Dental Caries Detectors Market Potential Growth, Share, Demand and Analysis  Forecast To 2028
Tumblr media
Dental caries detectors are technologies that allow dentists to discover oral problems early on, such as dental caries, and provide an appropriate treatment plan for the patient. The Global Dental Caries Detectors Market is expected to develop due to reasons such as the growing senior population suffering from oral disorders, emerging medical tourism pertaining to dental treatment, and the implementation of different government initiatives for public oral health care.
The COVID-19 epidemic, on the other hand, has had a considerable impact on the whole dentistry and oral hygiene sector. During the pandemic, routine dental treatment was virtually unavailable since many dental practises were forced to close because they were considered elective procedures. While favourable developments in the safe delivery of dental care are projected in the market, the cost of receiving care is expected to rise.

Dental Caries Detectors Market Positive Long-term Growth Outlook 2018-2026
Tumblr media
Dental caries are one of the most common and widespread diseases, which are also referred as tooth cavities or tooth decay. Oral bacteria break down certain foods consumed by an individual and produce acids, which has ability to damage hard tissues of the teeth resulting into dental caries. Dental caries are usually found in two specific areas of the teeth i.e. occlusal caries (which form caries in the upper part of the teeth) and interproximal caries (caries formed between the teeth). If these areas of the tooth are left untreated, bacteria digest sugars, which are left over from food and convert them into acids, which is a waste product. These strong acids are capable of demineralizing the enamel of tooth and form tiny holes or cavities, which is the first stage of dental caries. Dental caries treatment involve root canal, fillings, and extraction. Dental caries can be prevented by brushing teeth twice a day for at least two minutes and flossing of teeth on regular basis whenever sugary food is consumed.

A/N: Request from anon. I couldn’t stop laughing when I wrote the last bits!
Words: 1450 Warnings: wisdom tooth removal, fluff
You moaned when another wave of pain tore through your jaw, pressing your palms against your cheeks in a desperate attempt to numb it out. You had been living off of liquid food and painkillers for the last few days, making you grumpy and tired.
Squeezing your eyes shut, you took a sip of your coffee, not realising that Loki was watching you. He leaned against the kitchen counter, his scrutinising gaze making you both nervous and excited. Loki was dangerous—and you loved it. None of the Avengers knew how badly you were crushing on him; that you couldn’t believe he was truly evil and cruel. In fact, your conversations, as rare as they were, were always pleasant. Loki had never called you names or treated you like you were beneath him.
“You’re in pain.” He stated bluntly, not taking his blue eyes off of you.
“I’ll get over it. I’ve fought monsters and aliens, for Heaven’s sake, I’ll have to be able to deal with a bit of tooth-ow-ache.”
Loki opened his mouth to reply when Tony entered the kitchen, as per usual ignoring his presence. He arched an eyebrow.
“Still? Seriously, (Y/N), you need to go see a dentist.”
You shook your head so fast and frantically that the pain intensified. Did you have any caries? Perhaps… now, you brushed your teeth two to three times a day like any other normal and hygienic person but every now and then… it could happen to anyone.
“At least let me have FRIDAY run a quick check with you. The scanner is in my lab.”
“No, Tony…”
The billionaire didn’t allow any contradiction—not this time. You had been silently complaining about the pain for a good two weeks now and it was gnawing on your concentration and sleep.
Ignoring your protests, he had you sit down straight on the metal table and reached for a metal detector looking device.
“Mouth open.” You obliged, noticing from the corner of your eye that Loki had followed you. He was leaning against the threshold mutely, his arms crossed.
There was a barely audible bleeping when Tony switched it on and a thin net of red lasers appeared on your skin.
“FRIDAY, perform a quick scan of (Y/N)’s teeth. She’s been in pain for days.” A short break followed, the red lasers moving around eerily. Then, the artificial intelligence spoke.
“It appears that the pain is caused by both the upper and lower wisdom teeth pushing around her other teeth, Sir. It would be recommended for them to be extracted.”
Your eyes widened. Your wisdom teeth? Now that would explain everything, including the regular inflammations of your gums around the extra pairs of molars.
Great. Just great. As if the thought of visiting the dentist wasn’t bad enough already, it wouldn’t just be a regular procedure with some harmless narcotics and some tooth fillings. Having your wisdom teeth removed meant a full-fledged surgery. You swallowed thickly.
“See? That wasn’t so hard,” Tony switched off the device and put it aside. “I’ll get you an appointment. The sooner it’s done, the sooner the pain is gone.” Prying his phone from his jeans pocket he sent a quick text message to his dentist of trust.
“That’s really not necessary, Tony, really. I’m sure they don’t need to come out right away.”
“You heard FRIDAY, (Y/N). And we have a mission coming up this weekend. We’re going to need you there.”
You growled, murmuring inaudible curses when he left the room.
“If the… dentist performs your wisdom teeth removal and thus relieves your pain permanently, then why would you refuse to go?” His voice wasn’t mocking or reproachful. Instead, you sensed genuine interest and confusion.
Blinking, you looked up at Loki. He had approached you and he was dangerously close now. Timidly, you locked your eyes with his.
“It’s just… I’m scared. It’s a childhood thing, I guess and it just stuck around. It’s called dentophobia. I get panic attacks and anxiety even thinking about going to the dentist.”
Loki frowned, not a hint of amusement on his face. “It sounds like a necessary procedure, (Y/N).” Your heart jumped when he spoke your name. Yes. He was right. It was a necessary procedure. Many of your friends had had to have their wisdom teeth removed already and they all survived it. You sighed.
“I see. Is there anything I can do?”
Your lips parted. There. Right there. There was the proof that Loki was not the heartless villain the Avengers and occasionally even his own brother made him out to be.
“That depends. Can you put a spell on me that would make my wisdom teeth fall out on their own?”
The God of Mischief smirked. “No. I’m afraid not.”
-
“Looookiiiiii!”
Clint held back a laugh when you jumped into his arms and hugged him so tightly he literally gasped. Tony was about to dart forward and protect you, not knowing how the God of Mischief would react, apart from a growing confused expression on his face. His look was poignant when he met Tony’s, one of his arms sneaking around your waist to steady you.
“How did it go?”
“It went well…” He replied suspiciously. “No complications. She’ll be fine.” His eyes found Clint. “She was about to have a panic attack before the anaesthetic finally kicked in.”
Clint chuckled. “Well, have her take a nap.”
“I’ve missed you so much!” You shouted up at Loki, ignoring the two Avengers speaking about you right behind your back. Your arms were still wrapped around him tightly.
He tilted his head. “You saw me this morning.”
“Yes! That was ages ago!” Your voice was muffled, due to the cotton-wool balls in your mouth, your speech a bit of a slur.
“It’s the anaesthetic. It’ll take a while to wear off.” He explained with a shrug, realising that Loki was not going to hurt you for the unrequested body contact. “Come on, (Y/N), you should remove those cotton balls now and take a nap.”
When she didn’t let go of him, he sighed. Strange little mortal. “I’ll take her upstairs.”
Clint’s expression darkened. “If you hurt her…”
Loki rolled his eyes. When you didn’t move, he simply scooped you up into his arms and carried you.
“Now what about those cotton balls Stark mentioned?” He said when he had tucked you in so tenderly you purred. Upon his question, your eyes widened.
“They’re in my mouth! But I don’t want to eat them, Loki! Please, don’t make me eat them!” Loki bit back a chuckle when you panicked.
“I will not make you eat them. Spit them out now.”
“On the floor?”
“On the floor.” He repeated. Obliging, you did. It took you a while to manage. You teared up when you saw all the blood on them.
“I’m bleeding! Loki, am I going to die?”
“No. You are not. That is perfectly normal.” He wasn’t familiar with Midgardian dental procedures but a bit of blood surely wasn’t concerning.
You nodded.
“I’m hungry! I could eat a pigeon! Or a horse!”
“As delightful as that sounds, solid food does not exactly sound like a wise idea now, pet. I shall bring you some water later.”
You grinned, reaching for his hand and intertwining your fingers with his. “Pet? I’m your pet.” For a moment, Loki simply stared at your joined hands. Then, his gaze met yours. It was soft.
“I know you’re not evil, Loki.” You said out of the blue. The God of Mischief frowned.
“That is good to know.”
Your eyes closed, your hand still holding his.
“Loki?”
He paused. He really liked the way you spoke his name. “Yes, pet?”
“You’re a Frost Giant.”
“That is correct.”
“But you’re not really a giant. Not compared to the Jötuns anyway.”
“No.”
“So… does that mean you’re just Frost?”
Loki blinked. An amused smile tugged at the corner of his thin lips. He was beginning to like this anaesthetic.
“I like you.” You suddenly said. And just like that, his face fell. He frowned.
“What?”
“I like you, Loki. Like, like like. You’re so handsome. You’re so dangerous and mysterious. And you’re sooo nice when no one looks. I think I’m in love with you.” Your eyes remained closed and yet, despite the anaesthetic, Loki could sense the honesty in your voice. You might have never told him this consciously… but he could tell you were not lying. You were in love with him? Him of all people?
He kept stroking the back of your hand when you finally fell asleep exhausted from the surgery, smiling down at your sleeping form. Well… he liked you too.

Lately I have been teaching on Thursdays and Fridays at NYU's school of dentistry. The students often ask for tips on how to recognize decay and how to tell when a tooth it is completely removed. The answer is not simple and not all dentists employ the same exact criteria. Decay is a process that affects dentin, in which both dentin is demineralized and invaded by bacteria. Decay can appear to be different colors depending on what it is stained by. Decay that has been present for a long while, say six months- years, usually has a orange or brownish appearance, some some decay can actually have a similar color to naturally occurring dentin.  Often it is not fully visible when a dentist performs their clinical exam and it can be covered by healthy looking enamel. Even when it is visible on a tooth's surface, often the decay visible is on the tip of a proverbial iceberg, and the amount of actual decay is much larger. When viewed on a radiograph interproximal decay can be seen as a darkening on the tooth since demineralized tooth looks darker on a radiograph than healthy dentin. Most of the time,  to better visualize the decay, an opening is made in the tooth enamel using a carbide bur and a high speed drill. Once a large enough initial opening is made the decay can be excavated using a sharp dental instrument called a spoon excavator or a low speed carbide round bur. Since the decay is softer than healthy dentin, these tools will more or less selectively remove the decayed portion. If the decay is extensive a wider open may have to be established since there is often decay still difficult to access, hiding under intact enamel.  Once a "healthy margin" can be established along the walls of the preparation, then any residual decay can be fully removed using the spoon excavator or low speed round bur. Some dentists employ a red dye called "caries detector" that will stain demineralized internal tooth structure to  more easily determine when a tooth is cleaned of decay. In my opinion, this is a great adjunct tool, but should be used with good clinical judgement, especially in deeper caries excavations, so that pulpal exposures are minimalized. Often when cleaning out extremely deep cavities some slightly soft "affected dentin" is purposely left behind, if it is immediately adjacent to the tooth's pulp. I place a layer of dycal and another layer of glass ionomer liner over it before placing a filling. The affected dentin I leave is usually is not extremely soft, but instead is relatively hard ( but if it wasn't immediately next to the pulp  I would normally remove it ). Dentists don't examine this layer with a microscope, so there is no real way of telling whether this tooth is "sterile" or if it has some bacteria present, so  covering it with a couple of layers of medicamentl seems prudent,   since these tend to desiccate and seal the affected area . This type of treatment  affected dentin is sometimes termed an indirect pulp cap (as opposed to a direct pulp cap where the pulp is actually exposed during the removal of decay). from Ask Dr. Spindel - http://lspindelnycdds.blogspot.com/2019/02/how-do-dentists-recognize-and-remove.html - http://lspindelnycdds.blogspot.com/

The Effectiveness of Home Water Purification Systems on the Amount of Fluoride in Drinking Water
Statement of the Problem
Laboratory ultrapure water purification systems for domestic use have drawn significant attention over the past few years. This can be related to the improvement of public health and concern for water contamination.
Purpose
The aim of this study was to evaluate whether home water purification systems eliminate the essential materials such as fluoride besides filtrating the heavy ions and other unwanted particles out of water.
Materials and Method
In this experimental study, six most frequently used commercial brands of water purifiers were evaluated and compared. Specimens were collected right before and after setting up the device, and 6 months later. Then, spectrophotometry (the Harrison device) was performed to compare fluoride clearance by each home water cleaner device.
Results
Based on the data collected from all water purification devices in different locations, the amount of fluoride was significantly different before and right after using home water purifier and six months later (p= 0.001 and p= 0.00, respectively).
Conclusion
The filtration of water significantly decreased its fluoride concentration. The fluoride content of purified super series iltrapure water system was approximately as much as zero in some cases.
Fluoride is a natural element branched from Fluorine. This element can be found in all sorts of water and soil. Out of every kilogram of outer layer of earth, 0.3 gram is fluoride. Mineral waters have more amount of this element compared to other sources.(1)
About 60 years ago, Grand Rapids in Michigan State was the first city in which fluoride supplement was synthetically added to tap water. In US, adding fluoride to community water supplies of many cities has improved the oral health of millions of American citizens.(2)
Fluoridation of community water supplies is adding a specific amount of fluoride (0.7-1.2 ppm) to water in order to reduce the risk of dental caries. By 2002, almost 170 million Americans were provided with this privilege.(3)
Since most of the systemic fluoride is provided through tap water to population, many policies have been established to add fluoride to community water regarding its benefits for teeth and bones.(4)
In regions and countries that do not have water-fluoridation technology, there are natural supplements as previously mentioned. For example, Iran has many mineral water supplies that contain considerable amounts of fluoride. Amount of fluoride in natural mineral waters depends on weather conditions; the warmer the weather is, the higher the amount of fluoride can be detected. Mineral waters in southern regions that have warmer weather contain more fluoride. In Iran, the highest amount of fluoride has been found in southeast and northeast areas.
Water purification systems for domestic use have drawn much of attention over the past few years. This can be related to improvement of public health and concerns for water contamination. There are several types of home laboratory reverse osmosis water purification systems that can be categorized into 3 different groups(5) as filtered systems, systems using UV irradiation, and ion-exchange systems.
The aim of this study was to find out whether domestic laboratory deionized water purification systems could eliminate the essential materials such as fluoride besides filtrating the heavy ions and other unwanted particles out of water.
Go to:
Materials and Method
In this study, 6 frequently used commercial brands of water purifiers in Ahwaz were compared. The commercial brands evaluated in the current study were CCK (Ceramic and Ceramic/Carbon Cartridges ; RTX-TS DLM filters, Korea), Soft Water (Ceramic Candles; Alpine TJ Series filters, W9332420, USA), Alkusar (Special media cartridges filters; PRB50-IN, USA), Puricom (Special media cartridges filters; Watts 4.5" x 10" Dual Housing, Korea), Water Safe (Granular Carbon Cartridges filters; LCV (Lead, Cysts, VOC's) (Carbon Block Filter Cartridges, Australia), and Aquafresh (Sediment String-Wound; Poly Spun and Pleated Washable Cartridges filters, K5520, USA). The main drinking dura pro series ultrapure water system supply for Ahwaz is provided by governmental companies. After making arrangement with certain companies that supported these brands, the devices were setup in 6 different regions of Ahwaz. Samples were collected before and right after setting up the device. To reduce the errors and elevate the accuracy of the module, 5 samples were taken from each device. Another sample was collected from each single device 6 months later. A total of 64 samples were collected including 32 unfiltered (control) and 32 filtered samples of tap water (experimental) from 6 regions in Ahwaz. Fluoride sampling kits (Spands; EW-99574-08Hach® Test Kits, USA) were used to test the amount of fluoride in sample waters. Samples were all collected in polyethylene sampling containers and were then coded. Spectrophotometry (AvaSpec-ULS2048L- USB2 UARS spectrometer, USA) was performed. In order to measure the characteristics of individual molecules, a mass spectrometer converted them to ions so that they could be moved about and manipulated by external electric and magnetic fields.
Atmospheric pressure was around 760 torr (mm of mercury). The pressure under which ions may be handled is roughly 10-5 to 10-8 torr (less than a billionth of an atmosphere). By varying the strength of the magnetic field, ions of different mass can be focused progressively on a detector fixed at the end of a curved tube and also under a high vacuum.
Latin alphabetic words were used to code each commercial device. Numbers were used for samples obtained before and after setting the device.(6)
The present article gives a review about water purification, filtration techniques and technologies that are practiced till date. Purification of water is mainly focused because of a sensitive reason that it is one of the essential sources of survival for all living beings. Water is found in many forms on the earth’s surface, large amount of drinking water is from lakes and rivers. All living beings need drinking water but human beings need them to be drunk in a purified manner with rich in minerals and salts. Pure water refers to absence of bacteria and disease causing microorganisms, dissolved metal ions and heavy impurities. To gain the whole usefulness of drinking water, it should be not only pure but also healthy. Healthy water refers to presence of nutrients such as minerals and salts that are required to the human body for functioning of body organs like heart, kidneys and blood circulation freely throughout the body. All the technologies had tried to make water pure but not healthy. This makes a lot of difference in life cycle before and after drinking only pure water for a longer period. Some technologies for purification of water chose harmful polymers and dreadful chemical compositions. The then technologies updated and entered into the nanotechnology and polymers for water purification and filtration. Reverse Osmosis is base for any purification process that uses semi permeable membrane which contains ultra, micro and nano porous membranes which removes bacteria and microbes as well as minerals and salts. This RO processed water may cause illness on consuming for a long time continuously. Hence some fiber composites and mineral cartridges were introduced to overcome to add minerals and salts to water. All these techniques adopted for purification of water and usage of fiber composites, polymer membranes are reviewed in this article with defects in them that might cause a lot of damage to mankind.
