“You’re seriously wearing that?” Dongpyo said.

“What? Don’t I look cute?” Mya held the phone up the mirror so he could see.

“You look fine. Skirt’s a bit short but….seriously? That’s what you’re wearing on a rap show?”

“It’s a show about showing everyone’s skills in a diverse range of styles.”

“Yah,” He snorted, prompting her to hold up the phone so he could see her face. “Are you just reading the slogan for the show?”

“Maybe.” She winked. “But I like this outfit. It represents how I got my start. Plus, people might underestimate me.”

“You’re not actually competing.” He reminded her. “But sure, where the sexy school uniform if you want to.”

She hung up on him.

Despite all of his teasing, he had agreed that wearing her uniform from Produce X 101 during her appearance on Good Girl was a good idea. It would stand out, it would be memorable, and while it did kind of play to her older, more innocent image, the fact that the shirt now showed an inch of her stomach and her skirt was a little bit shorter than it had been when she first got it also helped show off that she’d grown up since then.

Besides, as Dongpyo had said, she wasn’t actually competing on the show, she was just a guest judge. They’d asked if she would do a performance, and she wasn’t going to turn that down. Everglow were all waiting out in the crowd, as they were also judging with her, but she’d been the only one they asked to perform. To be honest, she’d felt a little bit weird about it, but the girls had assured her that it was a chance to show her skills, while also promoting the group.

She’d prepared a very short rap performance, only a minute total, complete with a very rudimentary choreography. It wasn’t perfect, but she was excited to show her skills in front of many artists that she looked up to.

“I heard that I’d find you in here.” A voice said from the doorway.

Mya spun, bowing deeply when she saw who was standing there. “Cheetah, sunbae! I didn’t see you there.”

“I just got here.” Cheetah smiled. “Getting ready for your performance?”

“Yeah.” Mya nodded. “It’s short, but I hope it’ll be good.”

“If you’re half as good as you were when I met you, you’ll be fine.” Cheetah looked her up and down. “It doesn’t look like much time has passed.”

“Ah, well….” Mya twisted one of her pigtails. “I wanted to do something to show my skills along with the image of me when I got my start.”

“I wasn’t criticizing it.” Cheetah promised. “You’ve just grown up a lot, and it’s kind of funny to see you still wearing your Produce uniform. I’m  surprised you kept it, after everything that happened.”

“Oh.” Mya looked down. “Well….they made it special for me, because I was the only girl. And even though I love Everglow so much, I did get my start with X1.”

“With your boys.” Cheetah laughed. “Sucks how that went down. You kids deserved better. But I’m glad that you’re killing it now.”

“I’m trying my best.” Mya bowed again.

“You guys must be due for a comeback soon, right? You debuted with Everglow in what, February?”

“Ah, yes.” Mya nodded. “Um, we’re working on one for the fall. A mini album.”

“Did you work on it at all?”

“I…actually I…” Mya mumbled as she spoke. “Wrote the title track.”

Cheetah’s eyes widened. “You wrote it?”

“Produced, composed, lyrics.” Mya nodded. “Uh, Jiwon – I mean E:U helped with the lyrics as well. I have some producing credits on the rest of the album but I really tried to focus my energy on the-“

“Title track.” Cheetah finished, before snorting. “Unbelievable.”

“Sunbae?” Mya tilted her head. She wasn’t sure what part of what she had said would have offended the rapper, but she really didn’t want someone she looked up to so much to be mad at her.

“It’s just unbelievable. Less than a year since I first met you and you’re already at this level.”

“I…the song might not be good.” Mya offered, still unsure of what direction the conversation was heading in.

“It’ll be good.” Cheetah nodded. “I…you know what, you should probably focus on your performance.”

“No! It’s okay.” Mya exclaimed. “Uh…did you want to tell me something?”

“I just wanted to let you know that I’m working on a new album.” Cheetah began.

“That’s awesome!” Mya exclaimed. “I have My Number on my playlist right now because it’s just so-“

“And, if you’re up for it…I’d like to talk to you about figuring out a collab.”

Mya blinked. “What?”

“In a song. I’d like to work with you.”

“But I’m…but you’re….you’re a rapper, and I’m a rapper….and you haven’t even seen me perform yet and I-“

“Mya. Oh wait – Enya.” Cheetah grinned. “I’d really like to work with you. I said it when I met you and I’m still saying it now: you have a lot of potential. And I’d really like to be a part of it.”

Mya blinked once.

And then again.

And then she started jumping up and down. “Yes, yes, yes! Thank you so much! It would be an honour and a-“

“Calm down.” Cheetah laughed. “You’ve got a performance and a comeback to focus on. But I’ll give you a call, okay?”

“Okay.” Mya bowed deeply, flipping her pigtails forward onto the ground. “I can’t wait!”

“Alright then.” Cheetah turned to leave. “Impress me out there.”

“I will!” Mya promised, waving as she left the room.

The second she was gone, she turned back to the mirror and took a deep breath.

“Okay, Mya, you can do this.” She gave herself encouragement.

And then she rolled her skirt up another inch.

Koreaboo : People Allegedly Swore At Cho Seungyoun When He Was Called As A Debut Member For X1

Article : They were cursing at him as he walked the stage. During the finale of Produce X 101, Cho Seungyoun was called as the 5th member to join the final debut line-up of X1. When he was called, he did not shed a tear and walked to the front with a calm expression. When he got on stage to deliver his speech, he was very composed. He even comforted Dongpyo, who cried after he was called. According to people who were at the live broadcast, however numerous antis were shouting insults at Cho Seungyoun and swearing at him. A lot of the insults had to do with his mother, as he was raised by his mom alone after his father’s death. Some of the things the haters said include, "He is the reason why his dad died. Aren’t kid of single-parents always the ones with a severe lack of attention?" Those who watched the finale live in the studio said that the swearing was so intense, if Mnet were to play it, it would have caused a controveries. They also stated that it was probably loud enough for Seungyoun to hear as he walked to the main stage. Some other hurtful things antis said include hoping Seungyoun dies, even bringing up the death of late SHINee member Jonghyun. As well as, "You can just tell that Seungyoun will end up like SHINee’s Jonghyun. Is there any possibility that Seungyoun could die of a mysterious death?" People are also saying that when the cameras panned to trainers Lee Seok Hoon and Cheetah, they seemed surprised with how loud the cursing was. Cho Seungyoun could be seen crying after the live broadcast. Fans of Seungyoun have since come out to support him. Many have referenced his past controversy with his song lyrics, but now that he has changed and is a different person now. Fans are also saying to be more humane, and that no one would like being cursed at in such a way.

tvN’s Upcoming 18-hour Express Idol Survival Audition Show PRODUCE X 101 Shakes the World with Top Idol Boy Group in the Making

Striving to provide audience with latest contents promptly, tvN Asia proudly announces its very first 18-hour express variety show – PRODUCE X 101 – enabling K-pop lovers in Asia to keep up with this highly-anticipated survival audition show. PRODUCE X 101 will premiere on tvN in Asia from 4th May (Every Saturday) at 5PM (GMT+8).

The global idol survival audition programme PRODUCE X 101 features 101 male trainees born before 2005, in which they will compete in multiple rounds of elimination and be handpicked by the audience (a.k.a. national producers) through both online and live voting, to form the ultimate boy group. Majority of the contestants come from renowned K-entertainment companies, while there are also some talented individual trainees. All contestants have started their dorm life in March and are undergoing intensive trainings involving singing, dancing, stage performance and team work.

Apart from the strong trainer line-up, including rapper Cheetah, singers Lee Seok Hoon and Shin Yoomi, as well as dancers Choi Youngjoon and Kwon Jaesung from previous seasons, this year, one of the most sought-after actors and heartthrob Lee Dong Wook will take up the MC role to represent all the “national producers”. Making it even harder to survive, the original ranking system with Grade A through F welcomes an extra Grade, X, depicting the lowest bunch in the spectrum.

Additionally, opinions from the national producers will weigh more significantly, PRODUCE X 101, for the first time ever, gives the voting right for title track’s centre position to the viewers. The title track “X1-MA” (_지마), which means “Don’t” in Korean, receives enthusiastic responses from worldwide fans and the performance video has garnered over 3.5 million views to date.

Same as previous seasons, PRODUCE X 101 is directed by the famous Producing Director (PD) Ahn Joon Young, who will deliver intense survival format and impeccable stage performances that rock audience’s visual and audio sense! Furthermore, following the success from previous seasons’ debut groups, I.O.I, Wanna One and IZ*ONE, the winners of this season will receive a five-year contract instead to create a longer impact.

'Hug Me'

The most awaited announcement of my life. Lol! Lee Dongwook said before announcing the 5th place for the debut member, "This trainee might be able to aim for the main rapper position on the debut team, X1. This trainee received 929,311 votes in total. It is Cho Seungyoun from Yueha!" The cheers for him was so loud and even their trainers including Ms. Cheetah made a standing ovation and looks so proud of him. Even all the 101 trainees especially Park Sunho were really happy for Seungyoun. He really deserved it. I cried literally while he's walking in the aisle through the stage, like those girls who caught in the camera, crying just like me that time. Mr. Lee added, "Cho Seungyoun ranged from the main vocalist to main rapper during every evaluation and received rave reviews for his perfect performance. The title 'all-rounder' is a good fit for a talentes trainee like him. Among the 20 trainees on this stage, he started out from the lowest ranking, 67th. He has miraculously accomplished his dream of making a debut. Congratulations." He started his speech like this, "First of all, I'd like to thank National Producers who supported me. Actually, I didn't expect to make a debut. So I didn't prepare anything. However, I want to thank a lot of people. The 101 trainees, trainers, Representative Lee, my family, Mom, Dad, Uncle, Aunt, Chae Won and Hyun Woo. I'd like to thank you all. I hope everyone who loves me will be filled with small happiness in their lives. I will do my best to satisfy you and bring happiness to your lives. Please continue to support me. Thank you." Dong Wook gave a message to him and said, "He started out from 67th place and he finished 5th place. Great job. I hope to see more from you, Seungyoun. Congratulations. Please take the seat with your ranking." And Cho happily went up to other debut members. Representative Lee also added, "He has outstanding talents that it must've been hard for him when he failed to become a singer. I feel grateful that he didn't give up. Hopefully, he will develop as a beloved artist on the world stage this time." As for me, he deserved to be in the top rank of this competition. If not, they're wasting such a talented guy in front of them, so grab it. He's really a big catch for the group X1. Sadly that he's alone that time that's why he only mentioned his family members. Or they were there but the camera didn't focus them? But I think they're really proud of this kid. Wohooo! A proud noona here! Lol!

“This is a terrible idea.” Mya murmured.

“What?” Zi Yue asked.

Mya sighed. They were moments away from their first evaluation, and she couldn’t let herself panic now.

“I’m just nervous.” She said in very slow Korean.

Tony patted her affectionately on the shoulder, and she gave him a tiny smile in reassurance.

“Next trainees!”

Mya took a deep breath and led the boys out into the main room. She faced the trainers, feeling like she wanted to sink into the floor as they introduced themselves.

“Hello, we are Hongyi trainees!”

She focused on the ground, only looking up when it was her turn.

She drew a smile with her fingers. “I’m your smile, Mya!”

“Wow, your Korean is really good!” Lee Dong Wook exclaimed. “How long have you been in Korea.”

“I’ve been in Korea for six years.” She said with a bow. “I’m originally from Japan.”

They nodded, asking some questions of the other boys before they were instructed to prepare for their performance. They’d chosen Growl by EXO, which was a choreography that they all knew.

However, it didn’t take long for Mya to remember what Zi Yue and Tony’s Korean levels were. They hadn’t been training together long, and while Mya loved them both, they were both still at a low level of Korean, and it showed in the song.

When they finished their performance, Mya could see the look on the judges faces, and bowed in apology. This was her fault for not being able to lead her team better.

“Mya?”

“Yes?” She looked up as Cheetah called her name.

“It says here that you’re a rapper.”

“I am.” She nodded.

“Could we hear you?”

Mya swallowed. “I haven’t written any in Korean yet. Is it alright if I do a cover?”

Cheetah nodded. “Whatever you’re comfortable with.”

Tony gave her a reassuring smile, and she took a deep breath before launching into the rap section of Up & Down by EXID. LE was one of her favourite rappers and she knew almost all of her raps by heart.

It was immediately obvious to everyone watching that this was what she was comfortable with. She fell very comfortably into the rap, and her facial expressions were amazing.

When she finished, there was a light round of applause. She bowed and let out a quiet ‘thank you’.

The trainers said nothing, and quickly started discussing amongst themselves what the ranks would be.

Mya was practically bouncing out of her shoes she was so nervous, but she tried to collect herself, when the judges turned back to her.

“Rank A”

“There is no one.” She heard Tony whisper.

“Tony.”

Mya couldn’t help but gasp in surprise, but her surprise was quickly taken over by joy as she clapped her hands. Tony started to cry, and she gently rubbed his arm as he spoke the judges.

“There is no one else in rank A.”

Mya nodded. She hadn’t really expected any of them to get A, so the fact that Tony had was amazing.

“Rank B.” Mya was certain she wasn’t breathing anymore. “Mya.”

“Really?” She gasped. “I’m B?”

“You are.” Cheetah said with a smile. “You have talent, don’t let me down.”

“I won’t!” Mya promised.

Zi Yue got his rank, and then they walked off the stage together. Mya was practically skipping by the time they were out of view of the judges.

“We did so good!” She beamed.

“We did!” Zi Yue was grinning.

“That went a lot better than I thought.” Tony agreed.

“Group hug!” Mya announced, opening her arms.

Both boys were taller than her, but they obediently leaned down and wrapped her in a hug. They broke only when a staff member told them to grab their letter stickers for their nametags.

Zi Yue helped Mya put hers on, and they turned to leave, backing away when they saw other trainees coming down the hallway.

Mya didn’t know any names, but she recognized the JYP trainee and the four eSteem trainees.

“Hello.” They bowed politely as the others entered the room.

The all greeted them in turn.

“You guys did really well.” One of them, Mya read his nametag as Yuri, said with a smile.

“Thank you.” Zi Yue said shyly.

“We worked really hard. I’m sure you guys will do amazing.”

“I can’t believe they gave you ranks A, B and C.” The JYP trainee said.

Mya studied him. He didn’t seem like his sentiment was meant as a compliment. Instead, it seemed a bit condescending.

“Well, they judged based off what they saw.” She said simply.

“Mya.” Tony warned in a low voice. “Don’t start a fight.”

“I’m not.” She promised. “Good luck out there.”

“It might be because you’re the only girl, and you need screentime to be worth the risk for the network.”

“Mya is very talented.” Zi Yue protested.

“Yes, she is.” The eSteem trainee named Seunghwan said. “And we should all be going.”

Mya gave him a thankful smile, and they moved past them and down the hallway, leaving for the backstage.

She sighed deeply. “Sometimes, boys, the world really irritates me.”

“You handled it well.” Tony promised. “Now, let’s go watch the others.”

“Yeah! And see if there even half as good as we are!” Zi Yue grinned, wrapping his arm around her waist.

“Oh, alright!” She laughed. “Let’s go!”

And she couldn’t help but feel, that even though this was off to a great start, that she had a lot to get through before she could reach her dream.

History: Mya was born in Yokohama Japan. She has one older brother who practically raised her as her parents worked a lot. In 2012, she travelled to Korea to begin auditions, and finally was accepted into Hongyi in 2013. She has trained there since, and was selected as the ‘wild card’ trainee for ‘Produce X 101′, and competed as the only girl. 

Following the disbandment of X1, Mya followed fellow X1 member Seungyoun to YueHua Entertainment, where she was quickly added as a member of Everglow. Mya is very loving and caring, but she can be a bit immature, which comes from being the baby of her family. Her tiny height made all of the Produce boys baby her too, but she doesn’t really mind. It’s always a surprise to them when she raps because they forget that she’s one of the best. She still struggles with Korean sometimes.

She was a favourite of rap trainer, Cheetah, and when she was selected to debut in 11th place (barely making it), she cried.
