Rewatching Favourite Scenes:-
The Crown 4x10 – Grotesque Misalliance
Finishing up our favourite scenes from The Crown with one of the very best of the whole show: the brutally honest breakdown of Charles and Diana’s marriage.
History told us it would come to this. By the 1990’s, the royal couple’s infamous issues and infidelities were labelled as the “War of the Waleses” by the press.
The fight got ugly before the Prince and Princess succumbed to divorce; it was eventually revealed both Charles and Diana had tried to manipulate media coverage.
The whole of Season 4 builds up to this royal belter of a confrontation. The Crown introduces us to teenage Diana in episode 1, played with skill and sincerity by Golden Globe winner Emma Corrin. Young Diana is charming but naïve; overwhelmed by her own popularity. She later finds purpose campaigning for humanitarian causes.
Charles is viewed less sympathetically as he rejects his superstar bride – with a touch of jealousy. Josh O’Connor won an Emmy for his impressive slow-burn performance as Charles, the prince of suppression, finally loses control, railing against his wife as well as the crown. Placing love before duty. Pursuing his affair despite consequences.
The audience knows what's coming next; Charles will ultimately marry Camilla. He and Diana will never reign supreme. But The Crown continues to make us care about all the people at the heart of the story, even as we may brace for impact.
Diana's story concludes in the THE CROWN S6 PT I:- premieres THIS WEEK on Netflix | Thurs 16th Nov 2023

It's the same ring. And it's exactly the same size. It is very special. What an honor to be able to wear it.

Are two completely different pairs of shoes.
The Crown on Netflix….
…should definitely be enjoyed with caution. It most certainly doesn’t depict the story as it really was and one should keep that in mind very vividly when consuming this show. The royal family has always been very private and careful about their privat lives, especially regarding the skeletons in their closets. Obviously. So everything that is public knowledge and hence featured in the show has to be taken with a grain of salt. First one must consider, who would spill the guts about the royal family? Someone who is close to them and a real friend would most certainly not gush their secrets to the public and those who are the ‚friends of the family‘ mentioned ever so often in the boulevard press are surely not really that well informed and can thus as I argue not be trusted.
What we can trust however, is sources like Diana‘s book and the fact that Charles and Camilla are together to this date. We know from Diana‘s very own autobiography how miserable she was and how badly she had been treated by Charles during their marriage and that Camilla never really disappeared (There were three of us in that marriage, so it got a bit crowded). If one thinks logically the situation is crystal clear. Charles couldn’t marry Camilla but he had to marry someone. The future King of England needs a wife and an heir. So a contest was started. We could compare it to „Farmer wants a Wife“. Just, he didn’t make it that official. In the end he found the perfect contestant and with the help of the establishment, the firm, the crown, he tricked her into marrying him, ruining a perfectly fine girl. Diana was too flattered, too in love to see it. What we can hold against the whole lot (the family, plus Camilla if you want), is that nobody said anything. They all knew the doom that was to befall her but nobody warned her, they all collectively and consciously let her ran into the trap like the mice in their cellars.
The family wanted the perfect fairytale and the best possible outcome for the future of the monarchy, Charles wanted to shine (wich backfired a bit) and make everyone proud. Camilla wanted Charles to be happy, and since he agreed to see her anyways it was perfect. Diana got run over in the process.
So conclusively, I ask, (and I think we all know that already) they should have just let him marry Camilla in the first place, before she even married APB and they would have had their REAL fairytale. They were in love. Instead, they sacrificed Diana like a lamp in an ancient greek ritual. It‘s stupit, thank you.

Now that's wild. See that's why I love royal families, even as someone who doesn't like to meddle in politics that much, my hoby could be just reading stuff about royals over and over and learn about their family drama more and more every day. Of course I never believe everything I read but I also don't ignore it. Charles and Diana were everything but happy together.

Charles getting cancer is actually comical to me.
Imagine the only purpose you have in this life, the only reason you were born is to be king. That’s it, that’s all you have. IS TO BE KING. You were told from childhood that you one day would rule England after your mother. So you wait and wait. You wait for 59 YEARS. Because your 96 year old mother hasn’t carked it yet. THEN she finally kicks the bucket, you’re finally king at 73 years old. Congratulations. Your life purpose has finally happened. But not even two years in ASS CANCER beats you. What a life huh?
It’s a our princess coming through for the win.

I hope Diana is doing a training montage in whatever afterlife she ended up in, to prep for their fight.

The short teaser sees Princess Diana and Prince Charles, now played by Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West, heading towards their divorce. The pair is preparing for separate TV interviews on the matter. The bright spotlights, extreme close-ups, and voiceover of the British news coverage during this unprecedented time invokes an unsettling feeling. They both appear very anxious with Diana seen fixing her hair and Charles seen fiddling with his hands as his face twitches. The TV cameras start to roll, and the trailer ends with various phrases highlighting their “Broken Marriage” like “All Out War”, and the “Princess of Wales upstaging her husband” being heard. That only sets up the dire mood ahead and, as we know from Season 4, Charles never likes to be upstaged.
