One of my most favorite inside jokes (kinda) in the HOTD fandom, especially in fics, is when everyone just COLLECTIVELY DOES NOT REMEMBER DAERON's EXISTENCE 😭😭😭

Like when they hear "Alicent's children" everyone would just automatically think about Aegon, Helaena, and Aemond- BUT WILL ALWAYS FORGET ABOUT DAERON AND IT IS SO HILARIOUS TO ME-

The amount of fanfics where Daeron is just:🧍 and his family is just: OH SHIT WE FORGOT ABOUT DAERON AGAIN LMAO

AND THE RUMOR ABOUT HIM BEING CUT OUT OF THE SHOW MAKES THIS EVEN FUNNIER-

I 100% believe that the show writers just forgot about him and now they cannot find a way to insert him-

i really cannot think of a sound explanation for the daeron thing. i would genuinely think that they’d forgotten him and were pulling the “we totally knew, there just wasn’t time to talk about him!!” out of their ass because they didn’t want to admit it, since it’s the only thing that makes sense. like, if they KNEW he was going to appear and be important why would they not introduce him. except that alicent has four streams of blood originating from her name in the intro and george martin confirmed they knew. so i’m like 🧍🏻‍♀️🧍🏻‍♀️

No I'm the same. I genuinely don't understand why there has not been one single mention of him. There is no way these writers don't know that acting like the final sibling/son does not exist in all of these last 5 episodes and then randomly pulling him out of thin air in the next season is not gonna go over well with casual viewers ........ right? Like.... not even 1 sentence about him... No "Daeron should have been here at Aegon's coronation, not in Oldtown." No "Hey granddad it's been a while how is Daeron doing?" / "Oh he's doing well, beating all the boys in jousts. He'll be the finest knight in the Six Kingdoms yet." Viserys says "The whole family is here" during that dinner scene ... except, y'know, that's not true. Would have been THEEE moment to mention how he wished Daeron was with them, but nooooooo. Instead we act like he does not exist outside of the intro sequence with Alicent's 4 bloodlines. Like what kind of garbage writing is this?

grrm was overworking when he came up with aliases for team black (the black queen, the dragon queen, the rogue prince, the prince of the city, the sea snake, the queen who never was, the dragon twins, the lads, the maid of the vale, the wolf of the north, etc) but didn’t put any effort when writing team green’s (daeron the daring, aemond one-eyed🧍🏽‍♀️) and that’s always gonna be the funniest thing ever to me
