Choices Spread Kindness Celebration

Welcome to the fourth annual Choices Spread Kindness Celebration! This event begins on Social Media Kindness Day (November 9) and "ends" on World Kindness Day (November 13). But there's a bonus day to celebrate you on the 14th.

The goal of the event is simple: spread kindness in the fandom by shouting out people who make it great. Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can change someone’s day.

No one asked for anything to be added, removed, or changed so the days are similar to the past years.

Everyone deserves to feel a little special and appreciated now and then, especially on Social Media Kindness Day!

Here are some ideas to get you started:

This is a day for any other content creators: editors, moodboard makers, songwriters, playlist creators, headcanon creators, etc (anyone who does not fall under the writer or artist days that creates for the fandom, even if just for MC / OC challenges/games)

Some ideas to show them love:

Reblog your favorite content they’ve created

If they have a master list share it

Send love to their inbox

Ask them questions about their characters

Give them a shoutout here

November 13: Fandom Love Day (Secret Admirer Day)

This is sort of like secret Santa but just for kind messages. You do not need to create, buy, or gift anyone anything. This is open to anyone in the fandom (creator, reader, supporter, anyone!)

All that is required is that you write the person you’ve been assigned a kind, encouraging, supportive message for November 13th. It can be generic, but I do encourage you to take a few minutes to look over the person's blog and see if you can give them a compliment specific to them that might be more meaningful.

To participate, message me here (@choicesfandomappreciation) or @lovealexhunt and let me know you want to join by November 4th. *If there is someone you absolutely cannot be paired with please let me know that too, no judgement and it will be kept private.

On November 5th, I will randomize everyone who is interested in participating and send you one person’s name. On November 13th, send your message to this blog anonymously (@choicesfandomappreciation ).

I will tag your person so they see your message.

Writing is such a beautiful and special thing. I've loved writing for as long as I can remember. It was something that has always brought me joy so I love to see so many people sharing their writing in the fandom.

I know our fandom is small and unfortunately it's shrinking constantly. And within our little fandom, we have so many different "groups". And that makes sense. Yes we are all brought together by Pixelberry Games/Books, but they have such diverse books, characters, and games that it makes sense that we follow what is of interest to us. But that can make a small fandom seem even smaller. It can make writer's feel like their writing doesn't matter, but it does!

Your writing is so special because it's something you created. You brought a piece of yourself to your beautiful worlds. You took a chance to share your story(ies) with us. That is not something to be overlooked. I know it can feel like no one cares, but someone does. You matter and so do your stories!

So for this Writer's Love/Appreciation Day, I wanted to shout out as many writers as I could. I went through several different event masterlists from throughout the year as well as CFWC to compile a list of 95 creators who wrote one or more fics this year. I know this list isn't exhaustive but I hope that this shoutout can bring a smile to at least these individuals.

Choices Spread Kindness - Day One: Choices Fandom Shoutout Day

I've joined the Choices fandom in October 2018, after months seeing random posts, fanart and fanfic while googling some of the books I was reading at the time. I've never thought a silly app I installed to distract myself during many sleepless nights when my daughter was still a baby would bring me here and allow me to meet so many wonderful human beings!

Some people have deactivated over the years or moved on from this fandom, but still had an impact on me and I'm grateful for every single one of them. Even if I'm not so active anymore, and barely read new books in the past years, the Choices fandom will always be special since in the most wonderful and unexpected way it allowed me to find so many talented, kind, loving and interesting people, it offered me the chance to meet people who live so far away and make good friends.

So, I'd like to take the chance to thank you all who in any way supported my writing, made me smile with your posts and jokes, amazed me with your fanfics and fanart (I'll never get over the fact there are so many spectacularly talented artists in this small fandom of ours!), for all the lovely messages, for making me reflect on important matters etc. I'm grateful for every single one of you, and I apologise in advance if I forget someone.

And, of course, a special thank you to the lovely host @lovealexhunt - You're such a gem and we're so lucky to have you around! Thank you for constantly organizing these events to keep the fandom going, thinking of others and just spreading kindness. Your posts about mental health are so informative and I have said it before, but I appreciate every single kind message you sent and others, and I hope you receive all this love back.

For Day 4 of Choices Spread Kindness event by @choicesfandomappreciation, I simply must mention the fan projects. Most probably know about them already, but if you missed them, there are a couple of fan sequels/spinoffs of various Choices books!

First, the myth, the legend that is @itlivesproject, the team behind It Lives Within, which is the sequel to It Lives books. This story is obviously made with so much love and care for the original, giving the fans everything they could ever want. From the lore to original character cameos to tiny details like character customisation. It's a wonderful story in and of itself and a perfect conclusion for the series as a whole.

Then there are also these wonderful projects that are currently in development:

@thedistantshoresproject, the Distant Shores sequel;

@nightboundfanfiction, the Nightbound sequel;

@immortaldesiresproject, the Immortal Desires sequel;

and finally @bloodboundsiege, a BloodBound spinoff taking place in New York during book 2!

Making a game is no small feat, and these are all phenomenally hard-working and talented people, who are doing it just out of love for the original stories. And I think it's something worth celebrating!

I haven’t been active a lot. I’ve been dealing with the passing of my beloved dad. Which is still hard to grasp for me. It‘ll be 4 months on 11/29/24 and to know he touched so many lives of people who’ve known him in person and those who didn’t means a lot to me. But honestly? I’m glad and thankful to have been able to spend as much time with him as I could. Especially when it was time for him to go, you all came together with prayers, kind words and support, something I’ll never be able to repay or forget. So thank you for that! Thank you to everyone who has participated in any of the book clubs I've hosted this year. I have had so much fun with them all but I couldn't have done them without all of you! I'm truly grateful for the love and support this blog has received. I loved playing books together (whether new or old)! It's nice to have a little community to celebrate the things we love together! I can't wait to see what our next book club will be in the new year! I look forward to discovering it with all of you!

Choices Spread Kindness Day 1

A bit late, but I really want to use the opportunity of @choicesfandomappreciation event to say a few words to the cool people in this fandom. Real life stuff and my own awkwardness sometimes gets in the way, but I just want everyone I've interacted on here to know that you are what make this fandom such a fun and enjoyable place. There are so many of you I could never list everyone, but that doesn't mean I won't try!

To start off, heyyy drought era mutuals and non-mutuals! The fandom was so barren when I joined, it felt like there were maybe 5 people here. But these were the 5 people who made me want to stay even through the books like [redacted] so that's how cool you are @yourqueenb @zoeywades-spouse @griffinsboyfriend @masked-alien-lesbian @choices-binglebonkus @becca-davenqueer!

Next, @gaiuskamilah love your long fandom rants, greatly appreciate your gothic romance propaganda and villain apologia. You never fail to bring up something interesting about the stories and characters you talk about, and your love for the books you talk about is contagious.

@livelaughlovecassie you are a loud supporter of women’s rights and women’s wrongs and I respect that! You’re also a sweetheart and a joy to interact with. I feel like we have similar taste in tropes and character we like, you know? You get me. 

@choicesfrog you’re a ray of sunshine. I look forward to when you come back from your hiatus so I can see your playthroughs and your OCs on my dash again. 

@princepotatosack your posts are some of the funniest in this entire fandom, I swear! I love your librarian rants, and I’m a big fan of your MCs profiles, which inspired me to make mine too.
