What's your favorite processor to use and why?

TLDR: core 2 duo..

unfortunately, i am pathologically incapable of choosing favorites 99.999% of the time [probably because im the most omnisexual polyamorous girl alive]

however, my preference lay with the pre core 2 duo era for intel, and bulldozer microarch and earlier for AMD. the specific reasoning for this is the inclusion of management engines by both AMD and Intel in all consumer grade CPUs beyond that point. (think of these not as hardware backdoors exactly, but management measures which have flaws that can and have been exploited by malware- not that any CPU is free of such exploitation..)

truth be told, and from a strictly object sexuality standpoint, i dont find myself attracted to even something as new as a core2duo. i LOVE the beige beauties typical of the 80s-90s! its OBVIOUSLY not the case that objects age or mature like humans and I DO NOT THINK ITS PROBLEMATIC to be attracted to newer computers or objects, HOWEVER! when i see a core i-series or newer cpu, my instinct is like... thats new. thats young. too young for me. now, the core 2 duo IS from 2006, making it 18 years old. but still. im just not into them? sorry!

i think the pentium 4 is the actual latest era i find myself essentially universally attracted to, being around my age at 24 years old (im 22 rn)

And this, kids, is why when you want to buy new hardware for your company, you buy standard stuff! For real though, who's the genius at QNAP that decided they were gonna make an enterprise grade NAS with a single board computer based on ARM v7? Fuck you. When the server reaches your pathetic EOSL, what happens? It stops being maintained and it has to be decommissioned. What happens then if someone wants to buy it back? Do they have to plug a security vulnerability on the network? All of that because you decided that using the cheapest components was a better idea? "But Yuka, you can hack the firmware to install Linux on it so you still have security updates" Debian isn't compiled for ARM Marvell anymore. The only version of Debian that is ready to install for this machine is Debian 10 which reached it's EOL only 2 years later! And that's not even taking into account the fact that you have to work around the system to flash the installer to the poor 16MB of unupgradable flash memory on board! "But further updates are too heavy on the system. It's just not powerful enough" Which is why it should have been made with standard components! So you can upgrade and maintain it! And then again, I'm not the one who decided that *an enterprise grade storage server* only needed 1GB of RAM! Tell me, oh great defender of garbage ideas, why do I have in my room a laptop from 2008 running ArchLinux in glorious 64bits with a desktop environment and everything if the system if just not powerful enough to get further updates? Tell me how the system is not powerful enough for updates when I used TrueNas Scale on my main storage server built on a Core2Duo from 2006! Not to even get into the default software of this thing which by itself is a crime but this isn't about that

ThinkPad X61sはCore2Duoなので、Windows11 24H2に出来ません。

公務員試験面接セミナーの面接職人松田佳久は、デスクトップパソコン1台とノートパソコン3台を持っています。全てWindows11Pro23H2なので、最新の24H2にしようとしましたが、1台だけ出来ませんでした。それはThinkPad X61sです。24H2のインストールは出来るのですが、起動させる事が出来ませんでした。ネットで調べたところ、Core2Duoは24H2の対象外との事でした。でもまぁ仕方ないです。今から18年前のVista時代、平成19年の機種ですから。

Számítógép csoda! Fateromnál összedobtam a régi VHS digitalizáló kártyámhoz egy remek gépet. Agyfaszt kapok, olyan lassu a kis socket 370 -es Celeron 800, 2x256 SD ram. Szeretnék helyette a Jézuskától a karácsonyról megmaradt állóházas (fontos, hogy állóházas legyen, mert nézd, ott a hely neki a sarokban kialakítva!!!!!) PCI porttal még rendelkező gépekből egy olyan Core2Duo szintű gépet. Voltak anno ilyenek a DELL-nek Optiplex néven...Vagy ilyesmi pl a HP DC 5850. Feketék. Az a menő ide. Amúgy 32 bites xp-t kell majd futtassak rajta. Talán win7 32 bit is jó, de a snazzi 3 digitalizálóm (2003-as) nem tuti h 7-es windowson futni fog. De 64 biten tuti nem. Nincs valakinek örökbe?
