In my hypothetical trip to Austin I’ve been planning for next year I forgot the Southfork Ranch exists and I can go be nerdy about Dallas again. It’s an hour and half drive but that’s fine. I looked up the website and it amused me to no extent.

Do you seriously think ESPN was rotting for Seattle?
okay assuming you meant rooting. and also assuming this is in reference to this post i sent out into the lb tag last night. yes and no?? do i think espn as a corporation or whatever is inherently biased against the stars & was actively rooting for them to lose out of some kind of malice — no lmao, it's not that deep. do i think that national broadcasts are largely ambivalent to teams in non-traditional markets & so the scales tip more in the kraken's favor because they have a true underdog narrative for espn to pitch to a casual audience? yeah, a little. i do try not to bitch about the national broadcasts because it's such a tired complaint, esp re: teams like the stars who have such good local broadcast crews. but like ........... yeah the national broadcast is meant to be unbiased and there was a feeling in game 5 (which was on tnt so espn wasnt even to blame there) like they were hoping to see seattle come back (probably just for the drama! like, i get it! their jobs are better when the games are more exciting!). and also a feeling in game 6 like they didn't think the stars had a comeback in them & were thus being a little more effusive w seattle talking points than they were w dallas talking points.
i do think that if the tables were flipped – if the kraken had won game 5 & the stars had won last night – the vibes from the broadcasts would have also been flipped. because in the end neither tnt nor espn cares about the kraken or the stars & all they really want is more game sevens because game sevens bring in good ratings.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed a lawsuit accusing a Texas crane company of subjecting four Black employees to racial discrimination and harassment, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.
EEOC said TNT Crane & Rigging openly displayed nooses and white supremacy symbols, and subjected the employees to verbal abuse and racial slurs.
"The EEOC also charged the company, which has over 40 branches in the United States and Canada, with retaliating against a white employee for raising allegations of race-based discrimination at its Fort Worth branch," the Star-Telegram's report stated. "The employee reported the racial discrimination and harassment, which included a noose in the workplace, to multiple levels of management and HR, according to the EEOC press release. However, the company took no effective action, the EEOC said."
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?
In a press release, EEOC attorney Robert Canino said that one would hope "that after 60 years of statutory protections of federal anti-discrimination laws, we could have moved far beyond the grim and hate-fueled threat messages of nooses and Nazi symbols."
“The U.S. courts, however, remain an effective forum by which we can educate the public and ensure compliance through monetary and injunctive remedies," he said.
Management reduced that employee’s hours and pay following his complaints, the suit says, and the employee resigned.
A representative of the company could not immediately be reached Friday for comment on the lawsuit.
In the suit, which was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Fort Worth Division, the EEOC seeks compensatory damages and punitive damages for the four Black employees. Additionally, the EEOC seeks back pay, compensatory damages, punitive damages and reinstatement or front pay for the white employee.
The allegations violate Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination based on race and prohibits employers from retaliating against employees who report discriminatory treatment, the EEOC said.
“We would hope that after 60 years of statutory protections of federal anti-discrimination laws, we could have moved far beyond the grim and hate-fueled threat messages of nooses and Nazi symbols,” said Dallas EEOC Regional Attorney Robert Canino in the release. “The U.S. courts, however, remain an effective forum by which we can educate the public and ensure compliance through monetary and injunctive remedies.”
On Feb. 1 of this year, the EEOC sent TNT Crane & Rigging letters stating it had found reasonable cause to believe that Title VII was violated and inviting company officials to “join in informal methods of conciliation to endeavor to eliminate the unlawful employment practices and provide appropriate relief,” the lawsuit states.
On April 7, the EEOC determined it was unable to secure an acceptable conciliation agreement from the company and decided to move forward with legal action, the suit states.
TNT Crane & Rigging filed for bankruptcy in 2020, according to court documents. The company was restructured as a private company in October 2020 with a new ownership group and received a $225 million loan.
Mark Irion took over as the company’s new chief executive officer in March 2023.

Tumblr media
I combattimenti

tnt talking about the other goaltenders in attendance for this game makes me laugh ngl it's like all the other goalies and ex-goalies in the league heard about the absolute goalie abuse that dallas is enacting rn and their first thought was "we must go. we must rescue our kin. we must send him good goalie vibes from the stands". and then they did

Will Charles Barkley's Swipe at San Francisco Anger Liberals?
Tumblr media
I didn’t watch the NBA All-Star game. The Eastern Conference team beat the West 211-186, but the commentary during this game was another issue. Hall of Famer Charles Barkley was quite outspoken about the site of next year’s venue, San Francisco, where he noted the rising crime and mayhem that’s engulfed the city.
He offered former Indiana Pacer and Hall of Famer Reggie Miller a ‘would you rather’ scenario concerning Indianapolis and San Fran, which included a funny swipe directed at the Baghdad of the Bay, which is fitting since the city has become as safe as the Iraqi capital circa 2006. Barkley noted how the Bay Area has become infested with homeless crooks (via Fox KTVU):
Charles Barkley saying San Francisco is full of homeless crooks was probably the best moment of the NBA All Star Game. pic.twitter.com/xwdfz4HARr— Clay Travis (@ClayTravis) February 19, 2024
NBA legend Charles Barkley ripped into San Francisco Sunday night during a broadcast – not his first time trashing The City.   Barkley was speaking with polarizing Warriors forward Draymond Green and ex-Pacers star Reggie Miller, now an NBA analyst as well, on TNT’s alternate broadcast during the NBA All-Star game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indiana.  During the broadcast, Green said, "Hey Reggie we love you, let’s not have another All-Star [game] in Indiana. Let’s let this be the last one, my friend."  Barkley didn't take too long to blast San Francisco, where Green plays at the Chase Center.   "Hey Reggie," Barkley said. "If you had a chance of being in the cold, or being around a bunch of homeless crooks in San Francisco, which would you take?"  "You can’t even walk around down there," Barkley added.  Green defended The City. And the other hosts are also heard saying: "Oh, we love San Francisco."   Green answered definitively, "Yes, you can walk around,"   But Barkley quipped: "Yeah, with a bulletproof vest."
This ribbing isn’t the only time Barkley has gone after the city. He lamented sarcastically how it wasn’t raining in San Francisco to clean up the dirty streets during game four of the 2022 Western Conference Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors. There was a weather delay in Dallas as the roof of the American Airlines Center started to leak.
San Antonio got targeted by the NBA star years ago for having some ‘big ole’ women’ who like to eat churros:
On San Francisco, show me where Barkley is wrong. A TikTok influencer trying to check out the city’s food scene had to cut his trip early due to the unsafe areas he was visiting.

#notizie #news #breakingnews #cronaca #politica #eventi #sport #moda Read the full article
