Now dimensions in time is canon here's my everyone should watch Downtime agenda for more silly 90s fun

Dimensions in time being canonised via a 1 second clip in a flashback sequence is objectively hilarious, but also makes me wish that whoever owns Downtime had infact allowed a clip to be used in a Sarah Jane Adventures episode. Like they tried, but they got rejected and the idea of Downtime being canonised is even funnier to me than dimensions in time (even though its slightly more grounded in doctor who reality and isn't an EastEnders crossover or for children in need). I just love Downtime: my so stupidly bad its good, so obviously filmed at the concrete jungle that is UEA, budget of a few pairs of headphones and some Halloween store craft supplies, somehow responsible for giving us the character of Kate Stewart (different actor but yes this is where Kate Stewart is from, and her son Gordy, and the fact she lived on a houseboat), comfort watch.

Like please make this canon - yetis (with some incredible camp 90s transformations), the great intelligence, Sarah Jane Smith, Victoria Waterfield, the Brig, mind controlled uni students, an astral plane that looks remarkably like a beach in Cromer, with a car on it for some reason, and just some beautifully camp nonsense. (Honestly the combination of characters here would fit right in with Big Finish but like we have it on video so like even more fun)

Also first time I watched this I was screaming KATE JUST GO 5 ROUNDS RAPID at the screen, its really interesting to see how they've developed her aversion to violence and guns due to her bitterness towards her dad and the secrecy around his job into fully following his footsteps - especially post lucky day. Honestly its insane that Chibnall watched this and Daemons rising (THATS RIGHT IT HAS A SEQUEL BABY) and decided to make her the new main head of UNIT scientific research - especially as it lines up with themes in here about UNITs tactics post Brig retiring not being as effective - but omg its worked so well

Let's not forget that the last time we saw the Rani was Dimensions in Time.

In The Gold Archive book, the Fifteenth Doctor reveals that The Rani is no more after the events of the Time War.

This explains why she hasn't ever appeared in modern Doctor Who episodes in-universe, with the real-life explanation being multi-faceted.
