Hey, friends!
Inspired by the color for the colorblind video, I realized that MY (and everyone's favorite) DAD has been red-green color blind for over 60 years and has NEVER been able to see shades of red or proper shades of green. He lives in a world of yellow, blue, and murky yellow/green. For his birthday in June, I would like to purchase a pair of glasses that were developed to allow color blind people to see the full spectrum and surprise him. The problem is, they are extremely expensive and I don't have the means to buy them at this time.
For anyone who doesn't know him, this is a man who will never ask for help. He held strong when he lost his wife (my mother) seven years ago and quit his job in order to finish raising me. More recently, he was diagnosed with stage IV follicular lymphoma two years ago. Although this type of cancer is treatable and manageable, it is not curable and he will battle with it for the rest of his life. He has faced many other struggles through out his life but Not.Even.Once. has he ever asked for help. He is a kind, caring, brave, and wonderful human being who puts all others before himself and who also deserves a break in life. Even if it may seem like a small thing compared to everything else he has going on.
Any support by spreading the love and reblogging or making a donation would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Ok here's my #colorforall story. My parents first realized I was colorblind when I was very young because I kept coloring the sea purple, fire trucks green, green apples yellow, and so on. As soon as I learned I threw away all my violet green and red crayons because what was the point of keeping them? I couldn't see them, they'd never get used.
Being colorblind isn't fun as you can imagine. Not just for the not seeing the rainbow aspect either, that part I can deal with. It's when I told people that I was colorblind they immediately began to patronize me. "What color's my shirt?? What color's that car?? You don't know?!? That's so sad!!" I eventually stopped telling people. I found ways to find out colors through conversation so I wouldn't have to tell others. Then I made the dumbest decision of my life, I went to art school.
My mother Had been a painter and taught me a lot about lighting and perspective, that plus my love of comic books gave me a natural gravitation towards an art degree. I went to the Art Institute of Boston (Now Lesley University) for design and found the problems of colorblindness manifested tenfold. "What are you even doing it art school? What's the use for a colorblind artist? Do you just paint in black and white then? That's sooooo sad!!" I nearly failed a mandatory color theory class because I was too ashamed to tell my teacher. I've almost graduated and I still dread telling my classmates about my problem.
So not seeing color isn't really the worst part of being colorblind, it's telling other people who almost seem to enjoy making a point of reminding me every single day of what I'm missing.
That's why Valspar Paint Corperation, I really hope you'll actually do something with these glasses. You've made a documentary that's very good at making normal people feel even more sorry for people like me. Now actually do something for people like me. Don't just use my disorder to get sad brownie points for your brand. Release those glasses so I can stop dreaming about what it's like to be normal.

“Nearly 300 million people experience the world without certain colors every day. ‘Color For the Colorblind’ is a short documentary about what happened when we partnered with EnChroma, maker of color blindness-correcting glasses, to help people experience colors for the first time. We believe in #ColorForAll. “

I literally don’t understand why people are freaking out at the price of the glasses for colorblind people.
Like, have you ever had to buy a pair of Rx glasses/sunglasses? They be expensive as shit in general. In comparison to that market, their prices aren’t terrible.

Valspar Color For The Colorblind “ Everything’s flattered, i don’t wanna take it off.” he said.
