Yesterday, August 23, David Yanovich Cherkassky had a birthday; he turned 93 years old! In honor of this, I dedicated an art to him, in which I expressed gratitude for the gift of childhood and the best cartoons in my life. We will forever remember you, David Cherkassky!

In 2020, there was a documentary hosted by Viktor Andrienko called The Star of David Cherkassky which went over his career and all his projects, I haven’t found any English subtitles for it, so I don’t know what they were talking about, yet I was intrigued by one section where they showed what I assume were some Radna Sakhaltuev storyboards from Treasure Island 1988 for a scene that wasn’t animated:

So it looks like Silver finds either Flint’s actual treasure or some other treasure, he goes to Las Vegas, brings back women, money, and wine, then the pirates and heroes get along with each other?
If anyone who’s seen this documentary knows that these were for, whether it be a deleted scene, an alternate ending, a commercial, or for some sequel project, let me know. You can watch the documentary here (the part showing these storyboards starts about 1 hour and 3 minutes in): https://youtu.be/jNSEMXVkMJs

One of these days I gotta get somebody to translate the full thing cause I’m sure there’s all sorts of trivia in there. Oh, they also show some more footage from the unfinished movie “Crazy Macaroni”, so that’s cool.

Decided to try drawing Vulture from Shining Nikki in the style of the late David Cherkassky, who gave us iconic cartoons such as Treasure Island/Ostrov Sokrovishch, The Adventures of Captain Wrongel, and Dr. Aibolit.

Need help with lyrics
In the Soviet cartoon "Вокруг света поневоле" a song appears, sung in English and... Italian? Considering that in the USSR it was difficult to learn any language (and speak it correctly) and that I do not speak English/Italian well enough, I need help in getting someone to tell you what is being sung there…
Cartoon is here
First song (in English): 8:35
There I could understand some words, but not all lyrics.
Second song (in Italian): 14:08
I didn't understand anything in this song… But I hope that it has at least some meaning.
I hope that at least someone will respond to my post.

Did you know that David Cherkassky himself planned to make a sequel to “The Adventures of Captain Wrongel” in 2014-15?
But something didn’t work out and now we only have this:

Archibald Dandy doesn't look like himself at all :(

Apparently, Archibald is about to have a daughter!

David Cherkassky rarely portrayed women in his movies, I had to sweat so that nothing would get out of the style much, well now Jim's beloved and caring mom and dad

Everyone started to draw Cap Starr and Zero for some reason, let me introduce you to some other cool Cap. (I'm sure no one from followers will care about him, since he's not TUGS related, but still wanted to show him) My fav grandpa-mentor like captain Captain Vrungel. His series (Приключения Капитана Врунгеля\Adventures of Captain Vrungel) is underrated and deserves more love in general. There's not really much fanarts of him, it's truly sad.
Tbh Остров Сокровищ\Treasure Island is also great and deserves love, but a little bit overrated in my opinion (I love both cartoons tho, maybe I like Vrungel more because watched it before Treasure Island) Actually a lot of things from Vrungel were used\inspired for Treasure Island. People needs to pay attention on David Cherkassky's other works, not only Treasure Island (they're also full of meme and iconic moments)
David is great animator, and people in kievnauchfilm too, I recommend to you watch his works if you haven't seen.
I plan to make something with Vrungel...

🇺🇸: Hi!
I know that you also compose stories - yourself or by request, it doesn’t matter (a person like you needs to participate in the ficbook, yes 😏)
Can you come up with a story with fluff elements with my three chamomiles from David Cherkassky’s cartoons? (a hint to Jim, Fuchs and Barmaley, as you probably already guessed ;) )
I will be very grateful and thank you in advance ❤️
If you refuse, I will survive ☺️
Sorry, honey, but I'm not doing fan fiction anymore.
Прости милая, но я больше не занимаюсь фанфик
I'm sorry, you won't be mad at me?
Прости, ты не злишья на меня?

Whenever I see footage from "The Adventures of Captain Wrongel," I remember probably not my best experience. I had a CD that included almost all of David Cherkassky's most iconic works, and I loved to watch it every day as a kid, but when it came to "The Adventures of Captain Wrongel," I didn't feel good about it. Or rather, I just couldn't fully absorb the narrative of the whole story. I liked all the musical scenes from it, some of them I watched on replay, unlike the narration. In a way, this multi-part cartoon was a bit heavy for me, so I watched it "through my fingers", if you can say so. Maybe it's because of the second episode, where they showed how the forest was on fire and Wrongel and Lom were rescuing squirrels. This scene was strongly imprinted in my mind, it seemed threatening and very unpleasant, which gave me the impression that there would be more scenes like that in the cartoon, and because of that my interest in the cartoon dropped.
Well, now I'm 20 and my brain has grown, my opinion has changed, as well as my worldview, and maybe I should review "The Adventures of Captain Wrongel", maybe now I will understand much more than when I was 8-10 years old

Crazy Macaroni or The Error of Professor Bugensburg AKA “Macaroni Madness” is an animated/live-action hybrid film directed by David Cherkassky (Adventures of Captain Vrungel, Treasure Island 1988) from 1992 that was never finished due to a lack of funding.
It’s described as “a surreal fairy tale for adults”, and from what little video there is of it, it certainly looks a lot more sexually risqué than Cherkassky’s previous works and could have turned up the cartoon violence to eleven. Currently only four minutes of footage exists in the form of what appears to be a trailer or pitch that’s dubbed in English for some reason that was uploaded to Youtube by the film’s makeup artist, named Alla Churya.

The film is said to have been produced by a company called “Slavuta Productions Ltd.” rather than Kievnauchfilm, but I can’t find anything else about it.
Otherwise, the most information I can find on this movie comes from the website of the actor/director Viktor Andrienko (the VA of Captain Smollett from Treasure Island) which has a cast and crew list and some set photos which you can see here.

Many of the actors comprise of the voice talents who had been staples in Cherkassky’s previous works, such as the aforementioned Victor Andrienko, plus Georgiy Kishko, Seymon Farada, Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, and others.
None of the sources I could find gave an indication about the plot, which - judging by the trailer - looks all over the place. You’ve got stuff from sci-fi, Westerns, cartoon animal storybook-looking stuff, Victorian era, and of course, pirates, because for some reason pirates kept showing up in Cherkassky’s work.
Going by the cast list on Andrienko’s website, there’s a mix of historical and literary characters. Andrienko plays Inspector Lestrade from Sherlock Holmes, and other characters include Bluebeard, the Marquis de Sade, and most surprisingly of all, John Silver and Black Dog from Treasure Island, though in what appears to be some cruel joke, John Silver would not have been voiced by Dzhigarkhanyan, but rather by Seymon Farada (Banditto from Captain Vrungel), while Dzhigarkhanyan would have played a different character, and Black Dog would have been voiced by Georgiy Kishko, who voiced Blind Pew in Treasure Island, so I don’t know why Pew wouldn’t have been in the movie instead… I don’t know if John Silver and Black Dog would have literally been their cartoon counterparts or if they would have been different adaptations who coincidentally were in the movie.
I’m gonna guess there would have been some time travel or inter dimensional travel linking the cartoon world with the live-action world, and the live-action world across multiple time periods.
It’s hard to judge how a movie would have been from just four minutes of footage. The animated footage integrated into live-action certainly looks more advanced than what was in Treasure Island, while the live-action stuff is like the Captain Flint sections of Treasure Island on a sugar rush. It was probably gonna be absolutely bonkers.

I LOVE the fact that in each of these 3 cartoons there's always one smiley character that laughs every second of his life
SO!!! A little crossover of 3 of my favourite childhood cartoons by David Cherkassky - "Treasure Island", "Adventures of Captain Wrongel" and "Dr. Ouch-It-Hurts" ^^
