Cherubael from last year, it never really got much attention, though I was very happy how it turned out. Maybe this pretty baby can find some appreciation of Tumblr? Also consider following my new shiny blog for more 40k art, and other cool stuff. 🤭 If you like my art, consider tipping! MY TIP JARS HERE ❤️‍🩹

Yeah you can't fool me, daemonhost.
One of the stranger operatives is the Miraculist, a natural-born conduit for the Emperor’s divine power. Their inner light manifests as a searing blaze emanating from their body, burning all who come close, and once per game they can blast an unbeliever off their feet with a massive burst of holy energy.

Totally Not A Psyker, 100% swear to me mum and the Emperor.
...
Good article, interesting rules and look into the design inspirations.

One of my Dark Heresy players started writing fanfic oneshots based off the campaign sessions but I can't help but laugh because I often make characters as one-off shitposts, and these are always the characters that the party gets attached to and end up being important to the plot. But all these characters always have goofy af names because half the time they're improvised and only ever meant to show up once.
So this player sends the chat their fanfics and I'm reading this beautifully written angst piece, and then I'm suddenly hit with a torpedo when he references one of these characters and now I'm reading about the turmoils of a former Kriegsman as he struggles to grapple with the fact that a daemonhost was created out of his best friend and trusted ally; some guy named Squipldy

Would a Plague Marine be a good boss fight in Warhammer Darktide?
Hmmmm, Well, the operatives in Darktide are capable enough of fighting entire groups of Heretics and Scabs, including monstrosities such as Beast's of Nurgle, Chaos Spawns, and even Daemonhosts.
But reminder, everything we're fighting in Darktide are only Minoris Class enemies.
All that pales in comparison to the Tyranid Swarms and Rubric Marines you fight in Space Marine 2, you could easily kill the cultists in that game by just running into them.
It is possible for guardsmen to kill a Space Marine, they aren't unkillable after all, but that would take a large amount of effort depending on what they have equipped.
If we were fighting one in Darktide, it would be a Death Guard Marine, they're slow but they're still Marines who are basically walking dirty bombs of disease, so that comes with a-lot of in game debuff's, plus if he had a bolter, then the damage he would dish out would be irrecoverable, he would take us all out pretty quick. The best boss fight would probably be hide and seek.
What would give a fighting chance is the Psyker and the especially the Ogryn, Warp power can do a-lot of damage, and the Ogryn is still very strong and his weapons can be very effective.
Though certain weapons for the Zealots and Veterans like the Thunder Hammer, Plasma Gun and especially the Krak Grenades would be handy, but it's still a little iffy. I think a Plague Marine would work best as an End Game boss exclusively for Damnation Difficulty.

Darktide has gotten me REALLY into the concept of Daemonhosts, they're such a neat concept and they look so fucking cool
Oc under the cut
Wretch, formally Wren, is a weaker Daemonhost. Strong bindings over a weaker (relatively of course) bloodthirster. She held through the binding process and remarkable amount, for better or worse.
The two of their sense of selves got really blended, a fine puree. Neither of them can really tell for sure where one begins or ends in the best of cases. Their memories, goals, beliefs and ideals and view on the world shift around between them. It's not so much that Wren is trying to keep the daemon from doing daemon stuff, rather at any given moment either of them could be pushing towards the more benevolent actions and not even be sure why.
It's all very hard on their psyches, they try to avoid arguing. It ends up being a very vibe based life. They have - had? - such different perceptions of the world that one 'side' may simply not understand what to do with a situation.
When Wretch is around things she was in her human life, she parses it in terms of that. Food is meant to be eaten, that she remembers. She remembers her love, and how to love. She remembers her crop, giving them water and nutrients. She remembers combat, tearing through body after body while her heartbeat beats like a drum in her ears She remembers worshippers, pining for even her attention in battle or tribute She remembers showering, the heat and soaps, the blood raining from a torn body like a reward, the touch of someone... someone that was important once She remembers tilling, the sweat and exhaustion and the way the soil moved She remembers Wren, she was supposed to be Wren, she was supposed to respond to that name She's been around long enough that she's starting to form her own self, not Wren or Daemon - Wretch. She has her own memories, her own perception of what she is and has to be. There will never be a Wren again, even if she could survive the Daemon leaving her body. But that Daemon? she won't stop being Wretch for a long time after she's free.

Eisenhorn: “ It’s ok to use chaos sorcery if it’s to bind a chaos daemon. It’s ok to summon that same chaos daemon if it’s to fight different forces of chaos. It’s ok to bind that daemon into the body of my new apprentice inquisitor who already idolizes me and trusts me greatly because that daemon was gonna kill me and him so like daemon unhappy and only he died so this is like anti-daemon ending to that. It’s ok to release him again to fight one of my oldest friends and members of my party and also two fellow inquisitors whom he told about me showering up with a levitating corpse covered in chains that I’m tugging along using my belt (there needs to be art of Eisenhorn using a hand to hold up his pants while clumsily tugging Cherbaul with a belt) that I kept telling people “it’s fine. It’s fine. Just ignore this” because like I’m the one that’s defeated Cherubael so I’m the better opponent of chaos why do you want to take away the daemonhost I bet it’s because you want to use the daemon and this isn’t something insane people falling to chaos say and also the other two inquisitors were genuine dicks regardless. It’s ok to just add the daemonhost to my party bc like might as well use him right I’m different than those other dudes this stuff happened to.
