Taufers Castle or Castello di Tures is a beautiful medieval castle in South Tyrol, Italy. The castle is so attractive and picturesque that several directors chose it as a setting for their films like Roman Polanski who shot The Fearless Vampire Killers here. It was built in the 13th century and belonged to the von Taufers family. Originally a wall built on a high cliff protected inner strictures like a tall watch-tower, a residential house and other auxiliary houses. It was a Romanesque ensemble, which transformed into a well-protected Gothic compound after it was acquired by the von Fieger family in the 15th century. At that time the castle was reinforced with towers, tower gates and drawbridges which are still there today. The castle has 64 rooms out of which about two dozen can be visited on a guided tour. Starting from the 17th century the Taufers Castle was gradually deteriorating for some 300 years. Photo by @mario___dangelo 😍🙏🏻❤️

Pécel is only 33 kilometres from Budapest. The local Baroque castle of peculiar atmosphere was a meeting place of scientists and writers. The members of the Ráday family emerged from the nobility of their age as patrons and creators of art. Gedeon Ráday enlarged the family library systematically and took up the cause and popularised literary and artistic life. His book collection of about twelve thousand volumes included the most excellent works of all branches of science, classical basic readings and the literature of the French Enlightenment. The architecture of the palace of Pécel bears the stylistic mark of the palace of Gödöllő. The fabulous wall paintings of the ceremonial hall were done by Gedeon Ráday who used Bernard Picart’s copperplates. - Following World War II, the palace was renovated according to Antal Thomas’s plans between 1953 and 1956, and then it worked as a hospital until 1997. Castello Montalto Dora in Piedmont, Italy. It was built in the 12th century on Mount Crovero as Castrum Montesalti. It is an irregular square structure with round corner towers on high walls with walkways and a massive square keep protected by the walls. The castle belonged to many noble lineages including the Duchy of Savoy. The castle witnessed al lot - it was destroyed several times, rebuilt several times and finally restored. Favorite building in all of DC! You can have a breathtaking panoramic view of the city once you take an elevator to the top of this Post Office Tower--I highly recommend doing it! However, it's apparently closed due to construction work until 2016, and a new Trump Tower and Jose Andre restaurant is underway near it. The last part isn't important, but I just wanted to include some context. 😆 Also, you can't bring your mail here, even when this building is open again. Sorry.
