I finally watched Descendants: The Rise of Red and I am........... deeply baffled and confused by so many of the storytelling choices they made here........................... But I think *puts on tinfoil hat* they could be able to save it if they have the sequel they alluded to go something like:

Red, who grew up with an abusive parent and does not at all know how to be a good little sweethearted Auradon princess, goes through her "Mal breaks down from the pressure and goes back to the Isle" arc with the added complication that she's living with someone who is a stranger to her, and she has to be a disappointment to her mother AGAIN in horrible new ways.

Meanwhile, Chloe realizes that something is DEEPLY wrong with HER OWN home situation now. Maybe Cinderella isn't married to Charming, because she was grounded on the night of the dance (because of Chloe breaking the vase) and couldn't be there to fall in love with him. So Chloe goes to meet Red and convinces her to go back in time again to fix what they messed up the first time.

Blah blah, blah blah, plot, music numbers, fight scenes with way too many unnecessary flips and somersaults, a new wig for Chloe in every scene for no discernible reason. They save the day! They find a way to get Ella to the dance AND prevent the prank on Bridget! But because of what happened the last time, they decide to check that everything's fixed with the looking glass before they hop back to the present.

And they realize that everything has gone back to the way it went the first time, before they jumped back in time at all! Because it turns out that one single prank from a group of people who already hated her WASN'T the straw that broke Bridget's back. It was the fact that her best friend Ella got a boyfriend, married into money, and dropped her entirely, leaving her friendless and vulnerable in a world of people that hate her! Red and Chloe prevented the one prank at Castlecoming, but did NOTHING to prevent further retaliation, and if Ella went to the dance and fell in love with Charming, she doesn't bother to be there to protect or console her friend in the aftermath.

And now Red and Chloe know what they have to do: They have to save their mothers' friendship in order to save Auradon! Because love and friendship and support in hard times is what REALLY saves the day, NOT stopping a few horrible people from doing ONE horrible thing and then dipping out because it's all good now.

They go back to the present, Red tells her mom the truth of what happened, they hug (and the Queen of Hearts mourns the daughter that SHE remembers raising who she is never going to see again, but shh, this is a Disney movie so that bit's glossed over and tossed to people like me who think WAY to hard about the implications of kids movies). In this timeline, Ella and Bridget remember meeting Chloe and Red in the past, because it isn't immediately overshadowed by meeting the love of her life/losing her best friend. Everyone reconciles, and the moms tell their kids that they're proud of them.

Cue big sappy dance number that actually feels earned this time rather than being a payoff for absolutely nothing, and then some little thing goes wrong in the background of the dance number and this time either Red or Chloe gets to say the sequel-baity "Oh, you didn't think this was the end of the story, did you?" line while looking right into the camera. Credits roll to the sound of another China-Anne McClain cover of a classic Disney song despite the fact that Uma was barely in the movie because she's the only cast member who can actually sing.

10 - All The Small Things by blink-182 There was no way for me to know at the time, but this song always plays at Colorado Avalanche games during the 3rd period when the Avs are winning. It became the anthem of their Stanley Cup run, so I guess you could say this was foreshadowing.

11 - The Anthem by Good Charlotte Heard this one at an Avs game and the crowd was feeling very musical. It was a fun sing-along.

21 - Are You Happy Now? by Michelle Branch This time last year I'd finally achieved a lot of goals I'd set out for myself, but I'm the kind of person who is just never satisfied and needs to seek out new goals once I achieve them. So this song really resonated with me a year ago, and it resonates with me now.

Jordan was at yet another cookout in Crenshaw except this time with Olivia.

Instead of sitting alone he sat at the table with everyone, he was sat next to Patience.

They were talking about music again until Coop spoke up.

“Y’all know what this cookout missing?”

“Yeah, sweet potato pie” Patience groaned angrily at the fact Jordan, Spencer, and Chris ate it all

“Yes and no, what I meant was Alexis” Coop said in a duh tone “Who’s Alexis?” Olivia asked “She’s our friend but she barely goes out” Chris responded

“Sounds like Olivia” Jordan muttered “Oh, so she’s cool?” The girl rolled her eyes at her brother “That’s a negative” Jordan gave sarcastic smile

JORDAN POV

“Looks like she’s here” Spencer said making us all turn our heads to the girl opening the gate.

“She’s a little self conscious so watch what you say babyface” Coop said to me

Alexis was absolutely stunning.

She was dark skin kinda the same color as Ms. Grace, the easiest way to saw this is she looks like Keke Palmer and China Anne McClain’s love child.

She looked about the same height as Olivia and she wasn’t wearing any makeup besides brown lip gloss from what I could tell.

She came can sat down in the empty seat next to me.

I tried not to stare but her voice was attractive and the sound of her laugh was just as attractive.

“Hey, J, come get some food with me” My sister called “I ate already” I said “Eat again, your like a garbage disposer” Olivia pulled me out my seat

“Fine, your lucky Ms. Grace just brought out more dressing” I groaned which made Alexis chuckle “Aye Lex you hungry too?” Spencer asked her “Yeah I guess I could eat” She got up

Olivia and I were already fixing our plates.

“You’re staring at her like she has a giant pimple on her forehead” Olivia whispered “But guess what, she doesn’t because she’s perfect” I whispered back whilst putting cornbread dressing on my plate

“You’ve barely known her ten minutes and you’re already trying to bone her” Olivia rubbed her temples “I’m not trying to bone her, I wanna get to know her first” I blew raspberries at my sister

“You act like a baby” She rolled her eyes

By time Olivia walked away Alexis was by me and I didn’t notice so I ended up bumping into her.

“Sorry, um, Alexis right?” I smiled most likely dripping sweat

“Yeah” I chuckled “That’s so cool, do you play any sports or any activity, I play basketball” She asked “Yeah I play football, I’m QB1” I answered hoping to impress her “Ou, QB1, y’know I’ve always had a thing for football players” She gave a cheesy smile “Well just your luck we have a game tomorrow night at 10” I smiled

“Give me your number, I’ll be there” She smiled before walking inside the house “Sp-Spencer has it!” I shouted after her with a stutter as I was a nervous wreck

I walked back to the table and began eating, I’d earned started from everyone.

“Lex?” Coop’s eyes widened “Man if you break her heart we’ll have to break you” Spencer said as he shuffled a deck of cards “Don’t worry, the only thing he’s breaking is her back” Coop chuckled

“Leave him alone, at least he goes after what he wants” Patience defended me which resulted in our high five.

Chapter 8

(Jordan pov)

I was at Joe's locker talking to him.

We are the best friends since forever.

"So when are we kicking that asshole's ass?" Joe asked.

"Soon, I don't want to fight him in school" I told him as Cameron walked to us. He looked pissed.

"Thomas talked shit about Brandi" Cameron said in mad tone.

I looked at him with a mad look on my face. "What did he say about my baby sister?" I asked.

He told me and Joe what happened.

I got really pissed.

I walked away to find Thomas's bitch ass.

I saw him at his locker and walked to him. "You son of bitch" I said pushing him hard.

I snatched him up and punched him hard as China and Brandi quickly came over,

Thomas punched me back which made me take a step back so I tried to kick his ass as Brandi and China pulled me back.

"J, stop!" Brandi yelled.

China looked at Thomas and glared at him angrily.

"You lied to me!" She said.

"About what?" Thomas asked me.

"Don't act like you don't know what is she talking about" Brandi said angrily.

Thomas rolled his eyes. "No one is talking to you loser" he said.

I tried to punch him again but Brandi grabbed my hand.

China pushed him against the lockers. "Don't call my girlfriend a little loser again you son of bitch" she said angrily.

Thomas looked down at her. "You got back together with that disabled Dyke" he said angrily.

China got more pissed and kneeled him in his balls.

He groaned in the pain as he fell on the floor as Brandi shook her head and wheeled away.

China kicked him in the stomach few times before I pulled her back. "Jordan let me go!" She said.

"China, go after Brandi, she needs you right now" I said.

Her face softened at the mention of Brandi, she nodded.

She looked at Thomas with anger and hatred. "I hate you so damn much, this is not over Davis. You will wish that you were not born when I'm done with you" she said angrily.

China punched him knocking him out. She quickly walked away to find Brandi.

I looked at Thomas angrily and walked away

I will kick his ass soon.

I am very protective of my sisters, mom, friends and the McClain and Payne family.

I walked to the old music room and opened the door, I walked in and saw that Brandi is crying.

God it hurts me to see her like this.

I closed the door and locked it so someone won't come in.

Brandi looked over while wiping her tears. My face softened as I looked at her.

I walked over and sat down on the floor next to her.

"Come here baby" I said softly.

I hugged her tightly as she hugged back sobbing.

"Everything is going to be okay, I got you" I whispered as I kissed her temple.

I lost my cool when Thomas called her a disabled dyke. I wasn't going to fight these assholes in school.

I was actually going to fight Dove after school but I forgot that Brandi and I have a drama club after school.

I will kick her ass soon when I'm not busy!

I wanted to kick her ass when I saw that she slapped  my baby but least I punched her and pushed her against the lockers.

Brandi pulled away and took her seatbelt off. I know she wanted to get out of her chair.

I got up and grabbed the blanket.

Her aunt is the principal so she brought the blankets for us

She said that this is the room for us, Lauryn or Jordan to chill during the free periods or whatever, she even check on Brandi to make sure she is alright.

I put the blanket on the floor and sat down.

I sat down and picked Brandi up. I gently put her next to me. "I will not ask if you are ok because I know you are not okay" I said.

Brandi sighed and looked at me.

"I love and hate that you can read me" she said.

I put my arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer. "I hate high school" she said.

"Me too baby, 2 years until we graduate" I said.

"I fucking can't wait" she said.

I looked at her. "So I kinda kicked Thomas's ass" I said.

Her eyes widened. "What? I thought you were not going to kick his and Dove soap's ass in school" Brandi said.

"Well I lost my temper when he called you that D word" I said.

"I saw that you kneeled him in the balls" Brandi said with little cute smirk.

I chuckled as I leaned in and pecked her lips. She looked at me and bit her lip.

Her phone pinged. She pulled it out and looked at it. "Auntie Bey texted me that she saw you kicking Thomas's ass, don't worry because you are not in the trouble. She knows what happened because Godmommy told her" she said with smirk.

I sighed in relief. "Good. She is going to kick Doves crazy ass" I said.

"I know. Hey thanks for believing me when I told you what really happened" Brandi said with little smile.

"No problem.. I know you won't lie about something like that and You won't lie to me" I said with smile.

"You are the only one I've ever love" she said with smile.

I blushed and leaned in as I kissed her, she kissed back as I cupped her face. I smiled in the kiss.

Someone will not take her from me.. not Dove.. if she try to take her away from me I will kill her with my bare hands.

"I love you so much Brandi LaShaye" I said after pulling away from the kiss

"I love you too China Anne" She said with smile.

I smiled staring at her. God thank you for sending her in my life

What I always loved about Anne's Season One and Pre-Amphibia character is that her bratty nature was hidden well due to the comedy beats. So I wanted to do the same thing by having a chipper song talk about how Anne just sees her life as life, not really living up to her full potential because she doesn't expect much from it.

To continue on the underachiever aspect, I also wanted to hone in on that rebellious and self-centered nature Anne had before she started growing in Wartwood. So with this rock song, one gets a lot of 'Just live your life, take shit' mindset in the lyrics.

And of course, I wanted to camouflage this message in a song mainly with positive vibes, so the lyrics are about dancing first and foremost.

3. How Do I Go From There from Here by China Anne McClain

Here this song describes Anne's character development and growth when she finally plopped into Amphibia. Lyrics involve the question of whether the singer is right or not, if her past transgressions were justified, and just an overall confusion on where to go from here.

Gold by Britt Nicole is all about Anne's trying to be confident regarding her own identity and who she is as a person. There's a lot of encouragement to shed the shame that past influence has done to one's person, and becoming the one they always wanted to be.

5. Ready or Not by Bridgit Mendler

Ready or Not doesn't really fit with the timeline I made for the line-up, but it's an internal look into how much slang and energy this girl has in her body goddang. She's the epitome of a media-loving dork, and I love how there's a lot of fire to this song when it comes to being confident and going for the gold.

Actually, now that I think about it, this pretty much is a song about Anne revealing who she is in all her goofy but strong qualities, so I guess it does fit in the timeline in a sense.

I know that 6 out of 16 racers have voices we know that Vanellope, taffyta, candlehead, rancis, jublieena and surprisingly crumbelina have voices (Crumbelina didn’t even say a proper line in the first movie other than “Oh” what she should’ve said is “Oh no our table is broken.”) I would also like to add that these are not canon (obviously) and just a headcanon. Ight let’s list them.

1: We got *C L A P S* the boy, Gloyd (hey that rhymed) His headcanon voice should beeeeeeee Dante Basco, now I know who your wondering who he his. Well he’s the voice actor for zuko from avatar or jake long from American dragon. It reminded me of Gloyd idk why but maybe because it sounds mischievous. My intentional thought of Gloyd headcanon voice would be kokichi from danganronpa v3 but I thought it would be too much on the nose there. (The reason why is because they both cry that it.)

2: For Minty (definitely Bruh girl energy) I gotta say her voice should be Olivia Olsen the beautiful lady who voiced Marceline from adventure time and Vanessa from phineas and ferb. I think it fits her cuz my original thought of her voice would be akane from danganronpa but then I realized I was spending way too much on anime that I had to stop at one point and touch grass for once.

3: I know for sticky, Torvald, and Sakura. (I’m trying to keep this short.) would be Olivia hack for sticks because she voiced Ty lee, Michaela dietz for torvald cuz she voiced amethyst from Steven universe and darryl from the ghost and Molly McGee and tbh are my favorite characters. (besides the fact that michaela dietz did gta but it was unused and I really wanna animate Torvald cursing cuz I think it really fits her.) And for Sakura it’s Ariana grande thought you’re going to question, hear me out before Ariana Grande did became famous she was a good actor and was cat in victorious so keep that in mind.

4: Ladies and gentlemen and so on, Adorabeezle and nougetsia *insert cheer* (Also known as the UwU twins…*plays flamingo*) I would say for adora the cute and wholesome racer should definitely have Andrea libman as her headcanon voice actor who is notorious for playing the wholesome pony which is Fluttershy. And for nouget it should be stephanie sheh who is known for voicing Mikan tsumiki. (I just really think this is neat.)

5: Snowanna is a tough one cuz people say she should be voiced by Cree summer but imma say China Anne McClain cuz I think Cree summer should just rest in my opinion cuz she deserves it. Since I believe it’s fitting in my opinion ngl and since I only know China Anne McCalin is known for being Uma from descendants 2 ok… (Since my whole middle school was hyping it up for the most part and I wanted to join the crowd tbh at the time.)

6: We got the flirtatious man himself, swizzle *Plays Wusyaname by Tyler the creator for his intro and makes a dice roll* Ahhh swizz, swizz, swizz cheeseeeee? Eh his voice should be Donald glover cuz he voiced Marshall lee. I just realized this can be fitting for him cuz of there flirting skills.

7: And finally we got Blueberry girl, Citrusella cuz since she is the last one I am going to say her voice will definitely and surely and ultimately and- *Goes on for too long until I get my inhaler.* Sorry for that long ass rampage but yeah her voice should be ibuki mioda from danganronpa 2 cuz fuck it there both rebellious in my opinion. XD

WB is the worst when it comes to DC. It's no coindence that Constantine is leaving 'Legends of Tomorrow" in the wake of the upcoming HBO Max show. And this pandemic ruined a lot of plans. As you said "BL" wasn't meant to be in the Arrowverse put when it happened they were all gung-ho for it. They had plans for Jeff to visit Central City and for Anissa and Grave to chill in Gotham. But then the pandemic and whatever BTS drama that got "BL" canned. Like *something* happened. It got an early renewal in Jan then it was cancelled in Nov. And CW didn't even bother to have proper trailers for new episodes. Don't tell me somebody on the show didn't rub the network the wrong way to result in that level of pettiness

Yeah, WB isn't just the worst with DC, but really the worst with favoritism in my personal opinion

They tried so hard to make the DC streaming service a huge success but as soon as they saw it wasn't going to be they got rid of everything like it was on fire, HBO Max is the new golden child so they're cutting their own throats in other areas to make it succeed- IE: Theaters

My poor Suicide Squad 2 ;_; no I won't say "my THE Suicide Squad" it won't roll off the tongue it was a sacrificial lamb to the damn streaming service :(

I know it's an unpopular opinion to not be all over streaming but they're really clearly cutting way more than just corners in order to feed that specific beast and try to make it compete with Disney+, that's why they're starting to draw the string on the Arrowverse :/ The same thing happened, I think, with the DC streaming service though, when they saw that the biggest success of DC was the Arrowverse, they decided to pull their dying streaming service as well as the DCEU into it to pump the Arrowverse up more, now that the Arrowverse is starting to go under- with three shows being gone, Batwoman being in questionable territory, and the two biggest successes of the year being largely disjointed from it (Superman and Stargirl), I think they're going to try to scramble it like eggs :/ They're doing the same with the DCEU to a degree though, by having loosely connected stories that do more universe hopping and tone changes (IE: Joker coming out just months before Birds Of Prey and having been preceeded by Shazam!) I think since they're seeing more promise in that approach right now for the movies, they might be trying to do the same for TV- or they're just trying to let the Arrowverse die of neglect so they can pump up HBO Max like you said

Ofcourse now that WB has been bought by Discovery, we might get some big changes to this; Discovery already said they wanted to pour seven BILLION dollars into DC properties specifically in the first year alone, and I know the rumor is that they're only going to try to gloss up DC so that they can sell the assets to the highest bidders once their "probation" period ends but like.... seven billion is a hell of alot of gloss..... and if they can start pulling in more numbers like Joker, Superman & Lois, and The Suicide Squad (wich may have not been a huge hit at the box office but wich reportedly smashed the HBO Max numbers enough that WB is circling James Gunn like a starving shark), then I have a hard time believing they'd be wanting to get rid of it, especially when, let's face it, DC is easily the most well known and most marketable asset Discovery has ever had and probably ever will have purely because of Superman alone, you can't find a person anywhere who hasn't atleast heard of Superman, regardless of how much the film properties are hit-and-miss financially, I have a hard time believing anyone would just throw that kind of name power to the wolves....

But onto Black Lightning, I actually have a pretty strong theory about that one

I'm almost certain that China Anne McClain is why the show was canned

And do not get me wrong, I don't mean that in a snippy way, but China quit Black Lightning pretty urgently- to the point that she only wanted to do limited episodes for the final season

Backing up a moment here though, let me explain why I think this was the nail-in-the-coffin

Black Lightning was very quickly becoming centered around Lightning specifically

That doesn't mean to say that it wasn't still Jefferson's story and that Anissa wasn't still important, but Jennifer was getting set up to be The Powerhouse of the show, with the bulk of the drama probably surrounding her and the thought of her potentially taking on her father's mantel

It seemed like the idea of Black Lightning retiring or atleast putting on the suit a little less was starting to become a thing, and with Jefferson firmly accepting his daughters as part of the world of Metas at that point, that would have lead to Anissa and Jennifer taking much more of the spotlight than they had in the beginning- that's a natural progression of things, and although I actually prefer Anissa's storyline (it's just more my personal cup of tea), I will readily admit that Jennifer was the one who had the ability to carry an entire season's worth of story on her shoulders.... not so much Anissa, who has her wife (so romantic subplots are pretty toned down), her powers are developed and stable (nothing quite like the learning curves Jennifer was facing), she has a stable job and a stable superhero identity- two, in fact-, so no literal schoolyard drama or issues with "Am I in my father's shadow? Is this how the world sees me and do I want them to see me this way?" much like what Jennifer was starting to experience in the end of the show either

TLDR Anissa mostly had her shit together, wich is great for her, but it doesn't lend to being able to carry the most dramatic storylines like it does with Jennifer, who's still figuring out pretty much everything

I think Jennifer was already starting to take a very large amount of the story as of the last season and even starting to steal the spotlight before that, if they were to come back for more I feel like she would have been in a place of being much more obviously groomed to take on the main charector status wile Jefferson stepped back just a little bit to be more supportive to her journey instead of the other way around

And the show could still exist very much as Jefferson's story wile that story happened to center on Jennifer

.....Buuuuuuuuuuuuut that's where the problem comes in

China said before the show was cancelled that she was going to step down from playing Lightning because she wanted to focus on her faith more and be removed from anything that wasn't "in service to God", wich is totally fine for her, but it does put Black Lightning in a bit of a difficult position because the charector they were gearing up to make their breakout star was suddenly going to either have to pull a Winn and just... be.... gone.... or have to get recast

To be entirely honest, I'm not sure why they didn't stick with the recasting instead, I thought Laura Karuki did a fantastic job as Jennifer and the "Am I Jennifer or am I JJ?" story would have been a great thing to explore for an entire season, but if I had to guess, they maybe just didn't want to mess with it?

Black Lightning had good numbers but it wasn't in the top five or anything to my recollection, not since it's premiere season anyway, and it could have been a compound decision of "We weren't going to keep this up much longer anyway so let's just take this as a sign to wrap it up", although I think that the way the recast was done could have presented a stable option for them if they had decided to give it a go for a full season, although maybe that's just my opinion and they initially made the recast so that the people behind the curtain could see if Laura would work well enough as Jennifer and when they decided that the vibe wasn't right they went on ahead and pulled the plug rather than risk getting the same um... resistance.... than Batwoman met over their recasting choices

Although I could go on for days about why that situation is different (to be clear: I do like Ryan quite alot but I don't think the Batwoman situation was nearly as seamless as Black Lightning's in terms of recasts, but that's another story for another day)

TLDR I think if China had stayed aboard they would have gone on for atleast another season or two, but there are some shows where members of an ensemble cast are so essential that their leaving is too big of a blow to stay through

It's much like when Dylan O'Brien had to bow out of Teen Wolf for a little wile, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a fan who absolutely loved season six, and even before that people were having a hard time staying with a lack of Tyler Hoechlin, with some even stepping away when Crystal Reed left, even though- at both of those points- most of the core cast was still there and at no point did the titular main ever leave, I feel like Black Lightning's situation is very similar, people were just too invested in Jennifer

Dated Jo for about 5 months after the villa until she broke up with him, finding that their lifestyles were too hectic for them to continue, at least that was her public statement to the fans but they really grew apart & the “love” was no longer there

Ibrahim seemed to be more upset about it than Jo in the beginning resulting in snappy replies for awhile, which again stems from him not knowing how to express himself

She checked up on him A LOT, almost as if they never broke up but Ibrahim felt like he needed his space now. They talked it out the best they could over dinner and got closure but that didn’t mean it didn’t sting. He just didn’t think it was needed to be calling each other everyday to see how they were both holding up. If they were done, then that’s what they should be

Jo didn’t see it that way. She still cared for Ibrahim, that didn’t mean that they had to stop talking in her view. She wanted to know how he was coping, and was known for “sticking her foot in her mouth” so that was also a flaw in their relationship

She would say certain things that touched on how she was feeling but didn’t express them at the right times & then there was Ibrahim who didn’t know HOW to say the things he felt which left jo to assume things

Ibrahim was back to the single life and he hated it. He wanted someone he could come back home to, someone that wanted to be with him for the long run. A part of him feels like Jo wasn’t planning to be with him for the long run in the first place and in a way that was okay? Sometimes you don’t know where you’re going in relationships but there should be some sort of goal? Maybe? At least that’s what he thought. Yeah they had fun but he wanted more someday

He was still young he didn’t need to be hung up about it right? Sike. He didn’t know how to take things lightly. That wasn’t how he was built. And to get comments about his ex relationship and have fans dragging him about his choices in the villa A YEAR later!!! Was disheartening

Shannon seemed to be doing well. He thought they would still be friends, at least that’s what she showed before she left the villa. Before he got her dumped. They talked a couple of times since then, jo personally wasn’t a fan of that—Shannon didn’t care but it was clear there was some tension still there

Watches a lot of sports on the Telly, it doesn’t have to be just golf. Usually watching that sport sends him right to sleep while the others keep him active/vocal...yes he’s a tv yeller
