My first kitbash! Mathematically a deathmark plus a technomancer can only equal one thing: our favorite betrayal gremlin Lysikor!
It's a first attempt so it is definitely clumsy in places. But I'm having fun customizing. Maybe I'll steal some scarabs for more canopteks for the base.
Also if anyone can remember the Ithakas color scheme please save me, my memory is a leaky bucket. I know it's silver and beyond that who knows.
Although a lot of fanart makes him darker, almost black. So that's also an option.
While I much prefer to make brighter minis, I’ve always wanted a go at trying todo a Turnip28 mini. While it’s still brighter than most lol, I’m really happy with it’s style and basing.
Turnip28 is a grimdark setting where root-vegetable people fight each other in muddy lands, he’s a carrot man!
Probably the fanciest model I've done this year - my Tzeentchian Daemon Prince! Still need to name her.
Big kitbash on this one. I saw a really cool conversion of the base Stormcast model in Warhammer World, and found most of it in my FLGS bits box the next day (mostly missing the wings). Stormcast wings, head + bird, spare chaos backpack, Tzeentch-y bits from Tzaangor spares, unused shield from Fateskimmer, tentacle arm from bits. Quite a bit of milliput, plastic glue and fiddling!
Colourshift paints and contrast as well as classic acrylics. Basing is fine sand, PVA, Various Small Rocks, Gamer's Grass tufts.
Do you folks want to see some miniatures?
These mind flayer-like characters are made from different Frostgrave sets and parts from a bag of Warhammer 40K spruces I got from a friend.
End-of-year photoshoot of some of my favourite miniatures I've painted this year!
I've actually painted a whole lot this year, it was tricky to pick 8! These all either represent specific projects or events, and I definitely feel myself having improved across them!
It definitely feels like I have found (and stayed true to) my sense of aesthetic this year. My minis stay ready for fashionable violence in a glittering future.
A bonus shot of the board I put together for the shoot. I recently got the Tenfold Dungeons cyberpunk set, and it's charming! Sits well with the other cardboard scenery I have, and there's a toyetic nature I enjoy.
...Man it'd be cool to build small cyberpunk structures out of Lego for games. But that'd be so expensive...
I think I’ve decided…I will progress this model some more. Gave her a good dusting and gave her a matt varnish. Next is some strategic oil/ pin wash. Let’s make this lady proud!

I love a monster mech and Millie's Stray Dog (as played by the incomparable @sylvibullet) is one of the coolest. The description of the Lacrimosa Drive activating for the first time lives rent free in my head. I tried to capture the chitinous look and I'm really happy with how the paint job turned out but there's a lot I would change if i did a version 2 (like finding a kit combo that could stand on all fours). I wanted to capture the "crying" oil leaking from the eye effect and I'm kind of mixed on how that turned out, but over all not bad for my second kit bash. I have some WIP and process photos bellow the cut. Stay tuned for the rest of the Rapid Evening coming... eventually?
The under coat of the paint job has glow powder in it but the effect wasn't as cool as I had in my head. Oh well, still pretty happy with this one.
