And why should gay people like me support the miners? Because miners dig for coal, which produces power, which allows gay people like you to dance to Bananarama till 3 o'clock in the morning.

this probably won’t happen but I have this scene in my head for the upcoming third Downton Abbey movie since Robert James-Collier and Dominic West are confirmed to be returning.
Like the Downton Crew goes to America for whatever reason and because Guy knows them and has a gigantic mansion due to being a famous movie star, he invites them to stay at his house and when they walk in Thomas is just there chillin’ ‘cause he lives there too and everyone who isn’t Mary just has a look like
Tumblr media
while Thomas looks like a deer in headlights because his former very rich and proper bosses and many of his former coworkers, most likely including the guy who said he should be horsewhipped, just showed up at his gay little mansion except everyone then feels like they have to pretend they don’t notice the gay part
This would never happen but I can see it in my head and I think if done right it would be funny

You walk downstairs, and find him with your eyes. You halt and walk on. But he's waiting for you.

Tell her she looks beautiful.  You’re delighted to hear it, but you cannot admit it.

Bill Benson is about to throw away his life on the tables. Alone, hollow and without hope.

Then suddenly he lifts his face and sees Anne standing there, tall, serene, graceful, her eyes shining with unshed tears. On an impulse, he snatches back his money. Rien ne va plus.

The wheel spins. And every last thing he owns would have gone. But no. Her love, her beauty have saved him.

She takes his hand, and they walk away. Together. The end.
“It seems you are my saviour.”
“And I intend to remain your saviour for a very long time to come.”

My hope: Thomas and Guy will be given a proper storyline that does justice to their sudden attraction and develops their chemistry and romance.
My fear: Thomas and Guy will be in the movie for two, I say two, minutes, the legal minimum to put them in the opening credits and trick us into going to the cinema.

PSA: The Hour is now on Netflix UK (and maybe abroad?). If you have never watched this, do yourself a favour and check it out. It's one of the most beautiful and tragic things ever and I am still mourning its axing 12 years later. If you have watched it, we can be traumatised all over again (as if I didn't have a DVD set and downloaded episodes...).

Just finished the first episodes of the Crown's last season and it's safe to say that a more vulgar shitshow never saw the sight of the screen. Everything, from the treatment of Diana into this constant victim, to the villainization of the Al-Fayed family (as if Mohammed would give two fucks about anything else than justice for his only boy), without forgetting Charles' whitewashing, is absolutely vulgar in every way. Representing the only Arab characters of your show like literal fame-diggers in order to make the royal family appear more "dignified" is honestly borderline racist.
It's amazing to me how those writers take such a distorted version of the truth and treat Diana and Dodi, and even Mohammed Al-Fayed, DEAD PEOPLE, like pawns in their romanticization of the royal family. I mean, Diana appearing as a ghost to Charles to absolve him of literaly destroying years of her life ? Really ? The first seasons of the show got us used to better quality and better respect of the complexity of these characters. This is just becoming a cheesy and biased documentary instead of being the nuanced portrait of one of the most complex institutions in the world. What a disappointment. The whole thing is barely saved by the exceptional performances of all of these actors, but even they deserves better than this fanfiction writing.
