I heard a theory that macaque disguised himself as wukong and this wukong was the one who met xianglu, I don't really believe in this theory but... imagining this happening is funny to me.
#my art#my stuff#lego monkie kid#lmk#lego monkie kid season 5#lego sun wukong#lmk xianglu#I just realized that I accidentally posted this earlier xd#You don't know how much effort I put into this. Not because the Drawing Is soo detail or anything like that.#More because my computer took like two hours to open even one program xd

idk if it’s just me but the whole “which atla kid in the gaang is the most mature” debates can get redundant and kind of exhausting at times. they’re kids. they’re multifaceted characters. they’re mature in some departments and immature in others. they have their strengths and weaknesses. also they’re kids lol.
#listen this is a probably a nothing burger lmao I’m just deep in my thoughts about what it means to be mature#because when talking about the cast what type of maturity are we focusing on yknow?#is it emotional maturity? spiritual maturity? social? maturity when taking up certain roles such as leadership?#and everyone has a different idea of what it means to be mature even in personality#take a comedic relief/goofy character for example#some may say this character is immature because of their goofy behavior#others might point out that being a jokester and taking the role of comedic relief doesn’t mean said character is immature#maybe my frustration just stems from people trying to assign parental roles to these tweens/teens lol#which I feel like can be an interesting conversation if we’re discussing#the traumas of losing a parent(s) at a young age and being forced to take up so much responsibility due to circumstances#but idk usually I see a lot of these conversations go sideways I guess#my conclusion#they’re just kids man they shouldn’t be fighting a war#they should be at the after school program#get aang to the computer lab now and make him a webkinz account#atla#text

Gilbert? As in Mr. Gilbert, last name Gilbert? As in Freddie Gilbert??? (Or Freddie's father given the timing and age?)
Don't think I didn't notice how we got an unusually attentive description for such a seemingly minor character...

I got my very first scam voicemail today and I know I'm speaking from a place of privilege (grew up with rapidly advancing technology and thus am able to adapt quicker than older generations) but I do not get how people fall for those. first of all that is a robot speaking. second of all I have never made a 588€ purchase over paypal in my life. these facts lead me to conclude that someone is trying to scam me
#i've heard my mid fifties coworkers talk about getting ai scam calls that mimic the voices of their kids which first of all is dystopian#but also. do you not have your child's number saved on your phone. strike one#i personally haven't heard an example of those but i don't believe they're really exact human like copies.#it's usually about like running some guy over so they put a crying effect on the voice to make it harder to discern but come on#surely you can tell if it's your own offspring or a computer program talking

i know that others have already commented on this but most of my high school interns are so helpless when it comes to technology that doesn't completely spoonfeed the experience that it is actually terrifying
#tbc our awareness of this means we now spend extra time on these skills but it is a shock at how many cant navigate basics on a desktop#let alone use a program like excel#ppl just assumed these kids would be 'digital natives' and be far ahead of us naturally#but the reality is they grew up on phones and tablets and apps that strongly handhold and control your experience#and computer skills - esp on desktop - are something you have to learn#and that includes learning where to go to try looking for an answer yourself first#not st#doctor's log

im glad we’re finally talking about lack of technology literacy in younger people. everyone assumes we’ll automatically be good at it and have all the know-how because we grew up with it, and sure i might be more knowledgeable about it than say, someone 15 years older, but technology is changing and becoming more “turnkey” and a lot of the customization and workarounds just are not that accessible or obvious anymore. several tech companies boast that their new products are so simple and easy that a baby could do it, and users no longer have to figure out or understand anything behind the scenes because look, there’s a button right there you can press for this issue and if you’re still having problems you can just take it to a technician.
and im not saying this is inherently bad, it’s more accessible to people who don’t know anything about technology, but we are losing our computer skills because we don’t understand the tech and don’t see a need to. you buy a phone or a laptop and it’s perfectly usable fresh out the box and you don’t have to do anything to customize it because they’ve done it for you, which sucks especially considering they often don’t even want you to mess with the programming or software. customization is discouraged so they give you a handful of options they picked out and that’s that, and if your computer goes kaput then instead of learning how to fix it you can just throw it away and buy a new one! and while turnkey tech is a good option for a lot of people, we should still be encouraging know-how and teaching tech literacy in school as we become even more dependent on it. so many young people are struggling to work on computers and no one thinks to teach them because of the generation they’re in. it’s a major issue.
#like i know so little about programming software and engineering and i’ve tried to get into it but im not a kid anymore and my brain isn’t#nearly as malleable as it used to be#and so the concepts come a lot harder to me than they would have in grade school#the furthest extent my official computer education went was making mother’s day cards in photoshop and ms paint#so#text post#technology literacy

Me before my part time substitute teaching/glorified baby gig: I really hope I get the high schoolers and not the littles
After 1 English class on Romeo and Juliet and one general AP humanities class and being assigned a summer camp assistant counselor job for three afternoons: THANK GOD IM WATCHING FOUR-SIX YEAR OLDS!!!
#I am in no position to judge academic readiness as a sub (everyone has an Easy Backup Lesson on hand in case of a sub day#I had at least two variations#one for prepared absences (Rosh H and Yom Kippur) one just in case#my perspective on Kids These Days#are nuanced but I’ll just say I am genuinely kinda alarmed at the behavioral issues#ever seen the British show Adolescence? about that bad except I have even less control as a suv#the only way to get them to even take role is to be liked#the only way to be liked is to let them get away with everything#they can’t put their trash in the trash can#I am TOTALLY fine with them eating in class all they want#bc I n ow the school asked about peanut allergies or other concerns day 1 in the year#sure eat all all you want! drink at your desk! (just be careful not to spill anything on school computers but go ahead!)#but my god they LiTTER#kids should be allowed to go to the rest room as needed (though I do get nervous when they are gone too long not bc they don’t have the#right to use the restroom but I’m paranoid about safety and I don’t want them rubbing off campus and something f#happening#but they can’t take roll call#there is a kid named Isaiah in one class and another named Isiah#and another named Iziah#they both got their own last names mixed up when one was late and I was trying to mark one present and I asked his last name repeatedly#this 16 year old kept just saying *Iziah with a z*#I told him that unfortunately his name was misspelled on the roster as Isiah and I needed his last name to mark him present#I was apologetic about it like *im sorry it’s misspelled t#but he lit didn’t know his last name and couldn’t process why I was asking he’s 16-17#they really really struggle to take attendance#I swear I’m not someone who is a hard nose esp as a sub and I grew up poor FirstG and these kids are more affluent than Title I but also#but not as rich as other schools in the same burb so no don’t come at me about inner city schools#they have a gifted program and tutoring and AP l#classes and I didn’t. also the fact I’d get the shit beaten out of me for acting like that and they probably don’t is an IMPROVEMENT in how#kids are raised so no I’m not saying things there aren’t better in many ways but the rudeness not so much to me but to each OTHER was wild

Tbh the strangest and most concerning thing about kids that I’ve observed get steadily worse is how these kids just…don’t know how to use a computer???
Like if you put a 12-15 year old kid and my 50 something year old mom next to each other and asked them to copy and paste using a computer, both would look at me like a deer in headlights!!
And yes I know some of this is because schools just don’t really have computer classes anymore (like I had ones that taught “proper” typing, Microsoft office programs like Word and PowerPoint, etc.) but like??? Every school I’ve been to so far has had computers for students so they’re all on devices all the time yet still don’t know how to use them.
Hell, they barely know how to type a URL in! Like! Huh! I’m genuinely concerned about them not knowing how to use a computer properly and how they use it so freely without proper thought and care as to what they put out into the world.
#meows#SORRY teacher rant#and before you go well then just make your work paper#1. their handwriting is on level with their reading scores (3rd grade or lower)#and 2. the main class I teach has a program that’s only online#that I’m required to make them use#and tbh for my two ela classes most of my stuff IS paper#except bell ringers that’s online#it’s just scary how their media literacy is on par w their computer skills#I even try to add visual instructions to help them#but next day boom gone#I have kids who still ask how to copy and paste their assignments#into the turn in box even tho it’s a daily assignment they do#and so theoretically they should be copying and pasting each day#and yet!

Introducing S4D13 (Sadie) and Daile (the fish) my frutiger aero babies.
Working on getting her a full ref so she can be a late comer to my art fight line up (which is going well!)
#my art#oaks art#frutiger aero#frutiger aqua#she’s mostly inspired by those aquarium lamps. I had one as a kid and want nothing more than to have one again#also Daile is a pun on dial up and he is both the fish and the computer#oh and Sadie is a computer program technically. did I mention that?

i miss these netbooks sometimes man even tho they'd suck nowadays cuz everything (websites, files, etc.) now is too big, bloated and heavy
#ok nini#these came with 2 gb of space and windows 7. and a few custom stuff like a camera program thats friendly for kids#and a few games with a penguin...something like that#oh! and pivot animator. some came with that. but mine didnt :(#i would emulate from nes games to gba ones on these bad boys..#i think...my memory is a bit blurry so....i cant recall correctly#i was careless with technology as a kid so these computers fell straight to the floor from time to time#BUT STILL WORKED JUST FINE !!!!!!!#also broke the power button once oopss haha#but still did fine so lol#that netbook also did survive my 7 year old self downloading around 200 images of mlp (plus another 90 images sitting in the recycle bin)

(MITP-Verlag)
