Returning to Velen { The Witcher 3 : Next Gen } ( I have never played the "bad ending" in my own game play, although I have pondered what Geralt might have felt in the aftermath. The anguish of Ciri disappearing into the White Frost, the dreadful sense of desperation in knowing you failed after so many harsh trials and the blind vengeance and devil may care reaction in tracking down the final Crone and making her pay for it all in blood, even if that blood is yours. )

SO INDIRA otherwise known as indi, is an alchemist originally from novigrad but settled in velen bc. she got the fuck outta dodge with the witch hunts. most of her day to day is spent making potions and salves for nearby villagers, but she does dabble in the darker side of alchemy, she’s basically like. a victor frankenstein esque character trying to create life. she’s a little bit of a freak, she doesn’t talk to the villagers around her so she kind of. gets lumped in with the crones and witches in the area.

she’s settled kind of near crookback bog, and bc of that she meets ciri shortly after her encounter with the crones. she helped patch ciri up and over the time ciri was staying with her, the two got close. ultimately though ciri did have to leave, which left indi a little heartbroken. she decides she wants to be with ciri even if it’s dangerous for her, so she joins geralt on his mission to find ciri, meeting @viktorgf ‘s sybil, @auricfog ‘s lucina, and @risingsh0t ‘s satine along the way!

miss delia henrietta von frey, or just delia, is the daughter of a baronet and comes from a family that funds archaeological expeditions and excavations due to her father’s interest in history, mainly ancient civilizations. delia inherited this interest from her father and spends a lot of her time studying these civilizations when she’s not being forced to socialize by her family. she struggles with socializing, because she is a chronic yapper and is a little bit of a know it all. she also doesn’t get out much because of her family, but she is constantly trying to go on expeditions with the archaeologists.

she meets alucard when he somehow made it to london and was asking around about sekmet’s tomb. delia, again being a chronic yapper + know it all + special interest in ancient civilizations, “um actually”ed her way into the conversation which lead to her accompanying him on his trip to egypt. after that, she travels with him for 3 years until the events of castlevania: nocturne, and by then the two are pretty close. he’s taught her how to fight, taught her some spells, gives her a cloak that he’s warded to protect her. she’s able to info dump about history to him, with him occasionally adding in bits from his own life since he is 300 years old at that point. throughout season 2 they have a sort of will they won’t they thing going on, until by the end of the season he decides to make the jump and tell her how he feels. I have entirely no clue what is going to happen if there is a season 3 of this show but in my head, her and alucard continue to travel around, probably helpig rebuild Paris or following richter and annette to Saint-Domingue. unsure! either way she’s going wherever he does.

there are so many fantasy rpgs i can't play because my newest piece of hardware is a ps4, so i'm having another go at witcher 3, a game i've started playing SEVERAL times over the years (and then inevitably i've gotten bored/overwhelmed during the first missions and quit again)

well this time i've whiteknuckled through about six or seven hours and THEN

and THEN i got to the mission with the crones of crookback bog, and that was when i was finally like YES. YES this is enjoyable actually. i want to have more of these kinds of reveals

i love their designs (especially the one with a wicker face). i love how distinct their animations are. i love that they threaten to suck geralt's dick to death

Journal Entry #2 The Baron and the Witch

Bloody Baron — that’s the name they give him. The one who rules over Crow’s Perch. Phillip Strenger is his real name. A drunk, a brute, and supposedly a husband and a father.

I went there to ask about Ciri. The villagers stared, afraid — same old song. To even get to the baron, I had to crawl through a cave full of monsters. Of course.

He was wasted. Slurring. Still, he wanted something from me — his wife and daughter had vanished, and he couldn’t find them. Turns out they just ran from him.

I found Tamara, his daughter, in Oxenfurt. She’s fallen in with the witch hunters of the Eternal Fire. A damn shame. Still, she’s determined to find her mother.The place has gone to shit. Redanian soldiers at every corner, checkpoints, rules, fear. You need a pass just to cross a bridge.

Helped a widow in Lindenvale, cleared a monster nest, killed more wolves than I care to count. I hate killing wolves.

While looking for the witch Ciri argued with, I ran into Keira Metz. She's hiding out in a broken-down cottage, posing as a herbalist. Told me about an elven mage, a magic lamp, and the fact that the mage had been searching for Ciri.

We went to the ruins — the elf had left signs for her, but the Wild Hunt got there first. Fought like hell, barely made it out. No trace of Ciri.

Afterward, Keira mentioned something else: the Ladies of the Woods. I had to seek them out.

Helped a godling named Johnny get his voice back. Turns out Ciri was in Crookback Bog. Filthy place.

The Crones… hideous, vile creatures. Luckily, she escaped them.

I also learned that the woman tending the orphans in the swamp is Anna — the baron’s wife.

I passed all the information to the baron. In return, he told me Ciri had left Crow’s Perch and headed to Novigrad.

Might be time to find Triss.

I promised the baron I’d help him get Anna out of the swamp. I promised Keira I’d help her too.

Lot of promises. Too many, maybe.

Witcher 3 'Crones of Crookback Bog' - A small coven of twisted beings that rule over the swamp they reside in and the nearby town. They use human ears to hear everything that happens and human hair to weave tapestries to communicate to their followers. They gain these from the nearby village in exchange for giving them seeds to grow and making them more prosperous.

It was understandable for one not versed in her ways to be so... panicked, she supposed. To underestimate the forest and the Green within it. To underestimate her wards and how little the flies bothered her. She set her hand back to the horse's neck, tendrils of a warm, green magic pouring into him, connecting mind and soul as her eyes slid shut.

"Hello, darlin'..."

She could do two things at once. She could manage. "Y'can't get me t'move. This homestead'll last. It's cloaked by th' forest. An' if they think they can do anythin' t'me, maybe I'll just take a page outta th' Ladies' book." Oh, there was a known name. The Ladies of the Wood. Crones inhabiting the Crookback Bog. She meant employing things like fiends to protect her.

"I appreciate th' concern, miss--- what was your name, dear?"

She landed with a harsh thud onto the ground, rolling through and getting right back up, her blade was at the ready to act when needed, as she looked around for the moment. No witch hunters, no flames, no chaos and madness. As she breathed out, nothing more than a lady, with a horse, within her garden, as she stands and places her blade onto her back, and would ensure she was not meaning, to be a threat nor to scare the women and her horse away, as she meant no harm.

“That will not stop them …” Kill them, of course it will, but stop them, no - more will be sent and more will come here, as she would breath out and walk forward towards her for the moment and place her hand, onto the side of the creature and look at the woman. “He is very well trained …” To not move, nor give reaction, to her landing out from nowhere at all, and remaining close to what she assumed to be it’s master, as she dropped her hands to her knees and leaned over and breathed out.

“A cursed man?” She looked at the horse, then the lady and back again, well then, she was a witcher, new on the path, and this was the type of thing, she was meant to be an expert within, she was meant to be, but her travels are fresh, moving from worlds, time, space even, to escape what was seeking her, to be back home, to see, the flames of chaos. The witch hunters, the northern lands burning, it made her wish, she had never left before.

“Even still, I admire your confidence, but it would be unwise, for you to remain here, if you kill them, they will send more, it is only a matter of time, before they will break through here, and giving your appearance and your scent, your magical, they will not be gentle with you.”
