WoLF PSORT is an extension of the PSORT II program for protein subcellular localization prediction, which is based on the PSORT principle. WoLF PSORT converts a protein's amino acid sequences into numerical localization features; based on sorting signals, amino acid composition and functional motifs. After conversion, a simple k-nearest neighbor classifier is used for prediction. To predict the subcellular localization of your target protein, simply paste your protein's amino acid sequence (single letter code) in the WoLF PSORT window below and click submit.

Prediction of eukaryotic protein subcellular localization using deep learning. DeepLoc 2.0 predicts the subcellular localization(s) of eukaryotic proteins. DeepLoc 2.0 is a multi-label predictor, which means that is able to predict one or more localizations for any given protein. It can differentiate between 10 different localizations: Nucleus, Cytoplasm, Extracellular, Mitochondrion, Cell membrane, Endoplasmic reticulum, Chloroplast, Golgi apparatus, Lysosome/Vacuole and Peroxisome. Additionally, DeepLoc 2.0 can predict the presence of the sorting signal(s) that had an influence on the prediction of the subcellular localization(s).

MembraneFold combines two types of protein sequence prediction tools: protein structure (AlphaFold  [1] and OmegaFold [2] and transmembrane protein topology (DeepTMHMM [3]. The Mol* toolkit [4] is used for visualisation.

The purpose of MembraneFold is to present membrane positioning and structure predictions of a given protein chain simultaneously. The tool allows to obtain a fast overview of this information and quickly toggle between the topology annotation and the structure confidence scores.

this is really neat, and i think its great to see more tools predicting what happens to certain structures. i did consider looking for localization signals in the proteins i am making for this blog, but ultimately decided against it to keep things easier for me. furthermore, i honestly don't entirely trust most of these to even make it through the translation step, and i shudder to think what a mess any sort of co-localization would make on top of the existing horror of my abominations. to be honest i'm also just not sure how to use these and don't really want to download any more software, at least not until i have more free time. however, its still really fun to mess around with tools like this, and i highly encourage anyone interested to look into it!

this one doesn't look great, with lots of loops that do not seem to stick together and are just floating loosely and horribly around the outside of the protein. while none of this is predicted with much confidence, the middle does look slightly better. it is made up of several alpha helices arranged in a way that almost resembles a protein channel if i don't think too hard about it and am blindingly optimistic.

GroupM to Acquire Majority Stake in The Glitch in India

WPP, a communications services group, announced that its wholly-owned global media investment group, GroupM, has agreed to acquire a majority stake in The Glitch, a digitally-led creative agency.

The agency was founded in 2009 and employs around 200 people in Mumbai and Delhi. The Glitch’s full-service capabilities include digital, video and content strategy, interactive design technology, ecommerce, branding and media planning.

Clients include Unilever, Netflix, OYO Rooms, Shutterstock, Tinder and others in the entertainment, beauty and FMCG sectors.

The agency’s revenues for the year ending 31 March 2017 were around INR 214 million/£2.4 million with gross assets of around INR 175 million/£1.97 million as at the same date.

The acquisition will continue GroupM’s growth strategy in one of the world’s most dynamic economies, and offer clients access to a wide portfolio of leading-edge digital marketing services and holistic content solutions.

The investment will also continue WPP’s strategy of focusing on three key areas that differentiate the Group’s offering to clients: technology, data and content.

WPP’s digital assets include companies such as Acceleration (marketing technology consultancy), Cognifide (content management technology), Conexance (data cooperative), Deeplocal (innovation studio founded as a spin-off from Carnegie Mellon University), Marketplace Ignition (Amazon-focused e-commerce), Medialets (mobile ROI measurement), Salmon (e-commerce), The Cocktail (digital consultancy) and Hogarth (digital production technology).

It also has investments in a number of innovative technology services companies such as Globant and Mutual Mobile, as well as ad technology companies such as AppNexus, Celtra (creative management platform), comScore (data investment management), mySupermarket, Percolate, ScrollMotion and Within Unlimited (VR/AR).

The Group has invested in digital content companies like All Def Digital, Fullscreen, Gimlet, Indigenous Media, Imagina (a content rights and media company based in Spain), MRC, Mic, Mitú, Refinery29, Uproxx Media Group and VICE.

Collectively, WPP companies in India generate revenues of over US $600 million/£433 million and employ over 19,000 people.

This month marks 4 years at @deeplocal . I cannot begin to describe my experience at this company. It has been a roller coaster of emotions filled with life changing projects. When I first started I was fresh out of college thinking I could do anything, but damn working at Deeplocal was a wake up call. Nothing could have prepared me for the craziness of working on extremely tight deadlines ranging from 1 month to 2 weeks. Nothing could have prepared me for jumping into one of the biggest projects I had ever dreamed of working on in my first few months. Remember @chadarthur working on a video for Netflix that we shot stop motion for that ended up being on just about every news outlet and news broadcast? I still can’t believe it! Then it was a plunge into projects for Old Navy, Too Faced, Google, and more. These four years have been amazing.
