Thankfully, Boldy picks it up with unique metaphors involving pop culture characters like M. Bison and Megatron. I was at a Taco Bell in BHM, Al talking to a woman from Westside Detroit when I pressed play on this, and did not regret a minute of the homage I paid to some of Detroit's finest with one of Detroit's brightest. - C.V.R. Following up last year’s best rap album of the year, The Price of Tea in China, The Alchemist and Boldy James are back at it again, dropping another relentless LP of underground bangers, affectionately titled Bo Jackson!  In my opinion you won’t find better artistic chemistry between a MC and a producer than Boldy and Uncle Al, so if you were a fan of TPOTIC then surely this one is going to remain in your rotation for the foreseeable future.

Did they somehow manage to top (or even match) their previous collaborative work?  Only time will tell...

Boldy James is back after a two-year break from hip-hop with “Do It” from his forthcoming House Of Blues mixtape. James has changed his style by using trap beats instead of his previous boom-bap sound heard on The Art Of Rock Climbing as he explains, “On the new tape, I’m trying a new sound, bringing in some elements of trap music–trying to bridge the gap for people who are biased against that kind of music. House Of Blues comes out February 27th and James gave the reason for the title and release date:

“I named the project House of Blues for a couple reasons. My first show with Nas was in Chicago at The House Of Blues, so it was a monumental moment in my rap career, but it also refers to a particular period in my life in Detroit. Me & my big brother Blue, we used to sell blue pills out of a blue house on a street called Blue Hill, with a blue-nose pitbull. In so many words, everything was blue.I’m releasing the project on 2/27 because 2-2-7 is a number of significance to me, the ConCreatures, and a bunch of other groups from my area of Detroit, like Double Dee & The Game Time Mafia, Redi-Rock & The Bully Boys, the list goes on. 2-2-7 is my bread and butter and I hold it near and dear to my heart.”
