something that took me too long to get around to: gonzagogl also has launch states!!!

these are all the launch states (numbers are excluded from their names)

all of them are found in GonzagoGL.exe in .rdata, in this exact order

each one can be defined in the target of your shortcut, much like in spore. i think these are just command line parameters

it just doesnt need the State: thing

-

heres the few that will take less time to get covered

-exception makes the game crash on startup. lmao. it also outputs an exception file to the game directory, where it says "Exception code: ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x00000000'

-noautopause makes the game still run while its not focused on (also if its minimized), instead of stopping automatically as it does normally, though sounds dont play. ironically its also the mode that hits the actual pause option itself sometimes, automatically, so you have to unpause if you tab in sometimes

-loadgame normally also crashes, for the same reason as -exception. its actually expecting a save file to be defined to load, and just reads address 0x00000000 if its not defined i set the path to "…\gonzagogl\GonzagoGL.exe" -loadgame creature2" and THAT worked, so the intent of this launch state is just another way to launch the save files, instead of modifying Gonzago.ini

-flocktestmode launches normally, im not sure what any of the differences are

-spacemode just does this. the only other things for space mode are the Data/Scripts/space_camera.txt file, which just has "distance = distance - direction*8" and "maxdistance = 51000"

it still launches the other windows and shows their information as usual

-noedgescroll im not sure what it does, the Edge Scroll camera option is already off by default

-fullscreen fullscreens it as youd expect, it covers up all the other windows but you can tab out to access them still

-twomonitors im not sure what it does because i only have one monitor. it seems to have just sent most of the windows offscreen, and they dont show up if i click on them. the only ones that show are the command window, the game itself, and the creature game debug panel

-nosound disables all sound as youd expect

-

-usecivtestcamera interestingly appears to break all of the terrain colors and makes them all grey (actually white). i dont see any other difference in creature game at least. the greyscale terrain doesnt affect the water still stopping you, its just dependent on the height of the terrain

weirder yet is that the terrain colors work on most of the planet, just not the spawn area and some other portion on the other end of the planet

with -civmode it appears to do the same thing with terrain colors too (left is with unmodified terrain, right is with -usecivtestcamera)

with -usecivtestcamera the camera movement is just done by dragging right click and middle click on the planet. they both can move you sideways, but middle click rotates the camera upwards and downwards, and right click moves it up and down awkwardly

these are the camera settings with -usecivtestcamera. you can disable constrain latitude to be able to move all the way upwards

it appears that the white splotches ARE the north and south pole

these are the normal camera settings, which doesnt have the camera constraints, and shows the map in the corner by default

normally it also doesnt color either of the poles white. its just something that -usecivtestcamera specifically does

the poles being colored white also affects other launch states, like -citymode and -tribemode. in both of these it also breaks the camera and makes it gravitate to some point outside of the white splotch if you zoom in or out, and it doesnt look like i can rotate it left or right (the camera in creature stage seems to work fine though)

ANYWAY!!! proper coverage on -tribemode, -citymode and -civmode will come later!!!

Rung fic, definitely. set after the MTMTE->LL transition, with Rung reflecting on his ‘failures’ as a therapist and his quiet emotional downward spiral that he’s been concealing in the background for far too long. maybe paired with lingering phantom pains not just from his own past, but from echoes of the Functionist Universe, too.

it’s weird. I don’t know why, but this makes me think Metroplex/Caminus thoughts. possibly something with Metroplex’s fragmented thoughts while he’s in various states of damage/disrepair throughout the war, and then when he’s finally in citymode again with Windblade trying to repair him and constantly reminding him of Caminus. just...something about Cybertron being one big grave, and Metroplex mourning it and the other Titans with deep Titan thoughts. also, do Titans get a spot on Censere’s planet :V

Starscream/Wheeljack or Starscream/Metalhawk (though Metalhawk would be trickier, because the ending has to be darker by default), with Starscream being his schemer self and assuming the worst all the way through, because the boy don’t trust anyone at all and takes it for granted everyone’s scheming against him the exact same way.
