Impacts of the New Inventory of Environmental Liabilities in the Mining-Metallurgical Region of Santa Lucia, Cuba
Abstract
In the mining-metallurgical region of Santa Lucia, the previous studies on the analysis of the impacts of the extractive activity and the associated technological processes have not made an approach to the accumulated environmental liabilities through the use of management instruments. New theoretical references are proposed in the classification of inventories of Environmental Liabilities (EL) associated with the mining-metallurgical activity and its support activities. The Geographic Information System (GIS) is used as a tool from a spatial data infrastructure platform (IDE) with support in ArcGIS from a Database Management System (DBMS). In the research, theoretical methods were used, such as historical-logical analysis, the systemic approach and analysis and synthesis. As empirical methods, documentary analysis was used and the most up-to-date conceptual and legal references on the subject are exposed, with emphasis on the Latin American and Caribbean region. For the survey of the EL, the method of geological itineraries is used in three sectors of the study region. An inventory of 62 Environmental Liabilities (EL) is reported, broken down into 16 mining, 31 chemical, seven sanitary, five technological, and three agroforestry liabilities. Through a GIS developed for the environmental liabilities of the study region, it allows effective management in pursuit of the mitigation of the negative impacts generated to exposed ecosystems, based on the analysis of geology, hydrogeology, tectonics and the model of digital elevation of the terrain.

There are 3 main components to a DBMS. First, there’s the data itself that needs to be articulated the end user. Next, there’s the search engine that allows the data to be accessed. Lastly, the database schema is necessary to provide logic to the data structure. Altogether, the DBMS is incredibly useful for providing a central view of data. It allows multiple users from multiple locations to access this data as well. One of the largest advantages of using a DBMS is that data maintains its integrity while giving access to end users and application users alike.

Here is the structure of a DBMS. It is clear that the database is the original source for all data that feeds into the DBMS, and from there there are many avenues the data can be viewed in.
MS Access is one method of DBMS application. MS Access is a database management system. It combines the Microsoft database engine with a graphical user interface as well as software development tools. As a personal user of Microsoft Access, I will give my key review of it.
Personal Software Review:
MS Access is a crucial software if you are a small business owner. It allows you to collect, store, and manage information with such ease. I run a small vacation travel company and I used MS Access to organize vacation package orders from my customers. The database produces beautiful reports that clearly state my prices, sales, and total revenues. However, the ease of access is one problem I have with the system. It can be difficult to arrive at your finished report. The system relies on the use of “Wizards” to build tables and reports, and my MS Access was not automatically using these wizards. I had to research the software to understand how to turn automatic wizards on which boosted my success with the software. Overall, I would recommend this software to anyone managing sales, especially startups.
