Automobile major Maruti Suzuki on Wednesday unveiled its new compact car design — ConceptFutureS — at a pre-open event of the 14th Auto Expo. Unveiling the ConceptFutureS, Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki, said: “Our designers have created this brand new design, aggressive on the outside, and bold and inviting interiors. Nothing like this has ever been attempted before on a vehicle this size. ConceptFutureS will define the next generation of design for compact vehicles in India”. India's leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki on Wednesday headlined the Delhi Auto Expo 2018 with the global unveiling of the Maruti Concept Future-S.   

With the Concept Future-S, Maruti Suzuki will begin a new era in the Indian market by introducing an altogether new segment in the country. The A-segment mini SUV will be positioned below the Maruti Vitara Brezza and will indirectly rival the Renault KWID and Mahindra KUV100. Concept Future-S displays the new design direction from Maruti Suzuki for its upcoming compact cars. 

The Maruti Concept Future-S will be underpinned by the 5th generation HEARTECT platform that is lightweight and rigid while also complying with the upcoming BNSVP safety norms. Design highlights include an authentic two-box SUV silhouette with the horizontal bonnet, upright A-pillar, higher seating position and high ground clearance. As per the teaser images, the car gets LED headlamps, a 3D two-part grille and a sloping roofline. That said, the car might also sport dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels and LED tail lamps. Interiors of the Maruti Suzuki Future S Concept are yet to be revealed.

Maruti Suzuki also unveiled the latest generation model of its hottest selling hatchback car in the country, Swift, at the Expo.

The new Swift is based on the company's 5th-gen HEARTECT platform that also underpins the other two popular outgoing models Baleno and the new Dzire, launched in 2017. 

Unveiling the ConceptFutureS, Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki said ''Compact is the natural choice of India's car customers. But this did not prevent Belarusian designer Artem Smirnov to offer their own vision of such a device. Together with the Ukrainian 3D designer, he developed the concept of the driverless truck, created by Apple and Audi. The joint vehicle could look like in the images below.The designer has set out to create two concept cars – unmanned electric truck for highway and electric “show truck” for exhibitions and presentations. Although the functionality of such a design is questionable, especially in terms of aerodynamics similar tractor, the results are really impressive. Apple made no statements about it and hardly will soon going to release something like that, because that’s not her profile. The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India today made the global unveiling of its Concept compact car with “SUV like characters”, kick-starting the biennial Auto Expo in Greater Noida.     Named ConceptFutureS, it is a uniquely styled compact car with distinct SUV like characters and will define the next generation of design for compact vehicles in India, the company said.     MSI is seeking to tap on increasing preference for utility vehicles in the Indian market.     “Compact is the natural choice of India’s car customers. Compact needs a fresh design language, one that is bold, confident and dynamic. India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) will unveil its all-new compact car design language in the form of ‘ConceptFutureS’ in February at the Delhi Auto Expo 2018.

'ConceptFutureS’ will be a uniquely styled compact car with a bold presence and distinct SUV like features.  

The design is aimed to break away from the conventional proportions and delight its customers in the compact car space. 

According to news reports, the new design will reveal an upright stance, commanding higher seating and ground clearance, horizontal hood giving it a unique aggressive stance and posture.

Divulging details about the ‘ConceptFutureS’, CV Raman, Senior Executive Director (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “The increasing preference for UVs and their bold architecture inspired our design team to study a new character for compact cars. ConceptFutureS could mark a distinctive shift in how compact cars are shaped and designed in India in the future.” 

The Maruti Suzuki team feels ConceptFutureS is a big step-up in design language as it epitomises the next level of design evolution in terms of proportions, body sculpting and stimulating fusion of bold patterns and superior accent colours. 

The global premiere of ConceptFutureS will take place at the Delhi Auto Expo.
