Engulfed in Memories to Share with Mesa Verde National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the southeast while taking in views across cliff dwellings present at the Spruce Tree House in Mesa Verde National Park. This is from an overlook walk while I began hiking the Petroglyph Point Trail. My thought on composing this image was to capture of you of the cliff dwellings and have them run across the image center. I've pulled back a little more on the focal length so that I could include some of the trees and nearby surroundings as a foreground interest and have a layered look beyond. The cliff wall above was also important as it added to the setting and story for how the Ancestral Puebloan people would have to go up and down the walls to get to those dwellings.

Thunder comes with a new work flow - Midjourney, DxO, Affinity Photo

The output from Midjourney can be a bit murky so DxO and bitty when upscaled. Therefore a new workflow tested.

The results a brighter and more colourful but do take away to colour focus of Millet who emphasised ethe duller part tones.

With DxO Photolab 7 (after converting to tiff) Preferable to editing in Affinity Photo - Default preset - White balance on the grey clouds includes the colours - Color negative film; Aga Ultra Color 100 - Selective Tones - increase shadows, black to light

Gigapixel upscale 2x (needed to send the source for GP to Affinity Photo.

The ​Day ​Is ​Gone by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: The ​Day ​Is ​Gone Put all the hurts and worries away The sun has set The evening is nigh The mountains are calling Showing off a majestic glow So take​ in the view Savor a day lived And look forward to tomorrow} Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one late afternoon in Colorado at bed and breakfast location stayed overnight in the Pagosa Springs. The view is looking to the northeast to ridges and peaks of the East-Central San Juan Mountains. This was at a bed-and-breakfast place I stayed overnight after exploring more of southeastern Colorado in Durango and Silverton. So after many hours of driving this day, it felt wonderful to take in a mountain view for the evening. As for the skies above, it was as I began working on the image in post-production that I then decided to once again try out the sky replacement setting in Photoshop with this image. The sunset colors with the clouds definitely seemed appropriate for this Colorado mountain setting in what I had loved seeing. So the skies are part of the Adobe stock images in Photoshop but all else is captured with my Nikon D850 SLR camera. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 7 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

A Great Start to a Day in Colorado by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting outside a yurt Airbnb I was staying overnight in the Cortez area of southeastern Colorado. Many years prior, I’d stayed for a few nights in a yurt in the Fairbanks area, so I was definitely happy to enjoy this overnight lodging before heading into Mesa Verde National Park.

I Am Blessed to Finding Heaven on Earth in the Places I Visit! by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the northeast from a front porch area at a bed and breakfast place I was staying in the area of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. The setting with a view beyond a front porch to a nearby meadow with evergreen trees and a backdrop of mountains with ridges and peaks of the San Juan Mountains in the distance. My thought on composing this image was to take advantage of the wooden porch for a view beyond that capture the feel of that mountain, western America landscape. The rest was later making adjustments with control points in DxO PhotoLab 7 to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image. I also used the perspective tool in DxO PhotoLab 7 and eliminate any distortions from the alignment and angled view present. This is located at the Elk Trace Bed & Breakfast.

Exploring Mesa Verde National Park with a Park Ranger Guide by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While at the Soda Canyon Overlook with a view looking to the south-southwest to the Balcony House in Mesa Verde National Park. Which drew me into this image and setting was the park ranger lead tour of this dwelling. I wanted to capture that view of the park ranger giving information to the group in the tour while pulling back on the focal ;length to include the entirety of this national park setting. From where I was located to the Balcony House, I measured on Google Maps as being about a quarter mile.

The Stars and Stripes with a Mountain Backdrop (Glacier National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking around the shores of Swiftcurrent Lake with a view looking across those waters to the southwest and mountains of the Northern Lewis Range and Continental Divide. This is located in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park. One can see the light dusting of snow that had happened the night prior from a recent front that came through. With the clouds hanging over the mountains, there was a mood that seemed to draw me into the setting and image captured. My thought on composing this image was to align myself to center the flagpole with the American flag and then have a backdrop of the mountains behind it. Given I was doing post-processing work with this image a few days before Veterans Day, I felt that day would add to the memories of my time and service as an Army officer.
