i have a headcanon that Emma & Spike watched Gilmore Girls together and were able to find it very relatable. Hear me out on this, Emma = Rory, Spike = Lorelai, Shane McKay = Christopher, and Snake = Luke

Once again thinking about the nelson family like the angsty backstory potential there. I mean you have a 17 teenage girl who got kicked out of her home because she was pregnant (it was the 70s so religion was a big deal back then) so she raised her baby (Spike) alone.
An unmarried teenage girl was raising her baby all alone (Spike's dad wasn't around either) in the..70s yikes and then Spike got pregnant with Emma at 14 and if you watched you know that degrassi junior high that wasn't a good time (Shane's shitty family and tragic accident didn't help) like history repeated itself the trauma that must have gotten passed down
They must have struggled a lot at one point. (I mean Emma and Spike are so independent maybe they are like that because they had no choice in learning to fend for themselves)
And since this happened in the 70s and 80s the stigma they must have faced. I mean we see it in the original degrassi junior high amd stuff but like that could have been really damaging. Makes you wonder if people like Snake, Sean or Manny would think about this.

Did I just spend a bit more money than I should have to buy a vintage Lobby Card and Lobby Photo for Phantom 1943?
Yes.
Yes, I did.

1984 was a hell of a year for music. How many musicians/song references can you name in the image?
(Starscream is just a bonus. No hidden musical connections there)

Degrassi got overall so much worse at discussing poverty starting with TNG
The Degrassi classic kids were not rich. DJH and DH schools were not in rich areas. And then you turn on TNG and you get Spike and Emma living in the house they live in, and having the computer they do, and it feels like such a punch.
If that's how we're portraying the kind of money a teen mom who works as an hairstylist, daughter of a teen mom who worked as an hairstylist, then I can't take any statement they make about who is or isn't poor seriously
