Safe and Sound: The Importance of Safes in Home and Business Security
Unlocking the Potential of Lock Upgrades
In today's fast-paced world, security is paramount for both residential and commercial properties. Locksmiths play a pivotal role in enhancing security measures through lock upgrades. Let's delve into the importance and benefits of upgrading locks, both for commercial and domestic settings.
Tumblr media
Understanding Lock Upgrades
Lock upgrades involve replacing existing locks with newer, more secure models or enhancing them with additional features. With advancements in technology, locks have evolved beyond traditional mechanisms to incorporate electronic and smart technologies, offering heightened security and convenience.
Commercial Locksmith Services
For businesses, safeguarding assets, sensitive information, and ensuring the safety of employees are top priorities. Commercial locksmiths specialize in assessing security needs and implementing tailored solutions. From installing high-security locks to integrating access control systems, they provide comprehensive security upgrades to protect commercial premises effectively.
Enhancing Domestic Security
Similarly, in residential settings, ensuring the safety of loved ones and property is non-negotiable. Domestic locksmiths offer a range of services to bolster home security. Whether it's upgrading to anti-snap locks, installing digital door locks, or reinforcing entry points, they employ strategies to deter intruders and provide peace of mind to homeowners.
Benefits of Lock Upgrades
Deterrence Against Burglaries: Upgraded locks act as a deterrent to potential intruders, reducing the risk of break-ins and theft.
Improved Access Control: Electronic and smart locks offer enhanced access control, allowing businesses to manage entry permissions efficiently and monitor access logs.
Enhanced Convenience: Modern locks often come with features like keyless entry, remote access, and integration with smart home systems, offering convenience without compromising security.
Long-term Cost Savings: While initial investment in lock upgrades may seem significant, they offer long-term cost savings by reducing the likelihood of security breaches and associated losses.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
In a world where security threats are ever-present, investing in lock upgrades is a proactive step towards safeguarding your assets and loved ones. Whether for commercial establishments or domestic properties, locksmiths play a crucial role in enhancing security through tailored lock upgrade solutions.

The. fucking. keys.
If there ever was anything remotely heterosexual about Alhaitham and Kaveh's cohabitation, it died on its ass with the key idle.
Just. Look at it.
Tumblr media
There is so much going on here so allow me to break down how gay those two little pieces of metal are.
Alhaitham taking both keys by accident because they got tangled up.
Meaning they had to be in the same place.
Not even on key hangers or anything, but likely in some kind of fucking domestic little key bowl that you only get when you don't fucking care who takes whose keys.
Alhaitham's key being the silver one while Kaveh's is gold.
Meaning this was not a key Alhaitham just *owned* previously in case he misplaced the first or something.
No. This man went to the locksmith's when Kaveh moved in and fucking commissioned a new key in a Kaveh kind of color.
Like if he'd just come back with a pair of rings that would have been less embarrassing.
At this point, I just really wanna know if Kaveh is emotionally smart enough to realize he tacitly married this man years ago and Alhaitham has probably been filling out all the official paperwork and tax returns and emergency contact forms with Kaveh's name in the "Spouse" column the entire time.

Promise Me You Won't Fall In Love (Joel Miller X Reader)
Pairing: no-outbreak!joel miller x f!reader
Warnings: fluff, sweet joel, domestic joel, rom-com
Summary (Series): reader as Joel’s neighbor. Joel’s wife left him so Joel asked his neighbor for help in babysitting Sarah.
Summary: Pov: Celebrating Joel’s divorce and he confessed his love for you.
Words count: 1.3k
A/N: I’m trying to make this as a rom-com, hope you like my new series! This is part 5 of Where It All Starts. But it can also be read as a standalone. I wrote this at work lol. I'm so so happy that many of you liked it so I hope you enjoy the next parts. Stay tuned and love you!
Tumblr media
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 Part 14 Part 15 Part 16 Part 17 Part 18 Part 19 Part 20
Joel went to court today and he won the child custody. It was a certain thing anyway. Joel’s ex wife didn’t want her daughter. In fact, her daughter was one of the reasons she left and filed a divorce.
“How was it? Today?” You asked as you fed Sarah who was sitting on the baby chair.
“Went well. I’m relieved actually. That everything is finally done. I have no reason to see her again.” Joel shrugged.
“I’m happy for you, Joel.” You hugged him.
“Thank you.” Joel hugged you back.
“I think I’ll head back now.” You patted his shoulder.
“You don’t have to walk me. It’s okay.” You stopped Joel as he followed you out.
“Okay. Good night, (y/n).” He kissed you on the cheek as he closed the door.
You walked to your house and grabbed your purse to get your keys but you couldn’t find it. You panicked. You hurriedly threw all your stuff out from your purse to get a good look. Yet you still couldn’t find it. You flipped open your mat in front of your door to find your spare key.
“Right, I gave it to mom.” You remembered you gave your spare key to your mom.
“Think. Think. Think.”  Your heart beat faster and you paced back and forth hitting your head gently.
“Joel.” Joel, your neighbor, was the only one you could think of.
You hesitated for a moment but you decided to go back to his house and knock on his door.
*knock on the door*
“(y/n)? What’s wrong? Did you forget somethin’?” Joel raised his eyebrows.
“I-Uhm-Can I crash at your place tonight?” You put your hand behind your neck.
“Is there somethin’ wrong?” Joel let you in.
“Yes, actually. I forgot my keys.” You scoffed.
“Stupid me.” You shrugged.
“Oh.” Joel put his hands on his waist.
“I’ll call the locksmith tomorrow.” You said.
“Just for tonight.  Don’t worry.” You were worried Joel was uncomfortable with you sleeping under his roof.
“No worries. You can stay here as long as you want.” Joel slipped those words. He was shocked at himself.
“Uhm-” You didn’t expect him to say that.
“Sarah likes you around.” He dodged the topic.
“Of course she does. Where’s my sweet girl?” You turned around to find Sarah crawling on the carpet in the living room.
“Where are you going, miss?” You crouched and stroked her head.
“Come here, babygirl.” Joel lifted Sarah, stopping her from crawling around the coffee table and she cried.
“You don’t like me? Did I disturb your play time?” Joel bounced Sarah on his lap while he sat on the sofa.
“Come here. Give her to me.” You sat beside Joel and opened your arms.
Sarah stopped crying right away. It was like you had this magic that gave Sarah comfort.
“She likes you but she hates her dad.” Joel got envy.
“She doesn’t hate you, Joel.” You looked at Joel while bouncing Sarah as she giggled.
“Here, try again.” You passed Sarah to Joel’s arms.
*Sarah started crying*
“And..you said she doesn’t hate me.” Joel gave up.
You pulled Sarah back closer to you and she rested her head on your chest. You stroked her smooth head up and down and she fell asleep.
“You’re amazing, (y/n). Anyone who marries you in the future is the luckiest man on earth.” Joel chuckled and shook his head.
"Thank you. But the last man I dated cheated on me." You scoffed.
"He doesn't deserve you." Joel rested his hand on your shoulder.
The two of you were quiet for a while. Your eyes locked to Sarah as you cooed to her face.
"Hey, can I take you to dinner?" Joel mustered up the courage to ask you out on a date.
You flinched at his invitation. Then you looked at him not knowing what to say.
"To celebrate I'm a divorcee now." He chuckled at his jokes.
"Oh right! Sure, I'd love to." You said yes as you stroked Sarah's back gently. She was sleeping so soundly on your chest now.
Dinner Day
You asked Flo to babysit Sarah while you and Joel went to have dinner just the two of you. This was the first time you spent time together without Sarah.
"Congratulations on your divorce, Mr. Joel Miller. You are now officially a single dad. Cheers." You chuckled and clanked your glass of wine with his.
"Cheers." Joel clanked his glass to yours.
"Thank you, (y/n). I couldn't have done this without you." Joel thanked you after he sipped his wine.
"You're always welcome." You smiled.
After dinner
"Thank you for coming to dinner with me." Joel parked his car in the driveway.
"I'm the one who should be thanking you. Thank you for dinner, Joel." You took off the seatbelt and faced him.
The two of you felt the tension and your breathing were heavier than normal. Joel suddenly leaned in closer to you and kissed you. You kissed him back for a moment then you stopped. You knew this was wrong. Your heart wanted him, your body wanted him, but mentally you couldn't be with him. You were still scared to start a relationship. You were not ready to open you heart for someone because your heart had been torn apart too many times.
"Sorry, did I-" Joel apologized.
"I-uh-it's-I'm sorry Joel. You're nice. If I'm being honest, you're the nicest guy I've ever met. I like you. Trust me. I really do. But I still need time to heal from my previous relationship. It felt good for a second imagining having a family with you and Sarah. But let's just keep us this way. Just see me as a neighbor who's happy to spend time with you and Sarah. I'm really sorry, Joel." You explained to Joel why you didn't want him to kiss you because you didn't want him to misunderstand.
You liked Joel. You loved him. You had fallen in love with him but you were holding yourself back. He just got a divorce and you second guessed him. You didn't want to be hurt again.
"It's okay. I totally understand." He pulled away from you.
"Promise me you won't fall in love with me, Joel?" You looked at him and he sighed.
"It's too late darlin'. I'm in love with you. But it's okay. I understand. Take your time. It can wait. I-uh-I can wait." He looked at you with tears almost falling down.
Your lips shook and a tear fell down to cheeks. You sobbed. You felt guilty. You expected him to be mad at you but instead, Joel cupped your cheeks and wiped your tears with his thumb.
"Hey, just tell me whenever you're ready. I'm always here." He placed a kiss on your forehead and rubbed your back.
You squeezed your eyes and more tears fell down. You couldn't believe yourself. You just rejected the nicest man you had met on earth. You rejected him yet he still treated you so nice and respectful. Joel stayed with you in the car until you stopped crying and calmed down. Then the two of you went home acting like nothing happened.
When you were finally home alone you wandered in your thoughts. You kept talking to yourself,
"Was it a mistake saying no to Joel?"
"It's the best for both of us."
"I should have kissed him back."
"No, no. It was the right thing to do."
You hoped Joel would still act the same tomorrow when you meet him. Crossing your fingers that your relationship stayed the same even after what happened that night. You enjoyed his company and you didn't want to lose it. If moving forward in the relationship might change it, then it was better to stay this way.
To be continued...

Hear ye hear ye!
I come bringing two Dungeon Meshi marchil fanfics to share
Enough
He got crumbs of it in moments, here and there, and it would be more than enough to last the winter. Chil knew how to live on little, with only what he could afford. But love? Love he had had enough of for a lifetime.
I'll start with the shorter one that I wrote first, a quick Chilchuck POV 1.3k words oneshot that's bittersweet if not just plainly sad. It’s about repressing a crush essentially, but the marchil is mostly a front for a character study about Chilchuck’s complex feelings on his marital situation and love in general. I’ve been told many times in comments that even without shipping marchil it was enjoyable, so give it a shot if that sounds interesting!
He soaked her in, like hard bread softening in broth.
Grind Me Down Sweetly
Even years after their journey into the dungeon, Marcille wasn’t quite over her existential dread over short lifespans… And it showed. Every other day, she came by to Chilchuck’s locksmith shop with a shocking lack of locks to smith.
Coffeeshop au except it’s not an au and there’s no coffeeshop. This one is a long oneshot of 17k words, and contains flashbacks that are meant to loosely span over a year. This fic can pretty much be entirely read as platonic. They’re just close friends but they give married energy is all. Slice of life and cozy with a side of banter & tsundere behavior, and existential dread hurt/comfort as the cherry on the sundae. It contains some classic Dungeon Meshi things like storytelling through cooking and sharing meals~ If you like the Marcille and Chilchuck dynamic in canon, this is pretty much just a bunch of that, shenanigans abound!
She clung to her friends like time was always running out.
Blonde hair is the epitome of beauty to him meanwhile his greying hair brings her existential despair. I am composed and collected about this
"I am going to chase you out with a broom"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some related-ish memes I made!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Extra author notes and marchil rambling under cut
With how chil is so irritable and private about romance and his feelings it makes sense that their romance would have passive-agressive energy. Are they just friends or pining? Oh wouldn’t you like to know. Are they just lightheartedly bantering or is he legitimately pissed or are they blinking in morse code their true feelings at each other? Yes
My post-canon timeline is Chilchuck lives a nice life living alone in his house-shop except his friends all visit him and care, and even though he likes living alone it’s also bittersweet and every corner of his life is haunted by the ones he loves and loved and the moments he had with them. That’s it that’s all I want… (mostly the nice life part lol)
My marchil manifesto is that she grows on him stubbornly like fungal yeast and it brings out his flavor like beer <3 Because she stubbornly puts her nose everywhere and refuses to give up on getting closer to her friends and it makes him open up and repress his feelings less and aaaa <33 Obligatory shout out to the dunmeshi discord serv for engaging with my rambles
Tumblr media
For someone who dislikes alcohol I’m having so much fun working beer metaphors and stuff into the writing, Chilchuck has all the fun motifs to play with fr... Traps, lockpicking, married life, work, destitution, starvation, rejection, repression, opening urself up to the world. Give me the most domestic fluff and give it a subtle foundation of angst and hurt comfort 👌
And I do think that Marcille takes a particular interest in Chilchuck especially because he’s so set on being a closed book as well. Yeah she def is like 👀 at him. Aaah the way she wants to meet his family so bad 😭💕 I think she romanticizes him & his family life/idealizes him as a virtuous husband a lot too. Like how she tends to think of things in a more flowery story-like way.
I do compare him to bread and her to soup in that he soaks up in her warm vibes and softens up. Which has become a personal favorite. He was bread, she was soup, can I make it any more obvious /lyr Soggy bread Chilchuck is so funny to me. Like, you know that rock solid bread but then you soak it in soup and then it just becomes the softest crumbliest thing. I think Chilchuck is a really hard bread that will break your teeth if you don’t put him in some soup beforehand. Or wine. I wracked my brain a lot about what food Chil would like (because his Adventurer’s Bible profile just says he love alcohol and hates sweet dishes rip) and I end up giving him a bread motif a lot, since it pairs well with alcohol and whatnot.
With marchil I either do unrequited angst because Chilchuck will NOT allow himself to feel, or the most domestic fluffy shit ever but in a mostly platonic dimension because once again -gestures at Chilchuck- But in a true Marcille "If I was Chilchuck’s wife" Donato fashion she manages to get her nose into the most stubborn’s people stuff like a barnacle and it’s. So married people coded anyways. They’re a lil messed up but it’s ok they’ll iron out those bumps. Ironing because they are gonna do the most domestic chores together 🔥🔥 MARRIEDCORE I TELL YOU I should get around to making more fics and more different vibes though, I already have a bunch of prompts written down~
Tumblr media
Even more rambling and headcanons!!
I hc that when he gets his shop all his living quarters are half-foot sized so whenever the party comes to visit they suffer sitting down at the dinner table and whatnot
There’s a very specific horror in not being able to grow old with your loved one… It’s gotta be rough being in a relationship where you don’t mature at the same speed/rate. It must be so heartbreaking to turn around and your lover suddenly looks 70 while you’re still like 26 Chilchuck living until he lives with either Meijack or Flertom or at the castle and spends his days grumbling about people being even more incompetent than they used to be real. He can live longer than 50 🙏 come on peepaw you can make it to 70. He’s got so many friends ready to nurse him, prob while he complains about it. This is why I find elderly half-foots a funny mental picture. For a while I wondered if half-foots aged visually much at all in the traditional sense, and then I remembered these.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In my post-canon headcanons I’ve adopted the idea that Marcille doesn’t do her hair, it’s always someone else making her hairdos like an attendant or Kabru and like maybe Falin learns. In the "it takes a village to raise someone" community mutual aid energy… And the rare times where the task befalls Chilchuck he learns how to put it in a single braid (even if it’s so much hair for him to hold in his small hands all at once rip) because the one time he braided it in two in canon it reminded him of Meijack and gave him psychic damage. WHICH. Ohhh my god you have no idea how much I care about Chilchuck’s daughters now. After writing the first half of Grind Me Down Sweetly I am forever changed I know them all by name and know everything there is to know about them, I am making so many headcanons every day… Meijack wears thigh-high boots because she hates when sand, dirt or snow gets in her shoes- I have fanart coming up of them over at @fuumiku and I’d love making fics centered around them as well eventually yippee The angst of old senile Chilchuck still tying marcille's hair... Old senile chilchuck confusing marcille for one of his daughters… "Have you gotten taller? Oh how much you’ve grown" -breaking his neck looking up at her- I want Chilchuck to get the top notch elder treatment.
Ok this is the alcoholism tangent. I really want to believe Chilchuck can be super old, but… Realistically he’s gonna drink himself to an early grave, he’s a work hard play hard kinda guy.
Tumblr media
Marcille would be horrified if she knew the extent of it fr fr, but I do think it’d drive a wedge between them if she tried getting him to lay off of it… If he’s open to it though that’d be so nice and sweet. Hey hey btw did you know, Chilchuck is canonically underweight due to extremely strict dieting and alcohol can act as a good hunger suppressant! Lots of issues to dig into here It’d be cute if his daughters visit him often and collectively keep tabs on him in a caring way. It’s less cute actually beinh the daughter and having to deal with it but- CHILCHUCK IS WORTH IT okay!!! Where’s that meme of "You can fix him? So is 5 other people y’all look like a construction crew" bc this increasingly looks like ‘Marcille Senshi Laios Izutsumi and his family make sure he doesn’t poison himself like a dog with chocolate’ mission.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Truly for some people reason just flies out the window when it comes to alcohol, coherence gives way to excuses. He reminds of someone I know who got a grave disease that’s worsened by alcohol and just. Continues to take it regularly. You know that thing that’s said where "an alcoholic parent will have 2 kids, one will grow to be alcoholic too while the other will never touch a drop of alcohol" and Chilchuck is def the first I think. He gives the vibe that he’d say "An alcoholic parent puts a strain on familial relationships?? Pshh, my father was and look at me! I turned out great!". I don’t think Chil could really get shaken out of it at this point tbh, seems very ingrained in him, would prob fight it back. I relate with my own familial situation ughh. Maybe if he realized how it hurt the people around him and not only himself though…. I’d def like to see him ease up on it. Drinking is often a social activity though. That gives me hope, especially with the whole dunmeshi lesson of sharing meals, that he might be able to/have recontextualized how or when he likes to take alcohol, that alcohol is better when you have others with you and you’re still able to talk and whatnot. Chilchuck says that he’s pretty picky with alcohol tho, like he has specific tastes or a high bar. Laios can ban good beer in the kingdom and then Chilchuck just stops because it all tastes awful and he’s not rich enough to import. The brewery he likes mysteriously burns down in a fireball incident one night. Marcille risks prison for her loved ones part 2, now with diplomatic immunity! ✨
I have hcs about Chil’s family dynamic, about his daughters and how alcoholism or workaholism may have affected everyone (not me inferring that Puckpatti being the most idealistic and optimistic from Chil’s daughters is probably a result from her being the youngest and perhaps Chil being the most often at work during that time and so she was mostly raised by her mother without much involvement from him). That’s a topic for another day though, for now I leave you all with thoughts of Flertom painting flowers on a shitty ceramic mug when she was 3 and Chil begrudgingly asking Marcille advice on picking a birthday gift for Puckpatti :) Oh yeah, because if we look at the timeline in The Adventurer’s Bible and combine it with when Chilchuck said that "Due to certain circumstances he hasn’t seen his wife or daughters in years" in the Senshi backstory chapter, besides letters with Flertom he has seemingly not seen them in 4 years. 4 YEARS. Thank god dungeons disappeared, it took that much for him to retire

MAY-U - Glorfindel x Erestor
Tumblr media
This story has been written for @sortumavaara and is accompanied by chibis made by this amazing artist!
Tumblr media
Chibi commissions are open!
Characters: Glorfindel x Erestor
Prompts:Neighbours - Locksmith - If you ask me to beg, I'll beg
Words: 2 110
Warnings: a kiss (and potentially criminal activity)
Tumblr media
Glorfindel squinted at the door accusingly.
The very next day, he vowed, he’d finally buy a doorstopper to keep those pesky drafts from accidentally locking him out of his flat when all he’d wanted to do was retrieve his mail.
Of course, it might have been a supremely silly idea to do so in the middle of the night, but—being a busy professional—he tended to these domestic chores whenever the thought struck him.
Unfortunately, even the best, most earnest resolutions in the world wouldn’t unlock his undeniably firmly closed front door now.
He considered calling Elrond, but he suspected that he’d gone through all of the seven spare keys his friend had been squirrelling away for emergencies: one, he’d lost at the mall, the other had fallen down an open manhole, two of them were surely somewhere inside his inaccessible apartment, and he couldn’t remember what happened to the others for the life of him.
Maybe, he mused, one was still in the old, battered car he owned but never drove. That sudden burst of inspiration did not help him much either, as the key to that accursed vehicle was in his bathroom drawer, inside his flat.
Fishing his old, battered flip phone, the little battery in the top right corner flickering alarmingly, out of his pocket, he reviewed his options with as much level-headed rationality as he could muster.
He didn’t doubt for a moment that his friends, annoyed and incredulous as they would undoubtedly be, would offer him food and shelter in his hour of need, but the thought of their faces and sympathetic cooing made his blood run cold.
Blowing a stray strand of golden hair out of his face, Glorfindel sagged against the closed door in dismay.
How did this always happen to him?
He was an accomplished ophthalmologist—respected and cherished by his colleagues and patients alike—and yet, he seemed utterly unable to manage something as fundamental as not leaving his flat without a key.
“Hello there, do you need help?”
Glorfindel shot up, banging his head against the doorknob and yelping loudly.
He’d never heard his mysterious neighbour, occupying the flat at the end of the landing, speak this many words in a row. And they were addressed to him!
“I’ve locked myself out,” he confessed in a tiny voice.
“Again?”
Grimacing, Glorfindel brought his hands to his face to hide from the disapproving gaze of the handsome stranger. If even his neighbour, who’d never granted him more than a sharp nod in passing, had caught on to his shortcomings, what were people in general thinking and saying about him behind his broad, muscular back?
“I could help you with that,” the other went on, callously disregarding Glorfindel’s existential crisis in his unshakeable pragmatism. “But you’d have to pay me the common rate for an emergency locksmith.”
That made Glorfindel look up once more; he’d always been so distracted by the darkly magnetic aura of the furtive, slender man with the impressive glower that he’d never stopped to notice that his clothes, while well-tailored, seemed rather threadbare and had been mended with meticulous skill.
The complex they inhabited was far from cheap to live in, and an ungracious but pervasive thought arose in Glorfindel’s befuddled mind: How could this man afford to pay his rent?
As far as he could tell, the mysterious siren with whom he shared a floor and the occasional lift ride went out at all hours of the night, often only returning after morning light when Glorfindel, rising from another night of bleak insomnia, got ready to go to work himself.
“Are you a locksmith?” he asked suspiciously.
“Something of the sort,” the smirking man gave back with a nervous shrug. “I can open your door, right now, isn’t that what matters?”
Glorfindel hesitated for a moment. “What’s your name?”
“Erestor, but don’t worry, there won’t be an official bill.”
The unshakeable sensation of doing something wicked and reprehensible overcame Glorfindel, but he nodded solemnly. “Very well, Erestor. I shall pay you…and I’d like to invite you to stay over for dinner sometime. As a reparation for the time you’ll lose getting me out of this mess?”
Cocking one eyebrow, Erestor moved down the hallway to retrieve his tools from his own flat. “This won’t take all evening,” he said calmly.
“Maybe…it could?” Glorfindel heard himself say in a voice that sounded considerably more suave and confident than he felt.
As soon as he was alone in the hallway again, Glorfindel pinched the bridge of his nose in exasperation; his glasses were in the flat and his head had started pounding with a tension headache five minutes ago.
He truly hoped that Erestor would make good on his promise to overcome the treacherous lock quickly.
"You have to move away from the door," a soft, mocking voice resounded.
Glorfindel’s head snapped up, and when he beheld Erestor once more, his tongue went numb in his mouth—he’d tied up his glossy, dark hair neatly and squatted down before the lock, squinting at it in concentration.
The alluring shape of his behind and the elegant curve of his spine didn’t go unnoticed, and Glorfindel desperately tried to redirect his wandering thoughts to something less incriminating.
“Listen, I’m an ophthalmologist—if I can offer my professional services to you one of these days…”
Looking up from his work, his hands enviably steady, Erestor merely cocked one eyebrow. “My eyes are fine, thank you. There just seems to be a considerable amount of lint and other debris wedged into this lock. Do you ever check your key before ramming it into the keyhole?”
Shamefacedly, Glorfindel had to admit that he did indeed not do such a simple inspection.
“I see,” Erestor mumbled distractedly. “No problem!”
His slender wrists were moving delicately until Glorfindel heard the telltale click echoing through the deserted hallway, and his heart sank.
“There we are,” Erestor declared, provocatively pushing open the door and stepping back.
“Do you…want to come in?” Glorfindel asked, all but stumbling over his words.
To his surprise, Erestor seemed to consider his invitation for a few seconds before shaking his head in what looked strangely akin to dismay and regret. “I must be somewhere else. Another time, maybe!”
Softening that ambiguous rejection of Glorfindel’s clumsy advances with a radiant smile, he strode towards the stairwell, tucking his tools surreptitiously under his arm.
Tumblr media
Glorfindel threw his suitcase on the bed—he’d only just come home from a symposium about new laser technologies, and he already yearned to be anywhere other than his deserted, slightly disorganised flat.
For three days, he’d been bathed in the company of his peers. At that moment, he’d found them rather dull and boorish, but he now regretted every ungenerous thought bitterly as the gaping emptiness of his own home seemed to expand like a black hole, ready to suck every last drop of light and happiness out of his soul.
Just as he was about to do something laughably dramatic, though, he heard the loose board outside his front door creak treacherously.
Rushing to the spyhole, he was taken over by a recklessly idiotic idea—so much for having overcome that first impulse of madness!
Before he could give himself a moment to think things over, he strode out the door and looked around as if searching for something, pointedly feigning not to notice Erestor standing just outside his own flat.
“I was sure I’ve left it somewhere around here,” Glorfindel mumbled, his eyes glued to the worn carpet, and suppressed a grin as he heard his door clunk shut. “Oh misery!” he exclaimed. “Locked out again! And it’s the middle of the night!”
“I wouldn’t have thought that eye doctors have to work this late,” Erestor commented dryly, gesturing at the long, white coat Glorfindel was wearing and his uncharacteristically neat, smooth hairdo.
“I’ve only just come home from a medical convention,” Glorfindel explained defensively, as he didn’t want the other to get exactly the right impression of what was happening here.
“And, instead of going to bed and resting, you came out here to search for…” Erestor cocked his head quizzically as if it was entirely normal to have vaguely flirty conversations with one’s neighbours in the middle of the night.
“My bag,” Glorfindel replied, trying his best to look appropriately crestfallen. “My medical bag! It was full of goodies too!”
“As I surmise that you’ve been inside your flat already, I dare say that you’ve retrieved your key from said bag and consequently took it in. Do you need help looking for it?” It was evident in Erestor’s tone that he hadn’t in the least bought Glorfindel’s little subterfuge. “I could unlock your door again, and tonight, I have no other plans, so I’d gladly take you up on that late-night snack if you’re not too tired.”
Startled, Glorfindel stared at the apparition in worn grey overalls—had he ever found sturdy work garb to be this attractive before?—partially obscuring a clean, orange button-down until he was sure that his eyes were positively bulging out of his skull.
“Or did you change your mind in the meantime?”
At once, Glorfindel shook his head vehemently, carelessly unravelling his uncharacteristically tidy bun. “By all means, unlock my door and come in!”
All fatigue seemed to have drained out of his system, and he was shifting from one foot to the other impatiently, overjoyed at the prospect of observing those nimble fingers at work again.
Erestor smiled, tapping his skilful fingers against his toolbox playfully, and waited patiently.
“If you want me to beg, I’ll beg,” Glorfindel murmured, suddenly struck with how profoundly unreasonable his whole ploy had been. “I just want to get back into my flat…now more than ever!”
With a breathy peal of laughter, the unorthodox locksmith bent to his task, humming happily under his breath at the sight of the flustered doctor hovering above him.
As soon as the door swung open with a protesting groan, Erestor burst into laughter. “Your pesky bag seems to have hidden in plain sight! It’s right there, in the middle of the foyer, glaring at us!”
Ducking his head in shame at being found out, Glorfindel slunk in and threw an exasperated look into his clean but empty kitchen—he’d not been home, and he knew his fridge to be woefully empty.
“Can I maybe tempt you with delivery food? I’m afraid I don’t have anything edible in the house,” he confessed, avoiding Erestor’s amused gaze.
“Aren’t you a doctor?”
“I’m an eye doctor,” Glorfindel laughed. “And pizza is food for the soul!”
That was a statement with which even Erestor, contrary by nature, couldn’t disagree, so he followed his distracted host into a slightly cluttered living room where he simply halted.
“You may sit,” Glorfindel invited, hoping that he could at least unearth something to drink from the depths of his refrigerator.
“I’m dirty,” Erestor replied.
“Take the overalls off!” Moving towards the kitchen slowly while also refusing to take his eyes off his guest in case he took him by his word, Glorfindel wracked his brain for something smart and charming to say. “Do you also come from work?”
“Something of that kind, yes,” Erestor grinned. The sound of the fastenings of his protective garment coming undone echoed through the tense silence between them, and Glorfindel swallowed thickly.
The need for a beverage was both eclipsed and exacerbated by the revelation of Erestor’s maddeningly form-fitting trousers and impossibly unwrinkled shirt, leaving Glorfindel hovering on the threshold of the kitchen indecisively.
“Are these yours?” Erestor asked with a hint of sharp interest in his voice as he held up a pair of lightweight glasses that had been threatening to slip off the coffee table.
“Hmmm,” humming his embarrassed assent, Glorfindel decided that the refreshments could wait a little longer.
“Very sexy! Put them on for me,” Erestor demanded, getting to his feet and padding over like a sleek predator on the prowl. “I do want you to have all your senses about you when I name my price for my second rescue mission!”
“I thought I’d pay for dinner,” Glorfindel said somewhat sheepishly as he took his glasses and slid them onto his face; Erestor’s impish expression—his twinkling eyes and the tiny wrinkles around his smirking mouth—came into sudden focus.
Before he could dispel the suffocating mist of confusion and desire pervading the room, Glorfindel felt a strong, slightly calloused hand wrap around the back of his neck, and then, warm, soft lips brushed across his own.
“That too,” Erestor smiled. “Later. Much later!”

The Rise of Digital Locks: A New Era in Home Security
As technology continues to advance, so does the realm of home security. Digital locks are at the forefront of this revolution, offering enhanced security features and convenience that traditional locks simply cannot match. From keyless entry to remote access, digital locks are transforming the way we protect our homes.
Tumblr media
Benefits of Digital Locks
Keyless Convenience: Digital locks eliminate the need for physical keys, reducing the risk of lost or stolen keys. Instead, you can use a code, fingerprint, or even a smartphone app to unlock your door.
Enhanced Security: Many digital locks come with advanced security features such as tamper alerts, auto-locking, and the ability to track who enters and exits your home. These features provide an added layer of security and peace of mind.
Remote Access: With digital locks connected to your home’s Wi-Fi network, you can control and monitor your locks remotely. This is especially useful for letting in guests or service providers when you’re not home, or for ensuring your doors are locked even when you’re away.
Choosing the Right Digital Lock
When selecting a digital lock for your home, consider the following factors:
Compatibility: Ensure the lock is compatible with your door and any existing security systems.
Power Source: Check whether the lock is battery-operated or needs to be hardwired, and choose one that fits your preference.
User-Friendliness: Opt for a lock with an intuitive interface that’s easy for all household members to use.
Conclusion
Digital locks represent the future of home security, offering unmatched convenience and advanced features. By upgrading to a digital lock, you can enhance your home’s security and enjoy the benefits of modern technology in your daily life.

❤️- if your character was in modern day (or depending on the time period if they were in the past), what job would they aspire to have?
i'd love to hear this answer for all of your main ocs, if that's not too much to ask!
It's not too much at all :)
Izjik: Definitely some kind of construction work. She's good with her hands, likes physical labor, and could violate osha guidelines like nobody's business. I could also see her working on some sort of deep sea fishing vessel.
Sepo: A composer of music. He ends up doing this in the epilog, but making music is a timeless sort of job. I think even in modern times, he'd lean towards the orchestral.
Twenari: With no magic to study, she'd go with the next best thing and become a physicist. She'd want to specialize in cosmic radiation, but she'd dabble in everything.
Djek: He would want to be some sort of rich and successful businessman. In the book, he works on locksmithing, so in modern times, he'd probably run a home security company, along with doing some crime on the side.
Astra: She's a mechanical engineer at heart. Robotics, even with no magic at her disposal, are her specialty. She'd probably end up on a bot fight tournament or modding cars for illegal street racing. If given computer access, I have no doubt she'd become a proficient hacker.
Mashal: All he really wants to do is protect people. On Illaros, this meant guarding travelers from bandits and raiders as a Sulu'Okan knight. However, I don't think he'd like the modern police system. Especially not after spending some time around Astra. Instead, I think he would study up to become an EMT.
Ivander: He would say he wouldn't want to work if he could avoid it, but he's wrong and would go crazy with boredom. I think he'd follow a similar path and become a private investigator. With computers, he'd be able to do all the snooping he wants from the comfort of his home. He'd definitely learn how to hack into places, and he'd love the more domestic side of investigating non-criminal cases.
Thanks for the ask, this was fun!
