This is the inside of what I refer to as the grandmother tree in my backyard. During Cyclone Debbie a few years back she lost one of her big branches. We now use them as seats around our fire pit. But looking into this yesterday I was reminded that we never know what is happening on the inside of someone. They could look like they are big, bold and beautiful yet on the inside they may be being eaten alive by termites. I live my life by this statement. That also doesn’t mean that I allow someone to treat me like the dirt under their shoe just because they are having a bad day. Understanding and compassion can be available while still having boundaries. How are you with expressing your boundaries? Travel enlightens + brings people from every walk of life together. . . Bianca and Nick met over 9 years ago on a service learning summer trip to Fiji, a developing country where they worked with school aged children, mostly of Indian descent. The image of Bianca today surrounded by the children dressed in purple and white school uniforms is still embedded in my head today and the smiles on their faces, Bianca's smile the brightest. You could just see the joy they brought to one one another. Pretty magical. It's wonderful when people connect to a cause and to others. Pictured here are a few photos from Bianca and Nick's second community service learning trip, this one in Africa. As young teens they ventured off to meet, learn and work in a village in Tanzania with children and their elders under the village tribe chief. Today, Nick and Bianca have been reunited in New York. Bianca and I are so proud of Nick... not only did he start his own charity but has raised $12,000 thus far for his charity, Vamos Al Museo - Museo De Arte De El Salvador. I know he's still taking donations.
