Broke: Pachacamac was a silly uncle!
Woke: Pachacamac was a power-hungry, ruthless warlord. Except when he was with his tribe's last child and then he was a silly uncle.

JUST FINISHED EPISODE 6!!! Before I unblock the Knuckles Series tags, I wanted to give my closing thoughts.
Overall, I really REALLY enjoyed this! :D I laughed a lot, the tension was good, the animation and choreography was incredible, and everything was just all around amazing. I wish we got to cut back to Green Hills every now and then though. Getting a little side plot with Sonic and Tails would have been cute and very nice. But I really enjoyed Wade and Knuckles' dynamic, though I think Knuckles should have had a bit more development and screen time.
One thing I absolutely ADORED was the theme song, along with the constant theme of older music scattered throughout the series. I gasped out loud when I saw Wade's discman. (My sister still has one!) I grew up listening to CDs. When it was time for a roadtrip, my family would grab one of our big CD cases for the car ride. So looking at that theme song animation made my heart absolutely soar. ❤️ And while I didn't recognize any of the songs they played in the episodes (save for a couple), I can really appreciate the vibe. I also grew up listening to my dad's music. Stuff from when HE was growing up. It just felt right to have Wade into all kinds of music.
I have only a few complaints. First: Wanda was kinda really, really annoying. She got better as time went on, but she was really bad at first. She felt like a kid who never grew up. Like seriously, why is she still picking fights with Wade??? You're both adults! Act like it! The whole dinner scene over all was just painful to watch. It felt waaaay too similar to some dinners I've had with my own family, which yes, points for accuracy I guess, but I just felt like Knuckles the entire time. Awkward, wishing they'd just quit arguing and enjoy dinner, feeling out of place. I'm not sure if that's what they were going for or not. (The fight scene to protect the candles was very nice though :D)
Second: Pachacamac. I dunno, he was really annoying, and not at all like his power hungry, war mongering, cold, game counterpart. I also feel like he was really unnecessary? He probably could've been written out really easily. His 'funny' bits weren't even that funny and there was so many other opportunities for comedy during the episodes. He was really unneeded.
Finally: Almost everything in episode 4. The . . . low quality rock opera thing???? I'll admit, that the way they did all the practical effects and stuff was really cool! But everything else? WHY. Why are we doing this? Why are we singing? Why are we cutting Knuckles out of almost an entire episode? Why?????? I feel like this episode could've been done so many other different ways. HOWEVER! I really enjoyed the bit at the end. Seeing Wade stand up to Sinclair was AMAZING and I was cheering him on the whole time.
I kinda also wish they'd hinted at the third movie a bit. For a bit of set up. But they did clear up that GUN didn't always go by GUN, which I guess fixes our 'how did GUN kill Maria if they were only created after the first movie' problem!
Anyway, save for a few rough patches, this is a really good show! (Probably would've been better with one episode per week though. Can you imagine the suspense factor?? Would've been EPIC!!)

I do like that the knuckles Show kept Pachacamac as an awful person and just hid it under a musical sequence
Because we forget he’s just blatantly LYING due to the shock of a musical and an Iblis cameo
This fucker orchestrated the musical sequence and we forgot about it because it was a MUSICAL out of nowhere

How much of echidna history is going to be retconned in the Knuckles show

i don't think I've ever fully explained this here, but my headcanon for the chair is that Knuckles was royalty, or at least the echidna tribe equivalent of royalty. He's used to having a throne so now that he has a singular home again, he's rebuilt his throne.

My Theory on Pachacamac and The Iblis Trigger
There is talk about how much they changed Pachacamac from a warmongering, power hungry tribal leader, to a goofy grandpa figure, but I think the truth of Pachacamac's nature might be somewhere between the two interpretations. Despite his friendliness, you can't forget he did lead a clan that wiped out the owls with a singleminded focus on capturing Sonic and reclaiming The Master Emerald. Pachacamac, now a ghost, has visited Knuckles to tell him he needs to expand his tribe. There are no other echidnas left, so he asks the sole survivor to take on an apprentice. "Show him our customs, teach him our traditions, and soon our tribe will grow once again."
Tumblr media
There is no acceptance or acknowledgement of the fact that the clan's current situation is the result of a bloody feud and the destruction of an entire race besides their own. There is also, unsettlingly, no acknowledgement of Tails, Sonic, or The Wachowskis as members of Knuckles' clan.
While there are questionable elements to Pachacamac's approach, his motivations are at least understandable. Knuckles is a minority– the last of his tribe and the only surviving member of his species, so of course his old chief wants to see their traditions and culture preserved.
Things only get really weird when Pachacamac takes hold of Wade– Knuckles' apprentice and the soon-to-be new addition to their clan–and rewrites history. Rather than the tale of a lone owl that the echidnas hunted down in a quest for power, the story is instead of an entire flock of owls that were the aggressors, killing off Knuckles' tribe and burning down his village for no reason other than for the sake of the slaughter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Similarly, Knuckles isn't described as a lost child left behind, but a fellow warrior who battled alongside his father until the bitter end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, knowing that Pachacamac's version of events is wrought with lies leads to one very serious question: What is the true story of Knuckles' battle with Iblis? If there's one thing we know about The Echidna Clan, it's that they are fixated on raw power. They're a warrior-focused society where the best fighter gets the highest honor and the most privileges. They were the ones who crafted The Master Emerald from the seven chaos emeralds. They were the ones who tracked down Sonic when he was a child with the intention of obtaining his power, before Long Claw wiped them out in her final struggle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And who else do we know that was accidentally unleashed in a reckless pursuit of power?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Iblis, the raw power of the sun god Solaris. Iblis, who was sealed away within a child using the power of the chaos emeralds.
Tumblr media
Now, there's no doubt that "The Flames of Disaster" in the SCU are very different from "The Flames of Disaster" in Sonic 06. In the movie universe the flames are merely a type of wieldable power rather than the name of an apocalyptic event. However... what better way to rewrite the fact that the echidna tribe nearly caused the end of the world and locked an immortal fire demon within an echidna child, than by pretending that The Flames of Disaster is just an inherent ability Knuckles unlocked through an epic battle?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What if "The Flames of Disaster" wasn't a power he obtained through a magnificent fight, but a power he survived after it was thrusted upon him by his elders? ... What if one of the many, many reasons reasons his father didn't let him join the fight was out of fear of what would happen if he cried?

Could you pretty please tell me who the fuck pachacamac is and how is he not dead
Tumblr media
Pachacamac is the chief of the echidna tribe in Sonic Adventure. He was a warlord who got his daughter and most of his tribe killed by angering Chaos.
The movie version of Pachacamac was leading the attack on Sonic when he was a baby, and was the one who shot down Longclaw.
As to how he survived...it's a mystery. He might not be alive at all, could be a ghost or a vision. We'll have to wait and see

Hi so I remember when you made the prediction post of what Sonic 3 was about you’ve mentioned about Chaos appearing. I was wondering if you talk more about that because I’m genuinely curious
Hi Hon!❤️✨
I’m more than happy to talk about my Chaos idea from my last post. I genuinely think, and strongly feel, that Chaos could be brought into SCU. There are hints and references that could lead them in with ease.
Tumblr media
In the second movie, we can see a stone-like structure hidden behind trees and huts in the Echidna Village. Take a look at the structure in the background; we see stone engravings of serpents (?) and iconography, flat platforms, columns, and a stairway leaking inside the structure. This is very reminiscent to the Mystic Temple in SA1. The only thing that it’s really missing to label it as the Temple of the Knuckles Clan is the red bar/paint along the outside.
For those of you who are relatively new to the series, this shrine can be found in Mystic Ruins in Sonic Adventure 1. It’s crucial to Sonic history because it’s a marker in Echidna expansion under the rule of Chief Pachacamac. In game canon, it happened a few thousand years ago. The movies make Chief Pachacamac relatively younger (and acting chief when Knuckles was younger). SA1 explains that the temple was also a place of worship for many of its members. Other than it being viewed as a holy place, this is also where the Knuckles Clan encountered Chaos, the God of Destruction. (This is the first known guardian of the chaos emeralds as well). The fight between Chaos and the Knuckles Clan nearly wiped out the entire existence of the echidna due to Pachacamac’s selfishness and attack on Chao. The entity was sealed away in the Master Emerald for years until Dr. Eggman released it into the world.
I know that I’m missing a few extra details here, but I’m trying to make it simple. There’s an excellent gameplay of SA1 here if you’re interested in taking a look at the story. And you can get it on STEAM!
Of course, there is the small tease at the end of the first movie’s novel about Chaos. In the epilogue it hinted that Chaos was submerged in the ocean and causing a storm. However, I definitely believe that the temple shown in the second film is the best example of Chaos appearing. I think that the chances of Chaos appearing in the film are pretty good! Especially if you bring in them along with Amy Rose.

Archaeologists Find 73 Wari Mummy Bundles in Peru
A team of archaeologists from the PUCP Archaeology Program “Valley of Pachacámac” have uncovered over 70 intact burial bundles with carved masks.
The discovery was made at Pachacámac, an archaeological site in the Valley of the Lurín River, located southeast of Lima, Peru. Pachacámac (named after Pacha Kamaq – the “Earth Maker” creator god) was first settled around AD 200 by the Wari, a Middle Horizon civilisation.
Pachacámac mainly consists of pyramids, plazas, cemeteries, and a series of ramps, centred on a sacred zone containing the Painted Temple, the Temple of the Sun, and the Old Temple of Pachacamac.
Recent excavation results announced on the Archeowieści blog, which is managed by the Faculty of Archaeology of the University of Warsaw, have uncovered over 70 intact burial bundles dating from the second half of the Middle Horizon (AD 800–1100).
The burial bundles were found either deposited individually or in group clusters at the foot of the Painted Temple, some of which are wearing “false head” masks made of carved wood and ceramics, a common burial practice of the Wari culture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Professor Makowski, said: “In the pre-Hispanic Andes, no-one died; everyone was predestined to continue living in the parallel world of their ancestors.”
Excavations also discovered wooden staffs with images of Wari elite wearing Tiwanaku-type headgear. They were located in a votive deposit covered with a layer of oyster shell fragments imported from Ecuador.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Wari worshipped the Staff god, the chief creator god, which is often found in both portable and fixed art using different media such as stone, textile, and ceramics. Some scholars believe that some variations of the Staff God are possible depictions of Viracocha or Thunupa, and are the forerunner of the Inca principal gods – the Sun, Moon, and Thunder.

in modern society, men who would have once served as respectable hunters, warriors, and generals are forced to work for weak men that they would have socially dominated in the past. this is an alienating, inhuman aspect of the workplace that leads to high levels of male dissatisfaction. for example, observe chief pachacamac working at a bowling alley,

I'm thinking about Knuckles, and how little we know of him, and how what little we know of him informs what we do know of him, and how that makes some of the writing around him (in various canon materials and adaptations) feel . . . kind of disrespectful, at times?
What we know of Knuckles' backstory is this: he is the last of the echidnas, and specifically a descendant of the Knuckles clan. The Knuckles clan was an empire under the rule of Chief Pachacamac, and when they tried to take the Master Emerald and Chaos Emeralds for the sake of their nation's power, Chaos went on a rampage and wiped most of them out. Pachacamac's daughter, Tikal, sealed Chaos into the Master Emerald along with her own spirit (sacrificing her body in the process), and those that remained enshrined the Master Emerald on a chunk of land that they hefted into the sky to become Angel Island. It's there that they vowed to protect the Master Emerald, but because there were so few of them already, now Knuckles himself is the only one who remains.
What we don't know is: how the remaining echidnas on Angel Island died out, and whether Knuckles' parents were around when he was born or not.
We don't know this, because echidnas hatch from eggs at least in real life, and we don't know that they don't in the Sonic universe. And we also don't know how long it would take for those eggs to hatch . . . essentially, we don't know if Knuckles was born alone on Angel Island, with only the little animals and the Chao there to keep him company. We don't know if perhaps he named himself Knuckles, after a clan he never knew, to try to feel some connection to his heritage. We do know that he doesn't know all there is to know about Angel Island, that he doesn't know the meanings behind a lot of the murals (which is how Eggman was able to trick him back when they first met), which would lead me to believe that if his parents were around, they weren't around for long enough to teach him about his culture or their sacred duty. That perhaps they weren't around long enough to give him a name of his own, rather than just taking the clan name.
All of this is to say, if Knuckles was born alone (or if his parents died when he was too young to remember them), and he's just had to piece together what little he knows about his people and his culture from what there is on his island . . .
. . . then it kind of makes moments in canon when Sonic or others pester him to leave the island or to stop taking it all so seriously feel kind of . . . insensitive at best.
Like, I do get it. Sonic himself doesn't care about his own past, he has no ties to any family (besides Tails) or culture, that's all fine for him. But it's clearly not fine for Knuckles, who very obviously wants that connection, especially if he's the one who named himself after his clan. And while I get it from a character standpoint for Sonic, part of me also feels like writers have validated Sonic's view in things like having Knuckles decide to go on a journey away from Angel Island after Frontiers, after his conversations with Sonic goaded him into it a little. Which again, as a writer I understand, because it's hard to do things with Knuckles if he never leaves Angel Island. You have to bring the plot to him, or else you can't include him. But at the same time, he's literally the last of his people. And the only connection he has to those people, those people who are lost and that he can never get back, are there on Angel Island, in ancient murals and ruins he's not sure he fully understands no matter how many years he spends studying them . . . I don't know, I just feel like some more understanding or compassion could be given to him for this. Like the way his eyes lit up in that IDW issue when Amy returned the echidna artifact to him -- that was something made by his people! That's a part of his history! He may not (probably doesn't) understand its significance, but now that's another lost connection that he has. And while Sonic might not care about things like that, Knuckles does. That's important to him, and that should be respected.
I don't know, that post about how Knuckles is not just a warrior (or, imo, a warrior at all, but a protector instead) has just had me thinking about him the past couple of days. I'm not saying that he should stay locked to Angel Island forever, I do think it does him good to socialize with his friends as well . . . but I also wish that the writing respected a bit more often the fact that he is the last of his kind, that the island and the ruins there and the Master Emerald are all he has left of it, the only way he has any connection to his culture at all. And honestly, much as I love Sonic, and as much as this is an E for Everyone series, I do think that, at times, Knuckles should get to tell Sonic to fuck off when Sonic starts going on one of his "don't be so stuck on your dusty old island" spiels he sometimes goes on. Because it's not really about the island, and Knuckles' feelings are just as valid as Sonic's. Perhaps even more so, on this topic.
But that's just what I've been thinking about.

I was hoping Pachacamac was going to be revealed to have not been changed from his game counterpart and his benevolent, eccentric mentor personality was nothing more than a façade, because not only would that have made it more tragic for Knuckles to have his trust broken again and by someone of his own kind no less, but it also would've paralleled Wade's relationship with his father
That's a good point. I would have liked to have seen after Wade comes back to the house, Knux going up to him and expressing pride that he escaped on his own, and then Wade tells him of the vision. "It was this cool rock opera and showed me your war with the owls and how you and your dad fought side-by-side but he didn't make it, sorry about that by the way, but then some other big lava monster came out and you beat that with the Flames of Disaster and--"
And Knuckles is just standing there like "What the hell are you talking about??"
"Your chief showed me that."
"Pachacamac?"
"Yeah."
". . . that is not what happened. At all. Why would he show you lies in a sacred vision?"
Wade shrugs, and Knuckles starts to wonder about Pachy's true intentions.
I don't trust Pachacamac. Not one bit. I don't know if this is going to come back at any point, or if this was one of those nods to the fans and it'll never be mentioned again. But if it does end up coming back, I think ol' Pachy is plotting something using Knux to cause destruction.
