Surfboards and throw pillows from the luxury fashion label set a chic scene in the living area of Chanel Iman Godchaux’s Miami area manse—doubly apropos, given the storied brand’s founder, Coco Chanel, is her namesake. Though the fashion influences in the modern abode were just as much a reflection of the model as they were her husband, NFL star Davon Godchaux. And if you ask their designer, Charm Westbank of Charmed Interiors, the athlete was the driving force behind the home’s sartorial decor moments.

I've been reading alot of books about Rockstars and everything but never really about David Bowie. I'm just wondering why do people hate Angie so much? She seems nice but people constantly tears her down. Though I think that Iman and David deserve each other and was really in love, I've always wondered why people hate Angie. I love your blog btw!

Hey there, thank you very much for your interest. It's a bit complex (not really), but I'll save you the time. Most of the hate Angie gets is because Bowie himself started hating her and refusing to talk about her and his fans do the same.

[David] never demonstrated any affection or gratitude after we parted. He fired anyone who mentioned my name. Pictures of us together were destroyed. He would never let it be acknowledged what I had done for him.

Angie was very popular with Bowie fans in the 70s and was VERY kind to them. She spent hours answering fan letters and even wrote to them from JAPAN. She even fought in Japan with the local police to defend fans. After the divorce, David's attitude changed and over the years his fans became what they are today. THAT was Angie's opinion of the fans:

Fans are smart. They bang on cars and try to get in to see you, and what could be more wonderful? I don't understand how anyone could not think about the fans. They're the ones who make it worthwhile. The music business doesn't make it worthwhile. You don't make records for record company executives, you make them for people.

There's also the fact that Angie said in her book that David was aggress*ve towards her once, a fact that a lot of people don't mention because "she must obviously be an attention-seeking b*tch and did something really bad towards David and that's why he doesn't like her," right? It's basically that most people think of her.

Fans can forgive aggress*on, Nazi gestures, underage girls and parental alienation, but God forbid if a woman talks about her experience with that same man. Of all Angie's character flaws, because nobody's perfect, NOTHING compares to this.

Oh, I almost forgot, there's also the unforgivable fact that she had issues and didn't like Corinne Schwab. Can you imagine?! Imagine not liking dear Coco! Unforgivable!!!!

Regarding Angie's issues with Corinne, here is an excerpt where Angie mentions Corinne and a video of Nina Hagen talking about when David's "management" wouldn't let her talk to the singer she was opening for.

4 -> Ask I received about this erasure that some try to make of her influence in David's life. On that, I'll let Mick Woodmansey, on his book, "Spider from Mars: My Life with Bowie", speak for me: "I quickly found out that Angie was an important catalyst when it came to Bowie making up his mind to do something. She pushed him in directions that she thought he should go and he obviously valued her opinions."

I don't really care enough about David's second marriage. I just think that not loving a woman is no excuse for not respecting her or doing the right thing. Keith Richards loved Anita Pallenberg and didn't turn his back on her even when he fell in love with Patti Hansen, but even if he never had loved Anita, it wouldn't be okay for him to throw her under the bus and try to hide the influence Anita had on him. David's attitudes towards Angie, that's what a better man would never do.

Anyway, I hope you read Angie's book one day and other materials about David and draw your own conclusions. I'm not saying people should believe her 100% only because she's a woman, but the problem is that she's not listened to by his fans and not taken seriously enough. The influence she had on him is also not fully recognized and appreciated, unlike other women like Anita Pallenberg who deservedly has recognition for her influence on Keith Richards and consequently on the Stones.

Hi Imane, thank you for answering my question in regards to your go-to bubble tea order! My favourite from Coco is their jasmine milk tea, but where I am from they are beginning to roll out a creme brulee specialty drink that looks interesting? I've seen in other countries that they make thai milk tea too, which is usually what I order at every other bubble tea chain. I like my drinks super sweet so I think our preferences differ but again thank you for answering my question, I am always open to trying new things! <3

hi again! i don't think coco has a crème brulée special here but I'll stay on the look out (and other bubble tea places have it, might try it at boba club <3). i actually really liked jasmine milk tea the first and only time i had it, it was at chagee, very delicious! i have to run a few errands after work tomorrow so I'll stop by a bubble tea place in your honour <3 i feel like a taro bubble tea with cream on top might be up your alley, the taro flavour at coco was so distinct and flavourful... wow i want a bubble tea so bad right now. if there's heytea where you are you should try the coconut mango boom

Hi Imane, I hope it's not weird to ask but I saw the background of a Coco milk tea store in one of your posts and wanted to know what is your go-to order from them? Or just your go-to bubble tea order in general <3

hi angel!! not weird at all hahaha i love that you recognised it. actually i usually go to boba club but on that day at coco i took the strawberry black tea after deliberating for a while. i also love their taro milk tea!! 30% sugar and less ice is my go-to. at boba club i rotate between the strawberry yakult, the matcha cheezo or the strawberry cheezo. at gong cha i get the taro milk tea. yesterday at boba club i had the mango strawberry sago and it was delicious! I'm craving bubble tea so bad right now it's hot as hell and i wanna try the strawberry peach cheezo from boba club. if you'd like pls let me know what's your go-to order at coco I've been meaning to try more stuff from them!
