hi welcome to guppy’s... my entire first intro got deleted because my computer shut down, so i’m here to cry my eyes out and try again... anyways... basically i’m guppy, i’m in mst, she/her. like this if you want to plot. sorry it was so short i didn’t feel like re-typing all of the original intro (rip me).

dallas’ parents were loaded af. like they were heads of the board of a london-based stock brokerage firm. they got some big cash rolling in and they were never humble about it.
dallas was highly sheltered as a child, his parents let him do outside things like boy scouts, summer camps for science based learning, volunteering at shelters, and more, but he never really liked any of the things his parents put him through.
he was also homeschooled, he had several tutors who educated him in everything from calculus to latin.
dallas ended up really finding a passion for music and playing instruments, it felt like the one thing his parents couldn’t touch.
he would spend hours practicing a new piece, working on his skills, and learning new aspects to instruments each day.
his absolute favorite is the double bass, and that’s what he spent most of his time working on.
once he reached the age to go to university, he chose to get a music theory-based BMus over a degree in business.
this lead to his parents getting heated because they wanted to pass down the business to him.
but they eventually decided that they were just glad to see him going to university anyways, so they paid for whatever tuition there was and didn’t ostracize him too much.
after college he had no path that he wanted to take with the degree he had earned, so he turned back to his parents’ suggestion of taking over the firm.
so, under his dad he’s begun training to become a business man.
also, his parents suggested it was time for him to find a suitable partner for the business as well, so they were the ones who urged him into trumatch.
now he’s here and he hasn’t had any luck because he has just been getting upset with the partners he’s been receiving.
some quick things are that he’s super arrogant, standoffish, cold, and usually has a hard time accepting the viewpoints of others.
he’s also very studious, meticulous, and a virtuoso.
i like to think that he’s a little soft emo who just needs to find someone who can open his world up to ideas that he’d been shut away from. i think that if he hadn’t have been so sheltered back in the day, he would have bloomed into a wonderful young man. but you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, right????
he most definitely cries in the bathroom each night while his match is asleep because he just wants to get out of this cycle. he’s been stuck in it for what seems like forever.

Comerica Bank and Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas Launch Collaborative Financial Education Programming
Comerica Bank and the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas announced today that they have launched a financial education partnership composed of three components: 1) college savings investment strategies, 2) higher award incentives, and 3) a financial education patch program.
"We are excited to embark on this innovative partnership," said Megan Burkhart, Comerica Bank Chief Human Resources Officer and Girls Scouts of Northeast Texas volunteer and former board member. "The Girl Scouts 108-year legacy of financial empowerment and entrepreneurship programming aligns well with Comerica’s commitment to equipping youth with the core financial principles to navigate the rapidly evolving economy. We leverage our Comerica Money $ense curriculum and lend our professional expertise and virtual resources to provide equitable access to financial education while establishing a path to financial capability.”
Comerica Bank Regional External Affairs Manager Vanessa T. Reed kicked off the partnership last month, virtually presenting the “Financing Higher Education - College Knowledge” Comerica Money $ense module to 20 GSNETX Summer College Experience participants.  During the workshop, the following topics were covered – potential earning power of college graduates; college funding options: 529 plans, scholarships and loans; early FASFA completion and submission with parental guidance; and college cost assessment: trade school, community college, and public and private university. She also introduced the cohort to the Comerica Bank Money $ense online portal and challenged them to compete the remaining modules. 
The Girl Scout Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards are the highest honors in Girl Scouting at each respective age-level and encourages girls to commit to taking action to solve community problems, recognizing the needs in their local environments, and taking the lead in everyday issues as confident and courageous Girl Scouts. In addition to Comerica sponsoring the 12 higher award workshops in 2020, the bank also will award 15 grants of up to $100 (Bronze Award), $250 (Silver Award), or $1,000 (Gold Award) for girls to complete these community projects. In order for troops and Gold Award Girl Scouts to apply for this funding from the council, they must complete the Comerica Money $ense online modules.
In partnership with Comerica, GSNETX also will host virtual financial education workshops prior to the 2021 Cookie Program to enhance their entrepreneurial efforts. Girls who complete the Comerica Money $ense curriculum will  be eligible to match Girl Scout cookie donations to first responders and other essential workers and to earn a Comerica Bank financial education patch.
"Entrepreneurship is one of the four pillars of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and we’re so grateful that Comerica Bank is also focused on enabling girls to own their own businesses, embrace entrepreneurship, and develop leadership skills through earning their Higher Awards,” said Ashley Crowe, Chief Program Officer, Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas.  "Seventy-one percent of girls served by GSNETX are considered low-to-moderate income and will benefit greatly from the programs, financial education, and investment by Comerica in their futures."

Will There Be Internships This Summer?

Cecelia Nancarrow had gotten all her ducks in a row for a sought-after internship this summer with manufacturing and retail giant Hormel Foods. The 21-year-old Kansas native and incoming senior at Kansas State University — where she studies sales and data analytics and is a member of the school’s National Strategic Selling Institute  — had been chosen for a temporary relocation to Dallas, where she’d be learning some real-world wheeling and dealing at one of the Austin, Minnesota-based corporation’s numerous satellite offices. But as her junior year neared conclusion and travel plans were booked, a public health emergency came crashing down, instantaneously upending the very opportunity she’d been compiling credentials for. In Nancarrow’s telling, she didn’t waste any time feigning disbelief.
“Almost immediately, I didn’t even consider the fact that my internship would not be cancelled,” she recalls matter-of-factly in a phone interview from her home in Manhattan, Kansas. “Restaurants, hotels, hospitals — those would be my customers. So as soon as all of those shut down, I was thinking, if all these places are going to be closed for the remainder of the summer, I have no idea how I would be able to do my job.“
As it turned out, Nancarrow was one of the lucky ones. Hormel, a publicly traded company with dozens of globally recognized brands under its auspices ranging from SPAM to Skippy, was able to marshal its resources and repurpose the geographically sprawling internship program as more of a centralized virtual experience. Nancarrow and her cohort will ultimately be staying in place, but Hormel has equipped them all with computers and quickly strategized ways to remotely simulate everything from orientation to networking opportunities with executives and clients.
“Many of these interns had accepted jobs in October, so as you can imagine, they were quite anxious to understand what the future looks like,” says Amy Sheehan, Hormel’s director of talent acquisition, who oversees the internship program, in a phone interview. “So we worked with our leadership team and said, ‘What does this look like? Is it feasible? Could we still give these interns a virtual experience knowing that it’s so important to our pipeline and filling our needs each year?'” 
Fortunately for Nancarrow, the answer turned out to be yes, albeit with a delayed start of June 15, “to give all the teams more time to figure out exactly how it’s gonna work,” she explains. The flip side is that for many of her friends and peers, similar programs, just like sleepaway camps and other summer extracurriculars, have been put on indefinite hiatus. And as a result, the future of student internships — historically both a rite of passage and real entree into building career prospects and contacts  — rests in an uneasy purgatory.

Pamela Nashel Leto can empathize. After more than 20 years working for New York-based music publicity house Girlie Action, where she repped diverse clientele such as My Morning Jacket and Wyclef Jean, Nashel Leto struck out on her own this spring with a new firm, Siren’s Call. Interns have always been an essential, if perhaps taken-for-granted, fixture of the music industry ecosystem, and Nashel Leto had intended to avail herself of one or two in the coming months. But right as she was set to open Siren’s Call’s Manhattan office for business, lockdown orders took hold. The artists she made a living promoting could no longer tour, appear on late-night shows or do in-store performances, and surging unemployment meant less disposable income for people to spend on music — period. Nashel Leto was forced to focus on the walls closing in and couldn’t afford to think about helping young hopefuls get a foot in the door.

“I had planned on hiring interns,” she laments in a phone interview from her home in Bayonne, NJ, which has been doubling as Siren’s Call’s HQ for the past two-plus months. “For a music PR firm, a lot of my [intern] work would be based around maintaining my social media, but if I’ve never actual met my intern in person and can’t personally supervise him or her, I’d feel uncomfortable giving them such direct access to my business accounts. It’s sad, because I’d love to just be able to virtually hire people and have trust in them enough to have them work from their house or dorm, but it’s important for me to actually know somebody in real life.”
Consequently, Nashel Leto will likely shift responsibilities normally delegated to interns over to her small staff of employees. That redistribution of tasks has become duly necessary at Champaign, Illinois-based independent record label Polyvinyl, which works hand-in-hand with Nashel Leto promoting one of its cornerstone acts, eclectic indie troupe Of Montreal. Polyvinyl has decided to halt hiring interns for the summer and likely into the fall, despite the fact that some of its full-time staff already works remotely from different parts of the country. 
“We’ve always felt one of the biggest benefits to our internships is sitting bird’s-eye view at not only a small record label, but just a small business,” explains Polyvinyl co-founder Matt Lunsford, speaking by phone from Champaign. “They’re absorbing everything that’s going on at our small company, even if they’re working on a typical intern-like task, like research. I feel like there’s not a very obvious way to replicate that without someone physically being present.”

While Lunsford has the ability to, as he puts it, “pick up the slack and spread the work out to the departments that would have the interns, or put some of that work on pause or do it later,” he also recognizes that, long-term, continuing to defer intern-recruitment is in no one’s best interests. Among him and fellow upper management, “The consensus is, if this is ongoing for more than this calendar year, then we would probably be inclined to take the time to figure out some sort of plan that would involve making the internships more virtual or maybe coming up with something completely unique so it could be envisioned as virtual from the very beginning.” (Nashel Leto, for her part, says that, “When a vaccine is out there and I work from an actual office again, I can hire some interns, but doubt that will be possible until 2021.”)

But what about an operation for which there is inherently no substitute for on-site support, like working the land on a multi-acre spread of field and forest? That’s the conundrum for Unadilla Community Farm in upstate Otsego, New York. This is the seventh year that the farm and educational center has taken applications from interns from all over the world for what its mission statement characterizes as “an immersion into a rural, off-grid sustainable way of life.”
Unadilla has been acknowledged as an essential business since lockdown orders took hold in New York in mid-March, and it is also seated in a county that has been permitted to gradually reopen for some non-essential business by Governor Andrew Cuomo. Still, with participants typically arriving from all over the country and various continents, and safety precautions like social distancing a standing prerequisite even in areas of lower infection, this year’s program — while moving forward — has had to make some concessions. 
“The difference this year is we are only accepting interns from the U.S.,” clarifies Greta Zarro, Unadilla’s co-owner and internship coordinator, speaking by phone from the farm. She adds that accepted applicants have also been asked to quarantine at home for 14 days before arriving, and “then once everyone is here, we all quarantine here and don’t have to leave the property, so we’re lucky in that sense.” (One accepted participant delayed his arrival after feeling ill prior to his departure. He tested negative, and then quarantined for two weeks before leaving.) They’ve also “worked to improve our sanitation and hygenic practices,” Zarro says, and will be making their own soap and sanitizer on the premises. 
Field trips to other farms and related networking events have been postponed, but there will be some virtual webinars and workshops in their stead. Zarro’s optimistic that even in its somewhat compromised state, the program will reap all its intended rewards. “It’s not going to be 100 percent the same,” she begins. “There’s typically an element where they get to essentially work on another farm for the afternoon and see another operation, but overall, the program is still relatively intact.”

If anything, as more traditional internship opportunities have ebbed, enthusiasm for what Unadilla offers has flowed. “What’s been interesting is we’ve actually seen an increase in applications,” Zarro remarks. “People are starting to plant gardens and trees and realize, ‘Wow, we need to be more self-sufficient,’ and that’s the primary thing we’re teaching.”
For companies like Hormel, the jury’s still out on whether its swiftly reconstituted arrangement will feel as close to, or even better than, the real thing. The one advantage across the board for both employers and interns is that this generation of students is wired for digital adaptation and distanced communication in a way none of its predecessors could fathom. That comfort level with all things virtual may help bridge the disconnect that leaves Hormel’s Sheehan in a precarious place of waiting for results and Polyvinyl’s Lunsford reluctant.
“When you think about what they’ve been thrown into with their classroom settings, they’re already used to this,” Sheehan reasons about student interns’ malleability. “It’s not so foreign to them.”
Nancarrow confirms that her age group is, by and large, apt to be less daunted by this sudden shift than perhaps even the higher-ups who recruited them. She’s even come around to see how this could be a unique crash course in the way business is going to be conducted down the road, and as a result of our current crisis, maybe much sooner than that. 
“The world is moving to be so technology-focused,” she says. “I am definitely going to need to learn how to communicate in a virtual format. Having this opportunity this summer may not be ideal or what I had originally planned, but it’s going to be extremely beneficial for myself and everyone else in my generation.”
More pressingly, Nancarrow is hopeful that this unforeseen hurdle will be duly taken into account when she and her classmates — whether their internships have been modified or canceled outright — come out the other side: “I’m fairly confident a lot of business are going to be extremely understanding that my generation, as well as the ones around me, kind of lost out on that internship opportunity and be able to look past that and see our potential anyway.”

Pamela Nashel Leto can empathize. After more than 20 years working for New York-based music publicity house Girlie Action, where she repped diverse clientele such as My Morning Jacket and Wyclef Jean, Nashel Leto struck out on her own this spring with a new firm, Siren’s Call. Interns have always been an essential, if perhaps taken-for-granted, fixture of the music industry ecosystem, and Nashel Leto had intended to avail herself of one or two in the coming months. But right as she was set to open Siren’s Call’s Manhattan office for business, lockdown orders took hold. The artists she made a living promoting could no longer tour, appear on late-night shows or do in-store performances, and surging unemployment meant less disposable income for people to spend on music — period. Nashel Leto was forced to focus on the walls closing in and couldn’t afford to think about helping young hopefuls get a foot in the door.

“I had planned on hiring interns,” she laments in a phone interview from her home in Bayonne, NJ, which has been doubling as Siren’s Call’s HQ for the past two-plus months. “For a music PR firm, a lot of my [intern] work would be based around maintaining my social media, but if I’ve never actual met my intern in person and can’t personally supervise him or her, I’d feel uncomfortable giving them such direct access to my business accounts. It’s sad, because I’d love to just be able to virtually hire people and have trust in them enough to have them work from their house or dorm, but it’s important for me to actually know somebody in real life.”
Consequently, Nashel Leto will likely shift responsibilities normally delegated to interns over to her small staff of employees. That redistribution of tasks has become duly necessary at Champaign, Illinois-based independent record label Polyvinyl, which works hand-in-hand with Nashel Leto promoting one of its cornerstone acts, eclectic indie troupe Of Montreal. Polyvinyl has decided to halt hiring interns for the summer and likely into the fall, despite the fact that some of its full-time staff already works remotely from different parts of the country. 
“We’ve always felt one of the biggest benefits to our internships is sitting bird’s-eye view at not only a small record label, but just a small business,” explains Polyvinyl co-founder Matt Lunsford, speaking by phone from Champaign. “They’re absorbing everything that’s going on at our small company, even if they’re working on a typical intern-like task, like research. I feel like there’s not a very obvious way to replicate that without someone physically being present.”

While Lunsford has the ability to, as he puts it, “pick up the slack and spread the work out to the departments that would have the interns, or put some of that work on pause or do it later,” he also recognizes that, long-term, continuing to defer intern-recruitment is in no one’s best interests. Among him and fellow upper management, “The consensus is, if this is ongoing for more than this calendar year, then we would probably be inclined to take the time to figure out some sort of plan that would involve making the internships more virtual or maybe coming up with something completely unique so it could be envisioned as virtual from the very beginning.” (Nashel Leto, for her part, says that, “When a vaccine is out there and I work from an actual office again, I can hire some interns, but doubt that will be possible until 2021.”)

But what about an operation for which there is inherently no substitute for on-site support, like working the land on a multi-acre spread of field and forest? That’s the conundrum for Unadilla Community Farm in upstate Otsego, New York. This is the seventh year that the farm and educational center has taken applications from interns from all over the world for what its mission statement characterizes as “an immersion into a rural, off-grid sustainable way of life.”
Unadilla has been acknowledged as an essential business since lockdown orders took hold in New York in mid-March, and it is also seated in a county that has been permitted to gradually reopen for some non-essential business by Governor Andrew Cuomo. Still, with participants typically arriving from all over the country and various continents, and safety precautions like social distancing a standing prerequisite even in areas of lower infection, this year’s program — while moving forward — has had to make some concessions. 
“The difference this year is we are only accepting interns from the U.S.,” clarifies Greta Zarro, Unadilla’s co-owner and internship coordinator, speaking by phone from the farm. She adds that accepted applicants have also been asked to quarantine at home for 14 days before arriving, and “then once everyone is here, we all quarantine here and don’t have to leave the property, so we’re lucky in that sense.” (One accepted participant delayed his arrival after feeling ill prior to his departure. He tested negative, and then quarantined for two weeks before leaving.) They’ve also “worked to improve our sanitation and hygenic practices,” Zarro says, and will be making their own soap and sanitizer on the premises. 
Field trips to other farms and related networking events have been postponed, but there will be some virtual webinars and workshops in their stead. Zarro’s optimistic that even in its somewhat compromised state, the program will reap all its intended rewards. “It’s not going to be 100 percent the same,” she begins. “There’s typically an element where they get to essentially work on another farm for the afternoon and see another operation, but overall, the program is still relatively intact.”

If anything, as more traditional internship opportunities have ebbed, enthusiasm for what Unadilla offers has flowed. “What’s been interesting is we’ve actually seen an increase in applications,” Zarro remarks. “People are starting to plant gardens and trees and realize, ‘Wow, we need to be more self-sufficient,’ and that’s the primary thing we’re teaching.”
For companies like Hormel, the jury’s still out on whether its swiftly reconstituted arrangement will feel as close to, or even better than, the real thing. The one advantage across the board for both employers and interns is that this generation of students is wired for digital adaptation and distanced communication in a way none of its predecessors could fathom. That comfort level with all things virtual may help bridge the disconnect that leaves Hormel’s Sheehan in a precarious place of waiting for results and Polyvinyl’s Lunsford reluctant.
“When you think about what they’ve been thrown into with their classroom settings, they’re already used to this,” Sheehan reasons about student interns’ malleability. “It’s not so foreign to them.”
Nancarrow confirms that her age group is, by and large, apt to be less daunted by this sudden shift than perhaps even the higher-ups who recruited them. She’s even come around to see how this could be a unique crash course in the way business is going to be conducted down the road, and as a result of our current crisis, maybe much sooner than that. 
“The world is moving to be so technology-focused,” she says. “I am definitely going to need to learn how to communicate in a virtual format. Having this opportunity this summer may not be ideal or what I had originally planned, but it’s going to be extremely beneficial for myself and everyone else in my generation.”
More pressingly, Nancarrow is hopeful that this unforeseen hurdle will be duly taken into account when she and her classmates — whether their internships have been modified or canceled outright — come out the other side: “I’m fairly confident a lot of business are going to be extremely understanding that my generation, as well as the ones around me, kind of lost out on that internship opportunity and be able to look past that and see our potential anyway.”

Will There Be Internships This Summer?

Cecelia Nancarrow had gotten all her ducks in a row for a sought-after internship this summer with manufacturing and retail giant Hormel Foods. The 21-year-old Kansas native and incoming senior at Kansas State University — where she studies sales and data analytics and is a member of the school’s National Strategic Selling Institute  — had been chosen for a temporary relocation to Dallas, where she’d be learning some real-world wheeling and dealing at one of the Austin, Minnesota-based corporation’s numerous satellite offices. But as her junior year neared conclusion and travel plans were booked, a public health emergency came crashing down, instantaneously upending the very opportunity she’d been compiling credentials for. In Nancarrow’s telling, she didn’t waste any time feigning disbelief.
“Almost immediately, I didn’t even consider the fact that my internship would not be cancelled,” she recalls matter-of-factly in a phone interview from her home in Manhattan, Kansas. “Restaurants, hotels, hospitals — those would be my customers. So as soon as all of those shut down, I was thinking, if all these places are going to be closed for the remainder of the summer, I have no idea how I would be able to do my job.“
As it turned out, Nancarrow was one of the lucky ones. Hormel, a publicly traded company with dozens of globally recognized brands under its auspices ranging from SPAM to Skippy, was able to marshal its resources and repurpose the geographically sprawling internship program as more of a centralized virtual experience. Nancarrow and her cohort will ultimately be staying in place, but Hormel has equipped them all with computers and quickly strategized ways to remotely simulate everything from orientation to networking opportunities with executives and clients.
“Many of these interns had accepted jobs in October, so as you can imagine, they were quite anxious to understand what the future looks like,” says Amy Sheehan, Hormel’s director of talent acquisition, who oversees the internship program, in a phone interview. “So we worked with our leadership team and said, ‘What does this look like? Is it feasible? Could we still give these interns a virtual experience knowing that it’s so important to our pipeline and filling our needs each year?‘” 
Fortunately for Nancarrow, the answer turned out to be yes, albeit with a delayed start of June 15, “to give all the teams more time to figure out exactly how it’s gonna work,” she explains. The flip side is that for many of her friends and peers, similar programs, just like sleepaway camps and other summer extracurriculars, have been put on indefinite hiatus. And as a result, the future of student internships — historically both a rite of passage and real entree into building career prospects and contacts  — rests in an uneasy purgatory.

I'm not really sure what I'm setting out to do as I write this. I know it feels like it's been a long time coming. Like my story hasn't really been worth putting down, because nothing particularly remarkable happened. But I think, reading the coming-out stories of others I've realized that it only has to be remarkable to one person.
I was raised by two young, full-time working parents in Edmonton, Alberta, as an only child. Many days I spent at day-cares of different types. At the earliest possible age, I was also sent to summer bible camps, as they were adamant I learn about their church. I took part in church youth groups and was in a choir for a time. All of this was encouraged.
Seven years after I was born, the parents decided (or accidentally?) popped out two siblings for me fairly close together, and my life as an only child was over. We moved suddenly to Texas of all places, because the money was better, and my father attended Dallas Baptist University where he learned about ways that Christianity and rational, reasoned thinking apparently overlap. He already had an engineering degree at the time, this was continued education in business so that he could rise higher.
As I got a bit older, I was expected to fill the role of babysitter and became a kind of a third parent to my younger brother and sister. They played with each other, and I laid down the law. It was also around this time I started asking a lot of annoying questions. I had access to computers and the internet early on, as the father briefly ran a business renting out computers to folks who couldn't afford to own one. This exposed me to early programming languages and likely set my course in that direction. But it also gave me a keen sense of clarity; anything I needed to know the answer to was in a reference somewhere. I could just look it up. I didn't need to guess, or ask a human; the answer was there.
Eventually I decided that I didn't believe the things I was being told in church, about a God. It happened pretty suddenly and randomly, no real lead-up. Just thought about it a bit and decided it didn't make a lick of sense. But I sat on it for quite a while before I really shared with anyone.
A couple years of pretending later, I confronted my parents as formally as a young teen can muster, in the hopes of being taken seriously, and told them point blank, "I am an atheist. I won't be going to church anymore." My dad, I remember, pointedly said nothing. I think he has always had his doubts about the whole thing and has been trying to just reconcile everything. Like if he could just put it all together it would make everyone happy.
My mom, though... couldn't process it. She decided I was going through a phase. She was also especially adamant that I not influence my younger siblings. My sister, at the time, was busy being brainwashed herself. I told her that I would not "preach" but that I refused to lie to her. If she asked me questions, I would give her truthful answers. Miraculously, this was acceptable.
And inevitably my younger sister did eventually ask me questions, but I'm not sure if she really internalized my answers. I think she left childhood with a vague sense that I didn't belong to her and mom's "group" for reasons that weren't entirely clear to her. Probably because she couldn't rectify my not being there with what she was being told at church. What reason could I possibly have to stay away if everything they were saying was true? She eventually went to school for marketing, and has landed a board position at a firm in Dallas. She is agnostic now to the best of my knowledge.
I'm honestly not sure where my brother landed. If I had to guess I'd say he's also atheist, but we don't get to talk much. He's currently deployed as an Army medic. Scheduled to come back later this year. I'm not sure how his time in the military may have affected his views, but I know that it's important to him that my dad be proud, and my dad never really pushed too hard on religion. After all he's an engineer first and foremost.
Currently my dad runs a smithy in rural Texas, and hangs out with other smiths. He also works as a lead programmer at a large company.
My mother works at the same elementary school as she did when we first moved to Texas, 20 years ago. She has a degree in Recreational Management (which, in Canada means: how to drive a Zamboni).
I work at a small startup as a front-end developer. I married a college sweetheart and we've been together for about 12 years. She is agnostic, but I call her a weak atheist.
I still visit my parents once or twice a year, and we don't talk much about religion. My dad loves to push my buttons about politics though, and we wind up talking about Trump as often as not these days. Motherfucker loves debating.
