im unironically obsessed w the Dylan/Gretchen stuff. u love ur husband but ur whole marriage u've been waiting for him to get his shit together and u have 3 kids and ur exhausted all the time and he's another thing u have to Manage but it's just bc he's excitable and this aspect of ur relationship - that he's not a good partner to u and u have to Manage him - creates a separation. and it's not like he's not trying or like u don't love him ur just not very in love. u can't even remember the last time u were. then one day strange people come to ur house and ask u to meet ur husband's work self. the one that has dedicated his literal entire life to supporting your family. ur uncomfortable but you go. and there is ur husband but for the first time in years he's just focused on u. he thinks ur so cool and so beautiful. he's so excited about the fact that you have kids together. he gets worried about the idea that his outside self might not be a good partner to you. he's Certain that his outside self must be happy even if you can't see it bc he's so happy to be around u. he asks if he can hug u.

severance continues to get wilder. gretchen cheats on her husband with her husband; don't let her husband find out! ham-based throuple gets significantly more ominous. helena convinced mentioning local depressed alcoholic widower's dead wife by the wrong name is a surefire way to get him to need her carnally. somewhere markhelly is wasting company time getting freaky under a table. milchick beefs with child and paperclips.

chewing glass about innie!dylan this episode. all this time he's spent imagining the life his outie must live - gaining confidence from the idea that his outie lives a life full of adventure and excitement, all the perks he could possibly hope to gain in the palms of his hands, with the ultimate perk being his family, his wife and children - and now he has to sit across from the woman his outie married and listen to her tell him that his outie in fact is not this incredibly successful fantasy of a man that he's clung to all this time. the quiet shock and devastation in his voice when he asks "so he's actually kind of a fuck up?" and the look on his face when his outie's wife doesn't deny it. and then him being blindsided again when he pledges to make her and the kids proud and she tells him sincerely that she is always proud of him. even imperfect, he is loved. what can he even do with that

it's the way Milchick tells Miss Huang how she has to "eradicate from your essence childish folly", then repeating that to himself as well as "grow up", then Mark and Helly sitting under a made-up tent, much like children. Dylan having his first kiss with his wife but more importantly, it's his childlike contentment with the simple things that make his wife lie to his outie. It's then Helena talking to Mark at the restaurant and saying "I'm, like, the head of the company, Mark" in such a childish manner, a teenager who wants to boast about something that isn't real. The contrast of that with Fields talking about how the pastor said Innies are complete individuals with souls. *shrieks*
