Times Square (1980)
A gentrifying New York City (in particular, the titular Times Square) gets its punk swan song in this coming-of-age cult classic — a sensory delight — about two girls who run away from home and find solace in one another, thumbing their nose at nimby, pearl-clutching adults.
Director: Allan Moyle
Cinematographer: Jacob Brackman
Starring: Tim Curry, Robin Johnson, and Trini Alvarado

ok so @arachnid-disc-jockey's lil djmm brought me the wonderful inspiration to just... roleswap? or sizeswap? DJMM and the little windups
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he has a windup light inside of him that is on it's last thread of life but still blinks!

There's also DJ Music Man, with giant CDs instead of cymbals!
She's also based off of starry night octopi rather than spiders, as she, instead of having a tunnel system, can simply contort and squish into small spaces like a freak. Horrible!
She has accidentally flung windup into oblivion while he was riding on one of her CDs.

Today, on April 4, 1995, passed away at the age of 50 Kenny Everett, British comedian and radio disc jockey known for his irreverent, offbeat comedic style.
Freddie Mercury and Kenny Everett met in 1974, when the singer was a guest on Everett's show, and had become close friends since.
🔹Brian May recalls 'Bohemian Rhapsody' song:
"We were told it was going to be a hard sell, but it ended up being easy because Kenny Everett stole the tape from a playback session we had to launch the 'Night At The Opera' album and took it upon himself to go out and play it to death.
That made everybody else sit up. All the rest of the radio outlets thought: "Oh God, we'd better get on this quick or else we'll be left behind!"
Queen wanted to release “Bohemian Rhapsody” as a single, but the record label EMI disagreed, claiming it was too long for radio play. In order to break the deadlock, Freddie took it to his friend, the radio DJ Kenny Everett, for a second opinion. He played it 14 times that weekend, generating huge interest, and filling the order books at record shops. Consequently, while the single was released in edited form in some countries (most notably France), the international hit version remains a full length opus.
🔹Freddie commented afterwards:
“We were adamant that it could be a hit in its entirety. We have been forced to make compromises, but cutting up a song will never be one of them.”
