I know there is controversy over that scrub but I personally know people with beautiful skin who have been using that scrub religiously for years and years. It wasn the cheating that mattered to her, at least not in the novels. She barely knew Ned a month before he went off to war. It was the chance that Jon would have a greater claim to Winterfell than her children. Your cross to bear as Mama is to take care of your kids, not to make the family happy. If you can be comfortable with the situation (or some compromised, like constant adult supervision and Grandpa having strict instructions for no physical touching beyond a supervised hug or whatever), then so be it. Best to discuss this now with your man, b/c if he can abide by that, then you two don belong together / shouldn be having kids. These results aren't necessarily surprising. Think about the first few times you lifted weights or went for a run. Your body was likely sore and stiff afterward, but the more you performed these activities, the more your body acclimated to them, and the less pain and discomfort you felt. Good luck with everything. He was your everything because u defined it that way. U can redefine that in my opinion. The minister had inquired of Hester, with no little interest, the precise time at which the vessel might be expected to depart. It would probably be on the fourth day from the present. "This is most fortunate!" he had then said to himself. I don't think i'm there yet, but I've come a long way. It will be a long road to accepting what happened to you and that it wasn't okay. There will be ignorant people who will tell you, "she's your mom, you have to forgive her." you don't have to.

What Is the Process for Cash for Car Services?
While purchasing a new car is always an exciting time, you also need to consider what will happen to your current vehicle after the purchase. When the time comes to sell your old car, you'll have a few options to choose from, like trading it in at a dealership or selling it privately for a higher price. Cash for cars in Dee Why and other places is one of these options. This post will go into great detail to answer any questions you may have about how the cash-for-cars service operates!
Tumblr media
Know the services that offer cash for cars
Finding the right buyer will be just as challenging when selling a car privately, even though the sale price will be higher. Selling a car privately will undoubtedly take longer than trading it in, mainly due to the constant enquiries from low-ball hunters. Consider a cash-for-car service near St. Ives and other locations as an alternative if you don't want to spend weeks selling your car and don't want to sell it at a dealership for a low price.
Old cars that are no longer safe to drive on our roads are typically purchased in cash for car services. Cars that are damaged and cannot be registered for use on public roads are also covered by these services. The company's primary business plan is to disassemble the aforementioned vehicles and use the remaining metal bodies for scrap.
Typically, cash for cars in St. Ives and other locations will tow the vehicle from the point of sale to the yard. Occasionally, though not often, automobile owners bring their vehicles to the yard. Cars stacked up in rows, waiting to be scrapped, are a very common sight. Rebuilt and salvaged parts are kept in warehouses by certain cash businesses and are available for purchase. Scrapyards can recycle over 80% of any given car, which is how cash-for-car services run their businesses.
Cash for Cars services are authorised to purchase written-off or unregistered vehicles. There is very little chance that your unregistered or written-off car would be successfully sold if you tried to sell it privately. The same is true for cars with minor damage. You won't find anyone willing to pay for an automobile involved in an accident. Cash for cars near Dee Why and other regions, on the other hand, is genuinely interested in your unwanted car.
Selling recycled auto parts: While some parts taken out of an old car may require refurbishment, the majority of the parts are still functional. Cash for Cars services may choose to sell these parts directly to customers or through a specialised used-parts sales component.
Scrap Metal: Following the extraction of all the car's functional components, the body of the vehicle—which is primarily made of steel and aluminium—is sold to designated facilities for further recycling.
We hope you enjoyed reading this blog; thus, share it with your loved ones!

Top 6 Best FK8 Civic Type R Coilovers and Lowering Springs
While the Honda Civic Type R FK8 might be the best front-wheel-drive car to ever be offered to the general public, it’s not perfect. Straight from the factory, it has a really tall ride height to help accommodate the strangely large 20-inch OEM wheels.
Luckily, it’s pretty easy to lower your Civic Type R thanks to the vast aftermarket support. Unfortunately, it can be a little difficult to find the perfect suspension setup for your needs and budget. To help you find the perfect suspension setup, we’ve created this short guide of our favorite FK8 Civic Type R coilovers and lowering springs.
HKS Hipermax IV SP
When it comes to JDM tuning manufacturers, HKS has long been one of the biggest names around. For the FK8 Civic Type R, they offer a plethora of different parts. The specific part we’re looking at is their Hipermax IV SP coilovers. What’s unique about these coilovers, is the included HKS Error Canceller with cancels the error message that appears when the stock suspension is removed.

The Hipermax IV SP coilovers offer 30-way adjustable damping with adjustable camber in the front. The front coilovers use a pillow ball upper with the original upper design in the rear. The only downside to the Hipermax IV coilovers is the price tag, but if you want the best performance possible, these coilovers are hard to beat.

Tein S.TECH Lowering Spring
Of course, not everyone needs the adjustability or performance benefits of aftermarket coilovers. For many enthusiasts, a lower ride height is all they need. Tein is one of the most popular aftermarket suspension companies in the world, and their S-TECH springs for the FK8 Civic Type R are a great way to lower your ride height without breaking the bank.
Price: $345
-25mm ride height
5.3kgf/mm front
4.8kgf/mm rear
These lowering springs will drop you FK8 by about -25mm front and rear. This is achieved by making the springs physically smaller, which requires a higher 5.3kgf/mm front and 4.8kgf/mm rear spring rate.

H&R Sport Lowering Springs
For FK8 owners who are looking for the most affordable way to lower their car, we recommend H&R springs. Lowering Springs vs Coilovers
Deciding if you want lowering springs or coilovers mostly comes down to your goals with your Civic. While lowering springs are very cheap and simple way to reduce wheel gap, they simply cannot offer the performance of coilovers. The lack of performance from lowering springs comes from a mismatch in damping with the OEM dampers.
Your OEM dampers are designed to work within a specific movement range and work with specific spring rates. Lowering springs can put your OEM dampers outside their ideal movement range and most lowering springs will also use a higher spring rate.
Aftermarket coilovers, on the other hand, are designed with spring rate and damping in mind. Aftermarket coilovers match their stiffer spring rates which stiffer damping, resulting in much more controlled body movement.
On top of the better control, most aftermarket coilovers offer damping, preload, and height adjustment, which opens up a world of performance benefits if you understand how to properly tune your suspension.
To put it simply. if you want a cheap way to lower your ride height and give your Civic a more aggressive look, lowering springs could be the best option. If you want the most performance possible and adjustability, aftermarket coilovers are definitely the better option.
Still Don’t Know What You Want?
If you’re still not sure which suspension system is best for your FK8 Civic Type R, let our world class performance specialists help you decide! You can reach us by phone at 1-480-966-3040 or via email at [email protected].

Arplis - News: Almost ready for its close up: A first look at the reopened Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas
Five words you never want to hear on the other end of the line as youre packing for vacation: Your reservation has been canceled.
A preemptive call to The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas, to inquire about airport transportation options had me breaking into a sweat, and not the kind induced from lounging on a beach under the Caribbean sun, as an agent tried to pull up my impending booking. Luckily, with a little digging, they were finally able to locate the still-intact reservation but I couldnt help wondering if the mix-up was an omen for the trip.
For more TPG news delivered each morning to your inbox, sign up for our daily newsletter.
The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas was in its third month of operation when I visited, according to one staff member I spoke to, after being closed for a $100 million renovation to repair damage from Hurricane Irma in 2017. As I learned from my colleague Summer Hull, you just never know what youre going to get when visiting a newly opened property.
What I found upon arrival was a hotel that may be open, but wasnt quite offering guests the full resort experience yet which could be a dealbreaker for some considering the cost of a stay at this property.

Booking
The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas is a top-tier Category 8 Marriott Bonvoy property. This means award nights will cost you 70,000 points for an off-peak night, 85,000 for a standard night and 100,000 for a peak night.
Predictably, a stay even mid-week at this property wouldnt come cheap in the middle of high season for the Caribbean. Had we paid cash, we would have paid about $1,000 per night, but we wanted to keep cash outlay to a minimum so instead chose to redeem 155,000 points (for one off-peak and one standard night) instead, which TPG values at around $1,240.
The resort quotes a daily resort fee of $85, but I was only charged $50 upon checkout.
If youre low on Marriott points and are eyeing a redemption such as this, consider signing up for theMarriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card, which is currently offering a sign-up bonus of 100,000 bonus points after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first three months after account opening.
Location
Getting to the island of St. Thomas from New York was a dream: a quick nonstop flight from Newark (EWR) to St. Thomas (STT) meant wheels down by 2:50 p.m. local time. The drive from the airport to the resort, however, was a different story.
Related:Best ways to use miles in the Caribbean
The Ritz-Carlton is located on the east end of the island, 10 miles from the airport. The hotel does not have any type of shuttle service in place and the island does not currently have Uber so your only option is to grab one of the many taxi vans waiting in the airport lot. You have two taxi options: Pay $90 cash for a private shuttle, meaning you have the van to yourself, or $18/person to ride in the same vehicle but with additional passengers. And by additional passengers, I mean seven additional passengers so get ready to get close if thats the route you go.

You could also rent a car, but beware that the quality of rental cars in the U.S. Virgin Islands is often not great, and you drive on the left-hand side in the USVI, which could be difficult for those used to right-hand driving on the mainland.
Because St. Thomas is very hilly, be prepared for a long drive (in our case, about 45 minutes) up very steep and windy roads. If youre prone to car or motion-sickness, maybe skip the free shots offered at the airport Margaritaville on your way out.
Check-in
My husband and I arrived at the resort around 3:50 p.m. We were met by friendly hotel staff who directed us to the check-in desk where a cold towel and delicious iced beverage (with optional Cruzan rum topper!) appeared within minutes. Despite official check in being a mere 10 minutes away (4 p.m.), the room was not ready. This was especially hard to comprehend after a staffer mentioned the hotel was only 40% full at the time of our visit.

The receptionist asked us to drop our bags with the bellman and wait at Sails, the resorts closest beach-front restaurant, while the room was readied. As we hopped on a golf cart to head down to the water, my husband had to ask that our luggage be moved from the middle of the unattended valet driveway to a secure storage room.

An hour later, we finally received a call that the room was ready. We waited for 15 minutes for the bellman to meet us at Sails as directed by the receptionist but eventually gave up when no one showed and walked back up to the entrance to retrieve our luggage and room keys.
Room
The room especially the bathroom at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas, was the highlight of the stay.
The term well-appointed is defined as having a high standard of equipment or furnishing when it comes to a building or room and this certainly was true of our standard king room. All furnishings looked brand-new, modern in design and the room was spotless.
The bed was large and luxurious, with plenty of pillows to go around and crisp, clean linens.
Tumblr media

Outlets were within arms reach of any horizontal sleeping position and ample in number. The only downside to the bed setup was that the thermostat was obscured behind a large lamp on the bedside table, making it almost impossible to read or adjust the temperature without doing a furniture shuffle or some type of neck gymnastics.
Tumblr media

Oddly, no protective or decorative covering was fitted onto the lower mattress, which made for an strage-looking setup.

That said, the top-of-the-line bed situation coupled with the sleekest and quietest ceiling fan Ive ever seen made for a great nights sleep.
Aside from the bed, the room also included a chic faux-reclaimed wood desk with leather chairs under an oversized rattan light fixture.

There was also a sleek set of drawers under the flat-screen TV that housed a mini-fridge and DIY Nespresso coffee station with all the fixins.

There was also a chaise lounge in the room that, while large for the room, was quite comfortable.

The closet was big enough to fit an entire resort wear collection and housed the rooms safe, which was easy to use and large enough to accommodate a bevy of electronics and travel documents.

The balcony was spacious albeit no frills, with two basic loungers and chairs at the ready.

This outdoor space would have been the ideal spot for relaxing except for the fact that the view from our building was of the ongoing grounds construction as well as the back of Sails, with limited views of the water. If a good view is a priority, make sure to request a room in one of the buildings that faces east and not north.

As the grounds and property were still very much a work in progress, many of the foot paths were muddy from landscape.

The bathroom was beyond spacious with a shower stall, private toilet, large vanity area and deep soaking tub that vacation dreams are made of.

The vanity had ample counter space between around his-and-hers sinks as well as an additional shelf for storage needs. The lower shelf of the vanity was lined with automatic track lighting that turned on as soon as you walked in a smart and useful feature.

Food and beverage
Our first dining experience on the property was at Sails waiting for the room, where we began our vacation with high hopes.
Tumblr media

The service, as we would experience throughout our stay, was top-notch. The local staff were friendly, attentive and the best part of every meal.
The chips and guac (called Hallamole on the menu, $14), on the other hand, were frankly terrible. Stale cuts of various root vegetables were piled into a basket with a side of guacamole that was oxidized and tasted store-bought.

Tuna poke ($29) and the Red Hook fish tacos ($20) followed suit.

The good news is youll have no trouble finding solace in the frozen drinks, a favorite being the B.B.C. (Baileys Banana Colada, $16), which was basically banana pudding in drink form with booze mixed in.
Tumblr media

Dining at Alloro for dinner, where fine dining transports you to Sicily by way of St. Thomas, was not as disappointing but not great. We were told the restaurant was booked out when we walked in, and that the only seats were at the bar, which was more than fine with us, but odd considering all the empty tables.
Tumblr media
A beautiful space, to be sure. (Photo by Jane Frye/The Points Guy)
An eggplant caponata starter ($16) was served atop an arugula salad with no dressing and undressed grilled bread. The pizza ($21) and pasta dish ($19) were not offensive but nothing memorable. The resort is lucky to have such incredible staff working, who at least made the experience pleasant overall and also knew how to make a great Negroni.
Tumblr media

The propertys surf-and-turf restaurant, Bleuwater, was not open for dinner during our visit (despite the website listing hours of operation as 6 to 10 p.m. daily), which reception was unable to confirm or deny when we called for reservations.
The restaurant was, however, open for breakfast (if you can find it the space is unmarked except for faded lettering over a nonworking entrance). It was the best meal we had during our stay. Opt for the breakfast buffet ($32/person) and enjoy fresh juices, pastries, a selection of standard breakfast items from the hot bar and a cold bar of meats and cheeses.

A hot bar came stocked with all the basics: scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and breakfast potatoes. (Photo by Jane Frye/The Points Guy)
Again, the service was amazing.
Not wanted to try our luck again at Sails, we ventured over to the beach-front lunch spot on the residence side of the property. We opted for what seemed like the safest choices: a crispy chicken wrap ($19) and a steak quesadilla ($27). Not exactly island food, but it did the trick.

On our last morning, we opted for room service: bagels and cream cheese, fruit smoothies and coffee ($79 total). We were quoted at 35 mins but the food did not show up until almost an hour after we ordered.

The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas, also offers a Club Lounge (complete with a killer balcony area) where youll find a light breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks (!) and dessert served daily for $400 per day per reservation.
Given how expensive it is to dine on-property and how, well, not great, the food was during our stay, I would 100% opt to go this route if returning. On our walk-through one evening the selection of bites looked incredible (much better than what was being offered at the actual restaurants) and the self-serve bar speaks for itself.
The other move would be to take advantage of the local restaurants and bars that are a short taxi ride away in Red Hook.

Amenities
When all the construction is complete, guests will have access to two pools on the resorts properyt. However, only one of the two was open while we were there, so we were given access to the pool at the adjacent Ritz-Carlton Club residence property.
The pool that was open at the resort was a smallish infinity pool just steps from the beach. The pool deck was adorned with about a dozen lounge chairs and a few cabanas.
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
The cabanas remained untouched during our stay. (Photo by Jane Frye/The Points Guy)
Due to construction, a large metal fence limited the deck space as well as the sunlight at the open hotel pool, which is probably why we rarely saw many guests hanging here.
Tumblr media
Some serious shade. (Photo by Jane Frye/The Points Guy)
The pool was also noisy as one would expect from a working construct site. The pool currently under construction should be a nice family-friendly option once complete.
I called to check in with the resort about the progress of the construction on this pool, and the agent I spoke to told me that it should be open by the end of next week, as its just awaiting a final water inspection.

The best part of the beach was the sunscreen station. A nice touch for those on a quick vacation not wanting to check a bag full of liquids or not wanting to buy a new bottle on the island.
Tumblr media

The pool at the Ritz-Carlton Club next door, however, was massive and offered a much better selection of lounge chairs and access to sunlight for those seeking an extra dose of vitamin D.
The beach on the residence side was also in better shape (softer sand, better beach chairs and trees for the sun-averse). It was about a five-minute walk from the hotel pool area, and worth the trip.
Tumblr media

The gym was brand-new, with plenty of cardio and weight machines to choose from, and offered a better view of the ocean than our room.

The tennis courts looked great but we were unable to use them due to frequent rain showers and high winds during our stay.
Nonmotorized aquatic activities were included with the stay. We took out and enjoyed kayaks and snorkeling gear. Standup paddleboards were also available, although we opted not to take them out due to the rocky nature of the beach.
Service
The restaurant and grounds staff at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas, were excellent from start to finish: friendly, speedy and knowledgeable. Reception was hit or miss, at times unable to answer basic questions about operations. We did receive prompt service to repair the toilet as mentioned above, which was appreciated.
Tumblr media

Overall impression
The grounds at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas, were beautiful the flora and fauna abundant and tropical and thats even with them being still in progress.
Tumblr media
Blooms on blooms. (Photo by Jane Frye/The Points Guy)
As construction is ongoing, there was a good deal of mud on footpaths and in grassy areas where crews were working during our visit. The footpaths are also very poorly lit, so a walk to dinner or around the property at night was precarious.
The room was top-notch and the staff wonderful. Once construction on the hotel pool is finished, it should be a nice play to catch some rays, relax and take in the scenery in peace.
Once the final details are finished on this property and operations have had a chance to smooth out the kinks, this resort will be worth considering for your next visit to St. Thomas, especially if you can do it on points. The food could still be a gamble, but if you opt for the Club Level option and/or dine in Red Hook as a Plan B, you should be good to go.

The only reason she ended up where she is today was the simple fact that life hadn’t been exciting enough. She’d always imagined she was the kind of girl destined for great adventures and romances. That she would never have to settle for a life of being ordinary. Throughout her adolescence, Camilla fit into the role of Queen B perfectly, hand-picking minions and crafting a perfect image that never cracked. If she even felt a tear about to ruin her make-up, she’d pinch herself or bite her lip until the feeling went away. Pain reminded her what it took to be beautiful, and how easily it could become ruined.
Eventually, boredom took hold, and her pretty, perfectly wrapped, little life wasn’t good enough for her. So she packed up her father’s gun, all her favorite outfits, made sure she had cash to last for as long as she needed, and took her favorite car in the garage. It wasn’t legal, but Camilla felt she was above the law. Thankfully, she wasn’t as helpless as she appeared either. Her father made sure she knew how to protect herself and it only made it that much more possible for her to feel confident in her choice.
She’d heard of the Crybabies, late at night at the clubs, where one could pick up all kinds of information if they listened closely enough. Camilla struck up a conversation with one of them after she’d gathered they were a part of the gang, using her charms to coax her way into their good graces, enough for her to eventually get invited to join the gang. She loved her life with them. She felt like she was among true peers, and anyone who got on her bad side got written off until she thought they’d properly “paid.” It didn’t always make her the most likable, but after time she truly became one of them, in more ways than one.
One night they’d all headed out on some robberies, Camilla deciding she’d visit her old home to replenish her bank account, with another Crybaby in tow. She’d been in her father’s office when she heard hollering downstairs, rushing down to find that her gang-mate had shot him, and before she could stop it, her mother raced down the stairs, sobbing, only to met with the same fate. After all, she’d never told him where they were going, that they were family, and her father greeted him with his shotgun. She should’ve known better, only she’d been thinking of herself, not the possible consequences. She never told anyone that they’d been her family and she’d still deny it to this day. After their death, she made sure she got her inheritance, and put it all behind her, writing it up as some tragedy that happened to her instead of one she had a hand in.
Personality: argumentative, shallow, fun-loving, coquettish, confident
Secret: “I know I should care I caused my parents’ death, but I don’t. I don’t even miss them a little.”

Toronto Travel Prep Guide
Tumblr media
Toronto, Canada can sometimes get confused with just another city, as it’s neither the capital nor the cultural favorite like Montreal. However, there’s so much more to it than skyscrapers! The neighborhoods like Kensington Market, Distillery District, Queen Street West, and Chinatown offer so many chances for exploration. The yearly Toronto International Film Festival is one of the city’s most popular events. Shops, ethnic eats, and street art all make Toronto a great destination for all types of travelers.
If we’ve left anything out or you’d like to join the conversation, please leave comments below!
Toronto Travel Expenses Tips
Toronto is a reasonably priced destination for travelers, especially when compared with other North American cities like New York or Miami. As long as you know how to cut corners, you’ll be able to get plenty of bang for your buck in Canada.
Enjoy the free attractions. You don’t have to spend a fortune to appreciate Toronto. For example, the street art that covers the city is completely free, as are the parks! Tour Guys offers a number of free tours of the city. The Art Gallery of Ontario has free admission on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The Bata Shoe Museum offers “pay what you like” admission on Thursdays from at 5 pm. The Scarborough Historical Museum also offers the same system every day.

Skip cabs and cars. Leave the car behind because you won’t need it unless you’re venturing out further. Public transportation is easy to use, including the metro, buses, and trams. If you’re trying to go even cheaper, there’s bike rentals. Toronto is also extremely walkable and doesn’t have too many hills. I had no trouble walking from the bus station to my hostel.

Stay in one of the neighborhoods. The advantages of staying outside of the Central Business District are many. Not only will you save some loonies, but you’ll also get to experience Toronto like a local. I recommend the Kensington Market area.

Essential Gear to Pack for Toronto
Pack for Toronto like you would just about any other big city. It certainly depends on the season, but summers are mild and winters can be extra chilly with snow. Learn how to pack light for cold weather travel.
Comfy shoes– If you plan on walking during most of your visit, which I recommend, be sure to bring comfortable walking shoes.
Light waterproof jacket– Not only is this good to have in case of a sudden rain storm, but it will also keep you from having to buy a cheap poncho at Niagara Falls!
Cash– Change over your money to use on public transportation. Cards are accepted just about everywhere else, but I didn’t have coins one night on the train and had to borrow.

Books to Read Before Visiting Toronto
There are a number of books set in the city of Toronto but not all reach national acclaim. But these are a good few to start with before your trip.
Cat’s Eye by Margaret Atwood– A controversial painter returns to her home city of Toronto for a retrospective of her work. While there, she remembers her childhood and friends. Grab a copy on Amazon.
Headhunter by Timothy Findley– A librarian is reading a book when a character jumps out of the page. She frantically searches the streets of Toronto in search of him before it’s too late. In the meantime, a number of children end up in institutes with the same disease. Grab a copy on Amazon.
The Killing Circle by Andrew Pyper– A failed novelist joins a writer’s group in hopes of finding inspiration. During this time, a serial killer is terrorizing Toronto. He listens to the tales of a fellow writer, which sound familiar to what’s going on in real life. Grab a copy on Amazon.
Consolation by Michael Redhill– Telling two stories at separate points in time in Toronto, a geology professor throws himself from a ferry and a young apothecary is struggling to make his life in a new country. Grab a copy on Amazon.
Lemon by Cordelia Strube– A high school girl named Lemon has a dysfunctional life and decides not to try and fit in any longer. Grab a copy on Amazon.
Movies to Watch Before Visiting Toronto
Fans of shows like Degrassi may know the skyline well, but the independent film scene is also thriving in Toronto.
Breakfast with Scot– Based on the novel of the same name, a gay retired hockey player lives with his sports lawyer partner in Toronto. Their lives are changed in when they take in his brother’s stepson. Grab a copy on Amazon.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World– Another film based on a popular series, Michael Cera stars as Scott, who must battle the ex-boyfriends of the girl he likes in honor to win her heart. Grab a copy on Amazon.
This Beautiful City– The lives of four Toronto residents collide one night when a woman jumps from her window in a suicide attempt and runs into a couple trying to recover from addiction. Grab a copy on Amazon.
The F Word/What If– The film had different names in some countries, but it starred Daniel Radcliffe. He stars as a medical school dropout who falls in love with his best friend, who happens to be with her live-in boyfriend. Grab a copy on Amazon.
Top Things to Do in Toronto
Toronto has the most attractions and museums of any Canadian city, so you certainly won’t get bored. If you plan on visiting a number of them, get a CityPass or other combination pass. And don’t forget about the outdoors as well!
CN Tower– The most imposing structure in the Toronto skyline, go to the top for the best views or even a walk along the edge!
Niagara Falls– While not in Toronto proper, this easy day trip showcases the beautiful waterfall that straddles the American and Canadian borders.
St. Lawrence Market– This food hall predates the current trend, offering butchers, bakeries, and much more.
Casa Loma– Once a private home, this castle is now a museum and event space where you can see how the other half lives.
Hockey Hall of Fame– Sports fans will appreciate a trip to the museum devoted to Canada’s favorite pastime.
Centre Island– The island across the harbor from downtown has its own theme park and petting zoo, open seasonally.
Art Gallery of Ontario– This art museum’s collection includes works from Africa, Oceania, Europe, and, of course, Canada.
Bata Shoe Museum– It seems like an odd choice for a museum, but this one has four galleries of footwear ranging from ancient China to the modern day.
Royal Ontario Museum– Memorable exhibits at this museum include Chihuly glass, dinosaur fossils, and Egyptian mummies.
Tours– There’s a tour for every interest including street art, beer, history, and even pork. I recommend Urban Adventures and Tour Guys. Or search on Viator.

Food and Drink in Toronto
You may not think of Canada when it comes to well-known dishes, but you will certainly eat well in Toronto.
Poutine– Ah yes, a Canadian classic. The hand cut fries are topped in brown gravy and cheese curds and can be found all around town. Some varieties are standard while others are topped with pulled pork and other offbeat toppings.
Craft beer– Toronto has a surprising number of craft and local breweries like Steam Whistle, Left Field, and Granite breweries.
Caesar– Don’t call it a Bloody Mary! This Northern interpretation uses Clamato juice instead of tomato juice.
Butter tart– These tarts are totally decadent with butter and sugar in a pastry crust.
Anything at Tim Horton’s– You can’t go to Canada without stopping by this quintessential coffee shop for a cup and a doughnut.

May 2020 – Towcester to Hulcote, Northamptonshire
Sunday mornings since the lockdown began have taken on a pattern of their own, with breakfast at around 10, usually a poached or boiled egg, with toast while we listed to the radio, followed by grabbing a camera, and a raincoat and heading out for a walk. There are several suitable destinations within a short distance including Hulcote. I’ve been running up the road which used to be the main road to Northampton before the now-busy A43 dual carriageway was built, and is thus known as Northampton Road, now a quiet road into the old town centre. At the top of a long steady hill, the road forks, with one fork going right towards the tiny hamlet of Hulcote. In the early spring the verges are thick with snowdrops along there, and in the summer it’s shaded by mature trees which makes it a very pleasant route for a runner keen to avoid pedestrians and cars alike without roasting in the sun.
The road to the hamlet basically ends there in a large loop so there are very few cars to contend with, though there is a grain store which does attract the odd lorry, and the occasional delivery driver. The grain silo, glimpsed in the background, associated with Home Farm is a modern intrusion that negatively impacts the setting of the conservation area. Further research has told me that the houses there are in a style referred to as “Bricklayer’s Gothic”, all bar the old school and the Manor House. There seems to have been a settement on the site for a very long time, but he “Chapel Village” as it’s sometimes known, in its current form is rather more recent.  There is a massive village green, with some splendidly mature oak trees, and around it sit eight cottages in two groups of four. They were built as an estate village for Easton Neston, which I have written about before.
It was the 3rd Earl of Pomfret who had them built, probably between 1800 and 1822, removing some farmhouses to do so, and although I can’t prove it, I have a suspicion that the new buildings may have been divided in two originally. They are pretty spacious if not, and it wasn’t a time when the working classes would have had a lot of space. In 1816 the trustees of the Hulcote Charity Estate set up and supported a school for the poor children of Easton Neston Parish and provided a schoolmaster. The school ran for around 100 years before it closed due to lack of funds and attendance, but the building still stands, alongside a small lodge, and next to what might be the last remaining phone box in Northamptonshire! It’s apparently an early example of a model village, and it owes its cohesion to the fact that it belonged to the Easton Neston estate until very, very recently. It means that the original designs have not been diluted or demolished. Certainly according to the papers I was able to find, almost all of the properties within the conservation area are listed including all the cottages, and the earlier Manor House.
The history of the village prior to this is more than a little obscure, though the Old Ehglish name elements suggest a Saxon settlement. Sadly there is no firm archaeological evidence, though there are some iron age finds, and a quern stone, perhaps prehistoric or Roman, was found but no one thought to write down the location where they had found it so it may or may not be from Hulcote. There is an Iron Age and Roman settlement to the north east of the parish and all srts of small finds gave come to light. Additionally there are some medieval settlement remains on the north side of the village green. Ploughing has brought to light lots of stone-rubble and brick, associated with post-medieval pottery, tiles, glass and bone that match to a map from 1806. There are also two rectangular fishponds, both now dry, which were linked by a shallow ditch. There is another ditch in the woodland on the right the lane coming into the village, and this is thought to be a Saxon ditch, possibly a boundary marker,  though it should be noted that the first actual recorded mention of Hulcote is from 1086.
The council report that sets out the details of the listing of the village has this to say about the architecture as a whole: “The western side of the green comprises four, largely identical distinctive detached cottages all in brick. Along the southern edge lie four pairs of cottages broadly similar in appearance to the detached properties but with single storey flanking wings. Pevsner describes these houses as: ‘A group of eight very loveable and little funny houses along two sides of the green.’ These buildings are two storeys in height and are built directly onto the road facing the green. Notably these houses are largely unaltered and retain their original plan form, symmetry and original features which are important to their character and appearance individually and as a group.”
Across the way from them is one of the former main entrances to Easton Neston Estate, with two matching listed lodges either side of the road. There were five entrances which doesn’t surprise me because the lodges on Northampton Road include one that is named “Third Lodge”. I think it’s fair to say that the family that built Easton Neston had both delusions of grandeur and cash to splash! The access from Hulcote is now private, with signs to prove it, but does demonstrate Hulcote’s former links with the House and is an important feature of the history and design of the village. Also “a number of footpaths still exist that link Hulcote to the surrounding countryside and settlements. To the north a footpath runs to the site of the former nunnery at Showsley, to the south a footpath connects the village to Easton Neston House, and finally a footpath runs east-west connecting the village to the former railway and Shutlanger respectively”. So maybe another day for those.
Oh, and there are alpacas in the fields by the entrance to Hulcote now, along with two small shaggy ponies of a type that anyone who ever read a Norman Thelwell book will easily recognise. The alapacas even have their names on the gate – the ponies do not appear to!
Just for good measure, I’d like to leave you with a shortened version of the timeline of the town of Towcester, starting in AD 45:
45—Romans build the fortified garrison town of Lactodorum on the junction of Watling Street.
917—‘Tofeceastre’ attacked by an invading Viking Army. Watling Street becomes the border between Saxon Wessex and the Danelaw. The “burh of Towcester” was thought to have been previously fortified by King Alfred of Wessex’s son, King Edward the Elder of Wessex.
1066 or later—Motte and bailey castle constructed on eastern side of Towcester.
1130—Building of Bury Mount.
1170-1200—Late Norman “Transitional” church is built and is the basis of the plan of the present St. Lawrence’s church.
c.1280—Benedict Caetani (also known as Gaetano) was Rector of St. Lawrence’s. Later elected Pope Boniface VIII at Naples on 23rd January 1295.
1470—Edward IV gave 40 square feet of stone from his quarry at Hanley in the forest of Whittelwood for building and repairing the steeple, church and churchyard at Towcester.
1483—Richard III confirmed grant by Edward IV for stone for church. (Baker p.328)
1544—Henry VIII granted bailiffs and inhabitants of Towcester two fairs – October and March.
1551—Church mill recorded (Baker)
1573 June 6th—Storm of rain and hail of 1.5 inches resulted in flooding which brought down six houses. One child drowned. (Baker p.322)
1574—Former Knight Templar’s Mill at dissolution of Hospital of St John of Jerusalem granted to Robert Dudley. Site of Mill not traced.
1575—Plague at Towcester.
1604—Thomas Shephard born in Towcester. He was a puritan preacher who emigrated to America and became the first chaplain of Harvard University.
1608—Plague in Towcester. Thomas Shephard was sent to Foscote to escape it.
1643, February—Prince Rupert plundered Towcester and neighbourhood, then proceeded to Warwickshire.
1643, August—A section of the Royalist Army was quartered at Towcester. The parliamentarian Newport Horse surprised Towcester one night, slew the sentinels and about 30 men, took two colours and twenty prisoners to Newport.
1643, November—Prince Rupert, based at Easton Neston, sent out a proclamation to all the local villages demanding labourers with shovels to fortify the town.
1643, December—Prince Rupert, having made Towcester very strong by constructing water filled ditches, moved to Oxford but left a strong force at Towcester.
1644 Jan 18—Royalists slighted the works at Towcester and abandoned the town to join the army at Oxford.
1646 January—Towcester was head quarters for Colonel Whalley’s Brigade of Horse.
1665—Plague hits Towcester.
1675—The Bell Inn (182 Watling Street) built with stabling at the rear.
1684—Charles II granted Sir William Farmer a weekly Tuesday market and 3 fairs to be held on the Feast of St Lawrence, Shrove Tuesday and the 22nd March.
1695—Thomas Bickerstaff of London, a native of Towcester, gave the 3 almshouses he had erected to the Sponne Charity. The almshouses stood beside the Silverstone Brook, and were demolished in 1970.
1707/8—Fire causes £1057 of damage.
1749 March 25th—Fire at the George Inn – boy with candle accidentally ignited straw and kicked the burning straw into a stable which within a few hours had spread to 36 houses. (Baker p.324)
1781—Jenkinson’s bank started on a site which was still a bank until around three years ago. Jenkinson was a silk merchant, linen draper and woolstapler.

New Delhi: Auto stocks that were staring at a dismal future with little investor interest till early April, but they have suddenly come alive on Dalal Street. As the economy opens up amid a phase-wise relaxation under Unlock 1.0, auto companies have resumed operations at their plants, but production and sales remain tepid. After zero sales in April, May sales were just a fraction of the monthly sales that auto firms used to see in the pre-Covid19 months. Volumes across companies were down around 80 per cent year on year.Hope, if any, came from tractor sales numbers, reflecting good demand in rural sector, which also happens to be a key market for the two-wheelers.BSE Auto Index is up by 41 per cent in last two months, as investors lapped up the beaten-down stocks to bet on early demand revival.Commercial vehicle manufacture Escorts has an been outperformer, jumped 65 per cent in last two months and up 55 per cent for the year to date. Ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala holds 7.42 per cent stake in the company.Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors have gained 72 per cent and 51 per cent, respectively. Maruti Suzuki and Ashok Leyland have risen up to 40 per cent. But all these shares are still down around 10 per cent on a year-to-date basis.Two-wheeler stocks Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, TVS Motors and Eicher Motors have surged over 38 per cent in last two months, but are still down up 24 per cent on year-to-date basis."The worst may be behind for auto stocks,” says Sanjiv Bhasin, Director, IIFL Securities. “The auto sector has suffered in last two-three years due to the transition from BS IV to BS VI, high cost of insurance and liquidity crunch due to the NBFC crisis.”FY20 was a very difficult and challenging year for the auto industry, as volumes declined sharply across segments. Near-term demand could still remain tepid due to job losses and pay cuts across industries.“As the country opens up, people would try to avoid public transport to the extent possible, and use their own vehicles for commuting. That could be a positive for auto stocks," said Rusmik Oza, Executive Vice President, Head of Fundamental Research at Kotak Securities.Industry watchers say social distancing would be the new normal in the post-Covid-19 world. And that is likely to increase demand for personal vehicles. However, unemployment, job cuts and work from home may crimp volume growth.Umesh Mehta, Head of Research at Samco Securities, said social distancing being the need of the hour, people will prefer means of personal mobility to shared mobility. “This is definitely a tailwind for the auto sector."Will that lead to an overall rise in volumes? Doubtful. “There are other major headwinds such as reduction in purchasing power, unemployment and future income uncertainty, which will pressure volumes,” Mehta said.Oza says demand for two-wheelers and lower-end hatchback cars could rise due to social distancing. Lower ticket sizes two-wheelers could be the first preference of consumers in the near future."We expect near-term uncertainty to continue and the recovery for the sector to be slow. Companies with good cash balances, competitive position and rural and farm sector presence should be stock pickers’ choice at the moment", said Mehta.Decent harvest and normal monsoons are expected to benefit the farm equipment manufactures and tractors, a segment that has already reported a strong recovery in May with robust volumes.Bhasin said a bumper rabi harvest would ensure better-than-expected sales in two-wheelers and tractors. “That way, auto seems to be on the best course over the next few months,” he said.Samco’s Mehta said after the recent rally, investors should be selective in picking auto stocks. Hero Motocorp and Escorts remained his top picks, which he said could benefit from faster rural recovery and farm sector push.Bhasin is bullish on Hero Motocorp, Eicher Motors, M&M, Escorts, Ashok Leyland and Maruti Suzuki.Oza from Kotak Securities picked M&M and Bajaj Auto as his top picks."If the much-awaited scrappage policy materializes, it would make commercial vehicles stocks outperformers in the sector," said Bhasin of IIFL Securities.Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently said the government would soon introduce the vehicle scrappage policy, under which recycling clusters may be established near ports. He said India can emerge as the world-leading automobile manufacturing hub in next five years. from Economic Times https://ift.tt/3eLRnE2

Solo Travel Destination-Beyond Prague-Karlovy Vary
Solo Travel Destination-Beyond Prague-Karlovy Vary- For the holidays, I am off to the Czech Republic and the fabled spa, Karlovy Vary. Set in the north of the country’s Bohemia region on the German border, it is known in German as Karlsbad/Carlsbad.  It has been a top vacation spot for more than 100 years. While the hot springs are the prime reason for its fame as a wellness vacation destination, it is also a popular ski spot.
Solo Travel Destination-Beyond Prague-Karlovy Vary: Overview:
Karlovy Vary was named for the 14th century, Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV, who is credited with having “discovered” it.  In the 15th century, fabled 1401, King Wenceslas IV granted special privileges to the town of Karlovy Vary. There have been many famous visitors from Russia’s Peter the Great to the German poet Johann Goethe, the latter having visited 13 times!
In the 21st century, it is still one of the Czech Republic’s (and Europe’s??) most sought after spas. Known for its elegance and grand architecture, it is a great spot for a solo travel destination.
See also this detailed local history.
Things to Do:
Hit the slopes.
Go cross-country skiing.
Stroll the banks of the Tepla River.
Hike when weather permits.
Luxuriate in the hot springs.
Take the cable car to the Diana Observation Tower.
Have a spa day with a massage.
Visit the Museum of  Moser Glass.
Explore the Loket Castle. as well as the Chateau Bečov nad Teplou.
Tour the Church of St. Anne in Sedlec and the Gothic Church of St. George.
Solo Travel Destination Beyond Prague-Karlovy Vary: Getting there:
By car, bus and train
For my trip, besides mainly going online, I bought the Lonely Planet paperback book, “Prague & the Czech Republic”. It is a good way to take a self-guided tour plus have lots of practical advice.
Where to Stay:
I could not resist a real splurge: I booked a week at the Grandhotel Pupp founded in 1701. (Yes, it is pronounced “poup”!) I first came across it watching “Last Holiday” starring Queen Latifah.  Loosely based on an earlier British film,  (SPOILER ALERT!), her character mistakenly thinks she is dying in 3 weeks. She decided to blow all her cash in Karlovy Vary at this Old Europe hotel trying out extreme sports with nothing to lose. James Bond can also be seen relaxing in a Grandhotel Pupp suite in “Casino Royale”.  (Film buffs may also want to catch the Hotel Thermal’s s globally reknowned Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.) If you are not a film buff, you will still find lots of Old World charm here.
The Grandhotel Pupp also has some sol0-priced rooms at less than $200/night with spa access. For dates and prices there or other lodging options, see our Booking.com search engine on our Home Page for options from unrated economical spots to more 4 and 5-star splurges. See also our Czech Travel Packages and our search engine, the Solo Travel Pricing Tracker.
In addition, our blogs on other leading Czech World Heritage Sites include Telc and Trebic. Lastly, for everything you need to know beyond the above, check out the Karlovy Vary Official Tourist Site.
