hey so this is random but i have an ancient coin and no clue where to start figuring anything out about it?
I actually got it for free from Mercari because there was a mailing issue and the seller was generous enough to take responsibility. he refused to take my money.
I'll say firstly it does NOT look like it was stored properly (if there's such a thing? idk i don't actually collect coins honestly) and a small edge seems to have been broken off a long time ago.
I CAN tell you it looks copper. It says "Ptolemy III Lotus Blossom" on the package in pen and if you look, you can see there's a faded lotus-like design on the middle on one side, circled neatly in points or dots worked out of the metal (the fraction taken off bites into the circle just a tiny bit, though it's also rather faded on that side).
because of the glare from the packaging i'm struggling to get a good pic of it but if anyone who knows anything happens to see this and can tell me anything about how to get it properly "entombed"/displayed or whatever it would be much appreciated. i have tried to do a bit of research but sort of not had great luck, though I haven't gotten as serious as I should've with it yet.
in any case, thanks to anyone who read this, and sorry for my lack of knowledge and subsequent bad tagging.

In the last few months I've noticed a significant increase in the number of circulating quarters from 1965 and 1966. I recieve 65 or 66 quarter in my change at least once a week, sometimes more, and I haven't noticed any other spiking years besides the most recent ones; 2023, 2022, 2021, etc. It must have something to do with the fact that quarters from 1964 and earlier have silver in them and are worth more. Someone (probably a lot of someones) collected a ton of quarters from the 60s under the mistaken belief that the silver cutoff date was later than 1964, and when they learned the truth they realized their collection was worthless and started spending them all.
Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just a Florida thing?

I accidentally admired a coin too much and now my friend thinks I’m a coin collector and every time she finds a unique or rare coin she saves it for me. I can’t say anything now because I think it’s very endearing and I’m 4 years deep so this is my life now. If I’m ever famous enough to write an autobiography this is going to take up a large chunk of the it. “James KG: involuntary coin collector”

An actual meteorite piece is preserved in precious metal to commemorate a meteorite impact event. Imagine holding a bit of genuine meteorite in your hand!
Moldavite is a forest green, olive green or blue greenish vitreous silica projectile glass formed by a meteorite impact probably in southern Germany (Nördlinger Ries Crater) that occurred about 15 million years ago. It is a type of tektite.
💰 Here's your opportunity to own this meteorite coin while building & protecting your 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐭. This works even if you're on a budget like us! So, 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 only those with an entrepreneurial mindset will: 𝗵𝘁𝘁𝗽𝘀://𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘆𝘂𝗿𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺/𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗱-𝘀𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿-𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵-𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁

A close-up of the empty coin collection book! It’s super detailed even though you never see it up this close.

Happy day!
After more than twenty-five years of not knowing where it could possibly be, my mother found my childhood coin collection! She also added a bunch of Canadian coins, including a couple with pictures of George VI (I think; I haven’t read the dates yet but it’s definitely a guy). More importantly, my collection of Cannelton Coal Company scrip was there! That’s the company my mom’s father worked for.

My goal in life is now to collect a coin from every country, monetary union, etc, in the world. Bonus points for countries that no longer exist.
I have 68 (?) unique countries/monetary unions so far. Some of them don't exist anymore tho.
