Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York as the House Minority Leader
Rep. Katherine Clark of Massachusetts as the Democratic whip
Rep. Pete Aguilar of California as caucus chairman
And none of them are 70 or 80 years old!
Bunch of greenhorns and whipper snappers!

I think labor is one area (of many) where if you're involved in the politics, the "there's no difference between the political parties so don't bother voting!" line just absolutely falls apart. Like . . . Democrats aren't super invested in labor, but Republicans are actively trying to dismantle unions at a federal level. Most of the mechanics I know lean heavily conservative, but almost every single labor leader I've met has been staunchly, if reluctantly, Democrat. My local trades newsletter is constantly begging people to vote Democrat. My local union is constantly telling its members that it's not that the union is partisan in who it supports; we just keep happening to support Democrats because they at least nominally support labor whereas Republicans are openly trying to fuck us over on every conceivable level.
I went to a tradewomen convention the other day and like half the speaking time was devoted to reiterating the importance of voting. Every speaker was like "please, it has been SO MUCH fucking easier and we have made SO MANY strides since 2020 and it is almost entirely thanks to the Biden administration. Please, please, please do not fuck this up for labor and organizing in 2024."
And it's not because they're neoliberal shills who don't want progress - it's because they've BEEN out there doing the work and they know first-hand what the difference is between a Republican and a Democratic administration. So if you claim to support unions - well, this is what union leaders are asking you to do.

Don't forget the reason the U.S. is supporting Israel's genocide of Palestine - hell, 90% of the reason they ever get involved into something in the Middle East is for ulterior purposes regarding oil.

Zelenskyy went on a book fair date (in Kyiv) with his wife two days ago while being surrounded by Ukrainians and shaking hands, talking to the people, taking photos, and buying books.
Putin is sitting alone in a bunker right now because he can't flee and tries not to be Nicholas II because the weaponized Nazi armee of his personal chef wants to overthrow him.

It's ironic that the administration of the oldest president could be marked by the emergence of a fresh crop of politically savvy young politicians.
David Hogg, one of the organizers of March For Our Lives, is co-founder of a group dedicated to supporting young liberals who run for office.
Leaders We Deserve describes itself as an "EMILY’s List for young people" and that's a useful way to look at it.
The PAC was founded just over five months ago and it's off to a good start.
A Democratic group that aims to recruit and support young candidates for state legislative office announced it raised more than $3 million in the latest quarter of fundraising.   Leaders We Deserve — a group founded by activist David Hogg along with Kevin Lata, Rep. Maxwell Frost’s (D-Fla.) former campaign manager — announced Wednesday its fundraising haul between October and December. More than 100,000 donations were made, with the average contribution being $25, according to figures first shared with The Hill. The group received donations from every state.
Their original goal was to raise $1 million but they took in triple that. And they are using those funds to help younger candidates in races where they can make the biggest difference.
In an interview with The Hill, Hogg said that the goal last quarter was to raise at least $1 million. Hogg, a survivor of the Parkland high school shooting in 2018 who also co-founded March for Our Lives, said the group would be announcing its next slate of endorsed candidates “very soon” and was in the “final stages” of choosing the next picks.   “Part of what we’re doing is really narrowing in on the states where young people can have the biggest impact and not just in voting for these candidates, of course, but voting in statewide races where they may be more inspired to turn out and vote in the first place, especially in a place like Montana, for example, where we could potentially help to break the supermajority,” Hogg told The Hill. Hogg also noted the importance of keeping young voters engaged, as they’ve proven to make or break key races. “The number one reason why young people have turned out to vote so much over the past three election cycles is because of Donald Trump in terms of voting against him, but Donald Trump is not going to be there forever,” said the Leaders We Deserve co-founder.   “And from the work that young people [have] done in the movements over the past several election cycles like March for Our Lives, the environmental movement, the movement for racial justice and others, we know that young people are one of our best ways of stopping Democratic backsliding, ’cause they turn out and vote in such a high rate,” Hogg said. “But we can’t just keep voting against things. We have to vote for something, and we also need to see ourselves represented in office to know that our votes are actually mattering and having an impact and to give us what I perceive to be the greatest way to help our democracy, which is hope.”
People who vote are taken more seriously than people who don't vote. And one thing which encourages voting is having candidates who reflect the electorate.
Briefly mentioned in the article is that Leaders We Deserve places a high priority on state legislative races. Many disturbing anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ laws get passed in red states because MAGA Republicans have supermajorities in legislatures.
If you're interested, visit their site. If you do contact them, encourage them to become active on Tumblr.

And because state legislative races deserve more attention, look up who represents you in your state capital. If it's MAGA Republicans, get active in the campaign of their Democratic opponents.
Find Your Legislators Look your legislators up by address or use your current location.
Thinking of running for state legislature yourself? The age and residency requirements are mostly lower than for Congress. See what the requirements are in your state.
Eligibility Requirements to Run for the State Legislature
Presidents Franklin Roosevelt, Jimmy Carter, and Barack Obama (among others) all served in their state legislatures at one time.
Perhaps you are one of the leaders your state deserves. 🙂

something that i think is really interesting about billy's view of flint in s3 is that he thinks flint's death (if it's in a self-sacrificial way) will not absolve him of his sins in life but that it will make up for the hurt he's caused. or at least that billy wants it to. he pushes flint to take the maroon queen hostage so that flint will die, but flint will die for the crew. billy says in s3e6 "with all the shit that he's done, the things he's gotten away with, [flint dying to free them from the maroons] would have been fair. that would have been right" and that he wants to see "the moment the world finally catches up to [flint]" if/when he dies dueling teach. billy has a very simple idea of justice - he wants flint to die for the death and destruction he has caused, no matter how. that will make the world right, that the narrative will be balanced again.
but what billy doesn't know, and what makes me INSANE about this show is that the full quote from billy is is "I think part of the reason I've been able to stand by his [flint's] side is that I wanted to make sure I've got a good view of the moment the world finally catches up to him... and this story starts to make sense again." but to flint, what he has done is in service of his own justice. justice for the deaths of thomas and miranda and james mcgraw, for the theft of his home in london and again his home in nassau. but to billy, HIS narrative identifies flint as the villain. as the monster. for billy to get justice, flint must die. but it's SUCH a good line, because it also prompts the viewer to think - in OUR narrative, which follows flint and silver mostly, flint must succeed. we want him to beat teach and take the fleet back and overthrow the british empire. flint is shown to be a murderer but he is also shown to be deeply deeply human and we are set up to sympathize him. but it makes you consider what other voices we aren't hearing. who else has been hurt by flint's actions? what narratives have flint as the villain ? none of the characters in black sails are the heroes in every story - but to who are they the villains?

do any of you guys feel, like, utterly insane about this? like, so many people across America are calling for America to stop supporting a literal genocide. like, at the bare minimum, stop sending weapons and aid to the country committing the genocide (never mind embargos and blockades and trade restrictions and outright condemnation). and then across the political spectrum our leaders are like "no actually we won't; we'll continue aiding and abetting war crimes and upholding colonial empires/apartheid nations and bombing countries who disagree with us." and America is heralded as part of the 'free world' that can 'commit no war crimes' when homeless people are starving and indigenous people don't get their land back and police brutality against black folks is at an all time high (under a DEMOCRAT PRESIDENT MIND YOU) and you have to pay ungodly amounts of money so that you don't die and muslim/arab folks are being hatecrimed and killed and the incarceration rate keeps going up, up, up. truly this is a nation for only two groups of people: white conservatives and white liberals. billions of dollars that could change our infrastructure for the better is going to bomb innocent civilians under an empire of apartheid. am i going fucking crazy??? is this really, truly happening???

Arizona Rep. Ruben Gallego (D) is gearing up to challenge Independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema for the state's senate seat, but the Democratic Party is refusing to take a side – saying their "primary goal still is ensuring a Republican does not win," The Daily Beast reported.
As Gallego locks up support and fundraising from individual Democrats, some in the party "see no point to getting on Sinema’s bad side while she remains a key vote in the Senate," writes the Beast's Sam Brodey.
“This kind of fear that Democrats have of p--sing Sinema off, it’s making it harder for us to actually talk to voters in general,” Arizona political operative and Replace Sinema PAC adviser Luis Avila said. “They want to know where we stand on Sinema… what Democrats are doing is making it harder for us to make the case for them.”
Voters who want to see Sinema ousted are hesitant to throw their full weight behind an effort to defeat her. One big-name Democratic donor who supports Gallego said they would decline to donate to the PAC's efforts.

Les mis fans, what general nickname do you give Enjolras when you try to hype him up in your head? Something like 'Go king!' without the word king because I dont think Enj would like that very much. Baby girl is also off the table.

"dump would be worse to palestine"
Interesting that the country you claim is not committing a genocide, ABSOLUTELY WOULD NO QUESTION if Dump told them to.
Ya'll, know that means Israel is as bad as Dump, right? That's not a defense of Israel and Definitely not a defense for Biden, you know this correct? Right? A Thought??? One????
Genocide is bad. Pro-Genociders are the only ones that can change their opinion on this, and they won't because they desperately want Biden to matter. Unfortunately he really hasn't throughout his entire time as both vice and pres. A forgettable loser that leftists will turn on the second he's out of office, but for now, they HAVE to be disingenuous about him, because...I don't know?
Leftists were all up in arms about R's defending every action Dump made with no critical thinking. Well here they are now. Making up reports that Biden called for a ceasefire (Nope, just the US withholding it's Veto it used several times before to stop a ceasefire. Couldn't even vote for a ceasefire... dems can't even be honest about Dear Leader and have to lie to make him appear decent. Sad shit.)
It's pathetic. Democrats actively pushed me away from their entire ideology which made me focus on something that'll actually fucking function. A Third Party. Because ya'll MFs love genocide as much as republicans, ya just don't like when you're called out for it. Pussies. Ya'll will actively fight to move the bullying from you to someone else just like you and claim you overcame. Ya didn't.
That's Democrats and leftists to me. Passing on the boulder of pain to someone else because they'll never even try to fix something before giving up entirely, so selfish they don't even think to drop that boulder, but drop it on another person and then move on acting like they solved their problem. They didn't. They just moved it to someone else, and that alone shows their empathy, even sympathy, is Faux. It's all an act and they believe in NOTHING.
Leftists are virtue signallers far more than the Right. The right pretends it's moral while knowing otherwise. The left pretends it's more moral than them while doing exactly the same as them. Quantity is apparently an indicator of poor moral choices, more than quality or the action itself. Let's just wait til Biden adds to his pile some more! Then we can MAYBE hold him accountable as they said you should with Dump. But not Biden of course. He's Special :):):)
You'd think leftists would be more mad at Israel's leadership but they seem to really love that guy too. Sad shit. Vote Third Party, leftists made the whole thing of voting pointless by forcing Dump 2.0 upon america. Apparently the world doesn't matter as much as a leftist's room.
And hey, understand that the only group discussing the ethics and merits of Genocide are leftists. Republicans already agree it's a genocide and are cheering for it. Literally the most bipartisan thing Biden did was a genocide.
Anyways, while leftists debate whether you can call it a genocide if a democrat is doing it, if the death toll of 30k+ counts as a genocide, whether Biden aiding in the Genocide is good or bad for him, R's are calling it a genocide and cheering.
That's leftism. The inability to disagree with Dear Leader matched with the harsh reality that they're worse than republicans but incapable of recognizing and growing from it.
Democrats are when Genocide can be debated as bad, so long as a Dem is committing the genocide. But oh boy Dump would for sure be worse (This means Biden is committing a Genocide) and because of that, we can never, Ever, hold another president accountable, never demand better. Never. Because, uh...dump. Yeah.
Childish. Vote third party.
